-A Moment Of Conduction
“A little bit 'tough', yes,” Shiro said dryly. From anyone else, the boy's comment could have been considered an insult. However, as best as Shiro could tell, the boy was a genuine innocent. Perhaps not by the standards of the rest of the world, but it was clear there was no intended subtext to his comments. A little naive, perhaps, but Shiro preferred that when compared against someone who was cunning enough to play word games with him. Somehow, those people never seemed to be smart enough to realize that they shouldn't mess around with him.
Such faith in his leader.
“I see.” Shiro's face rearranged itself into an expression of idle contemplation. “Well, I hope your Raikage is as competent as you say. In my experience, there's a lot more chaos than cooperation when the Great Nations gather into one place.” Shiro wasn't enamoured with the idea of the Five Great Nations coming together in Kusa no Kuni again. It seemed whenever they came to this little country, forests burned and fields were turned fallow. He could only hope that they, along with the Yonbi, would be out of the country in short order.
“You certainly seem to need some help,” Shiro observed as the boy fell over. “I could direct you to the beast, if you like. It would be easier if I led you. You wouldn't want to end up in a poison grove on accident.” He felt a bemused smile coming over his face, just for a moment, before it settled back into a neutral expression. Once the boy was up, he turned, beckoning him towards the west. With sure steps, he leaped off the mushroom and into the trees.
“So why were you selected to join your Raikage on such an important mission? You must be something, to participate in a Bijuu hunt.”
