Oh god. The dreaded call had been issued once more. This same call was the source of many sleepless nights from Jack, embodying the essence of anxiety which plagued his ill-resting sleep on numerous occasions. These same summons had been authorized only twice in the past, nearly over a year ago, yet despite their infrequency they still haunted his memories as if it had only been yesterday.

Despite it being just short of midnight, the chuunin wearily awoke from his shallow slumbers and proceeded to answer his summon. Stopping only briefly by a convenience store to buy a fairly considerable sum of flavored chewing gun and a gallon of water, he’d report in to a hidden underground complex revealed to him from the last two repetitions. The lad then reluctantly entered to find the Hokage himself. Showing no trace of surprise, it stood as testament to the normalcy how things were about to unfold. Eyes glancing dreadfully at the mound of clay sitting between the two, Jack would silently sit down in resignation after nodding once to greet his avaricious leader, pausing only briefly to set the white plastic bag of gum to his side.

“This is a larger quantity than usual… The same request as before I presume?” With a sleepy voice, he’d confirm Asato’s wishes before listlessly reaching out for the first two handfuls of clay mass. The hands upon his mouth opening voraciously despite their master’s less than enthusiastic intent began chewing vigorously. It was going to be a long night…

{Why God, why...}Kibaku-Nendo, C2 Doragon (Exploding Clay, C2 Dragon)

One of the Kibaku-Nendo's specialties, this grand technique requires the use of both of hand-mouths in order to create a large dragon capable of flight, to the point the user can safely ride on its back. During this ride, the user can control the dragon, directing it where to go and even to attack - the dragon can spit out smaller clay figures that attack the opponent like guided missiles, as well as other offensive tactics. These independent missile-like creatures take the form of a greatly reduced version of the larger dragon that created them, yet despite the decrease in size they are still relatively larger than a normal person. Each is capable of tracking their intended target, but as they emerge, they consume a substantial amount of clay from the original dragon, initially extracting it from the creature's tail. This ultimately limits the number that each C2 "Dragon Missile" is capable of creating, before clay must be sacrificed from more vital areas, such as the body or wings. The dragon can also produce clay mines.

Note: This technique requires ten clay blobs, and three posts to prepare at which time no other jutsu may be performed. The dragon is capable of emitting 10 missiles and 25 mines before it will then only be able to serve as a means for transportation. These mines and missiles have a three meter explosion radius.

Though initially a bit confused on how they’d carry out their mission objectives, Jack would quickly come to learn that this young genin did in fact have a few decent ideas swimming around that hollowed skull of his. Nodding with satisfaction at the prearranged caravan, he’d express a voice of approval while shaking hands firmly with the merchant. After that, he’d promptly enter the vehicle, at which point Akuseru’s approval rating had dropped rather sharply.

Rather than discussing the execution of phase two in the plan, his junior had gone off rambling about sweets. Lips pursing visible, he’d inhale slowly before deciding to follow the team leader’s example. After all, the entire point of being assigned to this squad was to allow the younger generation to safely garner experience, no? Contemplating his response for a moment, he’d look at Anuen skeptically in order to gauge his reaction regarding the conversation topic before proceeding. “Cheese cake. - preferably with cherries or raspberries. It’s got to be cold too, fresh out of the cooler.”

Waiting patiently for Anuen’s response, he’d listen halfheartedly while contemplating their next move on his own. Should they appear immediately and ward off the bandits? Perhaps they should hide and allow the bandits to ransack the caravan a bit while catching them by surprise? The second one sounded more appealing despite the merchants getting the short end of the stick.

While mulling over these options, the caravan suddenly ground to a halt. It appeared as though the driver had been unseated by force. “Ha-ha-ha! Well lookey here! These dumb fucks just don’t learn huh? Didn’t we run this one dry just last week? Looks like the tubby little porker came back to give us seconds!” An abrupt cry sounded followed by a rather loud thud of the merchant making contact with the bandit’s foot. “Sweep it clean boys! We’re taking it all!” The sound of footsteps quickly approached their team’s wagon, stopping just short of the curtains that concealed the three shinobi.

Budging not a single inch until the Hokage was safely out of sight and out of mind; Jack would slowly rise from his kneeling position while letting out an incredibly heavy sigh of relief. “Hoooooolyyy craaap. We’re alive! And we’re going to get paid! That could’ve gone SO MUCH WORSE…” Wiping what little sweat remained from his brow, he’d laugh heartily and then pat his team mates on the back. “All we need to do now is keep Sprouty here alive and we can keep our heads… for now...” His demeanor quickly sobered up as these words were spoken. Finally recollecting his resolve, he’d proceed past the gates with his fellow villagers. “First round of drink’s on Sarutobi for almost getting us killed!” he’d declare while tromping in.

From his position directly behind the young genin, Jack cracked a toothy grin upon seeing this startled reaction. Judging from the looks of things, his little surprise had caught the kid off guard. That said, it appeared as though their commotion had finally roused the bear from its slumber. An irritated cry split through the forest from what he presumed to be their final member. Accompanying the outburst followed a fairly sized rock, aimed straight at the shinobi’s maw.

Without losing his composure, the chuunin would simply lean thirty degrees to the left, allowing the projectile to soar past. Given his relatively larger wealth of experience, something like this would be treated as child’s play. He did pause however as the stone continued along its course. In hindsight he had forgotten that their esteemed team leader was directly behind him. Hopefully the lad was quick on his toes and evaded as well.

Tom-foolery aside (or so he thought), he’d then join in on staring at Song’s bowl cut. Though he too was originally ignoring that fact, it was far too much given his junior’s uncontrolled and poorly timed outbursts. Leaning over to briefly mutter something in Akuseru’s ear, he’d lower his voice to a whisper. “I know right? And what’s with that white stripe? It looks kind of like a cracked bowl, or some kinda chip. I bet he’s a douche.”

Returning back to his original standing posture, he’d then let out a cough to clear his throat before nodding with vigor as their team leader attempted to redirect the conversation to a more appropriate subject.

“Jack, can you help me get this thing home?”

Against his better judgement, the shinobi nodded in agreeance without further questioning. Closing the distance between him and his allies, he’d kneel down momentarily while a hand delved into the large brown leather bag at his side. Given a moment or two, the lad finally retrieved what appeared to be molding clay. Unlike his explosive clay used for familial arts, this rather mundane substance served one purpose and one purpose alone – practice and diversion.

“Uhh, yeah. Sure, why not? You want a to-go box or a pot or what?... We need sprouts for stir fry tonight anyway.” With a masterful skill that seemed almost wasted in doing so, the shinobi’s nimble hands quickly created a reasonably sized, cylindrical container to house the plant in. Though not baked, and thus lacking solidarity one would expect from a normal clay pot, it’d still serve the purpose of housing vegetation rather comfortably while remaining in transit.

After doing so, he’d move over toward the sprout and gently scoop small handfuls of earth around the plant, clearing out the surrounding dirt in order to properly unearth the roots without damaging them. With enough patience he’d eventually retrieve the article in question, intact and whole. With a bit of care and caution, he’d then replant the sprout safely in his make shift pot, housing it in the soil which it had survived in. Brushing his hands clean of loose debris and dirt, he’d then force Akuseru to take hold of the container, both physically and metaphorically passing over the burden wrought by this thing to his team leader. “Well then, shall we?” And with that he’d take his leave.

“What the fuck?!?...” An outburst of confusion sounded from the shinobi as he casually walked to the team’s agreed upon rally point. A single paper rest crumpled in his hands as he traveled to meet his new partners. Now normally in such a circumstance, one would think he’d be anxious or excited, but today? A simple display of dread remained plastered on Jack’s face.

The roster as listed on the tattered sheet in his hand indicated that a three man squad was formed, consisting of two genins and himself, a chuunin. Now normally this wouldn’t be too unusual, however the team itself was named after one of the genins, who had also been denoted as team leader. Though not too particularly troubled over the chain of command (second class citizens were still second class regardless of the mishandlings of bureaucracy), the lad was clearly flustered at the office’s reasoning for doing so. According to higher ups, they wanted to give these genin an accelerated learning curve while building a sense of leadership with a reasonable safety net in place. Translation? He was on babysitting duty – which was something that would normally go down poorly were it not for the fact that the Hokage himself had formed the team.

With little room for objection, the shinobi only had one course of action remaining. Rendezvous with his fellow team mates and see that they saw the mission to success.

Nearing the clearing that was agreed upon, he’d slow his pace as wild shouting echoed from beyond the last fence of trees. "Team Akuseru, assemble!.. Team Akuseru, assemble!.. Team Akuseru, assemble!.." Lone eyebrow raising skeptically, he’d behold the spectacle of their esteemed leader practicing what appeared to be a call to gather. Stifling a laugh at the shenanigans before him, he’d wait patiently in the shadows to time his appearance. “Team Akuseru! --"

With nothing short of flawless timing, he’d flicker directly behind the inexperienced genin, completing the line in unison with the youth. His voice roared fiercely with a vitality that would echo throughout the woods. “ASSEMBLE!”

With the coalescing light slowly taking form, a gargantuan being of titanic proportions unraveled from the inexplicable mass before him. Eyes widened out of disbelief and awe, the shinobi couldn’t help but let his jaw fall slack as he witnessed the event unfold. Countless thoughts quickly fled through his mind, thinking primarily upon his mission objective and how they’d apply to the current circumstance. His eyes would move ever so briefly between his fellow villagers in order to gauge their understanding of the situation. Instead however, they’d stop short, glued upon the sight of Anuen’s fleeing figure.

And… suddenly Anders understood what the S in an S rank mission stood for. Shit pay, shit survival rates, and getting shafted. “You’ve gotta be shi--"

Without warning, a concussive shockwave of unseen proportions surged forth, blasting away what little cover the shinobi had used before. Along with the young genin, Jack too was vaulted backwards into the air, his figure sent flying from where he stood. While in transit, an uneasy sense of nausea came across the lad. Rather than attempt a controlled landing, his body curled up in order to assure a safer one as he’d find himself displaced away from the epicenter. Taking a few moments to focus his mind while regathering his sense of balance, he’d cautiously fall back behind what little cover the terrain provided in the form of minor hills. Now seventy meters away from the foreign entity, he’d reassess his surroundings while frowning incredulously at his underclassman’s nonchalant response.
