Genin & Garbage [Mission,p]

Siku Maboroshi

Siku had just taken his first mission from the mission compound of Kirigakure, and with it he found himself doing a very lame job. He was to clean up trash and garbage that spoiled the streets, dispose of debris and decay from buildings which had collapsed, but that still wasn't the worst part. Along with all of this, Siku had to dispose of the dead bodies which were rotting, their stench causing Siku to cough and gag as he came to his first corpse before anything else. Siku was indeed by himself, but he was by no means doing this alone. There were at least two other Shinobi of Kirigakure roaming around doing this discouraging mission. In their own village, this is what they had Genin doing, more often than not. Siku looked at the corpse as it rotted, not wanting to touch it. However, he had no means of transporting the body, until he looked over to a small fruit and vegetable stand down the street. Looking at the man, he saw a cart with wheels that could hold plenty of corpses, or debris. Approaching the stand, Siku began to ask for a favor.

" Excuse me sir, I am trying to clean the village for a mission, could I please borrow that cart? I don't think the decaying bodies would do well if I try to hold them up, they might even fall apart on me. Please, sir? I'll rent or buy it if I must. "

The man looked at Siku, and then seemed to ponder on it for a minute. Siku pulled out 50 Ryo and threw it onto his stand, next to the cashier. He smirked, as he waved Siku off, nodding in agreement that he could use the cart. Holding the two wooden handles while the cart and wheels were pulled by Siku, he ran over to the first dead corpse that he saw up the street. Lifting it up by the legs and behind the shoulders, Siku dropped it into the cart and lifted the handles to waist height once again. Jogging forward, he began to break a sweat as he came closer to another corpse, this time lying under debris from a fallen building. Tossing and rummaging through the debris like he was in a hurry to save the mans life, Siku picked up the soon uncovered corpse, and tossed it into the cart. That was when he noticed a small arm revealed further into the debris, and he had a gut feeling that he wouldn't like to see whose it was. Returning to the debris, Siku tossed and threw large rocks, and even rolled larger pieces of debris that felt like boulders off of the fallen building. Finally he could make out the small boys figure, and it was almost too obvious that he was more than likely a fallen Genin. Siku swallowed in a sort of intimidation, always finding himself looking at the face of death, which now he could see the very faces of the dead.

Placing the third Shinobi corpse inside his cart, Siku picked up the handles and tried to resume his fast-forwarded pace. Unfortunately the weight was too much, and he was moving at the speed of an excited walk, at best. Siku knew where to take them, where they were to be buried, or maybe even incinerated. First, however, they may try to identify the dead before doing any such thing. Siku didn't really care though, he was just the clean-up crew. It took him quite some time to reach the destination, and he could see the different piles of "waste" assorted into varying groups. there was already a pile of bodies, Siku knew there was at least a dozen in it. Then a large pile of debris from fallen structures was towering over all else, and another pile of trash which was already being disposed of by a different group of workers, not marked as Shinobi. Walking backwards, Siku lined his three corpses into the pile of other deceased Shinobi, and then lifted the handles up and over his shoulders, causing them to roll and drop onto the pile. you could hear the dead weight, and instead of looking back, Siku lowered the handles to his waste, and went back to his jogging pace, heading towards all the debris he had just moved around. It certainly was going to be a busy day. Not to mention he was certainly going to need to bathe all night to get rid of this smell. Even the cart behind him, moving forward as the wind pushed the scent away, lingered into Siku's nose and caused him slight suffering.

Mission info: The village is in shambles. Trash litters the streets, buildings lay broken, and the bodies of fallen warriors decay openly in the roads. A team of shinobi is needed to clear the debris and gather the dead.

Looking forth as he ventured back into the town, it took Siku roughly half the amount of time to reach the destination of rubble where he had just excavated the corpses a moment prior. Stopping at the rubble, he lowered the handles of the cart so it could sit on pegs, while Siku began picking up rocks and throwing them into the cart. Choosing to pick up the smaller pieces of rubble first, he made sure to go around and pick up anything at least the size of a marble or bigger. It was tedious work, and took Siku more time to go through all of the smaller debris than it did to transport the weight of the bodies to the area of the pile. After the better half of an hour passed, Siku had leaned over to pick up so many smaller rocks that his back was starting to irritate him, though only slightly. Now that he had cleared up the bits and pieces, Siku moved on to the larger pieces. Picking up the first one, it was severely heavy. Walking over to his cart, careful with each step, he dropped it in the back, and watched it begin to tip backwards, the wheels helping it roll that way. Sliding the rock towards the front, it applied more pressure on the pegs than the wheels, causing it to remain stationary, and fairly balanced.

Going back to the rubble, Siku took his selection carefully, picking up smaller rock this time to make sure it didn't repeat a similar situation. Walking slowly over to the cart, Siku could feel two beads of sweat trickling down his temples as he lifted it up and over the side fence of the cart. Keeping hold of it as he put it down into the cart, it didn't seem to cause any problems. Letting go, Siku figured he could fit one more rock similar to that size. Turning around, Siku walked forward, scanning the big pieces of concrete and rock for one he could put in without any worries. Sizing up just the right piece of debris, Siku lifted it and could feel it was much more light than the other two. Walking over with a hastened pace, Siku put the rock into the cart, and stood at it's front. He had a feeling it would be heavier than the corpses, and so he made sure to bend his knees down as he took hold of the handle. Pushing upwards with the muscles in his legs, instead of primarily using his shoulders and back, Siku could feel just how much more heavy it was.

Truthfully, he wasn't sure if he would make the trip to the pile of debris, it was that heavy. Regardless, Siku had a mission he wanted to complete, and so that's what he set forth to do. Trudging along slowly but surely, it took Siku so many steps that he began counting after 10 minutes of walking. Roughly an hour later, Siku had counted thousands of steps. He could see the pile just 50 yards away and closing. His legs were wobbling, his arms strained, his body perspiring to try and cool him down. It didn't help that he was in a black robe either, practically conducting the heat of the sun. Regardless, Siku made it to the pile, having advanced 50 yards much more quickly, the excitement of seeing the pile giving him a short burst of adrenaline. Backing the cart to the pile, Siku tried to lift it backwards as he did for the corpses, but he didn't have the energy or strength to tilt it up high enough. So instead, Siku pushed against the side of the cart, the debris spilling out as the cart was knocked over. Pulling it upright, Siku looked around for other Shinobi. the piles were much bigger now, and Siku felt like he was almost slacking. He didn't know how many others were helping out, but it seemed there was plenty of work to go around. Heaving his cart along with him and panting, Siku was stopped by a Jounin who suddenly appeared in front of him, Siku completely unaware of her presence until she spoke to him.

" Hey you, the rubble and debris of the area you were at is already in that pile back there. You can relax, all that needs cleaned now is waste from trash and littering. And you might not want to give that cart back to that man, it reeks. After you fill that cart and dump it here with trash, that will end your part of this task. Then you can go report that your mission is accomplished. "

Siku nodded and smiled, his eyes squinting from a sort of happiness, along with beads of sweat bombarding his eyes as he used a arm to wipe his forehead. " Thank you very much, Jounin-Senpai. "

Facing forward as he headed back into the village with an ecstatic expression on his face, Siku pushed himself to move quickly. Entering the streets of the village, Siku knew he should go street-to-street, instead of scanning for trash and moving around randomly. There were many streets Siku saw, but in the distance he saw a Shinobi cleaning the garbage much further away. Counting the roads up until that person, Siku counted 6. Moving down the first road, he walked down it and picked up a few cans and bottles which were laying empty on the street. Some smelled of sweet sugar, and others of strong liquor. Maintaining his hastened pace down the road, he reached the end and picked up some paper scraps and a plastic utensil. He wondered how all of these things got here, who had been using them specifically, and why they decided to litter the streets. Could it be that foreigners were the main culprit? Possibly some young brats too lazy or snobby to place these things in the disposal cans? Regardless, Siku turned to the next street, making a 180 degree turn to his left.

Essentially heading in the direction he just came, but on a different path, Siku noticed a similar scene of trash. Many cans, even ones old enough to have rusted lined the sides of the street, and rolled around noisily with each gust of wind that passed through. Along with that, Siku saw not whole glass bottles, but one that were shattered. Carefully taking his time to pay attention and make sure he didn't cut himself, Siku placed the glass into the cart and lifted it, resuming forth. Newspapers from last week fluttered to Siku's left, with a pile of what appeared to be dehydrated vomit. Siku winced with disgust, picking it up by the corners of the paper and dropping it in the cart. He buried it under the cans, hoping it wouldn't move around in the cart and get on his back.

Walking forward with the cart now, the street was now void of waste, and he came to the end of his second street. This time taking a right turn, he headed down the street with a look of disdain. Right away Siku saw plenty of garbage, papers flickered and waved in the wind, more broken bottles, and a pile of noodles, likely from ramen, all over the place. Knowing now what he had to do, Siku didn't hesitate to get his hands dirty. Besides, he could always take a series of baths once he got home. Picking up the papers first, tracking them down as they practically ran away from him with the wind, Siku used them to pick up the broken glass without cutting his hands up. This allowed him to even use the paper by bending it and scooping up the glass, cleaning it up that much faster. Pouring the glass into the cart and keeping hold of the paper, Siku then began to scoop up the noodles. They had an awful smell, and mold had begun to grow on them. It didn't take long however, as Siku placed dropped the rest of the garbage into his cart.

Resuming forward down this street, he didn't notice anymore waste on it all the way to the end. He smiled at the right corner of his lips, making another 180 degree turn to move on to his fourth street to clean. Yet again, Siku's grin showed, this time even wider than before. As he walked down this road, there was no trash to be discovered as of yet. As he kept up a fair pace, he noticed a purple piece of clothing sitting on the ground to his right. A person from the window above saw Siku heading towards it, and soon she called out, hoping for him to leave it be. Picking it up as the words reached his ears, he looked up at her and then held up the purple garments. That's when he realized it was a pair of females underwear, and obviously they were hers. Siku blushed and turned away, setting them on the doorstep leading into the building she inhabited.

Exiting this street, Siku arrived to the next street. He walked down it with a more hesitant approach, unsure if he would try to pick up any more cloth-like materials in fear of what they could be. More cans and other sorts of containers lined the sides of the streets, Siku picking them up one by one as he went along. A piece of fruit that wasn't fully eaten laid to his left, it's appearance rather shrunken and dehydrated, however bright enough in color to have Siku guess it was from earlier this day, perhaps early morning. Resuming his route, Siku didn't notice any other trash except for a single plastic utensil which he placed in the cart at the end of this road.

Having covered what he noticed to be all but one of the streets he had left, Siku noticed the Jounin from earlier approaching him. She didn't seem to be looking at him, in fact she was toying and staring at her nails. Then she got close enough to hear Siku's cart wheels rolling behind him, and looked up, asking him a question.

" Where are you headed? The rest of the streets are spotless, or were already cleaned before you got here. You can turn back now, and dump that cart along with the trash. Ya might also want to avoid that guy you borrowed the cart from for some time, hope he forgets, y'know? Make sure ya go get that reward too, later. "

Siku nodded, with a smile on his face. He turned around and began hauling the cart to the dump site. It wasn't that far away, but his exhaustion had only accumulated by multitudes. He breathed heavily, panting, and sweat rolled down his forehead. His black robe was somewhat drenched, dampened by his perspiration. Taking his good time to rest his body a bit from the constant strain, a cool gale of wind rolled bast him and blew up and into his robe. It cooled him off, and it blew the sweat that rolled down his forehead and temples off into the air behind him. It took some time to reach the three mounds of "waste", or rather the two. The pile of corpses was already gone, Siku curious as to what they did with them. Dropping the cart off by knocking it over to dump the garbage, he let the cart in the pile too in hopes that they would dispose of it. Stretching his arms up into the air, and leaning over to touch his toes, Siku felt great without carrying the extra weight behind him. Heading into his village, Siku headed in to report that he was done with his mission, but more importantly to claim his reward. Any day you got paid was a good day.
