This lethal creation was first birthed in the lands now known as Kaminari no Kuni, amongst the highest mountains where storms grow volatile and life is scarce. Legend has it that a shinobi, in conflict with his brother, and in the midst of a losing fight, called upon the gods to grant him the power to strike down his kin. The heavens let loose their response with an echoing clap, and the man came to wield the dragon, using it to end the life of his foe swiftly, albeit with a high price.
The man was so drained that he almost died, for the sheer will it had taken to master the dragon's rage, and wield it as his own, was unfathomable. The man did live, however, and would teach the technique to others, and so the chain began, of masters and pupils learning to control the storm. However, Kirin manifests itself only to those who prove their control over the elements. The weak who try to use it are swept aside from the fury of the storm.
The wrath of the great dragon of thunder is said to be swift, unmatched by any human generated techniques, simply because Kirin is not birthed by the chakra of man. It is conceived from natural lightning; harnessed and shaped from massive storm clouds which generate terrifying might. It retains all physical properties of natural lightning, including the speed with which it strikes. In an instant, less time even than it takes to bat an eye, the dragon strikes, and all that remains within its path is torn asunder from the force.
The last great master of Kirin was said to have been an Uchiha, an antagonist of the last war who brought it to fruition to further his power. It is unknown if it passed from his hands to those of a pupil, however rumors have spread of another master who walks the countryside, unrivaled in his ability to gather storms and wreak destruction. Many seek its power. Few survive to tell of it; even fewer even come to actually learn to use it.
