ROUND 1!

The examiners shuffled into the room one by one, their gray overalls setting the tone that matched their stoic expressions. Ushered over by a universal PA call connected to the more...leasure side of the Summit, the call to convened in the Royal Banquet Room would trigger the commencement of the exams. Round 1!

Converted into a classroom, this area possesses numerous desks separated from each other by at least five feet. The room itself was somewhat large, thirty feet all round, enclosed, all windows leading outside covered by the standard heavy glass that kept the snow and cold from the outside...well, out.

Murmurs filled the room for most of the time, but once the Lead Examiner stood tall at the head desk facing the rest, everyone knew it was time. They had all been handed a test, a thick white pamphlet with a second page. A scoring sheet of some kind. Slowly but surely he began to discuss all the basics, a deep, thundering voice employed in the process...

...welcome to Round One, squids!!! Before you is a pamphlet. In it, is a test! Now this test...this test is gonna measure whether you can THINK like a Chuunin. So read on, breathe life into these situations, and let them play out in your psyche. Then, when you're ready, tell me what YOU would have done to make it better.

You have four hours. Begin!

Your mission is simple. You are to silently infiltrate a well-guarded temple and gather the documents located at the center of the establishment. The building isn’t entirely big, so a broad disturbance at any side will alert the guards posted outside each of the four (it’s square in shape) rice-paper doors.

The small temple is surrounded by a massive, ten feet high wall that is similar in shape (in the fact that it is a square). There are two guards which rotate from corner to corner, always staying on the same wall as each other.

The garden, while large, isn’t necessarily enormous. There are multiple objects for you to hide behind, ranging from trees to boulders, to a small river-like pond that courses around the entirety of the garden. There are no guards here, however each of the four temple guards can see relatively clearly from their position on the temple porch to the wall some forty meters out.

Retrieve the document without altering the guards. Use lethal force if necessary, but excessive sound will draw attention to you.

You’ve been commissions to infiltrate a local club and kill all Yakuza-related personal in the hidden corridors of the establishment. There are ten in total, and though five of them are scattered around the club (marked by several tattoos on their faces), the other five are hidden away in the VIP section of the club. This entrance is guarded by two huge, almost seven feet tall bastards, of which you’ll need to deal with. Fortunately, once they’re done, it’s clear sailing to the rest of your victims.

None of these guys are rather impressive in terms of fighting; however, failing to kill one of them without drawing attention will definitely land you in the shitter. You’ll need to dispatch each member without altering the others, but more importantly without harming any innocents.

You’ve got another problem, though. During the time of your mission, only women are allowed in! Beyond that, this is an adult club, so children aren’t allowed either!

You’ve just gotten finished with the most troubling fight of your life, but you came out on top. Unfortunately, your brawl in the countryside was relatively destructive and not only did you pummel your opponent into a bloody pulp, but you did a hefty amount of damage to the land as well.

During all of the commotion, you and your opponent accidentally sent a car driven by two elderly folk and filled with their grand children veering far off course. Thankfully, the shaky wooden wheels managed to wedge themselves between two massive rocks before soaring off the nearby cliff.

Fortunately for them, they’ve got a seasoned ninja willing to save their lives. Unfortunately for you, you’re that ninja!

The problem is that the battle you just got out of was pretty taxing. You only have enough chakra to cast a maximum of three of your techniques before you pass out. The problem is that the wagon is incredibly heavy and unstable, so climbing on it or having them climb out before getting’ it on solid ground will spell their doom. Likewise, they must ALL make it out alive. It’s your fault they’re in this predicament, anyways.

You’re part of a transportation detail that is delivering a man with important information back to your village. Unfortunately, on your way, you are ambushed by a handful of enemy ninja with the intent to capture the man in hopes of gathering this important intel.

Considering their numbers, you’ve got a very slim chance of escaping. What’s more, it’s almost guaranteed they’d get to the target in time. As a guard, it was your duty to make sure that the information never fell into enemy hands – no matter the cost.

The problem is that this man is only a seven year old boy. What do you do?

Ninja A, a random Hyuuga, is in the middle of a heated battle in enemy territory against Ninja B, and although he has the upper hand skill-wise, he realizes he must end his battle soon or else end up fighting endless waves of reinforcements. In the process, his opponent utilizes an ability that grants them temporary flight. During his small levitation however, the Hyuuga re-positions himself atop a structure that allows him to be at a higher vantage point than the six armed aerial fiend.

At this moment, the Hyuuga employs a Suiton jutsu which produces oil-like water, capable of instant flammability. With the wave of oil coming forth, the aerial opponent decides to counter with a Katon technique. Unfortunately for them, it literally backfires, exploding in their face along with the oil that was being poured fourth. The result? The six-armed opponent being blasted back many meters into several structures, left to die.

The battle has ended and the Hyuuga moves on. However, things could have elapsed very differently here. How would YOU have taken down that pesky guzzling Hyuuga!?

Atlas would saunter into the Exams building a little later than he had wanted to do so, quietly taking his seat on the desk closest to the door- front row, bottom-left corner. When he was handed his test, the Akegarasu would meticulously scan through each and every question with his emerald green eyes. He found that going through them first often helped him solve them later, as the back of his mind always dwelt on the possible answers. When he felt he was ready to start the first question listed, the half-masked ninja would lift his pencil and get to writing.

His hand would move quickly across the paper, scrawling neatly printed words upon the sheet as he focused on the question at hand. He wouldn't stop- he didn't need to. A lot of these situations, one way or another, reminded him of events that had happened during the war. Events he had already suffered through. Pausing would only disrupt his musings anyway, and he was currently on a roll. Within a total of fifteen minutes, the ninja had finished half of the questions provided. The last few were tricky than the others- sometimes strangely ordered and vague- but he didn't feel like bothering the grumpy fella who was their examiner. He probably had a lot on his plate as it was. So he could probably do without a few questions.

The final scenario had proven to catch the Cloud ninja off-guard, as he had never actually planned to take down a village on his own. He had simply been in the business of killing other village ninja. He wasn't sure he could answer these questions well. But despite this reservation, he'd continue, writing down all that he would do in his power to execute such an ambitious feat. He had to do this three times, which took him a total of twenty-five minutes before he was done. With a satisfied smile, the Akegarasu would stand up from his seat, turn in his exam, and promptly exit. Off to meet Yukiko for an ice-cold smoothie!

Second to enter the makeshift classroom was Ip Trang. He had lived for this moment, or rather, for the Chuunin Exams. Whether it was face-to-face with a shinobi from another village or written test, determination brought Ip to this point. He quickly took his place several seats from the first ninja to enter. He seemed to take the test easy and before Ip started with his first answer he was done and leaving the class room. Ip wondered just how he was at arriving in comparison, but quickly brushed the though aside as he glanced down at his paper.

Six scenarios with incalculably various ways to execute each given task lie before. As the test was presented, it was made obvious that Ip would either have to answer how he would execute his role or change a situation considerably. Whether each had to be uniquely answered or utilize the same skills was unknown, but within his limited arsenal each would become a invaluable tool in completing each task. For a time he reflected on each scenario, thinking and calculating the chances and odds of what and where an error would or could present itself. When he finally worked out a flawless design for each, the pencil struck paper and the true test began.

After fifteen minutes in total the test was complete and Ip slid his paper forward, brushing aside loose pencil residue. As he read each he nodded to himself, satisfied with what he had written. Without word he rose from his desk and presented the paper to the proctor, turning and taking his leave before others would enter.

Gin was one of the first few to enter the room and begin testing. Though in his mind it was ridiculous to even give an exam to evaluate ones capabilities and if they should be Chunin or not, he realized there was no use arguing against it. If he failed, it was because the system deemed him too unintelligent to proceed with the exams. He wouldn't make a fuss over it, it would only hinder him from achieving a higher rank, and doing more difficult missions. The rank of Chunin was almost a joke to him, but no one took a Nukenin who was classified as a Genin very seriously.

As he entered the room he plopped down onto the seat. After listening to the proctor speak and tell them their allotted time, then begin the exam, he was already through reading the scenarios. There was nothing he had to say that interested him very much, and so his attention was diverted to the sheet of paper that lay before him. Once the order to begin was made, he picked his pencil from the desk calmly, twirling it in between his fingers as he formulated ideas for the missions, playing them in his mind as if he were actually doing them.

They were simple scenarios. Any Genin could have come up with ideas for them, but not all of them were able to be accomplished by certain ones. When they put you in certain predicaments where you would HAVE to do something, sometimes, you just can't achieve a certain goal. Gin didn't run into any problems or stop signs during his planning. His pencil strokes were quick and sharp, and before he knew it, he had finished.

Six already? Heh. I must have been zoned..

He presented his sheet of answers to the proctor as well, taking his leave as one of the first few to finish.

Slowly striding through the door, Kurai's eyes would meet the few eyes that were managing to mimic his intention: discovering their opponents. While the transition from the door to a random seat was quick, it would be a matter of time before he would notice at least seven eights of the genin in the room. There were not a ridiculous amount of ninja here, making his ego boost a significant amount as he could visualize his odds begin to rise. His fingertips would slide across the desktop, the wooden slowly riveting against his fingerprints. The friction would feel good as he would draw himself into the environment. The lighting was good, and the view of the snow covering the air was peaceful. He wanted to be outside. He wanted to feel the cool breeze of the Tetsu no Kuni environment. However, as he would observe the curt announcement remove itself from the lips of this mysterious proctor he would slowly begin to realize just what was about to happen. He was making his seconds step into becoming a Chuunin. Round 1 was going to begin as soon as the thick piles of paper would make its way onto his desk. He had been studying for quite some time for this exam. Only time would tell if it would pay off.

The questions which the proctor had placed onto the sheet were interesting to say the least. While incapable of saying he had experience in any of these scenarios, he was fully capable of answering each of them. It were scenarios such as these which would allow Kurai to pursue his aspirations to take the exam in the first place. Golden eyes would reflect the thick plain text that would begin to cover the white pages given to Kurai. His pen would swiftly glide across the page as he would hold his head up with his opposite arm. His elbow against the table his eyes would not dare look anywhere but the paper staring him in the face. With every sentence written, he could imagine himself in this scenario, knowing that if he were to pass this exam, these scenarios would become reality. He had to treat them so.

It would take nothing more than an hour for the young poet to finish. His signature placed at the top of each page, he would slowly slide the papers together, his pen wedged between the index and middle finger. Taking a quick look over his answers again, Kurai would stand to his feet, and lazily shuffling his way to the front of the room, he would release a boistrous sigh as his small stack of papers would land equally curt onto the stack of papers previously handed in.

"Easy."

The female entered the room together with her teammate. She found an unoccupied desk and sat down. Her ice blue eyes looked at the other people in the room; there were nobody at her age or close. 'I hope these questions aren't too hard. But hey, I have to compete against adults!' thought Yukiko before the examiner started to speak.

She turned the paper, her pencil ready to go in her left hand. Her eyes read the text before they widened in slight fear. All of these questions were really hard!!!
'Kami! It will be a miracle if I can get a decent score on this one!' thought the girl as she started to write.

Some of these questions were a little easier than others, but it was still harder than what she had expected. 'I just have to do my best. This is kind of the stuff I'm good at anyways' thought the Genin as she wrote down her answers.
After four hours, she walked towards the examiner's desk and laid her paper there. It was time to get a smoothie.

He was called into the examination room, just as all the other Genin did before him. His arrival would be timely. Not the absolute first to arrive and not the last to enter. He had made it before Kii did. His mind started to wander what kept him, as the announcement that the start of the first round would be heart through out the entire summit. Hopefully he wasn't off somewhere doing something that would cause him to miss the opportunity, though he knew he were no mindless fool.

The first round would be explained. It seemed easy enough. The classroom was familiar to him in a sense. As he seated himself he would find his memories venturing forth, from when he was in the academy himself. Much like being in the academy, he had questions laid before him. A mental test it was. Tensa was a rather intelligent being, but far from his family. There were some geniuses that hailed from his family. He wondered from time to time where he stood. Regardless, once the test began and the questions were before him, all of his focus would go to answering the questions.

The young Hyuuga was told that the questions would be of Chuunin level. Some of them he was able to answer without much difficulty at all. While a couple held him at a standstill for a couple minutes. He searched his mind for answers, visualizing each scenario as it played out how he would execute each of them. Before long he was finished. The last scenario would have left him sitting there for a while, had he not decided on simply answering with the most simple of answers, sensing some small level of deception. However he wouldn't know until the exams were done. With his test turned in, he would exit the exams room, waiting for the results.

I was practically the last one to come shuffling in the door, a few wandering gazes would sneak a stealing glance, but I'd shoot them a wry look-the gaze of a predator. The weaklings of course abandoned their curiosity and immediately averted their eyes.

They were but still children.. well most of them, but I seriously doubted any of these shrimp had tasted real battle. They were safe for now, but not any amount of mock battles could prepare them for the demon of the hidden mist.

Taking my seat on the far left, second row, I leaned my head on my arm, awaiting for the first part to start. Finally after a few moments of waiting, the examiner finally walked in, and the room fell silent. At least these children knew when to shut up.

I gave a sly smirk as the proctor talked, and watched him hand out the pamphlets, placing each on all the genins desk's. Finally when he handed me mine, he told us to began. I could hear the sound of scribbling pencils that pervaded the backdrop.

"Six scenarios huh?"

The thing was that I had real life experience in battle, after all I took down an entire compound albeit it slightly smaller than a hidden village, but its size was great still. These wouldn't take me long as I focused on each individually, assessing my own skills, and prowess in correspondence to each respective scenario.

Time ticked away and the sands of time passed us by, and soon the four hours were up. I was calm, simply because I had finished with good enough time to sit back and relax. I was by far no genius, but what I had experienced directly after the war and so on, helped molded me for this moment. And, to be honest, I was thankful....if only a little.

The proctor asked for all the papers, and slowly I rose to my feet, and shuffled to where he was, handing in my test.

"The real fun is about to start!"

The calm Airontoku entered the room quietly without bringing any attention to himself; even though he had a massive gourd placed upon his back. He had found it rather interesting that the Genins were being tested on scenarios, rather than testing the knowledge of these Genins – for anyone could evaluate a scenario and probably pass.

And for that "anyone," Toru was among them, because he was good with tactics, and evaluating anything that dealt with combat. Nonetheless, the soon to be Chuunin walked graceful to a seat that was on the left of him, and barely had any other Genin sitting there. Before him was his test that he soon began to answer after reading, the scenarios were rather simple; nothing too complicated.

In a matter of ten minutes, he risen from his seat, test in hand, and soon walking to the examiner and giving it to him. A simple smirk plastered across his face, and eyes burning with confidence. After such actions, he left the room, while whispering to himself, "Too easy." Toru knew he made his country proud; Kumogakure was here to stay.

One of the first few to enter the room which was being used for the First Round, aka the round that involved nothing physical other than reading and writing. Being handed his test as he walked in he found a seat at one of the higher desks, sitting alone at the center table he scanned the scenarios he was given. After this scanning he gave each a thorough reading, offering each equal time to think over.

After this he found himself back at the first scenario, reading over it once more before he began answering it. And within ten minutes he finished it. Glancing around he'd watch as the first to enter left the room, then second, perhaps they rushed, or perhaps they had time to plot such things over time due to lack of training. Shrugging his shoulders, for he did not care, he continued answering each question.

And after about an hour had passed he had finished, signing his name and the date he dusted his paper off and spun the pencil around in his other hand as he walked down towards the protcor. Hanidng him both the paper and pencil he began exiting the room. Throwing a hand in the air and waved once before speaking and closing the door behind himself. "No problem."

Hirihi had known that this day would come. The day that she was going to get to put her skills to the test for the sake of showing her worth to these people. It wasn't something that she had dreamt of, no, but she was more than willing to show that she was able to do what she set her mind to. With or without her asshole of a father behind her, she'd continue to better herself.

Coming into the room and taking a seat, she would not be the last to arrive, but she was a little later than she would have liked. The pink haired medic would look down to see the pamphlet that the examiner had described. Keeping her attention on him during the full opening introduction, Hirihi opened the pamphlet and began to take her test.

The questions were rough. Some of them were easily answered, but she was not sure on a few of the others. They described missions that she had never been on in her entire life. Shrugging her shoulders, Hirihi focused on her paper and continued to work as fast as she could...

two hours later...

The period of time that it took for her to write left her arm feeling as if it had been run through a saw mill. The amount of detail that she listed in the mission scenarios left her curious as to how they would grade such an essay based test. If she failed this test, would it mean she was no good? Did she not have the brains of a Chuunin? There was only one way to truly know, right?

Taking her pamphlet and wandering up to the front in front of the examiner, she would hand in her answers to the test and look around, moving out of the room. She was one of the few left in the room. That wasn't a good sign if it was just that easy for the others... right?

Lena bit her lip as she entered the examination room, her teeth digging into the soft skin on her lip. She was nervous, which even saying that was an understatement, she didn't want to feel like a failure, especially since this was only the first part of the exams! She had not even gotten to the part where she would have to put her wits in battle against another opponents, and she found that failing after only being this far into the exams would be utterly useless, as she hadn't even really gotten the chance to prove herself yet. She figured she was one of the last to show up for the questioning, but it didn't really bother her too much- she just wanted to get in, take the test and get everything over with.

She sat down and looked at the paper in front of her and heaved a deep sigh, trying to get her brain to focus on each scenario. She labeled each with a number and wrote down her explanation, using herself in a third person reference for the most part. Once she was done she double checked herself for any mistakes and stood up, walking up to the examiner and putting on the biggest fake smile she possible good. She handed him her test and then she was allowed to exit, though doing this didn't calm her nerves in the least bit- she was still a raving wreck!

Oh maaaaan.
Sure enough being a girl, stereotypically she had nice handwriting. Stereotypically she was quite good at writing things out but then again, she wasn’t too fond of writing or anything that had to do with it. Sure, she had an address book, sure she had a diary and all, but writing essays and writing for exams she wasn’t too keen on- Being such an active individual sitting down for a few hours and writing wasn’t one of her main interests, especially when she knew at the time that there was a whole new world outside that she had to explore. Despite her constant cheeriness and her inability to be annoyed, she would walk in with an aura of little excitement, unlike some of the shinobi in there who were probably looking forwards to this round.

Taking her seat the kunoichi would soon make herself at home, shifting around in her seat for a few moments before then placing her elbows on the table in front of her, picking up the pen that was near her desk, as she’d then begin to look over the questions, her left hand supporting her chin, which was looking down at the questions. Six, huh? Let’s see now.. upon thoroughly looking over the questions she would soon be able to identify what was needed to be written, and so the nib of the pen that she was holding would gently tip against the paper, and.. go. Her writing would begin, and like an unstoppable current of water, the ink would flow in to words, then sentences, then paragraphs.. then pages upon the paper that she was writing on. Time ticked by quite slowly, and she couldn’t really complain- It was an exam after all.

With her mind full of ideas of how to answer the questions, she would notice once or twice a few other genin getting up and leaving. Prizing quality over quantity, she wasn’t here to simply babble her way around, so she figured that perhaps at least one or two of them would maybe place a bit of spam within their work. But, taking her mind off them and back on to her own work the green haired storm channeller would keep at it, her hand, now slightly red from the pressure placed on it, would speed across the paper as she would answer the different questions and scenarios that she had been given. This was the first round, and Areru was very intent on passing it- Perhaps not with flying colours, although that would be great, but, passing it in general would be a blessing.

So, hours would pass and she would soon finish the test. Placing the pen down and having a quick read over what she had written she would then nod her head, grinning slightly that she had finished, knowing that it was now over- for now- and she could return to both exploring and seeing her friends again. Dinner hopefully awaited! Looking over at the others who had not yet finished, she would then raise from her seat soundlessly as her lithe frame dodged past the other seats, walking towards the examiner with her paper in hand, the pen still on the table- As, it wasn’t hers. It would be rude to steal it, of course, and although she was one of the boys at the best of times, she wasn’t a pen thief (Even though, by now, there were a few distinct bite marks on the top of it, an annoying habit that Areru has had since she was young, still at work!) Handing in the paper, she would then leave, the snow soon hitting her head..

”..Brrr..”
