Tier One: Bone Density; The user's persistence within boxing has toughened their bones to a degree where blunt damage is decreased one rank. Additionally, user's no longer require gloves to protect their fists.
With us removing\having removed the “rank based” damage system, this mastery needs to be reworked (or simply reworded). Likewise, I’m curious if this mastery would have any effect on the user’s ability to perform the techniques “bare knuckle.” I think a good idea would be to have this also remove the need for hand-guards. But, that’s just my opinion.Tier Two: Combination Proficiency; After performing two consecutive Boxing punches, the user's attack speed will double. This speed increase will last as long as the user continues to use Boxing techniques. The moment the user stops using Boxing techniques for any reason, be it to use jutsu from another style, or to block or to dodge, or anything else, the speed increase will disappear, and the user must perform two consecutive Boxing techniques again in order to resume it.
Can you explain how, or why, this would happen? I mean, while it isn’t a bad idea, I just don’t see how a boxer suddenly gets a speed increase from using two techniques back to back. Furthermore, these attacks don’t even have to connect with the opponent.
If you want to keep it as it is, I think this needs to be geared more toward a “preying on the weak” type ability. For example, each time they connect with an enemy their speed increases by 50%, up to a maximum of 200%.Tier Three: Reading The Opponent; The user becomes adept at reading Taijutsu A ranked and under, based on the shoulder and knee positions, as well as changes in the opponents expressions. Dodging such attacks of course depends on the user's natural abilities, and RP performance determines all.
Essentially, a watered down version of the Sharingan’s abilities. While I can see how a skilled enough boxer could predict a user’s movements, I’m really not too keen on this as it is.
If we’re going to keep this in effect, it needs to be retooled. I wouldn’t be opposed to you using the “predicting” snippet to explain how the boxers might have additional agility (of which can stack ontop of the Taijutsu Primary perk, equating to a x3 passive increase), but just being able to predict a-rank taijutsu and below is a little steep for flat out taijutsu skills.Peek-A-Boo Guard
Rank: D,C,B,A,S
Range: Self
Type: Defensive Taijutsu
Chakra: None
Special: Blunt force damage delivered to the user is reduced by one rank, so long as the user’s rank of this technique equals that of the attack encountered. Attacks must be solidified. Does not stack upon armor, however if the user’s armor happens to break, this technique can be used. If the user’s rank of this technique is two ranks higher than that of the attack encountered, they cannot be knocked back. User must maintain the blocking stance.
Description: The user’s conditioning of the Boxing Arts have allowed their body to adapt to blunt damage very well, their bones and muscle becoming similar to actual armor. The user assumes a stance of keeping their forearms close to their body and parallel to each other. Bracing themselves, the user is able to assume the brunt of, and ignore blunt damage effects to their body.
Domain: Boxing Arts
With the removal of the aforementioned “rank damage,” I don’t think this technique needs to be multi-ranked. You could make this a single technique with a baseline amount of defense against blunt damage, which I feel would better, overall.Overhand
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Arm’s Reach
Chakra: High
Special: A punch technically considered a hook, though not truly such. The user makes a strike from above the typical height line of their punches, going downwards. The strike is capable of stunning opponents for two seconds.
Description: Delivered with the rear hand, the user may rise on their toes for just a moment before the punch comes downwards on their opponents head. Some fighters are known for attacking the body as such, ducking, and twisting their entire right side so that the strike lands to the opponents stomach area.
Domain: Boxing Arts
Two seconds? Just make it a full post.Gazelle Punch
Rank: B
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: 0-5 meters
Chakra: Mid x2
Special: A move used to close distance with opponents somewhat close to the user, this attack features a large jumping action, and a punch.
Description: Gathering the muscle in the legs and hip, the user will need to be somewhat crouched. At the moment of the charging attack, the legs push outward carrying them a considerable speed. While the user runs forward, a punch is delivered to the opponents midsection, typically (though not necessarily) a rear handed straight, or hook.
Missing the “domain” section. Likewise, does this leap\punch combo do any additional damage? I imagine it would. If not, and it’s considered nothing more than an simple standard punch, could you please clarify that?Sonic Fang
Rank: S
Range: 5-50meters
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Chakra: High x3
Special: One of the few distance techniques, the Boxer builds chakra into their right hand and whips it forward in an overhanded strike. The resulting movements release the buildup in a strike traveling at the typical speed of a Taijutsu Primary for a maximum of fifty meters, and is about five meters wide. The attack requires a charge time of half a post, and is completely linear.
Description: Developing a technique to cover distance became a priority as Boxer’s found themselves overwhelmed before being able to close to effective range. This technique has the user channel a violent chakra buildup into their rear hand, and by whipping that hand forward releases the chakra in a burning damage.
Domain: Boxing Arts
I’m not generally a fan of techniques like this being in a taijutsu styled tree. However, this isn’t that bad; it just needs a few tweaks. The distance of fifty meters needs to be dramatically reduced – fifteen meters, maximum, is fair. Likewise, the width needs to be shrank to something more like two or three.
I want it to be clarified that, like Hirutora, this is nothing more than a “pressurized bolt” capable of doing blunt damage. No cutting, no slicing through barriers – just a “force canon,” in short. While you’re doing that, I’d like you to elaborate a little more on the strength behind this. Can it break bones? Can it break weapons?Vertical Axe Kick
Rank: B
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Leg’s Reach
Chakra: Midx2
Special: A kick aimed to the midsection or chin of the opponent, delivering B rank power.
Description: The Axe Kick is a vertical rising kick, thrown to the chin of the opponent, thrown with the rear leg. The movements involved are relatively simple, the user balancing on their lead leg, with the rear coming up, heel parallel to the ground.
Domain: Boxing Arts
Again, the ranked damage needs to be removed. Verbally explain the kind of damage that would be taken if this were to connect.Flying Knee
Rank: B
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Leg’s Reach
Chakra: Mid x2
Special: A knee delivered as the user rises off the ground.
Description: The Flying Knee is performed within close range, or at times with a running start. Simple to perform, though difficult to properly aim, the users use the muscle of both legs to rise off the ground, and bring the rear leg’s knee up to strike the opponents chest or face.
Domain: Boxing Arts
How much damage are we looking at? Break a bone? Make ‘em feel sick? Knock their head off of their shoulders?Flying Double Knee
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Leg’s Reach
Chakra: High
Special: Using the opponent as leverage the user strikes with both knees.
Description: This technique, a variant of the Flying Knee, first has the user make contact with the enemy. Using the opponents body (normally the shoulders) as leverage, the user lifts themselves and launches both knees to make contact with the enemy’s chest or chin.
Domain: Boxing Arts
Same thing here. What kind of damage are we looking at? I’d imagine that since it costs a High worth of chakra you’re looking at a pretty hefty piece of damage.Heartbreaker
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Arm’s Length
Chakra: High
Special: A jab or straight hand targeting not the head, body, or chest, but rather the heart of the opponent. A successful strike paralyzing them for two rounds. Ignores armor two ranks below. Strike damage is accounted by the user's Basic Punch equivalent.
Description: Striking the heart is a particularly difficult feat in the fighting world, made no less difficult for boxers. After divisive aim, a straight or jab to this specific area drains the opponent of their energy and paralyzes them.
Domain: Boxing Arts
Since ignoring armor of a certain rank isn’t feasible, you’re better of explaining what kind of armor (even if only roughly). Say something like most armor, spare for steel-based. Wearing a leather hauberk? Not going to save you! Beyond that, either up the rank to s-rank or drop the paralysis to one turn.Punching and Stomping
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Range: Arm’s Reach
Chakra: High
Special: Holding the opponent in place via a stomped foot, the user proceeds to strike at the chin of the opponent. The immobilization of the foot removes the opponent’s ability to react to the recoiling effects of being punched, and increases damage greatly. An opponent caught in said technique would require a High expenditure of chakra in order to escape the Stomped hold.
Description: The Boxer in essence takes the basic concept of Stomping, and holds the opponent in place while they perform a variety of punches to the opponents body or face. Normally, the body is able to respond to the damage by naturally recoiling against it (which is why the head pivots in motion with the punch, or the stomach with push inwards when punched there. While stomped and immobile, the opponent is unable to recoil properly.
Domain: Boxing Arts
There’s no reason for the player to require a burst of chakra to escape someone standing on their foot. Now, if you’re using some of your own chakra to hold the foot in place (with an unnatural sense of weight), that’s entirely different. You’d need to go and edit the “stomping” technique, itself, and up the chakra cost to 1 High to cast, and low to sustain.
I wouldn’t be against you upping the chance of breaking the foot, either. But, this is only if you make the changes I just suggested. You’ll also need to edit in that the “boot” of chakra holds the user’s foot beneath it, requiring the aforementioned burst or the user’s cancellation of the technique.Low Blow
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Taijutsu
Chakra: High
Special: The Low Blow, otherwise known as Hip Pointer, is an attack aiming for the hip of the opponent, which Boxer’s had found to be very sensitive when forcibly punched, normally resulting in painful paralysis for two posts.
Description: Normally preceded by a crouching maneuver, the Boxer aims an uppercut to the opponent’s hip area, instead of the stomach or ribs that they would normally aim for. The attack inflicts great pain and drains the opponent of their energy. Contrary to popular belief, keep in mind, this attack CAN also be executed on females.
Domain: Boxing Arts
There’s one too many paralysis techniques in this tree. Up this to s-rank and lower the duration to one post.
Overview: This style is pretty good, honestly. There are a few things that need to be tweaked and better explained, but the basic principles are sound.
I apologize if I mention anything that's been previously addressed during this approval process, but the things I pointed out are what will need to be changed and orr amended for this style to be approved.
Let me know when it's ready for another look through.
