As Kuishen danced away from the clearing amidst the branches he couldn't help but smile. I am damn good at my job. For a brief moment the thought that what he was doing was wrong crossed his mind but it was quickly dismissed. There was something that was nagging at him though; a phantom in the recesses of his mind, a singular thought. What would she think? The silhouette of a girl appeared, she had long ebony hair but her face was blank. Why does she seem so familiar...? Before he could attempt to recall anymore details a sudden jolt of pain dragged him out of his self-reflection. He had missed a grab for a nearby branch and was tumbling down towards the forest floor and hitting other branches on the way down. Landing with a thud, he exhaled sharply as pain flooded his chest.
“What the hell was that Bones?”
“What the hell was that Bones?”
Kuishen pushed himself off the ground and whipped around towards the source of the voice, only to see that there wasn't anybody.
“You actually got some strange and you're planning to betray her? That almost sounds like something I would do.”
The Kaguya turned around again, but nobody was there. What the hell? More silhouettes without faces appeared in his mind, but both of them had blank faces. Somehow the voices seemed familiar but he still couldn't place them. People from his past that were a part of memories that he had lost in the accident. It took a few minutes to calm down. This wasn't the first time this had happened but he had never gotten used to the memory fragments surfacing without warning. The doctors had warned him about this and said it was a good thing, that it was his brain was trying to heal itself. These incidents were happening more frequently as of late and it was beginning to interfere with his work.
“What happened? It sounded like you fell,” stated a voice to his side. Kuishen's hand twitched to his knife belt as he turned towards the source.
“Nothing. Here's the sample.” Tossing the small plastic bag Emiko had given him at his handler he relaxed and leaned his back up against the tree he had fallen out of. The man examined it then tucked it away into a pocket. He took off his ANBU mask and cracked his neck.
“Back in my day we didn't usually sleep with suspects, but I don't blame you. That is one fine piece of as-”
Before he could finish the sentence Kuishen had his hand around the man's throat. He leaned in close while squeezing hard enough to make it a struggle for the man to breath. “Give me a reason Takeda. As I recall it, you don't have the right to question my methods, it's above your pay grade.” Shoving the man away, he adjusted his glove.
Takeda coughed and staggered backwards trying to catch his breath. Once he finally did, his eyes turned towards Kuishen and they were filled with anger. “I won't hesitate to write your ass up kid. One word from me and your entire career would be ended.” Kuishen couldn't help but chuckle at that. The man blinked. “You really think this is a joke?”
A grin spread across Kuishen's face. “No I think you are a joke. Go ahead and file your little report, nobody will give half a shit.” A look of killer intent replaced the grin. “Would you like to know why?” Kuishen swung his fist at Takeda's face. The Jounin instinctively dodged and pulled a kunai out of his pouch and put it to the Chuunin's throat. The Kaguya focused his chakra towards the area where the kunai was pressed against his skin, forming a calcium reservoir underneath the skin. Pushing the calcium through his pores, it slowly started to cover the blade and pull it from Takeda's grasp. The look on his handler's face was priceless as the bone encrusted kunai disappeared beneath Kuishen's skin and started traveling down his arm. The kunai re-emerged from his palm dripping with liquidized calcium.
Stumbling backwards with a look of utter terror on his face, Takeda tripped and landed on his ass. “W-w-what are you?”
Kuishen threw the kunai between the terrified man's legs making sure it landed uncomfortably close to his groin. “A tool of Konohagakure no Sato. That's actually a new jutsu I've been working on. Did you like it? At any rate, you're not even as valuable as one of my shits in the eyes of the village. So yes go ahead and write me up, see what happens. I'm a national treasure you insufferable piece of shit.” He turned around and started walking back towards the village, he needed to rest after that little parlor trick. “Inform me if I have the green light to finish this farce before I leave for the meeting with my supplier tomorrow.” His handler only managed to mumble a curse before he disappeared into the trees; no doubt to mend his bruised ego.
