"he'll be fine," one of the nurses had told her, "just a punctured lung, a couple of broken ribs - his nose might be a little disfigured after but.. oh no, i'm sorry! really he'll be fine!"
miyako could have dropped the bitch right then and there. who the hell did she think she was? did she really think this was consoling? miyako did her best to smile but only managed a small grimace before politely asking the nurse to check back on ezo. it was early stages yet. miyako had gotten the call late into the night. she'd been the only emergency contact they could get onto, with her mother away on a mission and father in snow country for business. miyako had been out of the apartment doors within minutes - she didn't even remember locking the door or turning the kettle off, if she even did. she was still in her pajamas; an oversized t-shirt with a cat on the front and short shorts, with a cardigan pulled on messily, one shoulder already falling down. her hair was plaited and hung down her left side loosely. all in all she looked a mess, and felt it. ezo her younger brother had ran into some trouble, from what the nurse told her, and received some pretty nasty injuries. their team medic nin patched him up enough so they could get him home to proper care. they'd called her in as a courtesy but she could gather that he was in a pretty rough state.
unable to sit still miyako paced the hall outside of the emergency room, teeth ferociously chewing on her thumb nail. he was only sixteen for goodness sakes! he shouldn't be getting this roughed up. an image of ashura, the young boy she'd met the other day, flashed in her mind. had he ever been in that emergency room? she shuddered to think. a loud beep snapped her to attention, made her back track and hope to whatever gods were listening that it hadn't come from ezo's room. she wanted to see him, hold his hand, tell him everything's alright and lecture him for getting so beat up. frustrated with her inability to do anything, miyako turned to start her pacing again but ended up colliding in with one of the doctors.
"i'm so sorry," she breathed shakily, getting out of his way. all she was doing was being in the way. biting her lip, she folded her arms under her chest and walked down the hall way, into a room meant for family members and friends of patients. she'd been here a few times before, for her mother, her cousin, even friends. it wasn't a pleasant place for her, but she knew her way around. the coffee machine caught her eye and walking over to it, she set about making the strongest brew she could. in her haste, she managed to spill water all over the floor.
"god damn it!" she growled, snatching some paper towel from the dispenser near the fridge. on her hands and knees she started mopping up the mess. how lovely was this night turning out to be? and joy, it was only two o'clock in the morning. miyako had to hope no one would come in and see her like this.
ooc: @matty, i figured since yo hoe was in the hospital i'd just make a post there b/c idk :I deal with it
