Siku Maboroshi
Never did Siku ever really have plans, or events scheduled of the like. His life was filled mostly with doing missions for Kirigakure all by himself, training, or talking to his mother about his deceased father, among other topics they discuss. But the main reason for his lack of activity was that there weren't many people Siku knew, or those he could trust. This village has proven it's notorious reputation time and time again for deadly shinobi who garner respect from all the lands. Siku didn't like to think about meeting them, though. It was dangerous to be around such malevolent figures, especially when they didn't hold respect for the value of life. Some would gladly be the harbinger of your death for giving them the wrong look.
Siku was merciful, he didn't want to slaughter people. Innocence was something Siku believed in. Those who don't want to fight, or simply couldn't even if they wanted, were people to be left alone. Killing for the sake of seeing blood was a waste, and it was to be shamed upon in Siku's mind, more than most anything else. What was the point? It wasn't amusing, it was tragic. If there is no reward, plot, or reason to take a life, then the life should be spared. That's why, as Siku headed out the door of his home, he wore a scorned look upon his face.
Since he woke up, Siku felt like he needed to meet somebody already. A fellow shinobi of Kirigakure who could give him a few tips and pointers, overall a positive influence and a good comrade. That's all he could really ask for, right? Heading down the street on this misty morning, the village had few passerby. The fog rolled in low to the ground, but was thick. Siku almost stumbled over something on his way out the door, before staying in the center of the street to avoid debris. A single person passed on Siku's left, with a Kirigakure headband over their forehead. Siku wore his tied to his left shoulder, overlapping a short-sleeved black kimono robe with a relaxed fit over his torso. He wore matching hakama pants and geta sandals on his legs and feet, both black in color. Black bandages were tied from his shin and knee, down to the pads under his foot where more wrapping tied the geta sandal to his foot and leg for an even more firm fitting. It may look unorthodox to others, but Siku enjoyed his attire all the same. Black was a color that he felt suited him.
Finally reaching an open part of the village, surrounded by places selling food, shinobi clothing and gear, Siku sat himself on a bench. He had his a single pack of kunai on him, which he had pulled both kunai out. He slid their edges against one another, to reinforce the sharpness of the edge. The grinding and scraping of the metal echoed and screeched out from Siku's position, likely causing some people to stray away. He was practically playing with weapons in the open, which wasn't exactly normal for him. He hadn't used them in a while though, and he enjoyed their dynamic point. It started wide and came to a fine tip, giving the utensil a good amount of weight and durability to it. These were used long before Siku had been around, and since their birth as a weapon, they have more than grown to be used by all likes of shinobi, rogue or aligned.
Looking at an opposing wooden bench, Siku wondered if he could make the throw. It was an impulsive action, Siku whipping his right hand forward when his eyes met the bench. As he let go, releasing the kunai, a large figure began to pass Siku by. Everything slowed down, his heartbeat pausing before a rush of adrenaline caused it to double or triple it's pace. Siku's pupils restricted whilst his eyes widened, regretting the fact that he had done what he just did. It was unlike him to make such a mistake, he really messed up this time. Siku could only help but wonder the following events as his eyes traced the kunai moving forward in slow motion. He felt as if his heart and stomach were sinking, and didn't even realize that he had stopped breathing.
" Shit! "

Siku Maboroshi
Siku, after having taken a D ranked mission and found it's reward not quite large enough to satisfy him, sought out for something with a higher payout. Taking on a C ranked mission, Siku had to help out the students at the academy since the teachers were having such difficulty keeping their attention and getting them to learn efficiently. He was to tell them stories of war & death, and teach them a jutsu or two. Siku only knew of his father's death as a Shinobi, so he would only be able to share that with the students.
It would be very personal for him, and the kids could even mock his father, but Siku felt he needed to be able to tell the stories of his father without losing his composure. A hot-headed, or over-emotional Shinobi wasn't a good thing to have around, or to be. They became reckless, incompetent, or even distracted. As per the jutsu Siku had to teach them, he knew what he had been taught by the academy, and figured they needed to know the basics more than anything else. Approaching the academy, Siku felt the nostalgia returning to him as he opened the doors and stepped inside. He knew which room he was expected in, and it was three doors down to the right. It took him under a minute to reach the door, as he grabbed the handle and twisted it, pulling it open towards him. It was silent in the hall, but once the door opened he heard the extreme noise of the classroom come to a sudden halt as all eyes were on him. Siku looked with a questioning face as the classroom followed him from the door to the teacher's side. Siku greeted the teacher, shaking his hand and asking about his task.
" Hello Senpai, I understand you need some assistance. Where would you like me to start? "
The man, whose Chuunin vest was more than obvious, looked at Siku with a sort of jealousy and amazement. The classroom was silent up until Siku stopped talking, when a student decided to say something smart.
" He can start by making us lunch. That's probably all he is good for. "
The Chuunin looked up at the student, and so did Siku. The class chuckled and giggled away, the Chuunin trying to get them quiet.
" Come on class quiet down. Siku Maboroshi is here to tell you some stories about being a Shinobi, and also teach you a jutsu or two. "
" He doesn't even look threatening. I bet he hasn't killed anyone yet, either. This is a waste of my time- "
Siku approached the student with a sort of gloom appearance upon his face, his lips and eyes dead straight, his head tilted down towards the ground. When he reached the student, he grabbed one of the two Gou sword handles on his back and stomped on his right food to hold him in place. He struggled and scoffed in pain, but he couldn't budge.
" Y'know, I don't carry around these swords to harvest crops. But you are right, and I am proud to admit I have not yet killed another person. It's not something you should feel glorified about though. You should feel guilty when you take someone's live. Their friends, family, all bonds they had with the deceased person will begin to fade. A feeling of hate will nurture itself within them. And then they may seek revenge on you, and the cycle of murder will never cease. But if we live and let live, we may find peace for a time. It is much more meaningful for a Kage to acquire peace for his village than to wage a war. Even if they won the war. "
Siku let go of his sword and lifted his foot, the student pressing his lips together, although stopped himself from saying anymore. Siku hoped that this bit of wisdom would reach to the students deeply, so that they sought peace rather than war. Returning to the front of the class, Siku then began to speak of a story. The story of his father, Retsumoto Maboroshi.
" I, along with my mother, are the only two members of the Maboroshi family to this day. My father was a Shinobi for Kirigakure, along with his brother Satsuki. My father's name was Retsumoto, and he was a fairly skilled fighter. He was known for his use of the sword mixed with Ninjutsu, allowing his weapon to inflict damage well beyond it's physical capabilities. I will tell you of his achievements, and his endeavors. However, I require complete silence from all of you in order to tell these stories. Is that understood? "
Siku scanned the room, looking at all the eyes which were plastered on him. They were just that, silent, as they nodded, or simply continued to stare at him. Resuming from there, Siku wanted to give them as big a picture of his father's history as he could. It would be a long one, but it would be well worth it.
" Alright, where to begin....On his very first mission... "Teach Me, Teach Me!

Siku Maboroshi
He had selected the girl who originally asked Siku to teach them, since it seemed only fair for her to go second. Maybe she should have been first, but that other kid was set against Siku, for whatever reason. Maybe he didn't appreciate feeling like a lowly student? Maybe he wanted to be the one in front of the class, telling stories and teaching jutsu? It was only something Siku thought for briefly, focusing on the girls face as she stood before him.
" I-it's not gonna be scary, is it? I don't know if I wanna try just yet... "
Siku chuckled lightly for a moment, trying to to seem as though he was laughing at her. It was funny to him how scared she really was of Genjutsu, even though he had described what he was specifically doing to them at the moment. Although, with his mind on the subject, it was quite a terrifying thought to be in a Genjutsu. However, plenty ninja can't tell it's an illusion, which is why it is so scary. When somethings seems so real, why would you think it's fake? There were only certain giveaways, mistakes in Genjutsu that could be capitalized on.
" It'll be alright, I promise you. I can stop it at any given moment too, so if you get too scared I will stop. Nothing bad is gonna happen though, just your legs appearing to sink into the ground. Kinda like sinking in quicksand, but it's just your mind playing games on you. Now once you're under the effects of my Genjutsu, forge the handseal I showed you. Then tell me just how fast everything goes back to normal. you ready? "
For a small moment her eyes wavered and seemed to pour out uncertainty, but then she bit her lip and a wave of change came over her. Almost an aggressive facial expression overcame her as she nodded towards Siku, getting into a sort of stance as she anticipated Siku's Genjutsu. Bringign his hands up, Siku repeated the handseals with haste, noticing the confidence keave her face as his handseals were executed swiftly. Once his jutsu activated, Siku awaited her expression, also wondering how quickly she would escape. It took a short period of time, but she moved her right foot and then looked down at with with a somewhat shocked face. She was more than likely noticing it sink by now, and resisting to the sinking feeling would likely occur. Given that she started to almost whine in discomfort, soon enough the girl forged the handseal and got close to the dirt, pressing against it to make sure it was solid.
" I don't like that, although it's a pretty cool trick. It makes me wonder what else Genjutsu could do...I hope it's a lost art. "
Siku smirked, eyes squinting as he felt a sort of loneliness for his deceiving talents. Amateur they might be, but it was something he took interest in at an early age. He wanted to cause people to see themselves dying to him, that was his goal for Genjutsu. To produce his own technique that showed his opponents what he would consider as a glimpse in the future. But there was always more than that when one had creativity on their side.
The little girl by then had returned with the rest of her classmates, Siku selecting another student to demonstrate on. This process repeated several times, each student having their own different comment or input on Genjutsu, it's uses, it's deceiving nature, many things were said and shared between him and the students. One asked Siku if he knew how to fight without Genjutsu, seeing as how easy it was to avoid the talent specifically.
" I know other ways of combat, but I prefer Genjutsu. My next interest is to perfect my skills with Suiton techniques. Out of all the elements, I like to think Suiton is one of the most versatile, in terms of offensive and defensive capabilities. This village knows plenty of cases where Suiton has proven itself more than formidable in open combat. I hope to be in one of them. "
Returning to the front of all the students, with the entire class having escaped Siku's Genjutsu with Kai by now, he had been thoroughly wiped of his energy. He didn't even like forcing himself to stand in front of them, feeling as though he might collapse. However, the Chuunin had gotten up, and stood beside Siku, yawning as he put his left arm on Siku's right shoulder.
" So, looks like you got that out of the way. That just about does it though, I think. Anymore and I won't be able to cover some things in the classroom that they are supposed to get done with today. Thanks for your assistance, really. I'm sure they enjoyed your stay, sorry I treated it like a break. You're welcome back to tell them some other stories, hopefully by then they will be centered around your feats. Stay well, you're dismissed. "
With that, Siku nodded to his Senpai, before looking at the class. Some were distracted and talking, but the ones paying attention to the Chuunin's words and Siku's departure looked at him with a sort of unhappiness. Smiling to those who looked, Siku waved to them before turning his back. Maybe he would come back, maybe not. He couldn't say for sure, but he would try a different mission next time. This was a good experience, and interacting with the village's learning youth was fun, but Siku felt there was a life of adventure he was avoiding, or unable to discover for himself. He should join a team, and see the many vast lands for him to roam and travel. For Siku, it was the bonds you made on such adventures that you want to keep, not the memories of that adventure.
END OF MISSION.
Siku Maboroshi
" ...As a Genin, my father, Retsumoto Maboroshi, had a team of three Genin, similar to nowadays. Along with them, there was a Chuunin team leader. The three Genin consisted of Retsumoto, his brother Satsuki, and a third male Genin named Tetsuya. Retsumoto and Satsuki had great chemistry, and Tetsuya was the type of person who asserted himself, liked to take charge. On their first mission, they were supposed to locate a foreign Shinobi with an unmarked headband who had been causing disturbances, and even stealing from merchants and other sorts of travelers entering into Kirigakure. As they found him, they caught him in the act of murdering someone carrying a large rucksack on their back. He reached into the sack and pulled from it something he seemingly desired, finally taking notice to the Chuunin and three other young Shinobi. He called to them with a warning. "
"If you move any closer, this one death will turn to five. Make your choice, but do it quickly. I'm getting away.
" He then began to walk away, into the forest off the known path. The Chuunin had two choices, to be known as the coward who preserved the life of three Genin, or to chase the perpetrator. He was prideful, and he was not familiar with these students. He decided to chase the man with his team. The Chuunin leaped forward, the three Genin following from behind. As they entered the forest, many branches and leaves rustled violently, and soon the Chuunin shot his eyes all over and then towards the three of his students, with a shocked expression and his lips moving open. Before he could say anything, it was too late. Nothing, at least to their eyes, had killed their leader. But his throat was slit and blood trickled down his neck and onto his Chuunin vest. Let's pause there for a question to the class. Do any of you know what happened to the Chuunin? Any ideas? "
A student in the back, who had been silent all along, raised his hand for permission to speak. Siku nodded towards him, wondering if he knew what had happened.
" Did the man go invisible and then attack the Chuunin from behind? "
" That's a fine guess, and it's closer to the reality than you think. but no, that's not what happened. Anyone else want to take a guess? "
The class looked at each other, questioning if anyone knew the answer. Then they looked back at Siku as he began to talk again, seemingly interested about the answer. Little did Siku know the kid who attempted a guess was actually acknowledged as one of the smartest kids in the class. That is, book smarts.
" It was Genjutsu, something I am quite familiar with myself. He had tricked them, and as he ran into the forest, he utilized his Genjutsu. They didn't know where he was, they couldn't. Even if he stood before him, they would only see the forest's moving leaves and branches. Back to the story though...looking at their dying Chuunin, they froze in place. Tetsuya, Retsumoto, and Satsuki all looked at each other with fear. But one of them broke the stare, and moved over to their leader's side. He picked up his head, and his mouth was moving slightly. He saw Retsumoto holding him, and he tried to tell him what was going on. It was in whispers, and finally Retsumoto lent his ear to the Chuunin, and he learned of the employed trickery. Immediately, he used a jutsu known as Kai, which I will teach you all after the story. It allows you to escape a Genjutsu by disrupting your chakra flow. He could see the still forest, and the figure of the man morphing back into a tree. Retsumoto warned his two other pupils, making sure they weren't targeted by the man before they used Kai to break out of it themselves. That's when they huddled together, eyes looking out for the man, should he appear again. Tetsuya spoke first, before Satsuki or Retsumoto had any ideas. This is roughly what he had said to them..."
" ...Hey, now that we can see normally, why don't we use one of us as bait to lure him out? How about you, Satsuki? You're the fastest, you could dodge anything he threw at you. "
" That was when my father Retsumoto smacked Tetsuya, and soon a small brawl broke out between them. Retsumoto felt like Tetsuya would have gotten his brother Satsuki killed if they would have pursued the perpetrator any further. Having handled Tetsuya with a rage within him, he rallied Satsuki and Tetsuya back to the village to report what had happened. So, what do you guys think of what happened? Do you think Tetsuya was right in wanting to go after him? Do you think Retsumoto was scared of dying? Tell me, one at a time please. "
With that, the classroom lit up with chatter. Siku raised his hands and they all quieted down, pointing to the girl he thought had started to speak first.
" I think Tetsuya was too reckless and Retsumoto made the right choice. It didn't seem like they would be much of a chance if a Chuunin had been killed by the man. "
Siku smiled and nodded his head in agreement with her response, hoping she would learn well enough to become a Genin. Her head was in the right place, she didn't think of it as a matter of pride, or revenge. It was simple. Could they really take him on? OF course not. Siku pointed to the next student to speak, listening to his opinion.
" Tetsuya might have been wrong, but running back to the village to tell your superiors is a prime example of cowardice. "
Siku nodded and rubbed his chin before he offered a rebuttal. Not that the kid was wrong, it was to a degree an act of cowardice.
" Well, what if they all died that day? It would have been quite some time before anyone knew what happened to them, and the trail the man left would have been cold by the amount of time that would have passed before they would be found in the forest. It was the wise man's choice, not the brave man's. Live to fight another day, is what many like to say. Really, you gotta ask yourselves though...is the mission worth dying for? A small amount of pay and a pat on your back? That's the thing, is it your pride you are fighting for? Is it money? Is it your right to live that is being threatened? Either way, it would have been a waste for them to have all died. Anyone else?"
Even though the class seemed so noisy a moment ago, nobody else raised their hand to speak. But one of them did blurt out, interested in Siku teaching them a jutsu, one that he had talked about.
" Mister Maboroshi, can you teach us that Kai jutsu you were talking about? I am scared of what might happen if we don't all learn it today. Genjutsu sounds really, really dangerous. I want to be ready to use that jutsu when I need to. Please teach us? "
Siku smiled at her, laughing in his mind. He was going to teach them how to get out of Genjutsu, his primary means of jutsu use as of now. Regardless, they were a part of his village, the youth of it. They needed to be proteted. They would be Genin soon enough, and they needed to know this jutsu so that nothing in the story he told would ever happen to them.
" Okay, I will teach you all how to use Kai. First, we will need to go outside. Some fresh air will do us all some good, especially after that old story. "
Exiting the door of the class, Siku, along with the rest of the students, walked into the hall and letting them lead the way to their playground, or whatever it was. Looking in the class, Siku saw the Chuunin sitting at his desk, seemingly bummed out. Siku made a saddened face, feeling as though he was taking all of his work and turning it into nothing.
" Senpai, are you coming? "
The Chuunin looked over to Siku, and then seemed to snap back into reality from a daze. He got up and began walking to the door, closing it on his way out.
" Yeah sure, just no more stories of Chuunin dying. "
Siku laughed in his mind, his previous thoughts of why the Chuunin made such a face being wrong. He simply didn't like hearing about Chuunin dying, since they seemed to be most prone to the risk of death. It was because Chuunin, unlike Genin, could take missions that have a high risk threat. But they were just Genin only so long ago, and they weren't always the proper material capable of making a Jounin-class Shinobi. Regardless, Siku followed him as he saw the last of the students heading outside. A soft breeze rolled in through the open door, inviting Siku with it's slightly cool temperature. He wasn't too keen on teaching jutsu to academy students, but a mission was a mission And again, this certainly beat garbage duty.
Technique Name Tsuyoki [Bull]
Rank: D
Range: 10 meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 1
Chakra Consumption: Low
Description: Looking forward with an enemy within line of sight, Siku is able to cause an illusion of his own physical form rushing in directly at them, unsheathing his two Gou swords. In reality, he is hiding off to the side, or sitting up in a tree, while this fake decoy distracts the enemy with a one-man ambush. It is great for a quick distraction, and can startle the weak-minded quite easily.
Technique Name Momikesu [Smother]
Rank: C
Range: 10 Meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 1
Chakra Consumption: Mid
Description: Instead of needing multiple seals, Siku only needs to make a single handseal to prepare this. Along with that requirment, Siku must initiate eye contact to initiate the Genjutsu. Once eye contact is made whilst making the handseal, the designated target will begin to feel like they are being smothered by some sort of invisible mass. Essentially a way of making them feel like they are being asphyxiated, it is supposed to cause a sharp scare and distraction for his opponent. This only lasts for a maximum of 2 posts, including the post it was initiated.
Technique Name Yoromeki [Stagger]
Rank: C
Range: 10 Meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 3
Chakra Consumption: Mid
Description: Unlike his other Genjutsu, this one causes his opponent to feel like they are losing balance, as if their equilibrium was out of whack, simply by being within a 10 meter distance of Siku. It feels as though their body is naturally making them sway and move with an unorthodox posture, making their movements at least more sloppy, if not causing them to have a temporary opening for an attack.
Technique Name Gyakuten [Reverse]
Rank: C
Range: 10 Meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 1
Chakra Consumption: Mid
Description: While holding the handseal, Siku must initiate eye contact with his target(s). This causes the individual(s) Siku is targeting to feel and see as though they had just turned around and are now looking in the direction behind them. However they are still staring in the direction of Siku, blinded by the Genjutsu. The confusing part is, many try to turn around while in the Genjutsu, thus giving their back to Siku. When they do turn around while in this Genjutsu, they see Siku even though he is not actually there.
Technique Name Zōen Butai [Reinforcements]
Rank: B
Range: 50 Meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 3
Chakra Consumption: x2 Mid
Description: This Genjutsu is by no means a battle oriented technique. Instead of making a distraction, or causing them not to see something, it causes the illusion of several Kirigakure Shinobi with Chuunin/Jounin attire. A total of 5 other Shinobi can be falsely visualized, Siku customizing their appearance to faces he has seen in Kirigakure Chuunin/Jounin attire. Even their chakra feels powerful, and gives Siku's opponents the idea that he has severely outnumbered and outmatched them. Those who touch the shinobi, or accomplish hit them with something, will notice the deceiving trickery. However, Siku can make them talk, and move, with different voices and weapons. This more often than not intimidates the opponent(s) enough for them to flee from Siku, who is usually alone when using this technique. The reason the range is so large is due to Siku needing to make their introduction and arrival appear realistic. Random figures suddenly appearing out of thin air is suspicious, so Siku makes them come out from nearby forests, trees, or anything in the scenery where allies of his could approach from. However, if the opponent(s) are looking at Siku, he can even make them spawn from behind them, causing them to feel rather foolish for not being able to notice them sneaking from behind.
Technique Name Shinkai Kaikō [Deep Sea Trench]
Rank: A
Range: 10 meters
Type: Offensive
Handseals: 4
Chakra Consumption: High
Description: This is one of Siku's favorite custom Genjutsu he has created. Often wondering about how it would feel like to be under the immense pressure of water at depths where it is void of light, pitch black, Siku decided to make a Genjutsu that acts similar to being at such a depth under water. By using this Genjutsu, Siku merely needs to be looking at his opponent, not even eye contact is needed. By focusing on the opponent, he can cause them to fall into this illusion. Once it starts, they see floodwater rapids rushing in towards them, soon engulfed in it. Once over their head, it causes them to feel as though they are sinking, appearing so as well, seeing dark depths below them if they look that direction. Meanwhile, they also feel the water pressing up against them, most often too scared to try and breathe. If they did, and noticed they could breathe, it would plausibly cause them to notice the potential reason for such a trick. Once they reach the bottom depths, which takes two turns under the effects of this Genjutsu, the user feels an immense amount of pressure over them, almost like an entire sea was holding them down. Capable of bringing opponents to their hands/knees, this causes the majority to stand still in fright.
