But at what cost? Have they become the very thing that they despised the most...? Heroes and villains seem to change roles every day, but one thing is for certain - we yearn for our freedom, for days gone by where we flew the skies unhindered.
Most commonly, Jiyuu don't a black leather tunic, worn by constant wear and repeated washing. It's sleeves are long, extending to to the wrists. The tunic is also quite tight, almost clinging to the skin. Various patches cover it, an attempt to repair the damage that had been done to it over the years. His trousers are matching in color, also rather long, down to the ankles, and equally tight.
Standing at five feet and eleven inches, Jiyuu is of no more than average height. While he does not stand notably high, he is muscled quite well from his service during the wars. A pair of finely defined arms, a thick chest, and a toned abdomen hint that this man has not sat and wasted away, but rather continued to be in fine physical shape. He weights only one hundred and fifty pounds, but what little fat he has is muscle.
His black hairs have been cut rather short and close, not a single hair left to grow. Jiyuu’s hairline, on the contrary, is quite uneven with little care given towards it. His face is shaved roughly, the remnants of black hairs visible rather easily, even without an attentive glance. His bodily hairs have grown rather thick, especially the chest.
Two gray eyes are set into his face rather deeply, giving the Shikigami a rather gaunt appearance, worsened by his revealed cheekbones. A thin mouth rests above his angular chin, filled with slightly yellow stained teeth. A single scar runs along his neck, as if someone had attempted to cut his throat but failed.
Jiyuu fought in both the First and Second Wars, serving as no more than a simple pawn in the greater scheme of things. His beliefs, his morals, none of those mattered in the face of orders. He was drawn into conflict, into sin. He does not mourn his actions of the past, but rather, views them as necessary, for there must always be men who fight. Yet Jiyuu did not lose a sense of righteousness despite the constant pressure, the inanity of war. Many would become morally ambiguous, but Jiyuu rose beyond the simple concepts of morality. He acts as he must.
Jiyuu has seen death on a daily basis, but he does not obsessively wish to bring it on any others, for a life lost is still a life lost, regardless of circumstance. He constantly found himself drawn into conflict again and again. Conflict is a calling, the struggle an addiction. War is the only thing he had ever truly known, and he makes little attempt to know little else, as men rarely change their ways when they had been imprinted upon the mind so fiercely.
Having seen men at their worst, Jiyuu has become extraordinarily bitter over the years. He is slow to place faith in any man, but quick to forgive. He shows mercy even to foes, for he sees their enmity as the result of duty. As he himself had acted out of duty for much of his life, Jiyuu rarely holds ill will towards any who acted against him. He holds no respect whatsoever for men who act destructively on whim, considers them to be beyond redemption.
While he suffers from a constant longing for conflict, Jiyuu makes no attempt to trigger it himself. Rather, he views himself as a man who must fight for those who cannot lift a blade themselves, a guardian for those who are at a loss. He does this not out of benevolence, but simply because he understands the true terror of wars and wants no others to experience the same. Additionally, in the battle for the freedom of others, the struggle itself, he finds comfort.

The long-bladed sword, three to four feet at the blade, is characterized by a complex hilt which is constructed to provide protection for the hand wielding it. Senbon (Throwing Needles) [Two Packs] Rank: D Type: Secondary / Ranged Special: 10 per Pack. Description: Senbon were first used by doctors in acupuncture, but due to its reported widespread effectiveness, it was quickly adopted by ninja in order to hit points on the body that can induce paralysis, loss of consciousness, or even death. Smoke Grenade [One Pack] Rank: C Type: Tool / Area of Effect Range: 0 - 10 meters Special: 3 per pack Description: This explodable comes in the form of a long, skinny cylinder, no more than a few inches long. At the top lies a pin which, when pulled, activates the grenade's internal components. Within seconds, thick, dark smoke begins to spew from the cylinder, covering a wide area and leaving all those nearby blinded and gagging. Cost: 600 per Pack
Exploding Note [Two Packs] Rank: D Type: Tool / Area of Effect Range: 0 - 5 meters Special: 10 per pack Description: The exploding note is a piece of parchment paper infused with special chakra, layered over with a special script on it that serves to enable and facilitate its explosive properties. Its execution is simple - the ninja can attach the note to another object such as a kunai or log, and upon activation, the note is set and begins either a slow countdown burn, which eventually results in a large explosion, or the explosion in itself upon command. Ninja Wire Strings [Two Packs] Rank: D Type: Secondary / Ranged Special: 20 ft. of wire per pack. Description: Wire Strings can be used for rappelling, manipulating weapons, or to tie down and restrict the movement of an opponent, sometimes even being able to slice through items when generating enough force to do so. Kunai (Throwing Knife) [Six Packs] Rank: D Type: Secondary / Melee + Ranged Special: 2 per Pack. Description: This throwing knife is one of the common weapons of a ninja. It is often kept in a holster on the leg in a pouch attached to the belt. What makes it so versatile and universal is the fact the Kunai can be used in conjunction with explosive tags and other weapons to form deadly combos out of simple, easily accessible items. Special: Creates a special Paper Clone of a person other than the user in order to trick and potentially attack the opponent. Clones can exist as far as the eye can see, or until the user leaves the thread, and take no additional chakra for upkeep. Clones move at speeds equal to the user's Pepa Speedo (Paper Speed), and can perform any Shikigami jutsu the user knows. Clones disperse and reform before being defeated. The number of these clones capable of being created is equal to the number of Paper Clones the user can create. Paper clones, like Kage Bunshin, share the user's chakra reserves. Description: An offset of the Pepa Bunshin no Jutsu, this ability allows the user to create the appearance of someone other than him or herself. The created clone is usually an ally of an opponent that the user has already captured or disposed of. The point of the technique is to catch the opponent off guard, leaving them open to attack from the person they had assumed was their friend.

Baku Kamishouha (Bursting Paper Collision Waves) [100 EXP] Rank: B Type: Ninjutsu, Offensive Range: 30 meters. Handseals: No. Chakra: High Special: The user releases an incredible wave, equal in size to the user's maximum allowed size of paper creations, comprised of hundreds of sheets of paper towards the opponent. The wave itself is generally wider than it is taller, so that is a wide area of effect. The wave will travel up to 30 meters and will attempt to bury anyone caught within the wave under the mountains of paper. Because the paper is filled with the user's chakra, the user is capable of knowing the location of anyone who was caught within the wave, and can then proceed to follow up with other Paper Ninjutsu attacks. Chakra: Mid Special: Derived from one's knowledge of Hatoronshi Bakuha (Crafting Paper Explosive Addition), a shikigami conjures a ball of paper no larger than a fist and uses it as the catalyst of an explosion. The explosion caused by this technique is equal to the respective explosive radius of the user's Hatoronshi Bakuha (Crafting Paper Explosive Addition). The grenade itself unless triggered through will by the Shikigami is useless, and will not explode if destroyed. It is as durable as ones Hatoronshi no Kami (Crafting Paper Skill), and is as resistant as ones Hatoronshi Genso (Crafting Paper Elemental Resistance). Every retraining of this technique allows you to use one more grenade per post, for a total of five. Description: The Onmyoji, the original Paper Shikigami, were said to toss nothing but crumpled documents onto the floor and have them erupt into fiery explosive blazes at will. Only one object can be controlled, with an additional object for every time the technique is retrained. Only small secondary items can be controlled in this manner, such as kunai and grenades. This paper has been imbued with the explosive property of the Shikigami, and rather than relying on assault, the technique had been designed for trickery. The paper can be placed anywhere, the ground, trees, or even a weapon. Once an enemy comes within two meters of the paper, the explosion is triggered automatically, using the proximity as a trigger. The push-back distance increases by one meter for each time retrained. Description: The user forms a series of hand seals and holds out both hands. A small wave of paper is released, its intend not to damage, but to push the opponent back. As it is only a quick burst of force, the paper thrust cannot be used to defend from ninjutsu techniques. Kami Yoroi no Jutsu (Paper Armor) [150 EXP] Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu, Defensive Range: Self Handseals: No. Chakra: Very High Special: Completely coats the user from head to toe in malleable paper armor which protects them from incoming damage. Maintaining the armor costs an additional low amount of chakra every turn. Defensive strength is equivalent to the user's rank of Crafting Paper Strength and Elemental Resistance. Description: A thin and lightweight armor ninjutsu, this technique covers the user from head to toe in paper. When blended correctly with other Shikigami Ninjutsu, the opponent usually will be incapable of even telling that the user is guarded in this manner. Should the opponent attack the user, they will find the paper defense in the ready to absorb the blow. An attack of equal strength to the user's Crafting Paper Strength will break the armor, creating the need for the armor to be recast, while an attack of greater strength will pierce through the defense, damaging the user. Description: With this simple Genjutsu, the illusionist creates the sensation of a wound onto anyone that they attack. After forming the needed seals, the user charges and strikes, and the illusion settles in. Although the victim(s) won't feel pain, they will feel the disadvantages of being injured, such as being able to walk less over a perceived broken for, or being unable to form handseals due to an imaginary chopped off hand. Ashigatsuru no Jutsu (Jelly Dead Leg) [50 EXP] Rank: C Type: Basic Genjutsu Handseals: Yes. Chakra: Mid Special: Affects a single target, plus one more each time retrained. Description: With this simple illusion, the target will begin to feel their logs loose and wobbly, almost as if they had become glue or jelly. This forces the victim to not feel pain, but instead lose balance and feel wobbly. Domain: Universal Genjutsu
Kitsunenomado (Spaghetti Fingers) [50 EXP] Rank: C Type: Basic Genjutsu Handseals: Yes Chakra: Mid Special: Affects a single target, plus one more each time retrained. Description: A useful almost immediate affect that most ninja soon come to love. The user performs the needed seals to activate the technique, and the target chosen by the user is immediately affected. The victim of this technique feels theirs hands twitch straight away, then become sluggish after the initial twitch, leaving the hands to feel slow. Almost as though their hands were losing feeling and becoming numb. This has a very high potential to mess up handseals in progress, and may slow down future seals. Domain: Genjutsu

Description: Magen • Jubaku Satsu is a more advanced Genjutsu technique utilized by illusion experts. After forming the needed hand seals, the caster will suddenly disappear and approach their target. Once near, a tree will grow at their feet and its branches will bind them so they can no longer move. Once the illusion makes them believe they are captured, the user will appear from within the very tree itself, allowing them an opening to attack their target effectively. Domain: Universal Genjutsu
Kuramu no Jutsu (Extremely Disorienting Color Spray) [100 EXP] Rank: B Type: Basic Genjutsu Handseals: Yes. Chakra: High Special: Affects a single target, plus one more each time retrained. Description: After performing the needed seals, the user then targets a person with in range of the technique. The person targeted first shows signs on the technique immediately. From their point of view, the world that they’re looking at is twisting and turning rapidly in different directions, making it very hard to see. After a while disorientation kicks in and the person may feel nauseous and dizzy. Domain: Universal Genjutsu
Magen • Narakumi no Jutsu (Demonic Illusion • Hell Viewing Technique) [25 EXP] Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Offensive / Specialized Job Technique / Sense Genjutsu Range: See special! Chakra: Mid - High Special: Can only affect up to one victim at a time, and they must be within eyesight of the caster. Description: Magen • Narakumi no Jutsu is a specialized Genjutsu technique utilized by ANBU to instill fear into their targets, either for combat or interrogation. The illusion is so strong that it essentially causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The ANBU will use the serpent hand seal to cause a circle of leaves or any loose particles nearby to spin and envelop the target and then fall away. Once cast the world will appear normal to the target until they see the illusion. Domain: ANBU, Genjutsu Secondary for C - B, Genjutsu Primary for A - S rank.
Horoshi no Jutsu (Creeping Crawling Skin) [50 EXP] Rank: C Type: Basic Genjutsu Handseals: Yes Chakra: Mid Special: Affects a single target, plus one more each time retrained. Description: Once the needed seals have been formed, the target of the victim becomes aware of movement under their own skin, like there’s something underneath. At this point the skin on the victim breaks open into little holes, and hundreds of ants climb from the openings. These ants quickly cover the victim’s skin and overwhelm them. This can act as a major distraction as the victim will generally try to get them off in a panic. Domain: Universal Genjutsu
Kasumi Juusha no Jutsu (Mist Servant Technique) [25 EXP] Rank: D Type: Basic Genjutsu Handseals: Yes Chakra: Low Special: Creates a single Mist Servant each time trained, which mimics the user in appearance in every way and exists solely to distract the opponent. This is achieved via false attacks which incorporate user's equipment in the hands of the illusionary clone. Description: Kasumi Juusha no Jutsu is a universal sight Genjutsu technique that creates false attackers to delay and confuse the enemy. Though these servants are not real, the actual ninja is able to remain hidden and throw projectiles such as kunai and shuriken matching the movements of the servants. This makes it appear the false servants are capable of attacking. When the enemy attempts to attack the servant, they will merely disrupt the servants illusion body but not destroy it. Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Replacement Technique) [5 EXP][Known Twice] Rank: E Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: 0 - 5 meters Handseals: No. Chakra: Very Low Special: Switch is near-instantaneous. Kawarimi can only be used once per thread, plus one more each time retrained. However, the technique itself can only be used once per turn, regardless of retraining. Requires the user to switch with objects equal or smaller in size; cannot switch with other living people or animals. Description: This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack - i.e. exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise. Domain: Academy Ninjutsu.
Genjutsu Kai! (Release) [175 EXP] Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Handseals: Yes. Chakra: See special! Special: User can only release themselves from illusions of equal or lower rank. Chakra costs is equal to the Genjutsu being dispelled. Description: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell. Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) [50 EXP] Rank: D Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu / High-Speed Movement Range: 0 - 10 meters Handseals: No. Chakra: Low Special: Shunshin no Jutsu is a high-speed movement in which the user moves in a linear fashion from one point to another. Usually facilitated with some sort of distraction (smoke bomb, explosion, or something of that nature to obscure one's vision), the user of the Shunshin no Jutsu can, in some cases, appear to have simply teleported from one location to another. Shunshin no Jutsu can be used once per thread, plus once more each time it is retrained. Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique, it simple combines high mobility with a distraction to give off the appearance of vanishing - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to. Domain: Shunshin - Universal Ninjutsu.
Notice: Contrary to popular belief, this technique is by no means instantaneous. While a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, you're still quite visible and easily defended against. Simply put, it isn't incomprehensibly fast. Beyond normal, most definitely, but not nearly as fast as it's been portrayed thus far. In order to achieve maximum effect, you'll need to combine it with a distraction of some sort.
