Uchiha Kouketsu
— Callsign: the First Mizukage (Shodai Mizukage).
DATA: Though originally born into a home of Konohagakure, Kouketsu's defect came at the end of the First Great Shinobi War. He no longer wished to support a village that saw him only as a tool of destruction, and figured he would be able to further his own ambitions within the Bloody Mist. Sure enough, Kouketsu found his thrill in overtaking Mizu no Kuni's entire underground community, and creating the most powerful Yakuza organization the world has ever known: the Akumabito.
Operating directly out of Kirigakure, Kouketsu and his organization became a force so deadly that the Mizukage Nominee, Hiromasa Kawashimi, attempted to form a loose-contract alliance with him. Their negotiations quickly turned sour, however. Hiromasa was slain in the conflict that followed, and rather than take the head of the village himself, Kouketsu used a kage bunshin to impersonate the young boy and thusly became the first Mizukage of the new era.
It didn't take long for Kouketsu to lose his taste in running the Hidden Mist, to which he simply vanished. The seat of power was passed on, finding its way into one of his pupil's hands, Masumi Hozuki.
Reduced to nothing more than a ghost for several long years, Kouketsu reemerged in Kirigakure under the pretense of assisting the new Mizukage. Though she was hesitant to trust or indulge the wayward shinobi, Masumi allowed him to serve as one of her elite ANBU and personal guard as well. Their relationship blossomed from that moment on, and eventually Masumi was taken as his lover and co-conspirator. Together, the pair plotted on how they would conquer all of the known world beneath the iron fist of Kirigakure.
It was a goal that, with Kouketsu's inhuman ambition and drive, was eventually accomplished. What began as crashing the Chuunin Exams in Bakudon Gai (Iwa no Kuni) evolved into a full blown conflict that consumed Konohagakure whole, and ravaged its way to the highest peaks of Kawarimi no Kuni. It took time, but with the new found powered he'd obtained via the Mangekyou Sharingan, there wasn't a force in the world that could stop him. The old era of the shinobi had passed.
After the final Shinobi War, and the civil war between the people, samurai and the ninja, Kouketsu and his love vanished. With no trace or hints to where they might be, many have simply presumed that they died in the aftermath of their own conquest. Others, namely those that knew him personally, firmly believe that he is still out there, watching over the new generations of ninja.
