description; Every once in awhile, especially after the recent reformation of the geography, we like to go out and map the surrounding area. It’s relatively safe but incredibly detail oriented. We can’t afford you messing up in the least as this assures our ninja will know the ins and outs of their country if war was ever to fall upon us.

"Right...let's take a look at the old map" muttered the female as she looked at the old map. It was at least five years old considering what had changed since then. The expansion of that temple had not been marked on it for instance.
But that was out of her reach for now. Today, her mission was to make a newer map with a lot more detail on it than the old one.

'At least the path looks all right. I'll just continue further down until I reach the fork in the road two kilometers further down. Should be enough since they wanted so much detail' decided Yukiko.
She decided to walk today instead of using the tree-jumping travel method. This mission required her to SEE the route properly from the ground.

Her first thing to write up at the old map was already right ahead of her. There was a bridge that had been built over that semi-large river. A smile formed at her face when she drawed the bridge onto the map. She crossed the bridge before her eyes looked at the forest. It looked like some of the parts had been cut down for some reason.

'Let's just hope they have re-planted some new trees' thought the young woman as she drew the changes onto the paper. She was not a huge fan of people cutting down the woods. Her eyes kept a close look at the surroundings while her ears tried to catch up any unfamiliar sounds. There was always a chance that some unwanted people could be around...

'No more cha-'. Her trail of thoughts came to a halt when she saw a sign further ahead. She jogged a little closer so she could read it.
'Do not enter this forest! Vipers have been spotted here' said the sign. This was off course a joke; it was just something that the shinobis had made to scare away civilians.

'I should mark up this sign too just in case' decided the female. She walked a bit further with her eyes alert of any changes that had been done. 'What!?' thought Yukiko when she saw the path fork ahead of her. She looked down at the map again...was not the fork suppose to be almost a kilometer down the road!? This had to be investigated a little further since it was so close to Kumogakure.

She jogged towards the road split to see if there were any road signs that could give her a hint of where this road went. Ice blue eyes then spotted a sign next to where the road forked. 'Kaminari no Tera: 4 kilometers.' told the sign that looked relatively new.
'Hm...I don't have enough time to follow the way all down. Better look at the map' thought the young woman as she pulled up the map.

Kaminari no Tera was quite a famous temple that laid about 5 kilometers north-east of Kumogakure no Sato. 'If the way goes here, it will go through that small mountain pass right ahead. I'll just draw up the start of the new road here and let some of the scouts finish it' decided the Chuunin. She found out her location and drew the supposedly new route to the famous landmark.

A small breeze rustled through the air as the female continued down the path that she had decided to check. There was not anything new going on...missions like these could be a bit boring sometimes. But at least there was no need to worry about being outnumbered by scoundrels or bandits.
'I'm almost at the location where I should be now' thought the brunette when she glanced down at her map. There was a tiny temple in memory of the wolf god a bit further down the road that many shinobis used when they went on long journeys.

She crossed a small bridge before she spotted two traders that were pulling some small carts. 'Maybe they're returning from that market in Kami no Shima' pondered the young woman as she approached them. "Hey, where are you guys going?" inquired Yukiko when she came a bit closer.
"We're about to go to Kaminari no Tera. We heard there is a new trail around here" told the guy who had his hair tied back in a small ponytail.

'So the trail IS real' thought the female while she looked at the duo in front of her. Neither of them looked like shinobis or had that eerie look in their eyes like nuke-nins had. "Is it very far away?" inquired a guy who had short green hair.
"No, just walk a bit further up this road. You will then see that the road forks in two" informed Yukiko as she pointed towards the fork.

"Great...I was hoping it was not that long left. Thanks miss" stated the brunette. "You're welcome. Have a safe journey" replied the young woman with a smile before she went further down the road.
'At least that should confirm to a certain degree that the road exists. Well well, look at that' thought the Chuunin when she was about to walk a bit further down.

The big field that was on the map now had a number of small trees on it plus some bushes she had seen around in the village. 'Looks like they're making an effort to keep up the forest' thought the female with a small smile. She went a bit further down the road until she could see the small temple that was her checkpoint.
A shinobi wearing the same uniform as her stood in front of it. He muttered something before he disappeared into the forest...probably someone who was tree-jumping.

'I should probably change my route a bit further down. There is a path there that goes to Kumogakure as well but it is a bit less visible than this one. Or so I hope' pondered the brunette. There should not be too many paths that lead to a hidden village like Kumogakure. At least in her opinion...she had no idea what the council was up to.

She walked a bit further down the road while she kept her eyes open for the new path that should be somewhere nearby. 'Where IS IT!?' thought the young woman in slight frustration. The path SHOULD be visible from the forest as far as the map was concerned.
But for some reason, she was unable to see it. Perhaps she had to look a bit closer for this one...

The female entered the forested area and looked at the map for a moment. A small path that led to Kumogakure no Sato should be close to the wolf shrine she had just visited. 'Maybe they decided to hide it a bit better' thought Yukiko.
She looked at the map again and went towards the direction where the village was. A sigh of relief escaped her mouth when the path was spotted a bit further ahead of her.

'Looks like I'm on the right track' thought the young woman with a small smile at her face. She jogged a bit further up with the map in her hands. Suddenly, a loud SNAP! broke through the silence of the forest.
The Chuunin jumped backwards when she noticed that stepped onto something that looked like a dead branch of some sort. But the funny thing was that the branch was gray on the inside...this was a trap!

Her eyes then noticed some ropes that went through some branches ahead, so she shunshined forwards as fast as possible. It turned out to be a wise decision since some thick branches felt dwon from some trees right above her previous location.
'This is a sign that I'm getting close to the village. I should mark the trap here in case some shinobis from my village has to use this route' decided the female. She marked down the trap before she walked a bit further down the path.

Her body was more on the alert now since there could be a chance that there were more traps in this forest. She wondered why there had not been any traps or misleading signs on the road apart from the snake sign.
'Maybe they think that people are so stupid that they use the forest path to get to the village. Which does not make sense since the road leads quite close to the gates' thought the brunette. Perhaps they had not laid any traps due to the number of civilians that used the main road.

Her eyes then spotted some trees ahead that appeared to have blown down...it looked like something or someone had pulled them up by their roots. 'Weird' thought the young woman while she kept walking down the path. She spotted another trap, this one a bit harder to spot unless you were a decent shinobi.
It was a snare of some sort that had been camouflaged by leaves. The tell-tale sign was the light brown string that was tied around a branch further up in the tree next to it.

'Looks like I'm almost home now' thought the female when she crossed another trap that appeared to be some sort of slingshot. The trap was out of her reach but she marked it anyways. Slingshot traps could be dangerous for those who jumped in the trees.
Yukiko then stepped over a tree trunk before she looked at the map again. The village should be only one kilometer away from her current location.

Ice blue eyes looked around to see if there was anything or anyone nearby that made her suspicious. A sudden movement near a bush made her pull out a kunai, her chakra stirring a bit in case she had to use a ninjutsu. But the source was nothing less dangerous than a small bear cub that was extremely adorable.
'The mum must be nearby. I better get going unless I don't want to become bear-mashed' decided the young woman as she hurried away from the small animal.

This confirmed that there were still some large animals that lived nearby the village. For some reason, the Raikage council had decided to put some large animals like bears near the village. Which was not a bad thing as long as they had food to eat that was not civilians.
'I better be careful now...the village is only 600 meters away' thought the Chuunin. There could be a lot of nasty traps in this area since the forest was getting thicker.

Her feet then suddenly stepped on something that looked like cardboard. 'CRAP!' thought the female before she shunshined backwards as fast as she could. It was not fast enough since some of her right shoe was now covered in some glue-looking substance.
The cardboard material worked as a cover up for some superglue that could make people unable to move. Thankfully, the brunette had gotten away quickly enough to escape the situation.

'I better mark up that one as well' thought the female as she pulled up the pencil. She could spot the small hill that went up to the gates a bit further ahead. There was probably not a lot of traps here since she was within the guards reach.
And the guards were MUCH worse than any sort of trap that could be conjured. The next stop would be the Raikage tower to collect her reward.

We weren't too far from Kumogakure no Sato now. The majestic pine-forested landscape that was Kaminari no Kuni lay sprawled out below us. And, as Fusa approached a sea of clouds flooding across towering mountains, she seamlessly curved her flight path downward. It wouldn't take long for the slender white dragon to find a place to land, momentarily gliding between the tall pine trees, until we reached an adequate grass clearing. She landed with silent, graceful ease.

I could spot fallen trees up ahead, and more than a few obvious traps scattered about the place. But no immediate threats or presence in the area. So, delving into the contents of my satchel with a single gloved hand, I retrieved my old ANBU dragon mask. After I placed it on, I would follow-up by swiping on my wide-brimmed hood, and casting a large portion of my masked face beneath its shadow. I swung my legs over to one side, and hopped off the passenger harness on Fusa's back.

Black boots landed roughly on the lush patch of grassland below, the ends of my ebony cloak fluttering with the gust of wind that passed. My momentary pause thereafter would only be interrupted when I heard Fusa repeatedly pound one of its claws on the ground before her. I turned to see, and saw that something had managed to attach itself to her right paw. Was it... cardboard? I chuckled as she tried to gnaw it off.

"Let me help." I smiled, as I approached the small hindrance. What appeared to be glue had been slathered against the material's top side. Through our combined effort, however, Fusa and I managed to pry it off the bottom of her paw. "I can take it from here." I spoke, examining the curious little trap for a moment before tossing it away from us. Turning to the dragon, I continued. "You go on back to your family, and rest."

Fusa nodded. "Fortune with you, Dovahkiin."

Reaching up to softly stroke the side of her jaw with my gloved hand, I returned the nod with one of my own. "Thank you." Then turned to return home at last. A year and a half gone.
