The trio walked in comfortable silence, a welcome change from the petty small talk he often had to indulge in. Ahead of the lower-ranked pair, Tokubetsu-Jounin 'Nagisa' played the role of chaperone, but otherwise ignoring the two while leading them through dimly-lit corridors; they were prohibited from venturing off-course, and denied access to anything outside the boundaries of their immediate assignment. Rael's interest in these areas was piqued, but he knew better than to stick his nose where it didn't belong. The path they were following soon began to slope downwards, indicating they were venturing below ground level to where the specimen was held. In the worst case scenario, should anyone or anything attempt to escape, they could forcibly collapse the entire underground portion of the facility. A temporary solution, to be certain, but hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
Especially since it implied neither he nor the Hyuuga would be making it out alive.
Rael's expression remained withdrawn, but he paid rapt attention as Hikaru's described this odd jelly-like creature to the best of her abilities, nodding periodically to show he was still listening. The extra tidbit about the entity possessing a core of sorts, he mentally jotted down, wondering if it perhaps functioned as the 'brain'. If that was the case, they would need to somehow isolate it from the rest of its aqueous body. However, their immediate problem lay in the fact they had no sure-fire method of dealing with the blob in general. Regular taijutsu was out, as he had no intention of maintaining physical contact with the thing that somehow ate Hayashi.
"Unfortunately, your guess is as good as mine at the moment. There is a chance that exceptionally powerful Katon-based ninjutsu or even Youton might work to evaporate the liquid. However, those with mastery in these two releases are rare in Kirigakure. There is also the option of carving out an underground fissure where it could be left, but that would be outside the scope of our mission. Plus, it would require a permanent sentry to keep tabs on making sure it didn't come back." He briefly focused on the woman up in front, but she gave no sign of listening to their conversation, and thus did nothing to confirm or refute his assumptions. A bit strange, really; he'd have thought she would at least tell them what others tried so far, lest they wasted time on an approach that already failed.
"What do you suppose would happen if it were released back into the ocean?" He had no idea where the creature originated from, but it seemed a bit farfetched to think it wandered here from somewhere like the deserts of Wind Country. Mizu no Kuni was surrounded on all sides by larges bodies of water, so perhaps it emerged from the depths somewhere around the many outlying islands.
