Medical-nin (医療忍, Iryō-nin) are ninja who specialize in medical treatment and use of medical-oriented techniques to heal others. Becoming a medical-nin requires high intelligence and excellent chakra control. A medical-nin is trained to avoid getting injured in any way, for the reason that if they are injured, then there would be nobody to heal the other members of their team. Medical-nin accompany other ninja on high ranking missions to increase the success rate of the mission and overall survival rate of the squad.

Medical-nin make use of the Mystical Palm Technique — a technique used to heal comrades and can also be used in surgery. It allows them to make precise incisions and then doubles as a means to heal a wound. For more serious injuries, multiple medical-nin can combine their efforts with techniques which use a portion of the patient's own body as a medium to help the healing process. The knowledge of a medical-nin can be used for a variety of purposes.

There is an official system of the medical ninja along with laws that students and other medical-nin alike should abide by. The four rules that govern medical-nin are:

• First clause (第一項, Daiikkō): "No medic ninja shall ever stop medical treatment until the lives of their party members have come to an end."
• Second clause (第二項, Dainikō): "No medic ninja shall ever stand on the front lines."
• Third clause (第三項, Daisankō): "No medic ninja shall ever die until they are the last of their platoon."
• Fourth clause (第四項, Daiyonkō): "Only those medic ninja who have mastered the Strength of a Hundred Technique of the ninja art Creation Rebirth are permitted to discard the above-mentioned laws."

Chakura no Mesu (Chakra Scalpel)

Description: This medical technique forms one's chakra into a small, sharp blade. This can then be used for highly accurate incisions necessary for surgeries and anatomical dissections. Unlike regular scalpels, the chakra scalpel can make cuts inside the body without actually creating an open wound, limiting the risks of an infection. The chakra scalpel can also be used offensively to inflict internal damage, although it requires great precision to be effective. Because of this requirement, using the chakra scalpel offensively is highly unusual. In heated combat, even the greatest medical-nin won't be able to exert the precision needed to target the vital spots, but it can still effectively cut muscle tissues and tendons, rendering the target immobile. Advanced medics have displayed enough skill with the technique to be able to deliver fatal cuts that can target vital spots, even cutting through wood and flesh with ease.



Shikon no Jutsu (Dead Soul Technique)

Description: The user performs surgery on a corpse to temporarily make its heart beat again. The user then uses their chakra to both control the body's movements and to hide all signs of the surgery, creating the appearance that the body is a live person. For believability, the medic takes the extra step of erasing the body's odor so that others won't notice its smell. Certain medics like to use the corpses they control as body doubles, altering their faces with plastic surgery so that they look like themselves. Because of how precise the chakra control is needed for this technique to work, medics usually only control one corpse at a time, which becomes inert once they moves far enough away.

Description: This technique combines ninjutsu, chemistry, and medical knowledge, thus requiring fine chakra control and advanced ability in medical ninjutsu. The user converts chakra in their body into a special chemical that they then exhale from their mouth. When the chemical comes into contact with the air, it becomes a cloud of poison. Breathing in even a small amount of the poison will cause serious health altering effects, causes victims to become paralyzed after exposure, and eventually leading to potential death.



Saikan Chūshutsu no Jutsu (Delicate Illness Extraction Technique)

Description: When a person has been afflicted by a pathogen or toxin, this medical ninjutsu can be used to draw out the agent and heal the damage. The cause of the illness is first determined by perceiving disturbances in the patient's chakra. Then, using a chakra scalpel, an incision is made near the affected part. Using their chakra, the medical-nin pushes a large volume of a medicinal fluid through the incision. The fluid then draws the poison out of the affected part(s) and serves as a medium through which the poison is suspended and then forced out of the person's body. This technique thus removes the poison, while simultaneously repairing the damage caused by the poison. The process itself is extremely painful and requires the subject to be restrained in order for the process to work. As such, it is considered a rather crude method to deal with pathogens and toxins, and only used in emergency. This technique only draws out most of the poison, not all of it, so the subject can potentially still be in danger, albeit not immediate. To fully treat the subject, an antidote is needed. After the agent is drawn out, it can be used to create an antidote or medicine after it has been analyzed. This can then be given to the patient to ensure a complete recovery. This technique requires the utmost care and ability in diagnosis, incising and unmatched chakra control. Therefore, it is considered an extremely difficult technique, even among medical-nin.



Ranshinshō (Body Pathway Derangement)

Description: This is a high-level form of medical ninjutsu that serves to leave the victim confused and out of sorts. The medic creates an electric field by giving their chakra the properties of electricity. When they strike a target with their hand, the electricity pours into their nervous system and rearranges their body's signals. Ordinarily, the brain sends electric signals to the body to control how it moves. But when under the influence of this technique, these signals will produce any movement other than what the brain intends. When used against most opponents, they will be unable to do something as simple as walking, much less continue fighting.



Shōsen no Jutsu (Mystical Palm Technique)

Description: The user applies their hand to a wounded part of the body and sends chakra into it, accelerating the body's natural healing abilities. Although its most obvious use is as a way of treating external injuries, it can also be used for internal illnesses. Users must be careful to only use as much chakra as is needed for the specific injury. If too much chakra is sent into the body, this can disrupt the body's circulation, putting it into a comatose state.



In'yu Shōmetsu (Yin Healing Wound Destruction)

Description: The medic analyses an opponent's facial expression, movements, and the properties of their jutsu to anticipate where and how he will be attacked. They then gather chakra to the area of their body where the attack will strike, preemptively starting medical treatment in order to minimize the damage received. The more extensive the damage, the more chakra it takes to heal. In addition to needing to correctly read the opponent and react in time, medical users require great resilience in order to perform the jutsu.



Chikatsu Saisei no Jutsu (Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique)

Description: This is a medical ninjutsu that is used to heal severe, life-threatening injuries. To perform, it requires a full intensive care unit, staffed by medics with refined chakra control. The procedure lasts many hours, requiring the constant attention of the medics on staff and, inevitably, requiring backup shifts to replace medics who have tired out. Because of how difficult the procedure is, there is a considerable risk of losing the patient. The patient is placed in the centre of the floor. A large, complicated technique formula is drawn around them, focused around the injury to be healed. A sample of the patient's cells, such as a lock of their hair, is placed near the injury, to be used as a medium for the procedure. Medics take position around the formula's perimeter, notably the corners, and work together to change the medium's cellular makeup, converting it into whatever cells are required for mending the wound. This is where the technique's greatest difficulty lies, as medics must be careful to form the correct cell and then just as carefully apply it to the regenerating injury.

Description: A special type of Taijutsu that uses the refined chakra control and concentration required in medical ninjutsu to enhance one's strength to monstrous levels. This is done by storing chakra into one's hands or feet, and releasing it onto the target with pinpoint timing. With this strength, the user can decimate the ground or even kill opponents with a single strike. The rank of this technique known determines the additional force placed into a strike.



Ōkashō (Cherry Blossom Impact)

Description: Although it may appear to be a simple case of superhuman strength, this is actually an application of the precise chakra control that is used in medical ninjutsu. The user gathers a dense concentration of chakra in their fist that they release on contact with a target. The resulting damage is enough to seriously damage living targets and will likely also do some collateral damage to the surroundings. Ground that is affected by this jutsu fractures and sends small, flower petal-size particles into the air, hence the name.



Tsūtenkyaku (Heavenly Foot of Pain)

Description: The medic leaps into the air and concentrates all of their strength into their heel, rapidly swings it down. Not only does this deliver severe damage to anyone or anything it hits, but it will also crater the ground and decimating the surrounding structures.



Sekichū Messai (Stone Pillar Destruction)

Description: Based on the terrain the medic is on, they will use their enhanced strength to break off a large column of stone and throw it at the opponent. She can also place explosive tags on the column.



Sōtenkyaku (Heavenly Spear Foot)

Description: An improved version of the Heavenly Foot of Pain, the medic leaps to great heights and comes down crashing into their opponent with a massive amount of force. Unlike the previous technique, rather than dispersing the force of the chakra concentration over an area, this produces all of the force directly into its target, causing devastating damage to anyone or anything that is struck by it, creating penetrative force, rather than a dispersing explosion. This has been known to penetrate even the most serious of barriers.
