Without him even noticing, and luckily to the bartender's inattention as well, Rael's grip on the glass of rum unconsciously tightened until it nearly cracked, and only a swift recovery of control prevented the Genin from blowing his cover. He didn't dare get his hopes up, not this early into a mission that should have, at minimum, taken the two Kiri-nin a week to complete. However, it was impossible to hide from her the gleam of excitement that showed in his eyes; hopefully she would only interpret his newfound interest as a chance to satisfy any hidden perversions. He kept silent a little longer, before finally venturing forward with caution, devoting his entire focus towards hearing her explanation.
"Then, with all due respect, miss...?"
"Tayuma," she answered breezily, apparently not all all bothered freely giving her name. Rael inclined his head respectfully, as though appreciating her willingness to divulge her identity, even if he suspected it was fake. "With all due respect, Tayuma-san, I would have to say either, a) You're just teasing a poor lonely man, who nonetheless appreciates bantering with a very pretty lady, or b) You've got some very, very special connections, in which case I admit, I'd be afraid of accidentally stepping on someone's toes, regardless of my answer." Another sip, another urge to retch. "Are you sure you're not available?"
'Tayuma' drew back, crossing her arms but not appearing all that offended. On the contrary, she seemed rather...pleased? "I'm afraid you're not my type, but points for trying. However, I can get you what you want," she made a small 'come hither' gesture with the crook of her finger, and Rael leaned in despite himself, "if you're willing to pay for it. And might I add, 'it' doesn't come cheap." She gave him what was likely supposed to be a sultry smile, but it made the Genin more sick than anything. Suddenly, his earlier appreciation of the woman's...assets, were discarded in favor of sheer disgust. However, the charade wasn't over, and so he still had a part to play.
"Well, Tayuma-san, if I was worried about something trivial like that, he reached into his coat once more, fingers brushing against the decoy cigarette carton before pulling out another wad of bills, "I wouldn't be here in the first place. Besides, some things are worth it. It's a pity though; I'd gladly offer five times more for a simple, quiet evening with you." My entire last month's pay is there. Even if I have to pry it from her cold, dead hands, I am getting it back. Grinning wickedly, the bartender, though by now he knew better than to believe that was her real occupation, accepted the sizable bundle of notes and discretely slipped them somewhere under the counter.
"I knew you were a smart man, Mr...?"" "Haruki." "Why don't you keep this bored woman company a little while longer. I'll tell you what you need to know, after your 'friend' is done with his little bit of fun."
"You're too kind, Tayuma-san."
