Oh No The Cabbages! [Mission]

• Mission takes Place at the Kusagakure Village gates.

Well Muu had taken the job at the village gates with the hope of a thrilling, or potentially interesting at least, day. What he was getting thus far was the polar opposite. He had been sitting, literally sitting cross-legged on a balcony over looking the village entrance (on the village side) watching people get checked as they entered and exited the village.

He noticed that few entered, and more left for various reasons whether it be hunting expeditions, trading, or even the occasional traveler hitting the dusty path once again. A Masked ANBU had been standing beside him, at full attention and hidden under the shadow of the building the balcony was attached to. None save fro Muu could see him and he hadn’t really acknowledged Muu much, even thought eh little green haired boy had spent the first hour of his Gate Guard calling the masked man Paul, and carrying on a full length conversation with him. Yes, it was completely once sided, Muu even occasionally mimicking the voice he thought the ANBU would have.

But this form of entertainment was short lived, and now the Green Haired Broccoli demon of Kusagakure was left, idle and bored. Really, the most excitement he’d had was when he had killed a fly and smiled in utter enlightenment as he flicked it’s lifeless body off the balcony.

He just hoped that this day had some stored or hidden entertainment coming his way. A boy like Muu couldn’t be left like this for long, it could not only be bad for him and his health, but it could be disastrous for others.

GATE PATROL
RANK: C
DESCRIPTION: With newly reinstated security to the village, with the idea of community the village has requested shinobi to go on rounds on the village gates to aid the ANBU in protecting the village against potential attackers. Having felt the brunt of many attacks in the past, the village wishes to rework its idea of security and try to prevent as many raids as possible, and that isn’t possible without the help of willing shinobi to look after the gates and make sure that the only people who enter and exit are those who belong in the village and who leave with good reason (Missions, etc) and that those who have more devious intents are chased out of the country to prevent any damage from happening. Most of the time, nothing much happens at the gates- But be on your guard nonetheless!
OBJECTIVE: Patrol the village gates and make sure that all is well. Ward off potential attackers!
PAY: 50 EXP and 1,000 ryo / 100 EXP and 5,000 Ryo.

The sun beat down on him now, and Muu thought he might actually die! His lazy eyes were fighting to close and he was oddly mumbling to himself in a low tone, barely audible unless you were close to him.
”The bee’s are running from the man-Eating cake. But that’s silly cause the cake really eats apples. But then the grapes get jealous and then the real drama starts cause the grapes are actually in love with some wild plums and the slat shaker has no idea. Damn things are messed up today yes they are….”

Maybe the heat was getting to him, or possibly this was how he was normally? Yes, that was probably more accurate. Today he just had more time on his hands then normal as he watched people come and go as they pleased. Muu was crazy, and while this kind of blabber made no sense to a regular, normal, or even sane person, Muu accepted his gibberish as if it was perfectly good sense. Some people might be justified to wonder if Muu was really human or not after hearing him talk like this.. could you really blame them?

Muu had no idea that his day was fated to get a bit more interesting as a man came closer to the gates, pushing a large stand bristling with veggies. But not a regular veggie no. This cart was completely full of nothing but cabbages! Closer tot eh gates he came, getting ready to head out into the world and sell his wears, never knowing the was destined to cross paths with the broccoli headed boy.

Pushing the near overflowing cart of cabbages to the gates, he stopped as the designated “Gate Checker’ gave the man the run down and verified his papers and reason of business. However just as the cabbage man was on his way past the gates a women came racing towards him screaming!
”NO! He’s got a bomb in the cabbages!!!”

The man’s eyes opened In surprise as he looked back, but that was all Muu needed to leap form his ledge. He was racing forward, eyes set hard on the cabbage’s and the man pushing them along. Said man stopped moving and in a panic began hurling cabbages at the fast approaching green haired boy, yelling as he threw!
”She’s lying these are my precious cabbages leave them be!!!

Some other shinobi around the gates watched stunned, no ANBU made a move, maybe there was a reason for that. But Muu raced on, dodging cabbage after cabbage, determined to ruin this man’s dastardly plot of poisoning the world with the vile substance known as the CABBAGE! … oh yeah and to deal with the possible bomb threat as well I suppose.

Before anyone realized what was fully happening, Muu was engaged in a … well rather silly fight with the cabbage man. Imagine the green haired boy struggling with everything he had, reaching around the man again and again trying to get at the cabbages with murderous intent, while the man desperately held him back just out of reach of his precious cabbages, nearly sobbing and preaching their innocence the whole time.
”I don’t care if you say she’s lying! I must check and this strange bastard resembles Broccoli and for that I must eradicate the menace!! “

This seemed to evoke tears from the man as he wailed about being the care taker and lover of the cabbages and he couldn’t let such a fate befall them. Muu finally jumped back, determination set on his tired looking face. The cabbage man also wiped his face and armed himself with two cabbages, one per hand. The stand off began.

Time seemed to have frozen in the that moment, as a heated rivalry and hatred blossomed between the Cabbage man and the Green haired boy and Cabbages. Muu had a new enemy this day, and he would not lose the first battle with the dreaded cabbages, bastard relatives of his hated nemesis broccoli.

And then it happened, as if a pen was suddenly dropped in a silent room, time unfroze and Muu charged at the man howling in a primal shout, his strength growing as he went.
”AAAAGGGHHHHHH!!”

The Cabbage man retaliated to the boys approach with a flurry of arms and cabbage, raining his cabbage barrage to meet the incoming boy. Muu ducked and weaved, avoiding many cabbages but there were just… so many! He was forced to choose what blows to take head on, others he punched in mid air, sending the remnants of cabbage everywhere.

The heated combat that followed the first few strikes was a deadly flurry of green blurs and explosions, as projectile cabbage flew past the green haired boy and he in turn batted many out of the sky causing them to explode form his great strength. Bu all too soon the conflict would come to an abrupt end.

Maneuvering around the cabbage man, Muu then jumped, and fell into what would become one of his signature finishes, delivered a devastating blow with his strength enhanced fist, just over the attacks of the cabbage man, connecting with the cart of cabbage, and his enemies arsenal. The shockwave was intense, as dust and wood pieces mixed with bits of destroyed cabbage and a cloud of dust kicked up to cover the scene.

When it cleared, Muu was seen dancing around the obliterated cabbage cart, stomping bits of cabbage on the ground as the man sat on his knees, crying at the loss of so much cabbage.

After a moment or two of rejoicing in his victory, the ANBU who had been stationed next to Muu appeared at the boys side. His appearance caused Muu to stop and look at the Masked face in question, before he spoke in a low voice.
”As you can see… Muu Yanagi, there was no bomb. And this fight was for nothing. Clean up this mess and you are dismissed.”

There was a pause as Muu blinked at the masked man, and he turned to leave the boy to his chore, before he spoke once more and vanished like a shimmer.
”But nice work.”

Well at least he was being appreciated. Muu spent the next hour or so cleaning up the Village entrance of cart debris and cabbage remains, often stomping the bits for good measure and all the while smiling joyfully as he basked in his victory over his new foe.

But the eerie thought lingered as he left the gates… would he be so lucky when they met the next time?
