[/blockquote]"Afterall, who would be foolish enough to attack Sunagakure, of all places?"
I held my tongue. In such a calm state currently, I didn't wish much harm to come his way, although given the fact that his identity had been revealed merely weeks prior to this very meeting before the entire league of village leaders, I was unsure how far the news had spread exactly. Were the people of Sunagakure aware of the identity of their kage? I'd been there when he'd mused his coming, but bearing the mask of another and I had watched as it had crumbled in to dust. Was he still posing behind the man he'd imitated? I wasn't sure, but for his own sake I hoped that his guise was still strong. I was unsure how many people would recognize him now after so many years of changed appearance, but the name. It was unavoidable that someone would recognize him or some village would plan to overthrow not only his leadership but his life later down the line. And as a friend - I hoped only to prevent this from happening in any way that I could. Silently, I watched as his hands clasped around the milky white skin of my wrist, tainting it once more with an onyx mark, similar to the last but much less.. obvious. Again, I doubted that Kouketsu wouldn't be able to locate it - but it was my own to keep. His promise spoken, I'd bow my head only a little to show my thanks, the disturbingly radiant waves tumbling down alongside it.
"Be safe, Blanche.""Likewise to you."
As I withdrew my hand and covered it once more with the clinging fabric of my sleeve. Then grasping for the glove, I replaced it, it shaped perfectly around my fingers once more and climbed well up my lower arm, shielding the mark effectively from view. My answer however, as I made such an action, was quick but was in no means threatening or malicious. Instead pure and with as much if not more goodwill than he'd showed himself, I watched as he prepared to leave, allowing me to remember his words about himself and his village. Had the sands of time not already been poured to match my fate then I'd have taken his words lightly and without a sliver of care - but I could feel it sneaking up on me, small, dark fingernails frantically grabbing at each and scrap of fabric that they could find. It wouldn't be too long - a matter of days before my eyes would be torn out and my sanity along with it. Only a few days. Such tranquil moments like these were one that I needed - but the bearer of such a vice was none other than the man who Sora, before me, had only hours before told me to be wary of due to his misdeeds.Being able to feel each pump of blood in my system; the sound of my teeth pressing against the supple flesh of my mouth, I shuddered in disgust.
"..Thank you, Sora."
So soft and hushed I spoke, allowing my arms to rest on my knees again as I had all those few hours ago in the pouring rain, my lungs close to bursting with so much invisible pressure. Looking back at his position, I kept my gaze locked.
