complicated? that was downplaying it a little. miyako couldn't think of a better word, herself, for the story he told. but while it was complicated, it sounded to be a lot more than that too. she didn't like to remember the destruction of konoha much herself. it was a horrible, dark time. there was a lot of crying, a lot of grieving, a lot of rebuilding. hearing that ashura had actually emerged from the wreckage and not been safe in hiding with the other children and civilians came as quite a shock. he would have been so young then, too. how scared must he have been? and alone? miyako frowned at the table as ryūsuke told her. ridiculously, she just wanted to go and find ashura and give him a big, mother-bear hug. hearing about how ryūsuke took him under his 'wing' replaced her frown with a smile, however and looking up at the table she caught his gaze.
his (rather out of the blue) compliment caught her entirely off guard and she immediately looked at the . usually, she could handle compliments smoothly. she had enough guys throwing them at her that she had gotten the hang of either responding to them or blowing them off - and most of the time, she did blow them off. those guys usually wanted one thing and one thing only and generally, miyako wasn't keen on the same thing. but tonight was different. she'd already made the "decision" to flirt with this guy (who wouldn't?) so after she'd gotten over the initial shock, she closed her mouth and purposefully bit her bottom lip. key tip she'd picked up from her older gay cousin: draw attention to your mouth. as she did, she averted her eyes, staring at her hands now clasped on the table, cheeks tinged pink.
she didn't generally get comments on her eyes. people tended to overlook them for other more prominent features. either he was a really smooth talker and knew what was going to get him in the good books, or he was just a genuine guy. she really hoped it was the latter. either way though, she was going for it. as she thought up something to say, miyako looked up at him through her lashes, a shy kind of smile gracing her lips.
"i can see where ashura gets it from. that charm."
