He spoke to ease his anticipation as the day progressed into the night. The young genin had managed the town’s defenses as he best could, as best he knew how, but both his age and apparent inexperience had warranted little respect and command. Regardless he had managed and done all he could, everything now was left in their hands. Should an enemy attack, he would have to burden their incompetence. Against the orange illumination of the setting sun he moved to the roof, an appropriate place for any shinobi.

The sight of two shinobi dancing under the moonlight, what a sight to see, to be apart of. Shiori would not get his dream, not this night, as a person’s silhouette appeared from the left side of the harbor seeming falling onto the seven docked ships. It was a harbinger of fiery death and explosion onto three of the ships. Ninja!

Patient he watched the figure move closer to his position and atop of a lamppost. There was no mistaking, no doubting, that what brought death to the three would be recreated on the remaining four and Shiori’s positioning couldn’t have been better. The man was atop a lamppost in the center of the remaining ships and slightly ajar to the tower’s position at the center of the docks just fifteen meters to his back.

Unlike before the shinobi released a steady spew of flame that required much more time than previous to be fully utilized and this allowed Shiori to close the cap in time. Within ten meters, seals finished, he expelled a translucent syrupy liquid¹ to shower the shinobi from the back down, intending specifically to mark feet.

Due to a positioning error and misinterpretation on my part, Shiori’s leap comes from the side of Sarutobi and he flies right overhead the monkey. His action continues of him showering down the jutsu, which would undoubtedly miss leaving him falling down to the monkey’s previous position atop the lamppost. With quick reflexes he latches onto the lamppost as the monkey continues on its previous mentioned route, leaving him to deal with its created destruction.

Mizuame Nabara is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. After forming the needed handseals, the user will expel a sticky liquid from their gullet. This liquid can cover approximately 20 square meters. If the target runs on top of the liquid, their feet will become glued to its sticky surface. If the ninja focuses chakra to their feet before touching the surface, they can hover above and move over it without hindrance.

Note: Water is not necessary beforehand to perform this jutsu.

That is what Shiori thought as he left the Land of Rice and returned to Mizu no Kuni. What he learned in his return had confirmed many of his suspicions.

Would Kirigakure, Mizu no Kuni, be ready? Upon arriving in Miyako no Mizu, he got his answer: no. The merchants spread rumors of the declaration, gossip and bits and pieces of the Hokage’s speech. But a good majority of the residents didn’t believe, didn’t have enough reason to. They found the Hokage’s speech to be gibberish. Yet the threat of war, even if thought to be nothing but rumor, had increased security around the docks and banks. But otherwise the atmosphere was too calm, it unnerved him. It was akin to being in the eye of a storm.

Shiori chose to reinforce the position, by this time he figured Kirigakure would or should be in the midst of combat and hopefully more prepared than this city. There was only one position he could take and that was the city’s lone tower. Centered in the middle of the docks (50m tall) it offered a complete vantage of the harbor with limited view inland. Primarily it was used to monitor the comings and goings of ships, and known to serve as a makeshift lighthouse in emergencies.

Vee’s scream caught me off guard and the words that follow were less than appeasing. I hadn’t overlooked his puppet, had I? Following his instructions I turn slowly and he’s right. A bit obscure, but surely enough the scythe is there. “This is my defeat.” I offer a bow and smile before cutting off a piece of my sleeve and using it to wrap my hand.

It took a moment for me to realize the extent of damage the kunai had done. The bone hadn’t been pierced but managed to cut through some tendons on its path, my movements were noticeably (50%) slower but overall retained use. The puppet moved, its arm extending into an arc and I sprinted forward as if seekings its embrace. My body low and positioned slightly ajar to the puppet’s left so I wasn’t running in a complete frontal charge. All the while building chakra in my right arm. It jerked down! Right as the distance was closed and immediately I’m lunging forward slamming my right palm¹ into the puppet. Driving it up into the thrown kunai as the momentum carried it back (2m) at Vee.

I wasted no time in throwing the kunai in my left hand to Vee’s upper right torso. Following this action I retrieved three of my own shuriken with the same hand. Ready to strike, I wouldn’t rush forward, the actions of a puppet were not restricted to human movements or speed. I’d need to be careful with my next approach, the last thing I wanted the was the puppet at my back.

By consciously feeding their chakra into their palms, the user will quickly rush forward, driving the charged appendage forward and into their opponent. The result is devastating, with all the accumulated power of the palm being unloaded onto the user's victim. Finally, with all the chakra released, the opponent's body is knocked back several feet, left to rag-doll and wither.

Note: This ability can knock a single target back up to two meters.
