Name: Espionage: Internal Affairs

Description: Tales more just as fluidly through the underground circuit as water through a defined channel. As such with the proper form of reimbursement and a willing ear to comprehend, news of something grave have surfaced. Within the Hidden Leaf ranks, it seems an official by the name of Chōshiki Yugi- a Chūnin and respective member of Anbu has gathered a small battalion of men to eventually oppose the Hokage. Their goal is simple—to claim the title of the fire shadow and rule with an iron first. Consciously, they accept their current strength as subpar and as such haven’t surfaced publicly; it’s your job to make sure this doesn’t happen. In a small team of two, or alone, you’re to investigate this scheme and put an end to it as best you can; death will NOT be permitted.

Lightning was standing on top of the mission headquarters roof at exactly seven pm, looking around in the partial darkness as the moon started to make its way into the sky. She had been given a mission, and had been paired up with a chuunin to complete it. All she needed to do was wait for him or her to show up so they could get this thing started.

She really had no plan as to how they were going to put down this guy named Yugi, but she didn't think it would be terribly life threatening. Worst come to worst she could always find a way to blow up their hideout while they slept... "Well that won't work since we have to capture them alive... Right?" She asked herself as she read through the mission details. It said that death was not permitted, but she wasn't entirely sure what that meant. Maybe her partner would know.

I any case, Lightning had used her ANBU privileges to gather up pretty much every detail about their supposed opponent as she could. Combined with the details the mission headquarters was willing to part with, she really did have a lot to work with. As for his henchmen, Lightning had no reliable information. In any case, she made sure to have all the scrolls and details open at her feet. Whenever this chuunin showed up, he or she would have to read it all anyways so there was no point in putting it away.

Before anybody arrived, the Jounin was sure to create three shadow clones and have them hide and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity. Their primary target was also an ANBU so it wouldn't be surprising if he had sent an assassin to finish them off before they began.

The wind whipped through Suzuka’s wild hair as she made her way back toward the mission headquarters. This would be the third time that day she’d been there; back to her old overachieving ways, she’d come in trying to get extra intel. She managed to get a bit more, but she realized they hadn’t given her everything; she’d come back and stood at the counter, feet set and argument ready, just to be told that someone else had had proper clearance to take the files and that they wouldn’t be available to Suzuka. She didn’t quite like the glare she’d gotten when he said “proper clearance,” but she couldn’t exactly do anything if they actually didn’t have the materials. She just left to research what she did have as much as possible.

She studied the materials thoroughly before setting out. There was a chill in the evening air, so she wore slightly thicker tights than normal under her black shorts. Warm in her jacket, she enjoyed the breeze as she jumped from rooftop to rooftop, considering the information she’d already found. The kid was a Chuunin, and an ANBU member. If the village had been watching like they said they would, they’d probably picked up on the fact that Suzuka wanted to be a member herself. She couldn’t see non-ANBU members being sent on this mission normally; maybe this was a test of some sort? The other person she’d be working with was a jounin. Maybe she was an ANBU member as well—someone to test her skills out. Then again, maybe Suzuka was just self-centered and way too hopeful. She cleared these thoughts from her mind as she arrived. Her feet touched down a few feet from where her partner was standing, and as Suzuka approached, she quickly noticed the vast amount of information the elder kunoichi had collected.

“I take it that’s most of the intel I was looking for earlier today…” Suzuka mumbled, overall unsurprised but still a little thrown. At the other girl’s feet lay But then, she couldn’t be upset at her partner essentially doing the same thing she did before a mission. And then, the Jounin had done so legally, as well—not that Suzuka had ever exactly done anything illegal, but the poor people at headquarters she’d harassed for information in the past might be inclined to disagree. “I’m Hyoujikaze Suzuka. Nice to meet you.” Her tone was friendly, but they had business to attend to. “I took the liberty of speaking to some of the people Chōshiki Yugi used to associate with. While it seems that they didn’t have much in the way of information, they have noticed at least one person who he used to train with disappearing at odd times. I’m not sure if it’s related, but the possibility exists that other Leaf ninja may be involved. As far as I can tell, though, there’s no reason to assume that Leaf is the only village involved.”

Were she working with someone younger, she would suggest they proceed with caution, but surely, her superior would know this. In fact, it was quite possible (and given the spread that lay at her feet, plausible) that she knew all this already. Suzuka wasted no time in beginning to take a look at the materials there. She was a bit annoyed, though—if things had gone according to plan, she would have gotten all this already. But then, as she looked through the materials, she realized that headquarters hadn’t held back terrible much this time. She pored through the bits of information she hadn’t seen, awaiting further instruction. As always, she had ideas, but she didn’t mind letting a superior call the shots within reason.

[ooc: if we end up going after the training partner, I was thinking that my 4th shadow clone would get killed by him/her. We would know where he/she is and be able to possibly capture em. If not, I could always find another way to use it.]



Lightning would create one more shadow clone which was pushing her limits at best. She sent it out towards Yugi's residence for surveillance purposes. Other than that, she simply stood around, knowing that she was somewhat safe if her shadow clones hadn't found anything yet. Soon enough, her partner for the mission showed up. She introduced herself to be Suzuka Hyoujikaze, so Lightning nodded and responded, " and I'm Lightning."

As the chuunin got closer, the Uchiha got a closer look at her face which sparked a memory from an ANBU meeting. She had been informed that some prospective recruits would be assigned to crucial missions and if her memory was correct, Suzuka was one of the names that were mentioned.

Well, it's probably best I don't bring it up now. It's best not to make her nervous. If she does well I'll make sure to mention it at the end.

As Suzuka continued to speak Lightning kept nodding along slowly and attentively. It seemed as though she had gone even more in depth with her research than Lightning had. On top of that, she had probably worked several times as hard to get all of that information. Impressive, the Jounin thought as Suzuka finished. The elder kunoichi had a list of Yugi's acquaintances along with some basic details, but hadn't bothered to look further into them.

"Nice initiative," Lightning said as she stretched her arms, "Well, we should definitely take a look into this training partner you mentioned. You'll probably see him or her in the report somewhere. There should be enough information in there to at least find out where he/she frequents." There was then an awkward pause then she continued, "oh, if you have any ideas I'd be glad to consider them. There's always more than one way to do these sorts of things…"
