JIN KAGEROCHI
Taijutsu secondary
APPEARANCE
Pale and fair-skinned, the young Kusa ninja is tall and thin like bamboo. Despite his thinness his physique is remarkably muscular upon closer inspection as a product of his diligent training, betraying his initially frail look. His face is full of precise features such as thin lips and a sharp jawline, complimenting his almost skeletal body type. His hair is unremarkably black and kept at a manageable length that fall just under his eyes, usually parted when wearing his ninja headband to reveal a pair of dark eyes with noticeable rings around them from a lack of sleep: indicating many nights spent working late in to the early hours of the morning.
In terms of clothing Jin is fairly simple and beyond his ninja headband and any armour he might wear, Jin's clothing is quite minimalistic. Preferring darker, muted colors of a respectable and professional nature you'd be hard pressed to find him wearing little more than a simple kimono tied with a simple obi. Favoring light and billowy clothing that allows much freedom of movement, preferring to move swiftly and sacrifice protection in doing so. In terms of footwear Jin prefers not to wear anything, though in most cases a pair of wooden geta usually suffice.
PERSONALITY
Publicly, Jin comes off as a quiet individual. Among the least boisterous and rowdy people you’d ever meet the young ninja is happy to stand silently and wait out situations patiently and do his duty without question. He only speaks when it is entirely necessary, always choosing his words carefully and never speaking out of term. To many he might seem like the perfect soldier: loyal, obedient and compliant enough to undertake whatever tasks are thrown his way with minimal fuss. However this strong, silent demeanour hides a viciously ambitious interior.
Highly neurotic, Jin is exceptionally paranoid and obsessed with the safety of his village. This severe concern goes beyond mere patriotism and has caused him to see every outside force as a threat. Every other ninja village is an enemy as far as he is concerned: a variable in a constant state of flux that is forever potentially destructive to the well-being of Kusagakure. With this highly xenophobic attitude in mind Jin has resolved to ensure the survival of his village through any means necessary.
Very politically minded and skilled at confrontation both on the battlefield and in the boardroom, Jinhas learned much about people from simply watching and observing them silently and prides himself on being adept at reading people’s intentions and calling them out on deception and misdirection as well as being able to easily misdirect people himself. Sneaky and backstabbing in nature his loyalty to the well-being of Kusagakure supersedes that of any loyalty to friends and family and is willing to betray or outright murder those he is close to if it benefits his ideal ‘greater-good’.
HISTORY
Orphaned at a young age to two ninja parents (his mother died during childbirth and his father was killed in the line of duty soon after) he was left in the care of the village. Without the affection received by most children from their parents Jin learned only servitude. In an environment where he was conditioned to work for his meals and play he began to see the basic necessities life as commodities to be earned rather than as rights that were given out of love. This shaped his future world-view; causing him to see society as a well-oiled machine to benefit those who work for the greater good whilst the selfish and the lazy went unrewarded.
When he finally reached the age where he was ready to become an academy trainee ninja it’s easy to understand why Jin was able to excel so far and so quickly despite initially being described as having ‘no immediately discernible talent or promise’. Indeed, young Jin was one of the slowest students in his class who found it difficult to understand and implement many basic principles that other children found relatively simple. However, despite not being the most talented Jin was by far the hardest worker. So he simply worked harder, relentlessly pouring over as much work as he could and eventually rising to being one of the top students.
Whilst most children would often talk of dreaming to be the village’s next kage Jin never had any dreams of the sort: If he’d ever be offered the position he’d likely take it but his only ambition was to work as hard ashe could. By the time of his graduation, Jin was being hailed as a prodigy though he was swift to dismiss that claim, declaring that he was nothing more than a diligent worker. After graduation Jin was quickly assigned to a three man team under the supervision of a jounin. Their first few missions were uneventful, hardly the kind of activities you’d see most ninjas engaging in but Jin took them without complaint.
Whilst the other two team members would complain about never seeing any action the studious child would simply remain silent and compliant, hardly ever speaking unless spoken to. Needless to say he didn’t get on well with the other two genin in his team. Jin always had a reputation among the other students as being the weird kid who always worked too hard and never said anything with no friends or family to call his own. Eventually the time came where the ninja had to embark upon a mission of actual severity, where despite it only being a low rank mission and the young ninja nowhere near taking the chuunin exams any time soon there was always the possibility for violence.
However, halfway through the mission it became obvious that the task was going far deadlier than first realised. Ninja from another village(through what could have been a simple failure in communication or a planned attack, Jin never found out) became entangled in the events surrounding their mission and eventually Jin was given an ultimatum: he could save his squad and effectively risk failing the mission altogether or he could leave his squad to die and ensure the mission’s completion. Without hesitation Jin went for the latter option.
These events would not only cement his tendency to put the mission first but it also created a loathing of ninja from other villages. After the way they almost jeopardized the mission he came to see outside ninja as obstacles to the well-being of his own village. His decision was a topic of much discussion among the ninja in the village, with such ruthlessness coming as a great surprise from someone as young as Jin was. His peers alienated him further, not trusting Jin. Though the elders felt that whilst his decision might be justified his impersonal nature might have made him more of a liability than an asset.
Because of this they assigned him to work as an apprentice in the administration of the village: helping oversee village politics and finances in a manner that would potentially lead him to become an aid to future Kage. Though Jin, as usual, took this decision without complaint and accepted his placement in to such a passive position he felt cheated that his abilities were being wasted at what was essentially a desk job. He was a trained killer and he had spent years honing skills designed to kill so how was he supposed to protect his village with those skills from behind a pen and paper?
