The crack of dawn and she woke up with a start. She had a dream and she remembered it. She remembered all of it and she was confused. The girl in that dream was undoubtfully her but who was the man? His visage was so blurry that she couldn't possibly make out any part of him. She never had this kind of dream when she was in that little town. The only dreams that had any connection with her past were snowy landscape. But nothing beyond that. It could be a potential lead to her finding out more about her past but it could also not be since it didn't tell of anything concrete. But at least she was making an advancement in her dreams. Hopefully she could have a new dream to jolt her memory every night she fell asleep during her journey. 

It was while she was still pondering over her latest dream when she looked around her and realized she was still in the forest of Hi no Kuni. She wasn't very pleased that she spent a night here simply because of her insecurity issue. But she knew she had passed out so that it wasn't of her choosing. She got up from the ground brushing off the mud on her dress and went to the pond that she had seen the day before. She couched down near the banks of the pond and put her dress lightly on in the water. The water was very cold as would be any public water source in the early mornings. But it was clear and soothing to the touch. she hurried to clean her skirt off and then thought it was actually better if she would do more than just wash her skirt in this water. Because the pond water was clean, she automatically thought of a relaxing idea. 

It was still the early morning. Not many people came out by the forest at this early time. She looked left and right; was convinced that nobody was hiding behind a tree and then went ahead to undress. Her suit was beginning to be a little tattered from the day's wear. She always needed to keep her and her belongings including her apparel clean. She took off tbd blazer, her buttoned white shirt, her bra, her socks and shoes. The early morning breeze in this forest was great against her bare skin. It was refreshing. She took a couple of steps to the water testing it by dipping her big toe in the water. The water was chilling but she knew that if she could get used to it which only took a few moments the bitter cold wouldn't be that bad.

She started to walk deeper into the water until the chilling liquid was almost up to her shoulders. At first she shivered under the chill. Her arms waded the waters a little and her legs moved about attempting to het her body temperature to adjust to the sudden cold it faced. She normally wouldn't take a bath in a pond especially at a country she'd never been to before. The water could be contaminated. But the pond water looked so calm and nice when she saw it yesterday. She also knew that being out as a wanderer she didn't always have a chance to find a bathhouse nor the money to spend. Bathhouses were luxuries. Here in the pond it was free and she could get close to mother nature. 

She enjoyed a quick bath of about ten minutes in the cold water. She got out of the waters and redressed. Her skin had a chilling touch because of the water. She put on her uniform and tied her cape, her katana in her hand. She felt that the forest was the best place for her in Hi no Kuni. She may do some sightseeing later on but this place wasn't as open as the other places she passed while coming to the forest. She knew that she would never get lost because she had good memory to remember where she had come from. This place was good for training. She could even train here some time before leaving. There would be little interruption.

[Enter Shinobu]

Footfalls shattered whatever would possibly remain of the nightly silence that daily covered the forests of Hi no Kuni. Shinobu, a Hyuuga of the side branch, had been ordered out on patrol, come hell or high water. In this case, it had been whether the shinobi was tired, sleepy, exhausted, or not. Half-shut lids surveyed the ground before the teen, the ability to truly care about the assignment impossible for them in their current condition.

The figure arched, a wide yawn filtering out from behind the orange mask that seemed to never leave the Hyuuga's face. Even the action didn't rouse the teen from their partially sleeping state. No, it would seem that the being patrolling the forest was lost in this void between waking and dreaming. So it was that the realization of the presence of another came late, only allowing Shinobu to fully awaken and come to attention before making a grave error.

That error being spotted before the potential enemy. Being a shinobi, and likely due to the other's circumstances, Shinobu snapped to attention at the sound of splashing. Quickly hiding their form behind a tree, the second nature of the teen kicked in, chakra surging to their eyes. The bloodline, the Byakugan, was a marvelous gift, and supposedly one of the strongest abilities a shinobi could possess. It was no surprise, really, for Shinobu was able to obtain a nearly perfect three-hundred and sixty degree field of vision.

Currently, within that vision, was a fairly tall girl. In fact, Shinobu was fairly sure that this girl nearly rivaled the Hyuuga in height, probably falling short just a few inches. That, however, wasn't the important part of this discovery. Pure eyes scanned the perimeter for other intelligent life, quickly finding none, and wondering why the girl was alone. Next, the girls belongings, unable to resist x-ray vision, would be examined.

It really wasn't a surprise to find the shinobi headband cradled amongst her belongings, though a brow would rise at the symbol upon it. Being a Genin, and having never left the country, Shinobu could not claim the knowledge of the many villages that had existed. However, the five great nations' symbols were all common knowledge for just about any living person.

Taking advantage of the girls' distraction, Shinobu decided to confront her... though after she was properly attired. Taking to the trees, the Hyuuga moved stealthily, and then took positioning in a sitting position. Everything else in the forest stood stood, and the Hyuuga would not let their guard down, Byakugan scanning as far as it could for any sign of companions to the girl. However, by the time she had managed to work into her clothing, none had come...

"Hey there, girly. Some nerve ya got there, traversin' into someone else's country," Shinobu said with a very strangely flat voice. Not only did it sound neither masculine, nor feminine, but the voice was gargled, somewhat like hearing someone speak through a walkie-talkie.

daybreak

Perhaps she spoke too soon about interruption. She senses a presence before seeing it. It was her natural instinct to be on guard. But since the presence made no move until she was properly attired, she gave it the luxury of seeing her rise above the waters. She wasn't very happy to be interrupted on an early morning like this. She wanted a little peace and quiet; two things that just werent possible in a land not her own. She quickly dressed and stood there waiting for the presence to make him or herself known to her. That didn't take long at all. It seemed to have been waiting for her to put on her clothes.

She didn't notice the presence moving closer. She was cautious at every step but stealth was never her strong field. At her current level she could be killed in an instant if just by stealth. She would work on that. The being didn't make a formal entry but only let her hear it's voice. The use of it was understandable since the voice that spoke was neither masculine nor feminine. She raised an eyebrow while listening, her curiosity peaked. Another new person that liked the forest at this time. But it was more interesting. She liked people that were interesting. 


"Hey there, girly. Some nerve ya got there, traversin' into someone else's country,"

That kind of talk definitely belonged to a shinobi. After the meeting with that little boy last night she didn't let her guard down against anyone. He was no match with her skill but he matched in dedication and determination. But she was crude in front of strangers. Her hand started to twitch while she tried to control her inner sanctum. There was no need to go all out insane to scare other people away. She just needed to be careful was all. She was thinking of an innocent answer; not displaying her inner true nature.

She turned to look at the waters when she responded so as to hide her expression of pure malice. She needed some time to put on her mask of goodness and nice; the innocent looking her. But she was often too innocent in appearance that it had the ability to scare people too. The more people she met the more she could make that perfect. Until then she was going to have to deal with it. It wasn't very pleasurable knowing she had flaws in her acting.

"I'm here to sightsee." was her most truthful response. 'Course she hid the other part of that truth; the part about trying to find her lost memories. The presence didn't need to know that yet. If it proves to be a friend she might tell of the whole truth but if it proved to be an enemy it wouldn't need to know. She looked at the glistening waters while replying. She was neither intimidated nor concerned. Whoever it was will show it's face to her eventually.

Shinobu's call had proved to be fairly informative, in a way. The fact that the girl's response was not immediate was an indication that she might have known she shouldn't be within the forests. Not that Shinobu had really been under the impression of that, but it was a possibility that had crossed the shinobi's mind. Another thing was that Shinobu observed even the tiniest of vibrations, picking up on the girl's shaking hand. Clearly there was a loose wire there, for the motion indicated anger, though the female's response, when it came, held no true malice in it.

"I'm here to sightsee." It was a snide remark, in a way. At least, that's how Shinobu felt, even though there was the possibility that the Konoha-nin wouldn't have known the stranger to be a shinobi as well. But, with the knowledge that the teen had, coupled with that potential inner anger, this girl was just being a smart-ass. But choosing to keep a level head, Shinobu decided to approach this situation in a different manner.

"Not often that a shinobi goes sight-seein' near another hidden village without first identifyin' themselves, ne?" The Hyuuga had dropped from the tree whilst speaking, landing heavily upon the ground, then standing up straight. The strange dress... the masked face... and arms criss-crossing before their figure, hands seemingly bound behind their form... Shinobu was an oddity, and fit the description of a mental patient.

"Normally I wouldn't care about a foreign-nin wandering around, but... These are dark times, ya know? Gotta be extra careful..." the Hyuuga ranted, their words not quite directed at the girl, but to their own person. Shinobu had decided to come out of hiding, more as a token of good will. It was still way too damn early, and avoiding a fight would have been more beneficial. Picking fights wasn't in the Hyuuga's best interests...

She hadn't meant to be rude at all with her answer. She knew that she wasn't a social butterfly for a reason. This presence was one of the first people she had had a chance to meet since stepping on Hi no Kuni soil. She wasn't going to be all friendly and close with everyone. It was like she was being taught how to socialize with people. But she didn't mind so much as long as they were trying to slit her throat. This male/female didn't really seem like that type at all. Funny that this person hadn't shown his/her face to her yet. She disliked talking to people just by listening to their voice and it irked her more that she couldn't make out whether the person was actually a male or female just by the sound.

"Not often that a shinobi goes sight-seein' near another hidden village without first identifyin' themselves, ne?" A hidden village--what hidden village? What the hell is a hidden village? She was so confused by his statement that she didn't even notice that it was a question. Her guardian never told her that there was a hidden village in Hi no Kuni. He never told her much about the great shinobi nations. It was the boatman that had told her about the country and then the other four. So she turned around still not seeing the presence still and asked about it. "What's a hidden village?" The he/she must think her a fool. But that didn't matter. She was like a kid anyway memory-wise. She didn't know anything about the world that she lived in before she somehow landed in that small town with her guardian.

She shifted uneasily realizing that there was a potential for dangerous outcomes from this normal conversation. And that was when her insane self started to slowly creep to the surface. It wasn't really because she felt danger coming at her but she was in a land unknown to her and in a forest with some he/she person talking to her. If this person dug any deeper into her she would have no choice but to raise her blade to him or her. She wasn't about to let anyone know of the little past she remembers in case it was going to be used against her. Her insane side was not calm enough at all for her to think rationally.

"What's a hidden village?" The question was pretty, to be completely honest. But the fact that the answer was known world-wide, and even accessible to non-shinobi made it a "stupid" question. However, the sincerity with which the girl spoke startled Shinobu. So much, in fact, that the Hyuuga took a step back, staring at the girl in disbelief, not that she could see it with the mask covering the being's face.

"You're... kidding, right?" Shinobu asked, now finally unveiling the surprise that lingered amidst their whirlpool of thoughts. Something was definitely wrong with this girl, especially considering the fact she was a shinobi herself, if she didn't know that. Then the thought crossed Shinobu's mind that maybe she had simply found the headband, not that it was much of an excuse, but it would have made slightly more sense.

"You really don't know what a hidden village is, and you're carrying around that headband?" Again, with the questions, and not even really allowing her to answer the previous. It was just so remarkable that someone wouldn't know what the great shinobi nations were, no matter if they were peasant or royalty. It just didn't make much sense.

Shinobu crouched low to the ground, not really showing hostility, but rather, preparing to sit and... well, interrogate wouldn't be the proper word, but question this girl. So far she hadn't made any advancement towards the Hyuuga, so it didn't seem like she'd strike out at any particular moment... Not that Shinobu would be too surprised if it happened, considering the unique visage of the teenager, and the strange circumstances afoot.

Questions fired one after another from this she/he. The look of absolute surprise was really something that she was expecting. She didn't know what a hidden village was. It was an honest admission even though she probably knew that everyone who was a person knew what it was. "You really don't know what a hidden village is, and you're carrying around that headband?" he would ask. She almost forgot about that headband with the weird symbol. She nodded her head, now pulling her headband out of her cloak. Oh wait--how did this he/she know of the headband if it was inside her cloak? It was her turn to take a few steps back careful not to hit the water. This he/she was not an easily dismissed person.

"I have no idea what this symbol says." That was so true. She was trying to figure out that symbol on the metal plate and nobody she met since yesterday could give her an answer. She looked at the water and then mumbled under her breath. "Seems like I was a ninja some time ago. From some village. But I can't remember which one." She was getting too talkative and she realized that after saying what she said. Shit, that wasn't very good at all. She closed her eyes to take a deep breath. She wasn't going to have much sanity if this conversation didn't stop right there and chances are the he/she wasn't going to let her go anytime soon.

She noticed that this stranger decided to finally show his/her face to her coming out of hiding. Or he/she had been out of hiding for some time. Facing the person now she saw that it wasn't his or her face that was staring at her now in a crouched position. It was a mask. She hated people that wouldn't show their true self to her. It was just disrespectful. And more over she really wanted to ask if this he/she was a girl or a boy but her question would come out so rude that she bit back the urge. Deciding to change the subject, she asked tactfully. "What are you doing here? What's you're name?" Her own fire of questions came.

"I have no idea what this symbol says. Seems like I was a ninja some time ago. From some village. But I can't remember which one" Shinobu considered her for several moments, and although it could have been a ploy, the Hyuuga chose not to pry further into it. At least, not for the current moment. If she was speaking truthfully, then that was business of hers... Shinobu didn't really care.

"What are you doing here? What's you're name?" So she'd decided to shift the topic to Shinobu instead. That was fine enough, Shinobu guessed, having nothing to really say to the girl beyond accusing her of lying, or just leaving her alone. Taking this opportunity to try and push sleep away, Shinobu began to stretch, legs reaching out to the sides, one at a time, body bobbing to put strain on the muscles.

"I'm known as Shinobu of the Hyuuga. And I live around here..." Shinobu trailed off. It still wasn't completely safe to just tell the girl that Shinobu was on patrol in the area. After all, telling her that the Hyuuga was seeking out curious individuals to keep them at bay was as good as telling her to keep her mouth shut about her real purposes. Then again, it wasn't like Shinobu to try and be really sneaky about things, either. The teenager wasn't really in the mood to deceive the girl in order to get her to reveal hidden plans about attacking the leaf, if she even had such an intent in the first place.

She watched the he/she stretch out it's limbs. He/she was a Hyuuga? 'course she had no idea of the kekkei touta. She dismissed that statement like anything else. This person even had a neither masculine nor feminie name. That was scary. Shinobu--sounded like shinobi to her. She nodded slowly, not quite interested at the conversation anymore. She wanted to ask stuff about the place he/she lived in but she had no place. She was a stranger on a strange land. She cracked her neck a little; her body was stiff from training. She wanted a massage.

Her vision was blurring in the not so good way. She wasn't feeling faint. She knew exactly what she was feeling though. Her chakra began to pulse. Her insanity wasn't going away. It was getting closer and closer to the surface of her body. Not good. Meeting a complete a stranger perked her inner personality. She had no control of it whatsoever. Her hands vegan to shake. Control control control!

Her expression darkened into a menacing look, her eyes slits and a smile of pure evil was forming. She wasn't able to control her dark side anymore. Her tongue ran along her upper lip like she just finished eating a delicious meal. She craved blood, wanted it so much she would do anything to get it. A ruthless and reckless attack because she didn't know anything about her opponent. Anything at all.

One sudden attack was going to start the battle. Her hand reached to the weapon pouch strapped to her right knee and pulled out two shuriken. She would throw the two shuriken at the person's left side. She was going to test the person to see just how good he/she was. She wasn't even sure if she wanted to kill--but she wanted her fun. Let the games begin!

Unfortunately for the girl, the scale of battle was already tipped in Shinobu's favor. The Hyuuga's Byakugan had been active this whole while, considering the caution presented when dealing with a foreign shinobi. Thus, the fact that the girl's chakra was changing meant that something was about to happen. Shinobu had already prepared to roll out of the way, as the need called for it.

Twin glinting pieces of metal were suddenly flung towards the Konoha-nin, aiming at one side, in particular. Even from the strange, crouched position, because of the Hyuuga's insight, Shinobu was able to neatly push off to the side, narrowly avoiding the shooting stars of metal. Next, Shinobu would act upon impulse, recalling the basics of every Hyuuga's fighting style.

Everything darkened, green symbols streaking across the ground. It gave way to black, swirling amongst white... the yin-yang symbol. The visual form of peace and harmony. Here, within the colliding opposites, was the balance of everything. Dark and light, good and evil, man and woman... Shinobu felt centered, completing the first technique for Konoha's side of the battle. All this... in the blink of an eye.

Arms freed themselves from their curled positioning, sleeves still loosely hanging past the Hyuuga's hands. They would not impede Shinobu's ability to fight. Assuming the Hyuuga battle stance, Shinobu gave the girl one last chance to save herself, in whatever way she felt she could. If it meant that she attacked him once more, then she would likely find herself in for a great surprise.

She lost part of her memory, her sanity but she didn't lose her nautural instincts. She'd always been taught to be on her guard. Even the most minuit of things could turn lethal if she was careless. She watched the person's every move; big or small. She had no clue what the Hyuuga kekkei touta was, no information on the Byakugan and the renowned Eight Trigams jutsu sequence. In many regards she was not well-informed but she was definitely not oblivious to what her eyes could see. It was only a matter of whether she registered in her brain the right messages that could then produce the right consequential actions that reflected the messages.

She was going insane but definitely not losing her senses. Her golden eyes took in the series of images in front of her, namely the actions produced by the persona. It's movements were quick she supposed but not too quick. Normal human standards, she would say. His speed probably matched hers if she so desired to make any sort of comparison. Her pupils never leaving the he/she, she was beginning to feel that she could probably win this. Though she had yet to see just what this being could do, she was determined to show him she meant business--subtly of course.

She was expecting the shuriken to be blocked or dodged and so she didn't wait for the results. There had been one jutsu she had in mind which would help her. And she had this insane obsession with snow. Almost all her jutsus were focused on the Yukina Clan specialty: snow and ice. She smirked as he dodged rather clumsily the shuriken attack. Because her chakra was active, coarsing through her body since she decided to throw her shuriken at his body. It was while he dodged that she formed the handseals to the familiar jutsu known as Yukigakure no jutsu. It was not an attacking jutsu but it was one of her favorites.

Her chakra released to the air and in a matter of seconds she was able to see the effects of her own jutsu. The persona would find him/herself caught in a snowy haze. The temperature was slowy dropping as the jutsu became more defined. She was so used to her own clan jutsus and becoming immersed in cold temperatures that it felt rather cozy now. Though she couldn't say he/she would share these sentiments as the haze would probably begin to freeze his/her muscles little by little. Seeing the effects of her jutsu in full motion, she would take a few more steps back, increasing their distance now to fifteen meters.

Yukigakure no Jutsu (Hidden Snow Jutsu)

Special: While in the mist, the enemy's mobility and taijutsu may be affected. A normal punch will lose some of its force and their ability to summon their chakra may be slowed. As the rank increases, both of these effects increase in effectiveness. All caught in the mist, including allies, fall prey to its effects.
Description: The Yukina causes the area surrounding their target to be covered in a thick snowy haze. Used to their own jutsu, the ninja are much more effective inside it's effects than their opponents. The haze is extremely cold, and exerts a freezing pressure upon foes that reduce the effectiveness of their muscle and chakra output. Those who have fought a Yukina within the mist and lived to tell about it have said it was like 'wrestling a bear after not sleeping for a week.'

Once more, Shinobu felt the extreme favor of this particular arrangement. The Hyuuga's sight was beyond normal expectations, speed unmatched by many, and distance perfect for the close-quarter combatant. The girl had performed a jutsu as Shinobu had dodged, which was fine enough, it would seem. The chilling, biting wind would not phase the Shinobi, protected, at least from the cold, by apparel. The small flakes dropping from the sky could not stop the Byakugan from working, which meant that anything the girl did was going to be noticed.

As of such, her attempted retreat would not work, as Shinobu suddenly sped forward, moving at such an ungodly speed, that lightning itself could be made jealous.... perhaps. However, unless the girl was as quick as lightning, she would be finding a sharp jab of chakra surging through her, the first attack made by the Konoha-nin. She was within Shinobu's territory, and that meant that she was in trouble.

It was so quick, normal eyes would not be able to keep up. To Shinobu, it was all so slow... The bloodline of all Hyuuga was fearsome, as many knew. The girl's chakra points were all exposed to Shinobu's eyes, and the teen would pinpoint them with ease. Each of thirty-two strikes were aimed brilliantly at the connectors, and should the technique connect, the girl would find that her chakra would be sealed off...

She smirked again as the effects of her jutsu reigned down on her opponent. He/she thought that the effects of her jutsu could so easily be dismissed and avoided and that alone was a grave mistake. Atmospheric weather changes cannot possibly be avoided. The biting cold perhaps. She noticed his trenchcoat and smiled. It wasn't that easy to just ignore the fact that Yukigakure no Jutsu was designed to have it's effect on even a person wearing a trenchcoat. 

And there was also that great haze which made seeing difficult. She of course could see, being trained with that ability as a Yukina. Her smirk turned into a sneer as she noticed he would want to fight against the haze and move towards her with an attack. Imbecile. His movements weren't that quick, hindered by her jutsu and so she had sufficient time to form the handseals that pertained to a second Yukina Clan jutsu. This one was more offensive.

Let the show begin! The string of handseals were going to form the basis of a technique known as Tsubame Fubuki. In short, she was going to create ten ice swallows to disable the movements and possibly do much more actual damage. She knew that her ice swallows could help her because they moved at lightning speed at the target. "Tsubame Fubuki!" she called to the skies releasing her chakra. This could be the end of this he/she. She was certain that her swallows would do a part of the work. As soon as she saw that her swallows were feeding hungrily on her opponent, she was going to think of her next round of attacks. The Eight Trigams attack wasn't going to get very far until Shinobu would find himself with ten ice swallows in his face.

Description: Hyouton • Tsubame Fubuki is a secret Yukina n Hyouton ninjutsu technique that, although basic, can be deadly with proper use. After a few brief seals, the clan member will create ice swallows which they can launch at their opponent at high speeds. As they fly through the air, these deadly birds can hone in on their target.

Alright, I was asked to mediate this battle since there has been a dispute. First, regarding Yukigakure no Jutsu. Although a trenchcoat would help reduce it's effects, the jutsu in itself would not be negated. So Shinobu, while still fast due to being a tai primary, wouldn't be moving at the speeds implied in the post and Snowie would be able to keep up with his/her's movements.

Another issue I noticed was how nobody stated a distance between one another until reply#10, where Snowie was the first to establish a 15 meter distance. Relying on linear movement and not any techniques such as Shunpo under the effects of Yukigakure no Jutsu, despite reducing it's effect somewhat, wouldn't be enough to close a distance of fifteen meters in time to interrupt the Snow Swallow jutsu. It would be more feasible to say you reach attacking distance just as Snowie's snow storm swallows technique is created. PM me if either of you have any questions

'Very well,' the Hyuuga thought silently. The scale had tipped, that much was clear. The initial cold had gone to a deep freeze a lot faster than Shinobu would have guessed. Although the teen was able to still move, the temperature was biting deep into the muscles that supported the Konoha-nin. The hindrance was annoying, even more so because it allowed the girl to gain spacing... spacing that put Shinobu at a disadvantage.

The next move on his part was going to need to be crafty, and it required some strict aiming. A good thing that being a shinobi generally meant one excelled at such things. Shinobu was no exception, being trained in the art of throwing, pinpointing, and eliminating. The first order of business was to avoid injury...

Even with speed hindered, the nearly instantaneous movement of Shunpo would easily throw off the swallows, which lacked any real intelligence. They were simply tools, and nothing more. The target they had honed in on was no longer where they had aimed, and they would crash into each other, as well as the ground, exploding into small piles of snow on impact.

Two shuriken... it was what the Hyuuga needed. Both were flung simultaneously as the flashing movement ended. However, they were not aimed directly at the girl. Instead, each one aimed at the sides of her, about a foot or so off. If she stepped in either direction, she'd find herself taking a chunk of metal to the gut.

Shinobu rushed her, knowing full well that she had no real option of movement. Either side, she was taking damage... forward, she would meet her doom, and backwards... There was no way she could move as quickly as the Hyuuga moving in reverse.

Provided that she decided to rush against her enemy, Sayaka would be meeting Shinobu's deadly technique, thirty-two deadly strikes just waiting to cut off her chakra systems.
