There are hundreds of thousands of strange metal 'gateways' - artificial arches left behind by some long lost tribe - dotting the innumerable islands of Mizu No Kuni. Upon closer study by curious natives, it was noted that each gate was slightly different, and that this difference in the arch architecture changed each day and night, to seemingly no pattern whatsoever. Within the densest fog of Mizu No Kuni, flickering from one pocket of skewed topography to another, are the infamous Heavy and Light Gates leading to Kirigakure no Sato. Only by walking through the gates in the correct order, the correct number of times gains one access to the Village, momentarily accessible through an adjustment of the Weather Altering Territory Enclosure Relay (W.A.T.E.R.). Through a haze of receding moisture, the physical entrance reveals itself, a revolving underwater shell leading through its oasis shield. It is one of the ten infamous Doublegates, whose design was gifted to the Ten Shinobi Nations by the Village of Rain after the Great War.


The physical entrance to the Village Hidden In The Mist is also guarded by a particular group of shinobi, who possess a special cultural rank within Kirigakure no Sato. The Kuriarare Clan (meaning 'Chestnut Hail') has long been known as the guardian clan of the Hidden Mist, its members symbolically becoming the Gates as well - adding to its legend as 'the' Triplegate. Only these ninja are aware of the underwater tunnel system that empties into Kirigakure no Sato safely, and they defend this secret with their lives. They wander Mizu No Kuni in a perpetual stroll, in time with their Hidden Villages floating patterns, as well as the seemingly random oscillations of its two vital archways.
