Years ago; a land that seemed forsaken by the hard city-shell that shielded it. Its shinobi were tough and capable, showcasing skill beyond their peers simply because of what they had to endure, the process of building some small part of the future right now. Manufactored in factory smoke that congealed into particulate iron infused with light, it left an impression that lasted longer than the steam clouds cut to ribbons in the rain. It was a landscape of steel windows and renovated horizons, old stone ziggurats burnt and welded and coded into something new. There was little that could not be found along its winding architectural insanity, buried by the endless procession of storms that blew freely drifting water into an oppressive anchor of darkened sky. The men and women who made this Hidden Village their home held it to be a place of near sacred beauty, but those who'd braved the wilds outside knew the truth. It was no different from the massive capricious child that was Ame No Kuni. It was merely an extension of that untilled abandon that sheltered it, nourished its growth, allowed it to grow into a gray smear through the borders of its neighboring nations.

Now, around every corner is brutality and darkness, despair and things too terrifying to classify.

The torture labs that were its most infamous feature are long gone; but what they contained...what could survive the destruction without perishing in the nothingness left behind, those things are now free. Strange beasts and stranger men, things that defy logic, or exemplify it to such a degree that their mere presence eradicates all other life.

These are the Wastes of Amegakure. This is what the village has become.

Amegakure no Sato.

They finally made it.

Approaching the white like that greeted them at the end of the tunnel, Masuyo's forearm raised up above his eyes to shield them. Continuing forward, the light soon faded and the destruction thrust itself into plain view, forcing Masuyo as well as those who followed him to accept that his - their village had been brought down to it's knees. Lowering his arm back down to his waist, his eyes looked around, darting from one area of the village to another. Overwhelmed with emotions as he took in the lay of the land and remembered alley's and streets where he played with friends and family, a single tear rolled down his face. Chuckling as memories came pouring in one after another, his tears only intensified.

"We're here, we're finally home Sis. I know this isn't it, but I can't stop the tears from coming out. I will find you, I promise. Just give us more time - please. "

Closing his eyes, catching his breath, and re-obtaining his composure, the tears stopped after he wiped them away with his thumb. As if on cue, rain plummeted from the sky above, drenching everything that existed within its influence. Buildings and homes were reduced to piles of rubble and debris, however, Masuyo still managed to recognize the village, and as a result, knew exactly where the main tower was located.

Considering the tower to be the most ideal place for AU-2 to hideout, Masuyo decided that they'd head in that direction. Masuyo hadn't doubted the others, but, he himself readied to place his life on the line to free his home of AU-2 grasp. He had no other choice. . .

Not if he wanted to provide a better life for his recently conceived daughter.

[Yuu]

As the group continued to move in the right direction I felt a light tap on my head, followed by having my name called by the older Tenzo who had been watching me very carefully for the past few days. "Yeah, had me feeling quite uncomfortable." I attempted to lighten the mood followed by a soft chuckle. "If that is the case... don't worry, I'm more than ready to step up and take over." I spoke with confidence in my voice, I knew that it would end up with Masuyo and I leading the village once we secure Amegakure ourselves.

"Yeah don't worry about it, I won't do anything dumb or stray off in the wrong direction. But promise me you won't go sacrificing yourself for me. I don't need any other Tenzo dying for an insignificant cause." I said as we entered into Amegakure... or what looked like the remains of a once prosperous village. The village was destroyed, memories flooded my mind as I imagined the places as they were before a few years ago. Shaking the thought I looked back at Masuyo confirming where we were going with a simple head nod.

"Masuyo lead the way. I don't know the route towards the Tower myself." I admitted, my eyes darting from one place to another analyzing the wasteland which was now in place of Amegakure.

The veteran smiled briefly at the young man. Both his confidence and his concern for Kiyoshi's life were strong indicators for a compassionate though likely foolish leader. Not perfect but good enough for the elder who turned and stepped out without saying anything in reply to Yuu.

iyoshi stepped out into the light and with a weary eye he took in the stale scene all about him. He had grown up in this village and earned considerable fame in the name of Amegakure. He had had friends and family, hell even enemies and rivals would be a welcome site in this mortifying landscape. But there were none. Only rubble and ghosts of waking memories.

Kiyoshi's features remained passive as he struggled internally to control his anger and pain. Turning his head he glanced to a far corner of the village where his house used to be but it was too far off to be seen. He turned back again now looking towards the tower. He too knew the logical destination of the party and with hate burning bright in him he began his march stepping past Masuyo as he went.

Marching on the great Tower of Amegakure. Kiyoshi never conceived of it but he was now marching on his own home. His body radiated heat, having poorly controlled his anger internally. Steam rose from his coat thin at first but in a few seconds the rain that had once drenched him turned into a thin mist as it came within a few meters oh him.

The rubble, the gray, the lifelessness of Ame. They had asked for it, and Akio delivered. He sincerely hoped they at least trusted him with delivering them to their destination with the minimal of harm. As he thought of what should be the debt of these ninja, his eyes looked down the the hole in his armor, and a small sigh escaped him.

Looking ahead though, the appearance of Ame had no true effect on Akio. This was Amegakure to him. The destruction was normal, and he had in fact passed by this destination at least three times during his short stay in the village. These ninja however, had completely different reactions. Their nostalgic faces pointed to something different and besides Akio's small guilt over Masuyo's lost kin, another pang of guilt was felt as he further realized that they intended to better what had been theres.

He saw the men go through there movements, Masuyo on his knees and the other showing rising aggression. Akio's calm demeanor seemed eerily placed among such ripe emotions. He was once again glad that his new acquaintances could not see his face.

They must have no realized how long he had spent in the village, or of his familiarity with it as they asked one of their own to lead the way to the Tower. Akio himself knew where is was, and looked to the building's unimpressive nook in the landscape. Only standing out because of the destruction near it, but still squat in nature to other Hidden Village towers.

The torrential rain started again as Masuyo stood, and Akio then noticed it's former absence as it returned in full fervor and drained only partially into the pipeline they had exited from. Akio would continue onwards as the group did, swiveling his armored helmet in every direction, awaiting the attack he was sure to happen. He knew AU-2 had surveillance on them since the pipeline, which meant intervention was only a matter of time.

^{ENEMY #1 - S Rank}

He murmurs to himself, sometimes laughing, sometimes posing questions to the sky, sitting on a lump of coal-colored rock in the center of a pile of fallen metal support beams. His body has collapsed into decay, but his mind seems to still function at a high enough level to decipher his ramblings once you are close enough to clearly hear him. Though you can easily see the shuffling of larger creatures framing the entirety of the land, they seem to be avoiding him, and within 30 meters of detritus strewn before the ruined clearing where he rests, nothing else moves.

Even the air around him is foul, and something dangerous can be felt merely from being near him, but he makes no threatening motions in your direction. Without eyes, he is somehow looking frantically about the area, picking up rocks or bits of glass and crushing them between his fingers as his face contorts into smiling or grimacing or stretches wide with psychotic amusement.

He is no more than 50 meters from where your group walks, and if you approach him, he will make no threatening gestures towards you, but he is the only "living" thing you've encountered thus far that does not hungrily and patiently shy away from your presence, as if sizing you up to be devoured later.

There is a small identification tag clipped to his disgustingly ill-fitting suit, and if you come close enough to read it, you will see that it says "Dr. Sonzairyuu Kaida, Genetics", along with a picture of a far healthier smiling man.

The man's stench is putrefying to withstand, you will have difficulty being within 10 meters of his body and being able to think clearly. It is the scent of rot and death. He smokes a cigarette, puffing lightly and exhaling tiny rings that dissipate into the surrounding black fog.

It hadn't taken an advanced sense of sight to have seen the only other living being (aside from Akio & AU-2) that existed within the ruins of Amegakure. Fortunately the tower was location in the general direction where the seemingly deranged, yet, very-much-alive man wandered aimlessly. Masuyo raised a single brow whilst -slightly- tilting his head to the side as they group drew closer and closer. Upon approaching the man -albeit slowly- a pungent and unpalatable smell eased it way into Masuyo's nose and caused him to recoil in disgust as it induced a mild case of nausea. Holding back his need to vomit, Masuyo provided his lungs with fairly large pulls of air specifically through his mouth.

While he attempted gained his bearings, the entire situation only worsened as they drew close enough to visually examine that 'man'. His face, even the suit that ran across his body easily registered as one of the most disgusting things the Sennin had ever laid eyes upon. Abruptly, Masuyo's left forearm lifted up against his mouth as he coughed thereafter. Momentarily -after breaching the 10 meter threshold- he stopped and retreated, positioning himself about 12 meters away from the man.

"Who. . .Who are you. Are you even alive? Somehow? "

Attempting to find out if the man had truly been alive and able to effectively process and respond to Masuyo's inquiry, he merely waited with his arm still covering the lower half of his face (after pulling it away quickly to speak). For a moment, he looked to everyone else to gauge their reaction to a smoking corpse before returning his attention & focus.

[Yuu]

As we continued to move towards the tower with Masuyo at the helm we bumped into something quite odd. The closer we got, the more my eyes could examine some of his feature, as well as the stench that circulated around the area around him became increasingly more disturbing. The man himself had worms coming out of his empty eye-sockets as well as having the skin corroded away around his teeth.

The look on everyone's face told me that they also thought this creature was horrid. Once the distance between him and us was closed to a unsafe twelve meters, I noticed a name tag clipped to his chest. He was once a doctor, or so it said on his tag. Then memories of the rumors that I heard about the Amegakure Torture Labs hit me instantly, he must have been an offspring to a terrible experiment.

"Shame... he's a survivor from one of Amegakure's now destroyed Tortube Labs. They must have gotten out when the village was destroyed, now ruling over this wasteland." I spoke before giving Masuyo a look close to something like "what are we going to do with him". The aura around the man was sickening, all the animals surrounding a thirty meter radius around him were on the floor motionless, most likely dead from the smell that radiated off of his deceased body. I tugged on my high-collared shirt and brought it up to my nose to lessen the smell, when you're so close it's terrible.

[The Dude]

Kiyoshi's core continued to escalate higher still as the moved across the ruins. As it did he made a habit of keeping a variable short distance between him and the rest of the group roughly ten meters away now at all times. Soon a peculiar odor can be smelt in the air that grows fouler and worse as they draw close to a curious figure sitting on a black rock. His fingers work at picking up and breaking apart various rubble before him while his head swivels about frantically. His mumbling is without end but quiet and fast as he continues whatever activity he seemed preoccupied with. Despite the stench the party forges closer and closer still until Kiyoshi notices a cigarette in the creatures hand and finds a reason to pause.

Stopping twenty meters away from the creature Kiyoshi plants his claymore into the soil beside him before removing his coat and hanging it on the handle of the massive sword. He reaches briefly into the coat pocket as the other two shinobi approach the creature, only to retrieve a pack of cigarettes quickly blowing a jetstream of hot air form his internal heat to the tip. Smoke trails from the end as the red glow is coaxed into a humble existance.

Lifting the cigarette to his lips Kiyoshi inhales deeply filling his lungs with the fine tobacco and staving off as much of the creature's stench as possible. Looking after Yuu, he notices Masuyo is close at hand and capable to watch the lad for a moment as he tips his head and closes his eye in a silent moment of concentration. It can't hurt to at least be a little cautious with such a grotesque existance. The world of chakra flares into vision before Kiyoshi's closed eyes and he examines the 'man' before them.

Tier Two - Fahrenheit: It is said that the Airontoku's true goal is to become "hotter than the sun." While impossible, their unyielding devotion to reaching such an unreachable is the perfect fuel to drive them harder and faster than most. From this, they have learned to increase their temperatures beyond what is considered "standard," effectively doubling their Utsuru rank's effectiveness (i.e a b-rank Utsuru would be x4 the body temp).

He smelled it before he saw it, easily, and his eyes guided him as much as his nose. Scanning up to see the most morbid of the scarce population anyones eyes could see. From the first 50 meters that their other occupant first appeared, Akio continued with the group forward, taking his bow off of his back and into his well trained hands.

The bow trained squarely on their opponents body who was well within the accurate range of any arrow Akio decided to use, and one currently was nocked onto the string. Their approach was slow, each step tested as the Samurai fully expected the ground to open up and swallow their party. Amegakure seemed very fitting for surprises like that.

The group decided to continue forward while Akio himself stayed by the 30 meter mark where his perceptive eyes noticed that most life ended by their offender. The Samurai's coordination, and the ninjas were two different things, they had been trained to fight with different purposes, different perspectives, and although Akio did not know why they continued onwards, he himself felt compelled to stay outside of what he suspected was the window of his opponents attack. Given the quagmire that made their group, Akio was sure they may question his tactic, but not begin to distrust him (he hoped). They had simply been trained differently.

Even at thirty meters the pungent odor of the creature was overwhelming. The Samurai's entire head was covered in his protective armor, making most smells difficult to accurately smell but Akio was very sure the stench radiated from this "man".

Akio took some time to observe his new allies. One hung up his coat, and smoked just as the experiment had. The Sage went the closest, superiority reigning in that decision, and the last of them in the middle, mentioning torture labs and failed experiments. Akio wasn't even surprised at the notion.

He already had a shot lined up. From his calculation, Kiyoshi was placed on his right, Yuu in front of him, and Masuyo to his left (correct me if I'm wrong, I feel that was the order). He had an ample amount of space between Yuu and Masuyo to fire an arrow between their large gap and strike their enemy, but for now, the nocked arrow sat patiently, death and precision resting on it's tip.

Kiyoshi's sensor technique is able to discern only the faintest amount of chakra, emanating specifically from the brain of the man before you. He stops smoking his cigarette, dropping it to the floor as he hears the Sage's question, and cups his ear in an overly dramatic representation of listening as the young Tenzo wonders exactly where the doctor might have come from. He straightens his tie, and contorts his face in a way that could have been a smile, if the skin around his jaw wasn't eroded away, speaking very quickly in a fluctuating educated pitch that seems as fragile as his own psyche.


"A L I V E ? I suppose...that's a fairly simple question to answer though the tendency of the dead to ignore such inquiries is perhaps an answer in and of itself, yes? No? I don't think I'm quite sure, Masuyo Kekkai, genetic classification 445B-19S-34, Akadou, Parents deceased, sisters one, brothers one believed deceased, one living, offspring....a very interesting....little red haired girl. She makes me hungry. Are you hungry? Probably not, it's the smell...I know, forgive me.

"Manners! AhYesThat'sWhatThey'reCalled.

"My name is Dr. Sonzairyuu Kaida. And I am not an experiment of the...you call them torture labs, Yuu Tenzou, genetic classification 445D-1X-992-KG03, Shikigami...but isn't torture a bit drastic of a term? No, no, no, no, no, yes. The Labs are a place of incredible progress my dear sweet delicious youngling, places of wonder where imagination is given the same free reign as the natural evolutionary cycle itself.

The Labs belong to me. Or at least they did, when they were still there. I am a CREATOR. I created one of your cousins after all. I even created...him."

And he points to a fallen statue in the distance.

Though odd, he makes no threatening motions towards you, and if you will not continue speaking with him, he will continue speaking regardless, his voice echoing from the base of his chest and just as dead as everything around you.

No more than a few moments after the seemingly dead man spoke in extremely sporadic tones and paces, Masuyo grew unusually interested. Both eyes widened as he nonchalantly identified not only Masuyo, but his closest relatives in addition to the status' of their well being. His sister and -apparently- Kodai, were both very much alive, considering that Masuyo himself confirmed his brother's - Yuu Aimery Kekkai- death. Having, admittedly, located his sister circumstantially, she had indeed been alive albeit under AU-2's control. The more he continued to dwell upon the subject, the more he realized that all of the incidents and phenomenon that surrounded the Kekkai and Tenzo family couldn't have all been coincidence.

The deeper he dug into the conspiracies that surrounded their family, the meaning and purpose behind it all only managed to incessantly eluded him. At that particular moment, the only man that he needed to kill to reset the peace within Amegakure -even if momentarily- had been none other than AU-2.

"The creator of him? AND the creator of the torture labs? You even know of my daughter which is impossible. You know what, save what breath you have left, you won't need it for much longer. . ."

His anger gradually returned as the very man who turned a great many innocent lives into a living hell by failing to contain and control his experiments and abominations. With each fleeting second that Masuyo remained inside of his home while knowing and understanding its conditions as well as its psuedo-leader, he grew impatient - more than ever. Truth be told, he just wanted his entire family to be left alone.

"Because after the pain that you and your experiments caused my family, I've collected more than enough willpower to. . .

Slaughter you all!"

Dispersing one of his left-behind clones, the Senjutsu chakra that it stored instantly transferred itself back into Masuyo's own network, stronger and more powerful than before. The transformation tripled the capacity and potency of his chakra, so much so that fire-like licks of nature chakra swirled around him as it seeped out of his body itself, aimlessly whipping at the openness of air. With only 12 meters of space separating him from Dr. Kaida, revenge never seemed so close.

The "thing" began to move, straightening it's tie and beginning to smile. "What?..." I didn't understand, how did this man know all of this about Masuyo and his family. This just didn't make sense, did he know about the rest of us too? Well, that question was answered sooner than later when he mentioned my abilities. "Creator? Don't mak-" I was cut off by an angered Masuyo, his anger seeping through his pores as you could begin to see his chakra boiling around him as if it's responding to his emotions.

He was beyond different, the killing intent that radiated from his body was immense, making anyone that couldn't handle it struggle to even stand in the same vicinity as this man. This was a fight that we weren't going to partake in unless we truly needed too. Masuyo was different, he was out to kill right now and if we got in the way he'd easily attack us regardless if it's an accident or not. "Go cousin. This one is your battle, if you need help then signal, alright." I looked back at the two others, Kiyoshi and the Samurai.

They hopefully knew this wasn't our fight. This man standing in front of us, the so called doctor, was going to die here and now. We were going to kill him, and leave him splattered on the ground begging to be spared. I turned my back walking by Masuyo towards the two who were straying behind us, concurrently my arms dropped to my sides as I produced paper from my arms which dropped gracefully to the floor.

Before turning around I completed a single set of hand seals which would make the paper on the ground nearly invisible to the human eye; their color now blended in with the rugged city like environment that surrounded the entire group. Turning back around, I awaited to see who would make the first move, the Doc, or Masuyo...

This ability, not a Genjutsu due to the fact that the user actually changes his or her paper's shapes and colors, allows the user to facilitate the appearance of just about anything, leaving the ability to cleverly trick and attack the opponent.

Though his coat hung from the cross hilt of the claymore, Kiyoshi rested his his left hand on the handle of his claymore relaxed for the moment but prepared to wrench the blade free and implement it's various uses. To his left, the samurai had begun lining up a shot on the man. "Akio," Kiyoshi called softly opposed to his standard grumble, "This man's chakra is strange. All of his chakra system has no flow except for the Kaimon in his brain. Quick summary? If it comes down to it," A small gust of air caused Kiyoshi to pause as Masuyo charged up. Apparently things hadn't gone all that well in the conversation. "Shoot the head." Kiyoshi finished shrugging at the samurai and smiling.

His inner core temperature still climbing and escalating higher and higher Kiyoshi wrenched his claymore free of the ground careful not to touch and burn his coat as it fell to the ground. He stepped right into a more flanking position and further away from his team so they wouldn't suffer the scolding heats that now radiated from his body. Rocks On the ground near Kiyoshi now began to sizzle and steam as rain struck the rocks anywhere within eight meters of the inferno shinobi. He gripped the handle of his claymore tight with right hand balancing it on his shoulder prepared for implementation. His left balled into a fist as heat seemed to concentrate and radiate from it though no one would feel it at this range.

For now as tensions grew audibly between Masuyo and this man, Kiyoshi retrained his focus on watching for Yuu who had turned his back on the man. Kiyoshi shook his head somewhat disappointed in the Tenzo who had gone close enough to be in striking distance and then turned his back on the threat. The time was coming for battle, it was felt in the atmosphere as rain pummeled the earth creating a brilliant silhouette of rain drops on everything.

But for now Kiyoshi waited.
