DRILLING THE POLICE

Description: As a way to help improve the quality of the training that officers in Kusagakure receive, a scheme was introduced to hire Shinobi to provide combat experience to the men and women of law enforcement through various scenarios. While it is a non-lethal exercise, one shouldn't take this lightly as the police are serious about their training, and can injure the shinobi if they don't watch out!
Objective: Take part in the scenario training exercises and give the officers a run for their money!
PAY: 1,000 Ryo and 200 EXP.

Kasumi welcomed the morning like a long lost friend. Refreshed and surprisingly nerve free, she was ready to take on her first C Ranked Mission. She dressed in her normal attire, complete with headband and item pouches, and made her way to the designated location; a field that was not too far from her place of residence. It was used for all training sessions and things of the same nature by the police, as there was a healthy supply of fresh air, open space so that none of the officers were crowded, and a low fence so that anybody who wished was able to watch. Her only worry was that she would embarrass the officers in front of everybody.

As she looked at the clock and saw that she was running late, she picked up her pace and ran out the door. The field was in view within a minute of walking at her quick pace, and soon enough she found herself amongst a rather large group of men and women dressed in matching workout attire. Some were burly, some were scrawny, some were tall and some were short. Some seemed like they didn't even belong there. There was a lot of different people to work with, so Kasumi decided that she would need some sort of plan of attack. She was supposed to help them train, and she thought she might be able to teach them a thing or two, maybe even learn something herself. She came to the conclusion was that they would need to take turns going at it in two different ways -- attack and defense.

"Alright, so my name is Kasumi Sansei, it's really nice to be here today. My mission is to provide combat experience to all of you," she began, her voice sweet and lofty. "Since we have a limited amount of time today, and we can only do so much, I'm going to break things down into two different categories: attack and defense. I'll also be splitting you into two groups," she explained, pointing at one of the scrawnier officers. "You and everyone on your right will be Team A. Everyone else is Team B. First, I'll let a Group A attack me, and I'll defend. I want Team B to pay attention to what I do." A small, sinister looking smile carved itself onto the kunoichi's face, eliciting a look of fear from one of the shorter cops.

"When I call for Team A to stop, I'll proceed to attack Team B in a similar way to how Team A attacked me... Though probably with a little more finesse, no offense." With a wink, her smile was gone and calm seemed to have returned. "I'm hoping that you'll be able to not only learn some better combat etiquette, if you will, but also that you'll improve your ability to watch and learn. I imagine you officers need that in your line of work," she said sweetly. Taking several steps back from the large horde of police officers and motioning for the two teams to split, she took a deep breath and entered a fighting stance. "Alright Team A, you're up."

The speed with which the officers went into motion almost caught Kasumi with her guard not fully raised. Almost. It didn't take her long to grasp her senses fully and recover from the slight trip up on her apart. She had to admit though, they were better than she thought they were. It was as if she had discovered a new found respect for the men and women of the law enforcement profession. She'd always thought of shinobi as being more useful and efficient. This group was proving her wrong within the first five seconds.

Though she had felt overwhelmed by the number of people when she arrived, she now saw that there weren't as many as she had originally thought. The individual size of many of them had tricked her, but just because they were fewer didn't make them any less of a threat, even if they were only in an exercise. The first attack came from one of the larger officers, who towered and outweighed Kasumi by a great deal. His size, however, would be his downfall. With a single sidewards step and a lagging of her foot, he would fall flat on his face and slide forward several feet. Though the others let their surprise stun them for a moment, it quickly ended and they were back on the attack.

Several of them seemed to have come up with a plan through body language and eye contact. It was good that they had that type of team work, but Kasumi wouldn't be taken down by anything simple, and the last time she had checked, officers weren't often training in Ninjutsu or Taijutsu. They did, however, have access to nets and things like that, and a rather large net was in the hands of two trainees, both of whom were attempting to rush and overtake her. Though normally she would burn the net and attempt to set it and possibly its operators on fire, she didn't want to hurt them or ruin their equipment.

With but five handseals, she focused Chakra into her throat and expelled a powerful stream of water from her mouth, overtaking the two who carried the net and forcing them down and away. "Remember to expect the unexpected, and always know that you can't anticipate what your opponent is going to hit you with," she announced. With three down, there were only three members of Team A left. They had separated and surrounded her at that point, forming a triangle around her. "Or maybe you were just trying to distract me... Very well done," the kunoichi complimented. However, she was capable of doing more than just spitting out water.

With several more handseals, two clones created from the water of her previous blast, stood by her sides, each holding a kunai in hand. As the officers rushed them, each copy of Kasumi disappeared in a blur and reappeared behind their respective officer with a kunai to their throat. "Team A is beat. Let's hope that Team B learned something from that little spar. You're up next," she said as each instance of herself released the officers and regrouped several feet away from Team B. It was Kasumi's turn to go on the attack.

The blue eyed kunoichi didn't waste any time in the second part of her demonstration. After counting that there were another six officers in Team B, she and her clones began their assault. They each ran forward, hoping to take the officers by surprise just as Team A had surprised Kasumi. If there was any hesitation on their part though, Kasumi didn't notice. She was beginning to think that this mission intended as a lesson for the shinobi more than it was for the police force. After all, when she thought about it, they probably had more actual experience with each other and with criminals. Kasumi was thinking she had been punked.

The three of them jumped up and began to fall forward, a single leg aimed at the head of one officer each. The officers were quick, however, and managed to step back just in time, as she had when approached by the hulking cop just minutes before. As each of them landed softly on the grass with their legs still sticking outward, they each stepped onto their reaching feet and spun with their other leg out, successfully catching each officer in the stomach and sending them reeling. The remaining officers caught them though, and set them upright. They were still able to go, despite the strength of her and her clones.

She decided that she would try one more attack, as the previous team had carried out three before she defeated them. Where she flipped backwards, each of her clones cartwheeled to the side and jumped up into the air again, this time somewhat higher than before. While they began to fall forward again, one ready to strike a punch and the other ready to launch a kick once more, Kasumi began to somersault while in the air with two legs extended straight. She was attempting to perform one of her favorite maneuvers -- a spinning heel drop. If it connected, then the officer that fell victim would certainly be out for awhile.

Though her clones missed, she made contact with her intended target -- the officer in the middle standing behind the shorter officer that she had initially attacked. He fell back and Kasumi launched upward, falling gracefully onto her feet behind him. The other officers had managed to destroy her clones, leaving her alone, but it didn't matter as her lesson was over. "Nicely done, but remember what I said earlier; 'remember to expect the unexpected'." She made sure the officer she had hit was fine, and when she was satisfied that he would be, she turned to address the rest of the police force that had showed up for training.

"You all really surprised me. Not to be rude or anything, but I didn't expect you all to be so strategic and work so well as a team. You all gave me a real run for my ryo, but I guess that's what happens when you underestimate others," she said, a small chuckle coming out of her as she rubbed the back of her head. "I hope this helped you guys and I hoped you learned something. It really seemed to me like you did, and I definitely learned a lot from this whole thing. So... Thanks for this, and good luck with keeping Kusa safe. I'm sure it can be a bit of a hassle," she finished with a laugh. Before leaving, she shook the hands of each man and woman of the force that had come, and thanked them each personally. When all was said and done, she was more than ready to head back to the Atrium.
