Haion Rei ( Heine Zero )[/u] B-Rank | Scythe | 15000 Ryō
Heine Zero is a unique scythe, whose snath is about three meters in length and obsidian in color. The blade of the scythe is also dark in color, the chine being a dark grey while the metal from the toe to the heel and tang gleams a black color. The blade itself measures about a meter long from heel to toe with a broad but still distinct curve. The scythe is pretty light for its size and its snath is flat in shape, like the handle of a katana, rather than round such as to allow it to move through the air more easily and to allow for a better grip. Finally, the kanji for "hope" was engraved near the middle of the snath using Kaiiro's blood mixed with his chakra. This was a ritual performed by his father, the maker and original wielder of the scythe, to bond the scythe to the boy so that it may grow with him.
Its maker folded its steel several times and reinforced it with a cursed form of chakra throughout each fold. This cursed chakra came from a summoning the creator was tied to, and he was spared from its effects simply because he was a holder of the contract. The murky, arsenic chakra feeds off of other forms of chakra, though it is capable of sustaining itself on its own as if it were regular chakra.
As a result of this enhancement, the scythe hosts strange abilities but its most promiment and only passive one is that it can cut through and "devour" chakra. The cursed chakra reserve of the scythe grows through experience and training by the wielder as if it were living. This reserve also grows when it eats chakra, however it's strange in that it "digests" the chakra it absorbs and converts it to the same cursed state. Because of this, while it can absorb mass amounts of chakra and temporarily use it, it will only retain a percentage of the chakra. The "wastes" are emitted as a black aura.
To not have their own chakra devoured by the scythe and for it to actually "cooperate" with them, the weilder must have undergone the bonding ritual. When it falls into the hands of a new owner, the scythe is stuck in accessory form. When Inhei is learned, access to it's weapon form is granted. Even after the scythe's true form his revealed, it will lack the ability to devour chakra until Hitokui Seishin is learned.
Hitokui Seishin ( Biting Soul )[/u] | D, C, B | Passive | Close-Range
This governs Heine Zero's ability to devour chakra, limiting the rate at which it absorbs it and the amount it retains after digesting the absorbed chakra. Heine Zero can only absorb chakra equal to a rank below this technique per moment of contact with the chakra. The amount it retains after digesting the absorbed chakra is equal to the actual rank of this technique. If the chakra absorbed exceeds the maximum that Heine Zero can hold at the time, then the remainders will simply evaporate from the scythe as a black aura. Phsyical contact has to be made in order for Heine Zero to eat chakra. Heine Zero treats each moment of contact as a 'bite' so to speak, as it does not continue draining after the initial drain from contact is made.
Shouka ( Digestion )[/u] | D, C , B, A, S | Active | Self
The same way Hitokui Seishin governs how much chakra Heine Zero can absorb at a certain point, Shouka governs how much of that chakra can be digested and converted into the same cursed chakra Heine Zero holds. Once learned, Heine Zero becomes capable of digesting chakra down and retaining amounts equivalent to a rank below that of this ability.
Inhei ( Concealment )[/u] | E-Rank | Active | Close-Range
This technique is used to shift Heine Zero from accessory to weapon form and vice-versa. By tapping their bonding engraving on the scythe, the user is capable of transforming it into a smaller, compact form. In this form, Heine Zero is unable to utilize any abilities it possesses and functions as a simple accessory. In Etsuko Kaiiro's case, Heine Zero takes the form of a small, black wrist rosary with the engraving's location being on the cross. To return the scythe to its original form, a small amount of the holder's chakra just needs to be focused back into the engraving on the item's sealed form.
