PSYCHE/HISTORY;
I remember a man walking into the room. He wasn't wearing a ?? facility uniform, which was against protocol during any tests involving me. He didn't even acknowledge the two men with the notepads. I started talking, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I saw the way they looked at him, though. They seemed very confused and concerned about whatever he was saying. Then he walked up to the glass and looked at me; my eyes specifically. His eyes were cold, which was strange because I had never met him before. I saw no reason for him to feel negatively toward me, but it seemed like he did. When he turned away from me, he attacked the scientists. He did so with great precision and form, killing them in only a handful of movements. I screamed and struggled to break free, to get out and to stop the man who was casually walking toward the door.
Then red lights started flashing in the room and out in the corridor, and I could hear an alarm blaring, though the sound was muffled by the glass and the fluid. I was thankful for this, because I hated the noise. I saw people running past the door and I banged on the glass for help, but none of them stopped. Mother came running in then. She covered her mouth in shock at the sight of the dead scientists, and she cautiously stepped over their bodies and up to me. She looked very worried. I had never seen her like that. Mother began typing on on the the monitors' keyboards -- she was trying to drain the fluid and get me out, but it wasn't working. Then she opened a hatch on the side of the cylinder itself. When she pulled it, the glass opened up like a door and I spilled onto to the floor along with all the fluid.
"A man killed them, mother!" I said, in between breathes. "It was a man, I didn't --"
"I know you didn't, May," Mother said reassuringly as she helped me to my feet. "Come on, we need to get you somewhere safe."
She led me out into the hall where the alarm blared so much louder. I covered my ears to block out the noise, but to no avail. The facility's staff members were running all over the place. Some were lying on the floor, not moving. I started to head toward one when Mother tugged my arm and darted down the corridor with me at her mercy. I trusted Mother. We ran down a number of corridors, some of which I had never gone down. The chaos was the same no matter where we went though. I remember us turning a corner and stopping abruptly. Far ahead of us two men dressed in all black were stabbing a scientist to death. "Stop!" I yelled. The one that held the scientist pushed his limp body to the ground and the two of them charged toward us.
There was a sudden, loud rumbling and something shook the entire facility then. The two men lost their balance and tripped. Mother's balance seemed to falter a bit, but I was there to keep her from falling. I watched her weave handseals together and expel a gust of wind from her mouth. The two men and the dead scientist slide and flew down the hall, away from us. I had never seen Mother use Ninjutsu before that. We ran and turned down one more hall that led us to an elevator. Mother pressed the button over and over and over again, but to no avail. The elevator wasn't coming fast enough for her. There was another loud rumbling and the lights went out for a moment. I felt Mother's grip on my hand tighten. The lights flickered and came back on just as the elevator arrived. A man in black stood there when it opened. It was Father.
"Thank goodness you too are alright, he said as he pulled us into the elevator and pushed the button that closed the doors repeatedly until they closed. "I've got them. We're heading down to you." he spoke into the communicator on his wrist. It was then that I noticed the blood on Father's uniform. It wasn't his. Moments later, the elevator stopped its descent and it's doors opened to more chaos. We had arrived in a train station. I didn't know that the facility had a train station before then. Scientists and officials were limping, crawling, and even being carried into the train. The three of us ran up to a man whom father began speaking to. The man's clothes also had blood on them.
The cars on the train exploded, one by one. I had never seen so much fire in my life. We were all knocked to the floor and all I remember hearing is twisting metal and burning screams. Mother, Father and I were the only three to get up from the floor. The man that Father had spoken to had a large piece of steel sticking out of his back. Everyone else was burning or burnt or crushed or vaporized. Mother and Father led me out of a side door and down a corridor and then out of another door that led into the snow. We walked and walked and Mother told me "Don't look back, May, don't look." over and over. So I didn't until we had been walking for miles. There was a column of smoke that rose all the way into the clouds. Everything went black after that."
⇢Entry from Mother's log: Log Date: 11AC, 12:42am. Eleven days have passed since the Catastrophe. We have since relocated to Konohagakure no Sato. My husband's family was gracious enough to take us into their home. In the days following the Catastrophe, Soname has shown no signs of negative physiological or psychological changes. Admittedly, I was worried after she blacked out that when she came to something would have been wrong with her psyche. I was amazed that all of the explosions hadn't triggered her ?? into activating. When she came to she was different, though. She's become more stoic and distant and she asks questions about things that she should understand and at times she looks at ordinary objects like they're completely foreign to her.
A few days ago, however, she showed interest in my husband's family. They're shinobi, so I shouldn't be surprised. It's in her blood. In addition to this, she got a little rowdy with one of the boy's in my husband's family. He's around her age, so to speak. The only other people of her age that she's interacted with are the other subjects from ??, who I presume have perished in the Catastrophe. The boy from today is the first ordinary child that she's met, and before today I had never seen her act so...normal. My husband wasn't there to witness it, but when I told him about it he said that it was nothing to worry about.
We have decided to enroll her in Konoha's Shinobi Academy. She would have undergone a similar sort of schooling regiment back at ?? so my husband and I feel like this is essential for her development.
