Dear Brother,

[/u]. This village is making me sympathetic though we both know… I’m nothing of the sort. I am leaving to search for myself once more- I’ll be at the loading docks if you wish to tag along. I might need some company..[/ul]

Through trees with decadent leaves did swift yet tranquil steps blur underneath the moon-lit sky as the one they called ‘CHIATSUKI’ made his way through the country of fire in attempts to making his leave. He hoped that his brother would read the letter before he made it to the docks.. but as he turned around in search of his sibling just after reaching the boat he would become forlorn to the arrival of his brother.

Underneath his feet he could feel the cold soil begin to drench his socks through his straw-woven shoes. In thought he transpired over keeping quiet in his last seconds within the land of fire, capturing the final sentiments of nature in one final glimpse just before turning back to face the ship. He was ready as ever but anxious as well.

“ALL ABOARD!!”

“Guess that’s’ my cue..” he would contort in a startled tone just before stepping upon the wooden platform acting as a vessel to the ships entrance. His hands would calmly glide across the railing as he pulled himself up- feeling the authenticity within its age and the moisture locked within its crevices. Stepping past the shuttle-like door the uchiha would leer upon the seating arrangements of the rest of the guests.

The inside of the ship has rectangular angles- and so people sat at the front and back walls while some others rushed to the top where they could view the ocean water. Chiatsuki found himself climbing the ladder to his immediate right, just as the others did, in order to stand amongst the top of the ship.. he had never been on one before today.

Onyx-hued eyes would leer upon the horizon as his ears instinctively honed in on the mesh of the ocean-waves. He would take his stand at the front of the ship using his elbows to prop him at a forward angle.

“I could definitely get used to this view..”

"Well looks like he's finally turned up."

The boy would say to himself as closed the note he had found inside of a box, he would quickly begin to get dressed. Moving swiftly around the room getting dressed, as he finished putting all of his clothes on he’d stop for a second to look in the mirror. He would look himself up and down before cracking a slight smile at himself, he rub his hands all around his head his would flip into it’s usual lose appearance. The boy would then grab his bag and began to pack, he would feel his bag with only the essentials because he didn’t want to travel with a lot. As he packed his bag he would hustle out of the house swiftly hoping to catch his brother at the dock, it had been quite some time since he had actually seen him. The boy actually found himself excited for the first time in a while, as he quickly pushed through the city of konohagakure in the light of the moon making his way towards the gates.

“Gotta get past them again, shit.”

The boy would say to himself as he activated his sharingan, he had figured he’d just put them to sleep as he did the first time he left. As the man that had been sitting at the gate noticed Ranshi’s presences the Uchiha would make eye contact with him causing him to fall asleep, in that moment the boy was free to the leave the village as he did. He would quickly travel towards the docks his brother spoke of trying to locate him, the sound of the night was nothing less than tranquil as I moved under the light of the moon. As the boy could hear the waves crashing up against the shore a smile would cross his face, he knew he was close to the docks. The feeling the boy had in his chest at the moment reminded him of the first time he had been able to train with his brother,

“Momo-san?!”

The boy would say as he noticed him from quite a distance, not much had changed since the boy had last seen him and he was happy about that. He was under the impression that his brother had been harmed or even worse killed while he was gone. I didn’t understand why he would just go missing after starting up that whole ROOT thing, but I wouldn’t think much of it because it didn’t matter as long as I was reunited with my brother. The Uchiha would make his way towards his brother calmly not trying to cause a scene, by the time he was able to reach he had already climbed to the top of a ladder aboard the ship. I would look at the top measuring the distance it was from the ground, it wasn’t too far as I would begin to climb to the top of the ladder. As I reached the top I would put up my usually demeanor even though I was thrilled to see my brother.

“Nice to see you again bro.”

As the anchor began to be pulled in by the ships sailors I could feel the boat slowly begin to fall into the hands of its watery canvass. The rocking back and forth did not disturb me as much as hearing the words momo-san echo from my right. I immediately knew who it was but tried to conceal my own anxiousness with a scowl of dejection. His footsteps at first were faint but would continue to grow louder as he neared my position atop the peak of the ship.

“Nice to see you again bro..”

I couldn’t help but crack a smile as I turned to greet him. The thing about me and him was that we never showed our affection aside from facial expressions, so a hug or even a handshake was out of the question.. but I knew just as much as he that we both wanted to. I had been gone for over a year- mapping out the forests of hi no kuni in case I was to ever return. My right hand would slowly push into my bangs- whipping it toward my shoulders before responding to him.

“I missed you brother..” I’d say with weary eyes. He resembled our mother more than ever.. and I was nothing but a clone of my fathers’ portrait. Ran-Chi definitely had the better looks, the girls laughing behind him made me realize that almost immediately. Even after a year apart from one another, however, we still managed to dress in exact symmetry. Our torso’s are mounted with long john sleeves which connect all the way to our ankles.

I had chosen to wear straw-woven sandals and a black cotton kimono while my brother professed his own as well, the symbol of our clan stitched along its back. “I have not seen your eyes in a very long time brother… they look more mature than ever now.. how did you manage such a feat without me?” I’d say in a joking manner, hoping to get him to tell me how he had obtained the third stage so swiftly. It had taken me almost my entire lifetime to acquire the third stage.. and he had procured it within a year of my own absence.

As his brother spoke the boy took it upon himself to find a seat for himself, he had been traveling most of the night. As he sat down across from his brother he'd hear the sound of a couple girls laughing in the background, the boy would turn towards the girls giving them a slight smile before he turned back to his brother. As the boat began to move out to sea the boy’s brother would admit to his feeling something neither of us were good at it, but it would only lead to the boy cracking a slight smile of his own.

“Yeah I miss you to Momo-San, so much has changed since you’ve been gone.”

The Uchiha would say as he had begun to reach into his bag, he would sound of his brother voice once more as searched through his bag. As he pulled a Kunai from the bag his sharingan would be fully activated, of course the boy was just showing off for his older brother has his eyes activated in the open like this. Ranshi would cut the Chakra supply to his eyes off with one blink of his eyes, once they were deactivated the boy would begin to carve something into the plank.

“Honestly after you left I kind of went off on my own, I didn’t even want to be associated with village they did nothing in terms of trying to find you. So of course I went off on my own searching the high’s and low’s of Hi no Kuni, at points during my journeys I felt like the only person I had in this world was myself. I had no one to protect me or protect, so I became quite reckless with my actions which lead to my eyes being this way.”

By the time the boy was finished speaking he had carved there family symbol into the boats deck, as his eyes floated back towards his brother he notice a slight change in his appearance.

“So what’s new with you, I know you didn’t go missing for no reason.”

As my brother cooed upon his journey for me in my absence I felt somewhat responsible for the way I saw him now. The last time I had seen Ran’Chi his aura depicted that of innocence, he was without a doubt a sanguinary presence in my life.. but now.. as I watched his eyes flicker to and fro the ominous sharingan I saw something much more different. He had inherited my own vengeful spirit.. and with every stroke he took with his kunai, engraving our clans symbol on the boat, I felt vain. My younger brother had turned into the person I had once wanted him to be.. but now, seeing him in this close up made me realize that what I had wanted for him was nothing more than unavailing.

“I am sorry for the way things turned out damo-kun. But at least we share the same hatred for the village that turned its back on us…” I would retort in a silent tone making sure to not be heard so easily. My hand would press onto Ran-Chi’s shoulder as I sat to the left of him, “We will exact our vengeance one day.. but we must travel the world first and learn of our true calling…” I would lick my lips as the ship had begun to move- I could taste the salt within the air around us. My words would calmly wait as the ships horn bellowed out.. vibrating the ships walls in a trembling tone.

“A lot has changed about me.. including my own eyes..” I would say. I had not activated my eyes for a very long time - but not because I was too proud to use them.. no. In truth I had become afraid of the power I now possessed. My brother probably knew nothing of a fourth stage of the sharingan.. and now was definitely not the time to show him. “I now see things much more clearly. I am sure you can relate to the feeling in the moment you activated your third stage. I now see even more clearly without our mothers gift. I like it better that way.”

My eyes would cut towards the expression of my brother as I finished speaking. Uncertainty would begin to settle in as I inquired on my brothers eyes.. just exactly what had he seen in my absence to have given him such a power? No matter.. I was sure he would open up in time but for now I would sit in silence allowing him to soak in the fullness of what I spoke of.

As his brother spoke for the first time the younger brother would listen attentively, as he always did when his brother spoke about anything. Ranshi always felt like his brother mattered more than anyone else that was a part of his life, which why he found himself in the position that he was in now. With the boat swaying from left to right the Uchiha stomach would become a little upset, though the boy didn’t show he’d just wipe the slight sweat from his head. As his older brother went on to speak on his feeling towards the leaf, though he thought slightly different at the end of the day it was all same thing. I would muster a bit saliva spitting off the side of the ship,

“Yeah fuck them… I can’t wait till that day.”

The Uchiha would say under his breath, but before his mind began to wander off into the many different realities of his own he would his brother’s voice again. He would turn to him once as he began to speak, he would speak of his own eyes. His comments surely left his brother with something to think about, you could see it in the boy’s face that he wanted to figure out what his brother meant about his eyes. Ranshi knew that his brother had already unlocked the full potential of the sharingan before he had left, it was made him want to work harder to become as powerful as his older brother. But now he spoke of another change, the boy’s eyes would shift towards the sky above two of them.

“Well that’s quite interesting Nii-san, I always felt like moms gift made it easier to see through this world filled with lies. Once my eyes are activated I feel as if I have control over any and every situation I am in, or better put I see the truth….”

I would take a slight pause before look back towards my older brother.

“But as you said seeing the world through my normal eyes is far less complicated, it gives me a sense of relaxation… But now lets see what the world has in store for us, I know we take the Shinobi by storm if we work hard enough.”

The blood-thirst lurking around my brothers words was clandestine to the civilians around us but his words I see, in clear detail, are so warped in hatred that even I sat unsure as to whether or not Ran-Chi knew what he was saying. Sure… I wanted revenge for our clansmen whose blood remained stained within every corner of the village but I did not want to kill innocent people on my ancestors’ behalf. My personality resembled non chalant only because I kept most of my feelings bottled- never have been the type to preach to anyone.. not even my own flesh and blood. He knew absolutely nothing of the vengeance I spoke of.

“The only thing I have ever seen clearly since the day I left was that there is no such thing as a shinobi alliance anymore. After I am done with this world everyone will see what true power is. But first things first- we will need a squadron.” My words like daggers cooed from a temper within me, one I had concealed fairly well in the past year. Hands like rocks to my side as I fought back the urge of the mangekyou. My eyes would bow as I thought of my mothers smile- the only remedy to my hot headed temper. I would smile as her image appeared before me before opening my eyes once more. “It is impertinent we find the location of all hidden villages..”

My right hand would calmly glide into the opening in my kimono and I would reveal a map of the shinobi world. I would then continue to unfolding and placing it between the center of us both. I had mapped the entire leaf nation before today and so there were many checkpoints I had marked around the country of fire. “Our next destination is the village of earth. Our goal is to retrieve two to three of their headbands and map the village. If there is anything you wish to add, feel free to express it now before we are there- I will not speak much after we have arrive.”

The younger of the two boy’s listened attentively to his older brother; he wouldn’t make many movements as his brother explained the plan. It had made the boy wonder what exactly was his brother aiming to do, he hadn’t seen him for over a year it had seemed his outlook on life had changed completely. Ranshi eyes would head for the sky once more as he began to think about his dad, it was something he did on the regular the thought of him was the only thing that kept the young boy going.

“Well all I can say is, I’ll support you on whatever endeavor you chose to go on. But as far as this squadron goes I can’t promise I’ll trust everyone that is part of it, so I can’t promise you that’ll work well with them.”

Subtle thoughts for the rambunctious tides; I sat in silence as my brother finally let out his last breathes. I understood him completely and could find no reason to interject his opinions. My fingers would curl around the map once more as my brothers eyes escalated to the sky above, rolling it up swiftly and placing it back inside my kimono pocket. It wouldn’t be long now until we arrived so I would take the time to close my eyes- eons it seemed since I could take a nap without keeping at least one eye open –

Hours later I would awake to a strange gawking overhead. “Make sure not to leave anything on the boat!” a final voice would say before wiping the crud from my eyes. I would take a peek at whether or not my brother was still beside me before coming to a full stretch. After yawning I would simply tap my right hip to make sure my kodaichi hadn’t been stolen. After looking into what I presumed to be the country of earth a look of disappointment would cross my features. “How did we end up in the land of thunder..?” I would say to myself before turning calmly to my brother hoping for a retort.

“Well, looks like our journey will start from here brother. A little bit unexpected, but we can make due with a few shortcuts. The plan, however, still remains the same for here..” I’d say directing my words to Ran’Chi with a smile before stepping onto the diagonal floorboard making my way down off the ship. More lively than the country of fire my eyes would settle upon a lavish scenery filled with chatter amongst the civilians – oh how I hated their hidden joys. My steps would start slow as I awaited for brother to catch up, if we were going to find the village of cloud we would need to investigate.

“Oh and one more thing” I would say pulling my hand up towards my headband, snatching it off and placing it into my outside pocket, “No headbands. We are civilians. You can call me moesashi from now on, our real names are our only weakness at this point. What would you like to be called?”

“Ehh.”

The young boy would begin to stretch his arms out a bit while letting out a low grunt noise, the boy had fallen asleep while a few moments after he looked away from his brother. It had seemed they had arrived at the shores of Kumogakure, as the boy stood to his feet he would notice how much taller he was than his brother. A slight feeling of superiority would cross his mind though he knew he didn’t possess the same power his brother did, the Uchiha would look towards the deck before jumping off the elevated platform to the deck below. Landing softly on the ground the boy would look back towards his brother as he told him what the plan was, he would nod his head as he began to speak.

“Alright, just lead the way bro.”

The boy would say as he checked his satchel making sure all of its contents were there, once his brother joined him on the deck they proceeded to exit the ship. It hadn’t been many people exiting with the duo as they had taken their time to get off the boat, his brother would stop him for a second explaining to him exactly what the situation was. The boy didn’t really care too much about removing his headband because he didn’t give to many shit’s about it, they boy actually tossed it aside into the water next to the boat. But the boy would pounder to himself about what he would call himself, he couldn’t think of anything until a light finally clicked.

“moesashi-san you can call me Ichi. Also I heard we’ve got some family here.”

The boy would say thinking to himself of time he had met the Reikage in the woods that day, he had been following him but lost track of him and the boy that was a part of root. He would place his hands in his pockets before turning towards what had looked like a long path,

“Ready?”
