But at what cost? Have they become the very thing that they despised the most...? Heroes and villains seem to change roles every day, but one thing is for certain - we yearn for our freedom, for days gone by where we flew the skies unhindered.
As the sun began it's early morning ascent, it seemed that some of the villagers of Konoha had already preceded it's rising with their own, getting to work on restoring the ninja village back to it's former glory. Daisetsu was one of the few members of this community who was up and ready to serve... of sorts. His task was a menial one, but every little helps right??
As the young shinobi approached the iconic gates, he took a moment to curb his feelings of nationalistic pride and flashed his Konoha identification and his mission slip to the guards that stood at the entrance to the village.
"I won't be long," he muttered as they quickly scanned his I.D. and waved him on.
It seemed that several young Shinobi were upping their mission rate, so they were ready for the biggest competition of the year, the Chuunin Exams. It seemed like a win-win situation for everyone; the village would receive funding from those who requested it's services, and the ninja involved gained valuable experience. Daisetsu wanted to get in on the action. He had dreams too you know!
As he entered the tower, he quickly looked to the roster of missions available. There was no reason he couldn't ease himself into the process after the arduous training he had put himself through in the last few days.

Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Replacement Technique) Rank: E Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: 0 - 5 meters Special: Switch is near-instantaneous. When first learned, Kawarimi can only be used once per thread, plus one more each time retrained. Can only be used once per turn, regardless of retraining.. Requires the user to switch with objects equal or smaller in size; cannot switch with other living people or animals. Description: This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack - i.e. exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise. Domain: Academy Student Ninjutsu.
Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) Rank: E Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Special: Allows the user to transform into any person, object or animal of normal/small/miniature size. Transformation can be held for one turn, plus one more each time retrained. Description: Henge no Jutsu is a very basic ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at their respective village's Shinobi Academy. Henge allows the user to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents. Domain:Academy Student Ninjutsu.
Bunshin no Jutsu (Clone Technique) Rank: E Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Special: Allows the user to create a clone without substance that resembles the user in every way, including retaining its movement speed. Clones cannot mold chakra nor perform jutsu, nor can they harm. Up to one clone can be made, plus one more each time retrained. Description: Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance that, although easily seen through by those with doujutsu, can fool the normal eye easily. Why? Simply because although without substance, the copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent, though no real damage can be done by it. Finally, as soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse. Domain: Academy Student Ninjutsu.
Nawanuke no Jutsu (Escaping Skill) Rank: E Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self. Special: Ineffective against complex, electronic, or unique binds. Description: Nawanuke no Jutsu is a very basic Ninjutsu technique that allows a ninja to escape from rope binds. Domain: Academy Students Ninjutsu.
Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) Rank: D,D Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu / High-Speed Movement Range: 0 - 10 meters Chakra: Low Special: Flickering is near-instantaneous forward movement, meaning the user will rush almost instantly to wherever they are facing as chakra pushes their legs to inhumane levels. The user can flicker once per thread, plus once more each time retrained. One cannot attack or perform techniques during Shunshin. Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique, it allows a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed - to an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. Such a feat is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily vitalise the body and move at extreme speeds they would otherwise be unable to reproduce. In the end, the user will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly should they need it. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance. Domain: Shunshin - Universal Ninjutsu.
Genjutsu Kai! (Release) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Chakra: See special! Special: User can only release themselves from illusions of equal or lower rank. Chakra costs is equal to the Genjutsu being dispelled. Description: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell. Domain: Universal Ninjutsu.
Hien (Flying Swallow) Rank: B Type: Offensive / Taijutsu Range: 0 - 5 meters Special: Chakra blade cannot extend further than half what the total weapon measures. Description: By unconsciously feeding their chakra into any bladed weapon, the user will manage to extend the length of the weapon by providing an extra extension of invisible chakra. This creation will yield an extremely sharp edge that functions like the normal blade itself. By seeing only the user's bladed weaponry, the opponent may miss the Hien and misjudge how far they need to move to avoid an incoming strike. As a result, even if they manage to avoid the metal portion of the blade, the chakra portion may cut into them as well. Domain: Universal Taijutsu.
Fuuinjutsu Ikkou (Storage Sealing Technique) Rank: D, C, B , A, S Type: Supplementary / Juuinjutsu (Seals & Barriers) Range: Hand's reach. Special: Allows the storage of various different items either onto a scroll or onto oneself via the generic seal. Can seal items equal to highest rank known. Sealing and unsealing items costs a 'C' ranked amount of chakra per batch time. Description: This technique is a standard ninja skill which allows a ninja to summon an assortment of items that have been stored using fūinjutsu. Scrolls are the most common choice for item storage. When needed, the owner will activate the seals releasing their item or weapon of choice. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons or have other seals inside of them, which expands the number of potential tricks a shinobi can use. Weapons are the most commonly sealed objects, with puppet jutsu also using this by having these hidden inside various compartments as a means of increasing their own killing potential as well as hiding useful weapons from the opponent's sight. Fuuka Houin (Elemental Sealing Method) Rank: D, C, B , A, S Type: Supplementary / Juuinjutsu (Seals & Barriers) Range: Hand's reach. Special: Allows the storage of elemental chakra equal to highest rank known. Unsealing elemental jutsu costs one rank less than what the jutsu is worth. Description: This jutsu allows the user to seal any release chakra, basic or advanced, into a scroll. The user first places the seal on a scroll and then performs the required hand seals. This causes a countering elemental creation to appear from the scroll, enveloping the release chakra one wishes to acquire and sealing it on the scroll. in the end, the result is the scroll possessing the kanji for seal (封). Fuuin Teppeki (Sealed Iron Wall) Rank: D, C, B , A, S Type: Supplementary + Defensive / Juuinjutsu (Seals & Barriers) Range: Hand's reach. Special: Highest jutsu rank determines barrier defense. Can be used on any door or gate-like structure. Description: A simple yet essential barrier technique, this is placed on any door or gate, large or small, so that it provides a thin yet durable layer of invisible chakra. This chakra acts as an extra reinforcing wall, ensuring nothing penetrates. However, a sufficiently strong enough strike can still break through. Domain: Universal Juuinjutsu.
Gogyou Fuuin (Five Elements Seal) Rank: D, C, B , A, S Type: Supplementary / Juuinjutsu (Seals & Barriers) Range: Hand's reach. Special: Blocks use of all chakra related techniques equal to highest rank known. Lasts until seal is removed, or until a greater chakra power such as a Bijuu or a Chakra Gates of equal rank break through it. Description: This jutsu produces a powerful seal that is used to block or disturb the flow of chakra in a target. Once the seal is completed, the target will become unconscious and unable to fight for a short time. Description: As its name implies, this sealing technique follows up the Five Elements Seal by producing the opposite effect - effectively, it can remove any seal of equal power of any surface! Keiyaku Fuuin (Contract Seal Enslavement) Rank: D, C, B , A, S Type: Supplementary / Juuinjutsu (Seals & Barriers) Range: Hand's reach. Special: Works on NPC's mythical creatures, PC Summons & Animal Companions - never on humans or bijuu. Requires an amount of chakra equal to the targets strength. Takes one post to completely seal the target, and control lasts until seal is removed, or until it is dispelled by a greater chakra power such as a Bijuu or a Chakra Gates of equal rank. Seal must be placed somewhere on creature's body, and the user of the seal as well as the recipient must be completely still during the process. Description: When the user implements this fuuinjutsu on a summoned creature, it removes any control the creature has over itself and grants it to the user of the seal. Essentially, this means that the user of this technique gains temporary control over the summoned creature. Close contact and the summoner's blood appears to be required for the implementation of the seal. Domain: Universal Juuinjutsu.
Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Technique) Rank: C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Special: Can only summon things of equal or lower rank. Description: A powerful jutsu intended to call forth aid when in dire need, Kuchiyose allows a ninja to summon animals and objects out of thin air and into the battlefield in order to fight on their behalf. The ninja normally signs a blood contract with the animal species, which allows them to summon different size and skill levels of creature. Finally, signing this contract also allows the animal to reverse summon the human ninja to their location. Domain: Kuchiyose - Universal Ninjutsu.
Kazekaeshi (Wind Return) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Defensive / Fuuton Ninjutsu Range: See special! Special: Effective in blocking and returning ninjutsu and taijutsu of equal rank. Push-back distance starts off at 10 meters, and increases by 10 more with each new rank acquired. Description: No one knows the power of Fuuton more than a Fuuton specialist, and this technique was designed by those that met reality sooner than most. Varying by skill and rank, this technique allows the user to take hold of any offensive jutsu used upon them, as along as the attack’s nature allows for whatever is thrown to be controlled. With a great burst of chakra at either their hands or weapons, the user quickly returns the technique back at the opponent, in full effect. Domain: Fuuton.
Kaiten Shuriken (Rotating Shuriken) Rank: D Type: Supplementary / Fuuton Ninjutsu Range: 10+ meters Special: Wind boost travels up to 10 meters and can control up to 5 projectiles at a time; when relearned, the wind gains 10 extra meters of travel and 5 more projectiles to control. Description: One of the simplest Fuuton techniques, this supplementary technique allows the user to take any secondary/projectile weaponry they have on them and coat them in Fuuton chakra. This allows the user to shoot them at high speeds under the wind manipulation, adding rotation and tumbling power to increase the speed of normal weapon attacks, as well as its deadliness. Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough) Rank: C Type: Offensive / Fuuton Ninjutsu Range: 10+ meters Special: Wind blast can travel 10 meters, plus 10 more each time relearned. Due to the pressure of the wind blasts on the lungs, this can only be used once per thread, plus once more each time retrained. Description: A staple Fuuton technique, Daitoppa allows the user to blow a single strong current from their mouth, expelled in a cone like fashion forward which carries enough power to knock anything in its way down. This technique is very simple to execute – the user makes the right seals, simply takes a deep breath, and let’s go! Domain: Fuuton.
Kunai Spring Rank: C Type: Modification Special: May hold only one kunai. Takes up two 'pack' slots. Kunai springs out twice as fast as a kunai travelling through the air, to be used as a melee weapon or for defence. Description: This item allows the user to instantly extend and retract kunai from their sleeve using a spring-loaded wire. Cost: 500 Ryo
Kunai (Throwing Knife) Rank: D Type: Secondary / Melee + Ranged Special: 2 per Pack. Description: This throwing knife is one of the common weapons of a ninja. It is often kept in a holster on the leg in a pouch attached to the belt. What makes it so versatile and universal is the fact the Kunai can be used in conjunction with explosive tags and other weapons to form deadly combos out of simple, easily accessible items. Exploding Note Rank: D Type: Tool / Area of Effect Range: 0 - 5 meters Special: 10 per pack Description: The exploding note is a piece of parchment paper infused with special chakra, layered over with a special script on it that serves to enable and facilitate its explosive properties. Its execution is simple - the ninja can attach the note to another object such as a kunai or log, and upon activation, the note is set and begins either a slow countdown burn, which eventually results in a large explosion, or the explosion in itself upon command. Blank Scrolls Rank: C Type: Accessory / Self Special: - Description: Scrolls remain one of the most important pieces of equipment in a ninja's arsenal. Because of their size, multiple scrolls can be carried into battle in the front pouches of a flak jacket or in a satchel. This will save space and not sacrifice a much needed piece of equipment which may be required later. In the end, the scroll is useful because it allows the ninja to summon creatures, people and items to their aid. Cost: 100 // 1,000 // 5,000 // 10,000 (price per scroll!)

Body Appearance: Daisetsu is a fairly tall and well built young man for his age, but despite this, there is very little else to distinguish him physically from the likes of other Genin seen in Konoha on a regular basis. His physique, like many of the child soldiers that work for the military superpower, is the product of countless hours of dedicated training and regimented missions; a tightly packed, almost sinewy musculature wrapped in lightly tanned skin. His smile is nice and broad, reveals two sets of straight, angel-white teeth. His chin and upper lip are hairless, the few strands spurting through during the onset of puberty quickly removed as a personal point of preference. His arms (as with the rest of his body) are devoid of scars, while his hands and fingers, are ever so slightly calloused, the markings of a lifetime filled with either a Kunai or a pen. He is, for all intents and purposes, built for the life of the Shinobi; sleek, compact and powerful.
Apparel: When seen in the forests that surround his village and virtually inhabit his entire country, Kouhi seems to blend in with the environment. He is garbed in a very short, chest-length cloak decorated with a camouflage pattern. The cloak matches the slightly baggy camouflage trousers he wears tucked into his long black tabi boots, which reach to his knees and are very lightly reinforced beneath the cloak, Daisetsu wears a black form fitting shirt with the traditional ninja mesh beneath it. The mesh extends down past his waist and is visible from the sides of his trousers. On his arms are stylised gloves that reach past his elbows, segmented at his joints to promote ease of movement. The gloves, like everything else not sporting the camouflage pattern, are jet black and lacquered to a high finish. An interesting point of note in Daisetsu's attire is his highly unusual forehead, protecter, which seems to model a head guard, the black metal extending down to his jawline and framing his face with the Konoha symbol etched squarely in the centre of the head ornament.
Blemishes & Scars: None, though he is known to dab the bridge of his nose with green or brown dye.

Personality: Despite portraying a very laissez-faire attitude to anyone who cares to look or listen, Daisetsu possesses unbeatable drive and incredible determination, to traits he believes he'll need to succeed in the world he wishes to immerse himself in. He is also quite calm and collected, never one to really shoot his mouth off if he is devoid of all the facts, but always willing to give his opinion it he feels it will lend any weight to a particular discussion. He is also a very shrewd and perceptive young man, with a few elders mentioning he is wise beyond his years.
A defining characteristic of Daisetsu's is his insatiable urge to accumulate knowledge and a variety of experiences. This leads him to want to be a very well travelled Shinobi, and he finds being in one place for too long far too disconcerting.
