It was strange; having been home for no longer than a month, my presence was recognized internationally. Allies, friends-- these people I had met on my many journeys all reaching out to show gratitude and praise to a man that failed them once before. A death that I disagreed with having come to realization during an assault on Sunagakure. Was I the fool for dying, or a fool for placing my hands in waters I had no business touching? It mattered little, I was given something only a select few in history ascertained: a second chance. I wouldn’t spoil this time around, not never.
However, to make sure such a commitment would be seen through, I required relentless training and discipline. Luckily for me, there were others in the Hidden Leaf who sought the same: who sought me.
I made my way, albeit leisurely, to the nearly vacant expanse of the arena. Aburame Reisuke, a Jounin of the Konohagakure had extended an invitation to me to entertain him in a sparring match. At first reluctant, I knew I wouldn’t get many chances like this, considering the count of high ninja were at a low at the moment, so I accepted. Stepping into the arena, I made gradual hace from the entry and out into the open. Stopping but a mere fifteen meters from him, I used the time moving to this location to scan the arena. Ample light from a high resting sun and minimal debris and natural rock formations, there wasn’t much to hide behind. A small body of water rested off to my far right, surrounded by two trees, but besides that, nothing truly elusive stood out. This would surely turn into quite the frontal dispute. Having dabbled into records and rumors, I was aware of Reisuke’s aptitude for Genjutsu, as I was quite sure he was conscious of my Sharingan. However, like him, I only knew the obvious. Hopefully in this battle, I would come to understand his lust for combat. Equipped to perfection, my armor inserts resided beneath my casual attire, hidden to the naked eye. I would give him the first move as I folded one arm behind my back (left) while the other remained readied at its respective side.
