Rat Race [P/M]

It was a beautiful day out in Konohagakure, the air was fresh and crisp, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. In the center of the village had rested the Hokage's Residence, and a young shinobi had exited out of it's great big doors, on the verge to beginning his very first mission. As he had stepped out, in his all black kimono, he had worn a pair of black fitted shinobi pants that had stopped just above his shins, and he had a pair of black shinobi sandles. Along his kimono threading, he had a dark part triangle design which covered the edges of the torso area of the kimono and upon the wrist area. His long, ebony hair, which had flowed like a cascade was carried in the gentle breeze of the wind. Each foot step he had taken outside of the Hokage's Resident was a step toward his new life as a shinobi. He had only given a few thoughts to how this mission would go for him, but, he didn't really want to think that much about it, all he wanted to really do was complete the mission. He journeyed through the village, with a grin upon his face that people could look and see, and instantly tell that this young shinobi was in a good mood, and he didn't wish for anything to get in the way of his good mood. He had then came across the village gates, where the village guards had stood, protecting them. He wasn't so sure about how he would do this. But, he just figured it was better to ask and just find out about it.

"Uhh..excuse me, sirs...this is my first time doing this, and, I'm not particularly sure how it works.. So, could you please help me out?"

The shinobi had asked the guards, they had slowly turned to face him, and the shinobi had stood tall and firm, though, he didn't have any hesitation about him, he was calm and cool. The Chuunin Gate Guards could probably tell them about him just by glancing over at him. They both had smiled gently, and then addressed what was the matter with him, or rather, at least one of them did.

"Yo, yo, little man, what's the dealio? From the looks of it, though, you seem like a rookie. Buuut, I bet I know what your question is already. Haha, but, then again, I could be wrong about that. So, tell me, what's up, bro?"

Little man..? What the Chuunin had said to him, he had taken it as an insult, because he was stating that he didn't see him as a man, basically. Though, maybe he was just over thinking it, but, he didn't like people disrespecting him. The only people who were worth getting disrespected was fags

[/i]. And, this particular shinobi definitely wasn't one for sure. Though, he had thrown that little tedious comment aside, and went on to address the matter at hand.

"Well, you are right about me being a rookie. See, I am suppose to be taking my first mission, to do the annual Rat Race..and, I don't know what I am suppose to do here at the gates.. Do I just leave out? And, how do I return here? Do I need a stamp of approval or something?"

The shinobi was very curious about this matter at hand, and he wasn't really sure about what he should do. For one thing, he didn't want to look like an idiot, but, it was probably way too late for that. He wondered how the men would take his questions, arching his eyebrow as he waited patiently for their response as soon as he finished talking. He had wanted a quick response, that was serious and about the busy so he could quickly move along before he was late. But, it had seemed like he wasn't going to be able to get that at all - the Chuunin Gate Guards had did nothing but laugh at him, boisterously, so loudly that the people around the area could hear them. He had taken it was a way to make fun of him, and he wasn't enjoying it at all. His smile had quickly turned upside down.[/font][/size][/justify][/blockquote][/blockquote]

On the inside, the shinobi had felt as if they only looked down upon him because he was of lower rank, and a rookie, on top of that. Though, he had known that others like them you was of high rank wasn't like them, and they wouldn't treat him like they was. But, then again, he was probably over thinking it, and, wouldn't come to that conclusion until after the fact. As they continued to chuckle up, the started to grab the attention of the civilans around, making them wonder what in the world they was laughing at. They didn't laugh all that long, in reality, only for a few seconds. But, that's all it had took to get under the shinobi's skin and irritate him. Once they stared to calm down, and extinguished the laughter, the other shinobi had began to talk to the youngster.

"Hahah, oh my god, kid. I'm so sorry about laughing. It's just that, I asked those very same questions when I was younger, and, it just made me feel so nostalgic. If you know what I mean."

"Yeah, I use to be the same way at one point. We didn't mean to upset you. But, not everyone just comes right out and ask that kind of stuff. So, it kind of makes you unique in a way. But, please, don't fret, we have the answers to your questions."[/color]

And, the shinobi was wrong with the thoughts he had assumed they had thought, and it really had made him felt salty. He was always so quick to assume something, before even waiting to get the answer to something. It wasn't always a bad thing, but, doing it too much could never be a good thing. That's what an elder person would tell a youngster. With their many years of experience, they have learned that stuff isn't what it always seems. The shinobi was taught many lessons by his grandfather, but, everytime he finds himself in a situation when he needs to apply them.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify][/size][/font]

It's like he throws everything he learned out of the window and picked up something completely different. Not, that different, though. It was something that was completely him. After the two finished talking, the shinobi had sighed, releasing what ever negative feeling he was feeling at the time, fixing himself up. He was happy to know that those two Chuunin Gate Guards were just like him, or rather, asked the very same questions he did when he was a kid.

"Oh, well, that's pretty cool that you both had experienced it before.. I thought I was the only one who would ever ask something like this that should be common knowledge to me, I guess. But, yeah, so, how do I do this gate thing?"

He was relaxed now, his happiness had returned to him, and he was ready to continue onward with his mission at hand. After acquiring the information that he had needed about the gates. To him, the two guards had looked like powerful shinobi, who could probably easily kill the shinobi, but, he also had liked the idea of what kind of thrill that would be. But, his mind was fading to malicious things, and he had to stop himself, he had to suppress the darkness in him, and now allow the vicious side of him to escape out. But, the thought of fighting someone stronger than himself, and possibly dying was an intriguing thought that had continued to linger throughout his mind.[/font][/size][/justify][/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Well, it's pretty simple, actually. When leaving, just state that you are, and what you are leaving for. That way, we know why you left and that you are returning. This is a common protocol with shinobi who go on missions."

The Chuunin Gate Guard had said to the shinobi. He nodded in response to what he had said, and now, it was time for him to go forth with his mission that he had taking up, waving off the guards, telling them that he would see them when he returns after winning the race outside of the Bird Country. It had taken him a while to get through the Hi no Kuni forests that laid on the country side. He was given a small map to take with him, so that he could know where he was going once he had made it out of the village. And, after a few hours of traveling, he had finally made it to the Bird Country boarder, almost where he had needed to be.

Once the shinobi had made it there, everything was just getting underway, about to start up. So, he had made it just in time, much to his delight. He had talked to a few of the other people that was going to be racing today, to see how they felt and have they had ever ran in this race before, telling them all he was a rookie shinobi, and he had only heard stories about this race. He was excited to be apart of it, and, he would be even more excited if he could actually win the race, which he would strive to do. Though, he was put up against some fierce competition that he had to deal with. The shinobi had gotten himself ready, and his race number, so that the commentators would be able to address them by their numbers, rather than their names.

Once it started, all six of the racers that participated in it was off. They had to run an entire lap around Hi no Kuni, which wasn't some kind of joke. The race had only taken a few hours to be completed, though, with the shinobi ending up in first place like he had hoped, defeating the Bird Country runners. After his victory, he had sat off to return to Hi no Kuni.
