The boy didn't seem phased by Kirino's recollection, but very little seemed to be able to do that. It was still clear that he understood, though, and that he was at least partially accepting that these events occurred. She knew how difficult something like this was for him, and was quite happy to see him taking it so well, considering. What he did next was beyond anything she could have expected.
She was a bit confused at first as he approached, the distance between them quickly closing. His hands came up, soft on her face. At first, she wasn't sure what to make of this, but trusted Ashura not to do anything particularly rash, and there wasn't any indication that he would. It was when they locked eyes that she began to understand. An option, an idea that she had never thought of. Of course, if this had been proposed earlier in their journey, she would have likely objected, but by this point, it was the least she could do to help the boy.
Things began to fade for Kirino, her senses becoming numb as Ashura's tomoe spun with the transfer of information. Just like that, everything went black. Ashura was picking through her past, and her conscious had to take a back seat. It felt like only a second had passed when she came back to, their eyes separating. The boy seemed to be almost ashamed, if not in shock. Kirino nodded with his comment, but it really went in one ear and out the other. The less she thought about those events, those times, the better, whatever the cost.
"Thank you."
His next comments were disconcerting. How could he really be so sure of his father's intentions? What was it that convinced him that his father was a good person, that made him want to believe this? Kirino was overwhelmed with a negative energy as Ashura spoke, anger and confusion building. Her body subconsciously shifted away from the boy, though she continued to face him. The way he spoke of Kouketsu felt as if he was being an apologist for the atrocities she suffered, the destruction that man left in his wake. Even if he had a good reason, to some extent, did it justify anything that he did, the suffering he caused? She knew Ashura wasn't thinking of it on those terms, but the mere suggestion or possibility of such thoughts or ideas brought her to a very dark place. Not wanting to put this on the boy, she nodded, then turned away in hopes the boy would leave her be for a while.
