There was little he could've done to defend himself against a mediocre assault; however, the onslaught that the yukina had provided was beyond overkill. He had no problem with dying - he'd lived his life to the fullest, enjoying every second that he took the life of someone else. He'd made misery his business; dealin' pain and torture to those beneath him was somethin' he'd been gifted with doing.

There wasn't an astonishing moment of revelation, or some blinding white light. No. Kurotsuchi's world simply turned black as the needles went to work, an endless void beyond time and space.

Until the flames came.

Back in the world of the living, there would be very little left of the bastard's corpse. So many needles had butchered his flesh and bone beyond recognition, leavin' little beyond a human-sized acupuncture doll several times over. Oddly enough, his loot had remained untouched; call it luck or masterful precision, but the five hundred ryo would be the yukina's reward. . .

. . . along with the honor of avenging his family at last.

The man that had so skillfully placed himself behind Shin could only muster a look of surprise as his blade struck nothin' but ice, the recoil causin' the weapon to shake in his iron-like grip. With his first target well out of reach, there wasn't anything left to do but turn on the next victim on his list: the girl.

Pivoting on his heel without so much as a hint of hesitation, the thug hastily began his approach to the girl while anchoring the blade high above his head-- until he felt something awkward.

It felt as though every disgusting critter in the world had peeled under his flesh and now couldn't stay still, causing him to drop his weapon cold and start scratching, clawing, and slapping himself. It was a horrendous mind-trick, but one that he was incapable of breaking by himself.

All the while, Kurotsuchi was hardly impressed with the Yukina's display of acrobatic skill or the girl's genjutsu. He'd already completed his seals before the ice-boy took to the skies, and despite his single-handed technique or the fact he had reached for some item, there was little he could do in the middle of the air while spinnin' and flippin'. In fact, that is the probably the only reason he'd be forced to take the hit from what was coming next.

Like a cluster of bats fleein' the gates of Hell, five spheres of liquid shot from Kurotsuchi's mouth¹, all aimed to slam into the airborne Yukina and send him crashin' back down to the earth below. Considerin' their speed, and the fact that Shin had no method to properly avoid in the middle of his flip-and-twist, the likely hood that he'd be struck was almost guaranteed. Fortunately for him, it wasn't a fatal assault; however, the fall might've been if he landed the wrong way.

As for the other four, they too fell victim to the girl's genjutsu. They stopped dead in their tracks, dropping their swords and all but falling to the ground it horror. "What's happening?!"

Strangely, Kurotsuchi was completely unaffected. "You're gonna have to try a lot harder than that, little girl."

Did she not know who he was? Shit crawling beneath his skin was the least of his worries.
