He watched his new teacher's hands come together in a fluid motion, one that rivaled the water he assumed it would be used to summon. Each sign distinct in its shape yet also at the same time completely familiar to him, the basics of ninjutsu had been beaten into him so hard that the seals had become a second language to him. I am indeed familiar with these seals; Iwagakure despite its lack of fame does have the rudimentary academy teaching of seals installed into its graduation requirement. So this seems simple enough, but it is after all the tip of the iceberg. He heard him speak the name of the jutsu that they planned to learn, mizurappa, it had water in the name which of course hinted to its chakra nature but beyond that he had not the slightest clue of what its purpose was, defensive, offensive, he was certain however it was a technique of high caliber though, why else would his sensei teach it too him? Or even at that have it in his arsenal to use, a ninja does not walk around with a mastery over useless jutsu, unless of course they were the gag jutsu that academy students found so hilarious, but Yuuza was a better man then that.
He mentally took down the seals, aiming to memorize them in his head before he even tried to execute them, it was not a race, if he put in the right amount of effort and time he would have this jutsu down and ready to use in no time flat. Let’s see Bird, Ox, Serpent, and Boar yes I think I have them memorized in my head, four seals seems rather basic and easy to learn. He closed his eyes and then opened them putting his hand together once, twice, thrice, and a final time all with about a two seconds between then a second time with one second between and then a final time with the speed that he normally executed jutsu. The final time that he tried to execute at his top speed it became a bit sloppy, prompting him to try it a few more times so that he was sure he wouldn’t mess up and seem an incompetent student. He wanted to get it right before he started on the actual field testing of the jutsu, which he assumed his teacher would first demonstrate for him, if he was meant to do it himself, well then he wouldn’t know if he had performed the jutsu correctly and in an actual battle that would end up being the difference between life and death.
He then presented his demonstration of the seals to his sensei. The Bird seal came together with all the speed of a diving swallow, the Ox was created with the force of a charging bison, the Serpent suddenly appeared with the vicious lunging speed of a viper, and the Boar completed it with a thud. He smiled as if he were a child showing his father a shiny nickel he had just found, or an A plus he had just received on a test, and then quickly realized he was being a bit haughty and retracted his thoughts of success and plunged himself back into the fact that all he had done was step on the first tile down a long corridor. At the very least now if he messed up with the jutsu he would be able to skillfully and with excellent haste reproduce the same jutsu over and over without fail, and with a semi ample amount of time he would like to try and not test the patience of his sensei with the delay of a sloppily sealed jutsu.
Alright, I seem to have the handseals down. Now what should I be looking forward to learning? He was eager to see a grand jutsu but with so few handseals what could he expect but a blast of water? He felt a bit sour for already seeking out a pessimistic train of thought when he was in the middle of training, but he couldn’t help it. He wished he had started with more complicated training but he supposed he had to in a sense “stretch” before he took on strenuous activity, and a low ranking jutsu was perfect for that, also he was still a fledgling genin, it wasn’t as if he could perform the jutsu that were of such high tier that they required the handseals that would birth massive creations. In fact he was training he supposed exactly as a genin was meant to be, this was the appropriate level for him and his sensei knew it. So he waited to see an example, and he would force himself to accept and be awed by the effects of this soon to be demonstrated display of total water control.
