Nitōjutsu (Two Sword Style) [DONE]

The dual sword style was originally developed by the Samurai. Users originally carried a spare sword to their fight should their primary break. This later developed into carrying an extra sword into battle, and using both. The Samurai at first would be able to use two swords in conjunction to each other to block, or attack. As they developed, their skill would allow them to both defend themselves from one threat with one sword, and attack with the other, leading to such skills that would make the users a serious threat that could block and attack in almost the same movement.

These later days, Nitōjutsu is used more aggressively, and some times by street performers. Ninja these days are often seen practicing the same arts, losing the discrimination. Dojos and Masters have sprung up almost literally everywhere as the style goes well with Kenjutsu. Learning, is as simple as stepping inside, and grabbing two swords.

The Three Stances!

Nitojutsu Stances come in threes. One to attack with both swords, one to defend with both, and one to attack with one sword, and defend with another. The style however stresses fluidity, and so the use may move through moves in stances at will.



Dual Defense[/u]
Rank: D, C, B, A, S
Type: Defense Stance
Range: Self
Special:One of the three stances in Nitojutsu. Allows the user to use both swords to form a defense with the techniques of this stance. At higher ranks, the user can block higher attacks, D rank blocking D, C blocking C, and so on.
Description: The user's ready position is holding both swords vertically, their dominant sword slightly behind the other. Feet are spread wide, past the shoulders, with the back foot facing forward to stress mobility, or to away from the user to stress stability. Non-solidified attacks (ie. a tidal wave) cannot be blocked without proper provision.

Dual Offense[/u]
Rank: D, C, B, A, S
Type: Offensive Stance
Range: Self
Special: The second of the three Nitojutsu stances. Allows the user to use both swords to form an attack. Also determines the speed which the user can draw both swords for ALL Nitojutsu techniques.
Description: The user holds both sword blades out, close to their body. The dominant sword in slightly more than the other, and pointing more towards the opponent. Both feet face the opponent, the dominant on the tip of their toes. This stance emphasizes movement.

Balanced Stance[/u]

Type: Nitojutsu Stance
Range: Self
Special:The final of the three Nitojutsu Stances. The stance allows the user to use a sword for offense, a sword for defense, and alternate their roles at any time. Higher ranks allow the user to learn techniques within this stance. User's rank in this stance determines rank of strikes and blocks.
Description: The user's ready position is holding both swords almost horizontally, at a diagonal. Their feet are spread wide, and their body facing towards their left or right. Their dominant sword pointing towards the opponent, held just below the users neck level.
Domain: Nitojutsu. User must have equal rank in both Offensive and Defensive Stance

Defense Stance Techniques

The Defensive Stance's moves focus on allowing the user to perform a stalwart defense of one or more opponents. Both blades in these arena are used to perform defensive action, and make it difficult for them to be harmed.



Front Block![/u]
Rank: D
Type: Defensive Block
Range: Self
Special:User may block as many attacks as their strength and speed allows. Ranks blocked must be equal or less than the user's Defense Stance rank.
Description: User continually swings one blade with enough force to stop a frontward attack, and when the opportunity presents itself swings to other to divert the enemies attack.

Independent Blade Side Block [/u]
Rank: C
Type: Defense Stance
Range: Self
Special:Allows the user to use a blade in each hand to parry or deflect an attack from both sides simultaneously. User may defend as many times as their strength and speed allow. Ranks blocked must be equal or less than Defense Stance Rank
Description: User widens their stance and holds the swords out to their left and right, to allow defense to their sides.
Domain: Nitojutsu. Equal Rank "Defensive Stance"

Offensive Stance Techniques

The Offensive Stance Techniques are the mainstay of Nitojutsu, allowing for an onslaught of attacks to overwhelm the opponent with sufficient training. Using two swords can very easily allow the opponent to charge through the defense.

Front Strike![/u]

Type: Offense
Range: Close Quarters
Special: Allows the user to make repeated frontward strikes or stabs. Can be retrained to stack D ranked damage
Description: Immediately out of the draw, the user may slash with one sword and then the other, alternating as they see fit. Allows them to put pressure on an opponent or cut them to ribbons.
Domain: Nitojutsu. Requires "Offense Stance D"


Double Blade 360[/u]
Rank:C,B
Type: Offense
Range: Close Quarters
Special:User holds out both blades to their left and right, and spins rapidly. The user may maintain the movement for two seconds before they will lose balance if continuing. C rank may be retrained to prolong the movement for 2 seconds, until 10 in achieved. B rank allows the user to travel at two meters per second while in the spin.
Description: Out of the draw, the user holds their arms out spread eagle left and right. Then twisting to the right for but a second, they whip around and bring up their right foot to pivot on their left, and contain a spinning motion. At higher ranks they may hop off one foot and onto the next to create a forward motion and turn.

Independent Side Attack[/u]

Type: Offensive Stance
Range: Self
Special: User holds out both swords out in order to independently attack two opponents in different areas.
Description: User widens their stance and holds their swords out to their sides in order attack an opponent on each side. Stabbing or slashing is up to the user and their preference.
Domain: Nitojutsu. Requires "Offense Stance B"


Nitojutsu Missle[/u]
Rank: A
Type: Offensive Charge
Range: 0-30 Meters
Special:Users holds out both swords forward and propels forward, using a burst of pressured chakra. User MUST carry themselves 30 Meters, unable to stop mid charge of their own means. Can only be used once per thread, and once more retrained.
Description: See Special.
Domain: Nitojutsu. Requires "Offense Stance A"

Counter Stance Techniques

The Balanced Stance of Nitojutsu allows ultimate control over both swords allowing the user to stave off attacks, and attack in nearly the same instant, or use the swords to support each other with independent actions.

Return Strike[/u]
Rank: D
Type: Offense/Counter-Strike
Range: Close Quarters
Special: After deflecting an attack, user may send a strike with the opposite sword. User may keep this cycle going as long and their strength and stamina allows. Ranks blocked must be equal or less than Counter Stance
Description: User blocks an attack with their sword, then quickly makes a slash or stab with their opposite sword after the momentum from the first is stopped or averted.
Domain: Nitojutsu. "Requires Balanced Stance D"


Stalwart Defense[/u]
Rank: C
Type: Counter Stance
Range: Close Quarters
Special:User may defend OR attack with the blades held to more than one opponent. The user may continue this stance so long as their strength and stamina allows. Ranks blocked must be equal or less than Balance Stance Rank.
Description: Widening the stance, the user uses their Nitojutsu skill to send and attack, or strike with either sword. Allows user to handle more than one opponent by attacking and defending almost simultaneously.

Projectile Return[/u]
Rank: D, C, B, A, S
Type: CounterAttack
Range: Close Quarters
Special: User stops a weapon or solidified projectile ninjutsu with one sword, and skillfully redirects it back to the opponent. The user's rank of Projectile Return must match the rank of whatever is being returned.
Description: As an attack comes, the user stops it with the tip of their sword. The other sword then smacks the projectile to the other opponent. The entire action is done in hardly a moment. Ninjutsu above B rank will require a five turn cooldown.

Supplementary Jutsu

Sword Improvisation[/u]
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary Jutsu
Range: Self
Special: Gives the user skill to use an imbalanced, non traditional object as their first or second sword.
Description: User is able to gather an object to replace their sword, a branch, or otherwise. Anything they can move easily within the Nitojutsu style in order to combat the opponent effectively, with the absence of their swords.

Defense Stance: I don't think we can allow you to block incoming attacks just by being inside of the stance. That's something that should be left up to the rank of the techniques themselves, coupled with whatever other taijutsu supplementaries you have.

Offense Stance: I'm not entirely sure what the point of having this multi-ranked is, as there's no real clear-cut definition of the stances. The only way I could really see this becoming multi-ranked would be to say that you're doing more damage while in the stance, but as I said in the Defense Stance, I don't want to allow you be able to do these things simply because you're inside of the stance.

Combo Stance: Eh, I don't really have a problem with you having a stance that allows for both offense and defense.

Stances in general: I would simply drop all of these stances down to D rank and require their knowledge for the other techniques of the style. They don't need to be multi-ranked because there's no way to give them any sort of ranked definition without making them essentially passive mega-bonuses.

Front Block: The idea behind retraining it would be to allow yourself to block a combo-style attack, correct? Overall, though, I don't really see a point in retraining the technique as you could just hold your sword in the correct place to block until the final hit from the opponent before swatting them away.

Independent Blade Side Block: Same thing as above.

Blade Disarmament: Uh, this doesn't really make any sense whatsoever. I sent the description to exactly 5 other people and nobody can make any sense of what you're trying to do. Please reword it so that it makes some sense so I can properly grade it.

Front Strike: Once again, I don't see the point in retraining it. You could just do the technique over again.

Thousand Stabbed: See above.

Independent Side Attack: I don't really see how this needs a limit on the number of strikes (like I've said quite a bit here) and isn't more of like, a stance or something that allows you to attack simultaneously and differently at two different opponents.

Nitojutsu Missle: If both of your swords are facing in front of you, what's causing the cutting to be done around you? I don't really understand that. I feel like you would need to remove that portion of the technique. I also think that this technique should be able to be retrained more than once.

Delimbing: I don't want a technique on the site that implicitly states death or delimbing. Those are the effects of a critical strike and good roleplaying tactics on your behalf, not the results of a technique that say they delimb. This needs to be removed.

Return Strike: Remove the parts about attacking more than once. Once more, that's more about your roleplay skill than a technique.

Halting Attack: Makes no sense again. I have no idea what you're doing here. You need to fix this so that I can actually grade it, as it seems like the technique has been taken out of the context of something else.

Projectile Return: I don't really think you could create a perfect reflection of either projectile or Ninjutsu, but I'm alright with you stopping an attack and sending it flying backwards at an angle. That being said, the technique as a whole should probably just become multi-ranked and allow you to reflect projectiles and solidified ninjutsu of the same rank back towards the opponent. Create some sort of drawback for reflecting at least higher ranked (B+) Ninjutsu, such as a cooldown or the potential to harm yourself.

Overall, you need to realize that this site doesn't feature any sort of 'movement system' where the number of attacks you can do per turn are limited by your techniques. It's based off of the semi-realistic combat given to us by the anime and manga. Because of that, all of the techniques that in here that 'let you attack more than once' are unnecessary and serve no purpose.

Im sorry I didn't specify the directive of the stances.

They actually do have ranked value for the entire style.

The defensive determining maximum rank you can block, The offensive determining the strength of your attacks along with how fast both blades are drawn, and the last just determines what rank of that stance you can learn.

This is the way I intended it to be anyway. I can change it to your liking, but this was the system I intended and I'll edit accordingly to make more clear or suit your preference.

Also, I apologize about the movement system. I was working off the Kenjutsu things I saw. The higher techniques would allow more strikes, but this is fine too. I think the movement issues are fixed now.

Looks like I'm taking this over.

Defensive stance: note in special that you can block equal rank attacks only in conjunction with jutsu used inside of the stance, and not simply by being in the stance. Also, as a note (this can be added if you wish to clarify, but I feel it's a given. I just wanted to make a note of it) that you can only block techniques whose nature allows you to do so, i.e. you won't be blocking a B rank tidal wave even if you have S rank defense, 'cause you can't block a tidal wave with a sword.

Offensive stance: Looks fine.

Balanced stance: Just note that you need equal rank of both offensive and defensive stances in order to train this in the domain.

For both blocking techniques inside defensive stance: you'll need equal rank defensive stance to learn these (I assume you intended that?), just put that in the domain.

For all offensive techniques: I assume you're trying to base this off of the way kenjutsu works, right? You could note in the special that the damage of the strike is based off of your offensive stance rank. Furthermore, it's to my understand (from reading the replies) that you originally had the ability to retrain this for more strikes? While what Lash said is true, if you want the ability to retrain, you could allow retraining in order to stack damage equal to the rank of the technique. Just a suggestion. Also, like the defensive stance techniques, you should note that an equal rank of offensive stance is required to learn any of the techniques.

For all balanced techniques: same as above. Rank of strike can be determined by balance stance rank, and you could retrain to stack damage equal to the rank of the technique. Some suggestions that give the stances more meaning. Aside from that, note that the balanced stance rank must be equal to or higher than the technique you're learning, just like the other two sections.

I think that covers the issues I saw, as Lash pointed out most of the specific jutsu issues.

Alright, last few things and I think this'll be good. For all the blocks (in defensive and balanced stances), you should note that the highest rank you can block is equal to the highest rank of the respective stance. Anything higher, you can't block.

Also, for double blade 360, it should be noted that you'll need offensive stance rank 'B' to learn the B rank upgrade.
