Entry # 1: Taking Flight

The day burnished with a rather atypical ember.

The morning was ripe and while the sun was ascending to the climax of the heavens, the Hidden Leaf village was vigorously ensuring its productivity. Crowding the streets, a number of populace roamed: merchants attempting to divest their stock and sell away their goods at varying prices. While some actually purchased the products of untold origins, other sporadically strolled by only to luck. The Consumer market was rather risky, and knowing what to buy and whom to purchase it from always made a difference. On the opposing in, the rather optimistic and industrial cooperation’s prospered with the wake of another day. It signaled work for the employees and a steady income for the employers.

The Yamanaka Flower shop found seemingly new customers as the Village currently was in a state of insurance security. Without the chance to generously leave (unless one enjoyed a thorough scanning) the populace was forced to retreat within the city’s extensive walls—namely the conjugal men, who attempted to sway their wives and as such, used the famous roses and affluent sakura to swoon their significant others. While other businesses, namely traveling acts and emissary’s suffered. The Village itself found a stable balance, and while some suffered, and others prospered, there was one professional that stayed sturdy. The occupation of Shinobi.

Having visited the Hokage’s Tower yesterday, and munificently accepted his first C-ranked mission, Ryūsuke was excited. While his eyes lacked the properties of the Sharingan for the moment, he could see clearly where he was going if completion was attained. The first building block to place into his prospecting empire. A genin was meant for numerous tasks, more importantly those that the Higher ranking officers failed to take interest in. Though such a reality discouraged most, the Uchiha saw it as a chance to place his foot in the door and achieve a reputation as one that completed any task given to him. No one was going to halt his progression. Kiniro and Asato were also out handling their own commerce, so a few days away from the village wouldn’t hurt.

According to the mission description, the Uchiha was suppose to find a peripatetic Artist from the Wind country and act as a protective escort while he painted beautiful scenery. Sounded easy enough, and the reward was plentiful; ryo to stock his refrigerator with food, and the rare chance to explore the entire country and not just one location from time to time. His eyes lit up with excitement, while his hands were clasped together in front of his body. Overly excited would best describe his physical posture as the Genin continued on towards the Village’s entrance.

“I wonder who I’ll be escorting? I hope it’s a woman, though a man is alright, I suppose. Why am I babbling to myself?”

Catching himself in a slight mutter, and realizing he was thinking aloud once more, the crimson-haired Shinigami smiled derisorily as he continued on. He was only a few moments away but it felt like a life time; anticipation and impatience surely played tricks on the mind, that was certain. Boy would he love to tell Kiniro and Asato about his travels. Maybe he’d even find some lost location and claim it as his own. Wouldn’t that be remarkable?

Description: A man has requested that he be escorted in his artistic endeavors. He plans to venture into Hi no Kuni, within the forest, to find beautiful spots in which to paint, where he will bring his surroundings to life on paper. Since the country can be dangerous, and wild animals may be about, he is willing to pay for the services of the shinobi.
Objectives: Stay with the artist and protect him until he is finished painting.

Entry # 2: Lift Off!

As time escarped and the plot awaited the arrival of the fabled Uchiha, commotion stirred at the Hidden Leaf’s Gates. A man, grabed in a rather scholar-esque design, fitting a jade and olive robe which covered his hakuma pants and sandals ranted aimlessly to one of the many patrolling Chūnin who kept guard of the gates.

“Sir. Will you please quiet you—“

“No! I have to get going. So many wondrous sites to see. So little time to paint!” Our culprit Identified himself as the painter who requested a bodyguard. His tone was rather patrician, and his mannerism and attire signaled nobility of sorts. Most likely a descendent of sibling to someone highly influential in Kaze no Kuni.

The blonde-haired Chūnin rubbed the top of his flat jacket and sighed exasperatingly. Obviously bothered by the intrusion of the Artisit and scholar, the Shinobi simply awaited the arrival of his shepherd. “Please wait patiently. Your escort will be he--- Ah! Ryūsuke, you’re here!” The Chūnin called out in praise, almost too happy to see the scarlet-haired Shinobi and soon jogged alongside the green encrusted man and positioned himself in front of the Uchiha.

“Finall—I mean all I need if your authentication documents for the mission and you two will be on your way.”

Nodding his head compliantly, the Uchiha pulled the moderately sized backpack off his shoulders, and soon rambled through the inner confines. \“Ah! Here it is.” [\\He exclaimed with a cheerful tone, pulling out a tan folder and handing it over to the superior ninja. After roughly scanning the parchment within, the blonde smiled amusingly, soon turning towards the gate and waving his hand. Within moments, subtle creaks formed as the massive structure moved outwards. “Finally. Let’s go boy!” the artiste said with a confident grin, snatching his own formalities from a fellow Chūnin and marking out with an eager swagger.

Ryūsuke, peering outwards into the forest that surrounded the Hidden leaf held a perplexed posture. “Alright, I guess…” He announced, picking up his bag and casually motioning behind. Nonetheless, before he could fully leave the gates, the same Chūnin that permitted their exit stopped the Uchiha and bent down. Allowing his lips to rest in the space beside the boy’s ear, he would whisper something rather subtly, and then motion elsewhere. “Be careful. Ol’ Art boy there is a snob. He’ll be a handful.” The Konoha Shinobi exclaimed, smiling before stepping back, allowing the Uchiha admission into the country land. As he exited, and the gates closed behind, Ryūsuke could only wonder one thing. What did he mean by that?

Entry # 3: Smile coupled with Streams

They set off! Step after step was only counted by the minutes and hours that passed. It was morning when the two left the village, and now the day sung towards the evening as the light was perfect, and the sun settled at its highest point. The Uchiha stepping behind the man, carrying most of the equipment as designated by his employer seemed awful content with complying with all the field work. Nonetheless, in the forefront, the Artist peered from side to side, looking for a decent location to set up camp, and begin its first in a series of four paintings.

“Okay, you with the red hair. Look for anything that seems appealing to the eye.” He commanded.

Nodding his head casually, and looking to his immediate sides, nothing stuck out of the ordinary that he would consider mind-blowing or amazing. Leaves danced down the trees above and the almond and pip coated pathway stretched for miles on in, and they were only two hours out from the village. “Hmm, what about the stream that’s up ahead?” Ryūsuke inquired to, as he looked up towards the sound of water flowing through a current. Having a modest understanding of the topography that inhabited his own country, and while some areas for foreign to him, the preponderance he could easily pick up on without much effort. Hopefully, the cocky artist enjoyed his idea.

Placing his finger on his chin, and caressing it gently, the Artist held a rather commentating gesticulation as he walked, as if entertaining the idea. “Okay! That will work.” He announced in a supreme tone. “Glad I thought of it.” Ryūsuke’s eyes lowered into a uninteresting gaze as the man seemingly stole credit for his idea. Sighing with an annoyed attitude, the Genin continued on behind the artist who now strutted towards the stream. It was a gorgeous one for what Ryūsuke’s memory was worth. Having always visited the place to soothe himself with his mother during his toddler years, such a place would bring back good memories.

After another hour or so of walking, the two finally reached the petite river. Enclosed by small patches of spring-tinctured flowers as well as glowing olive shrubs, the location and scenery was perfect for a “Mellow Painting” the Artist commented, looking on with bug eyes as if enticed by his very ambiance. It had been quite some time since he last had the chance to create a piece of art, and with such a quiet, a peaceful location, he couldn’t fathom what he could achieve; it was too extreme to visualize. He’d rather accomplish. Looking back at the Uchiha and smiling, he signaled him to move forward.

“My name is Jugō. Nagaki Jugō of the Sunagakure renowned painting establishment.”

“And I’m Uchiha Ryūsuke. Shinobi of the Hidden Leaf and presently, your escort.” The two finally found a moment of civility as they finally, after five hours of travel exchanged their names. The Uchiha gathered a more contented air from the man as he sat back, and watched Jugō paint. Each stroke enticing his eyes as Ryūsuke looked on from afar, admiring the work which was presented in front of him. Today would be a peaceful day, and as he thought about it, a slight yawn escaped the Uchiha’s mouth as he rubbed his eyes. Still tired and contently jaded, he dozed off, and would be alerting if anything happened hopefully.

It’s done.” Hours had filed pass, and as Ryūsuke gradually arose from his slumber, his vision adjusted to the sight of a beautiful, finished painting. Teals, olives, jades, turquoises and grays filled the canvas as Jugō stood aside, and allowed his accompanying partner to look on at his work. “It’s beautiful.” Ryūsuke exclaimed, standing up inelegantly, and soon walking towards the artist as he smiled. “It took four hours, but its finally done. Lets rest now, and venture somewhere else tomorrow.” He said, sighing and soon stretching. Spending four hours standing had to have been demanding on him; nonetheless, it was the profession he choose.

Entry # 4: Divide Affections of Stone

A new day brought the anticipation of another Painting for Jugō. He was an overconfident, over privileged man whose only compassion was demonstrated through his art. Though could one blame him? Raised in a family of affluence and diplomats, his life was handed to him on a silver platter and nothing truly spoke to his own dedication and efforts save for the very art he dedicated his own life to. If any fragment of humanity rested in his being, it was quickly showcased through the stroke of a brush and the lighting of a canvas with various colors and meanings.

Ryūsuke however wasn’t much different. Born in an elite clan and raised with nothing but chance presented to him, the only key difference between the two was the Uchiha wasn’t born with the same gifts as Jugō attained from his antecedent. Ryūsuke attained little to no reliability from his father and wasn’t even labeled as a genius. His strength of mind and body came from the same effort he placed into everything. Reward was directly comparative to the exertion and perseverance one placed into something and with the crimson-haired boy dishing out optimal effort, his reward in the long run would be ample.

“Ryūsuke. Are you enjoying yourself?” Jugō inquired, turning his head as he walked forward, only to peer back at the scarlet haired Shinobi who looked up with a pleased smile.

“Yes. I’m fine. Thank you for asking.” Answered with a tone that appeared to be the amalgamation of formal lingo and casual lingo, the Uchiha smiled as he attempted to catch up behind his lecturer. Their mission today was simple, venture off to the famed basin that was located only some miles off their current location. A large expanse of caving earth and subversive land, it was perfect for anyone who simply wanted to enjoy the view or carve such a well-known location into a canvas for the world to see on a later date. It shouldn’t be too far off, and with the land devoid of most treacherous creatures, the journey should be easily treatable.

The day shifted on, and morning soon turned to afternoon. The trip was rather widespread and they were more than a day and a half out of the village’s instant radius. This was the longest the boy had spent from his home and at such a distance might one add. Nonetheless he sighed if off and continued on. “You know once we get there, it may take you a good time to finish this one?” He questioned about the interval in a form of a statement, a declarative one, and one that Jugō snickered at. Knowing full well the canyon region would take some time and act as the largest expanse he had crafted into a painting was true. Nonetheless, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle.

“When we get there, you just relax and I’ll handle the rest.” He commented, waving off the comment left by the Uchiha without so much as a wave of the hand and continued on forward. Ryūsuke didn’t submit much with the demand, but shrugged and continued on behind the sanguine painter. After some odd hours of traveling and the sky ventured into something more delicate and gorgeous with shades of purple and orange, the after soon transitioned into night, and from this point, they had reached their location. The Uchiha simply gawking in awe at the sight of the immense chasm and waited for Jugō to began his painting.

“Just sit back, and sleep. You got a long day ahead of you.” Jugō spoke somewhat passionately to his younger accordance as he settled in front of the basin, allowing his painting materials to sweep across the floor from their once rolled compartments and with that the Uchiha nodded, dozing off once more. It would be several hours before he finished, and afterwards he’d take a concise rest himself. This painting was something he didn’t want Ryūsuke see, not just yet, anyways. There was something special, something he didn’t want to reveal until they returned to the village after all.

Entry # 5: Bathing with Angels

“You never showed me the painting, Jugō-san.” The Uchiha noted with a rather curious tone.

“Maybe because it’s not for you to see.” Matched with an equally extraordinary comeback, Jugō turned around and noticed a rather discomfited facial expression on the Uchiha’s face and soon realized his comment did come off as a bit rude. Sighing as he turned around and faced forward, he noted his explanation wasn’t supposed to be taken seriously, nonetheless throughout their journey, it seemed he only caused more harm than good. He couldn’t appreciate why, and he couldn’t fathom how he could make amends. Nonetheless with time came answers, expectantly the boy stuck around long enough for his compensation. He had earned it after all.

Their travels would soon lead them deeper into the forest terrain as they passed by a number of petite villages and Watch poles which were scattered all throughout the country. Hi no kuni was a place of magic and the Artist couldn’t realize why he had just now ventured off to capture its beauty. A place so filled with astonishing attractions and splendid people should have been etched into marble with regal utensils; not standard canvases and some ostentatious array of paints. Konohagakure was a generous village. Jugō, if he owned such a land would have easily charged others to come. Knowing the populace, they would have paid regardless.

It was some hours until they came to a sign entitled “Land of Fire springs”, which approximately translated the distance two miles ahead. The day was steadily moving by, and such a location bound to have some rather voluminous women to paint. Turning to face the Uchiha, the artist signaled for him to catch up and soon that would punctually walk in the very direction that would ultimately lead them to the third painting in a series of four. Their journey would end soon, so why not make one of the paintings fun for the both of them? Ryūsuke was a deferential guy, but a guy nonetheless, he couldn’t resist the desire to see naked women in hot soothing water.

“About the comment earlier. I didn’t mean it in a rude way.” Jugō noted, and soon, the scarlet haired Uchiha caught up next to him and smiled; the taller and more maladroitly individual smiling back down as if connecting with his red-head counterpart on some level. “It’s alright, Jugoō-san.” The Uchiha exclaimed, forgiving the discourteous comment and soon pressing on as they passed the sign, forwarding entry into the hot springs. Relieving themselves of their normal clothes, and snatching a towel, they would proceed in. Luckily, it was a co-ed bathing pool; this would make their task that much easier.

The night was heaven, and while Ryūsuke enjoyed the company of a number of women who rather found him cute for his age, Jugō painted from afar. This would count as one of those memories that a child never forgot, and while the night was almost over, and it marked the beginning of their last search for a perfect painting location, one couldn’t help but smile after realizing what they had been through. Time elapsed, and the Hot springs closed. Waves of farewells haunted the two as the models (the women who actually were famous!?) motioned off, blowing them kisses from the distance.

“She wanted me.”

Entry # 6: A day to bask

Where had the time gone? It seemed like just yesterday when the two, and eccentrically might one add, left the village and discovered a whole new world of phenomenal possibility and opportunity. This was most likely the hardest day for either, for it meant saying farewell when the storm settled and venturing in different locations to return home. The thought would have actually brought a tear to either‘s eye if they were actually focused on such a negative day. It was true—neither planned to spend their last moments wasting away air when they could enjoy their finishing moments in style.

“Jugō-san!” Ryūsuke exclaimed as he raced across the ground, his back evidentially lighter without the massive freight of equipment he was forced to carry during their travels. Meanwhile, as the Shinigami expressed why he became a ninja with such nimble footing, in the environment, a silhouette dawned, followed by unrelenting sighing and gasping for air as Jugō appeared from nowhere. Exchanging roles for a short time, the Uchiha was now the artists and commandant of their expedition, while Jugō was the responsible Shinobi who was so adept at speed and endurance, he could move without fail even in the worst conditions imaginable.

Well, the artist didn’t expect fit the bill of the job portrayal, nor the expectations that Ryūsuke had set. Nonetheless, he deserved an A for effort and soon the two continued on to finding their last setting where the eventual end was to come. It was a ignominy really, if Jugō wasn’t so strident on staying in the Wind country, he could have found a great home in Hi no kuni, namely the location of the Hidden Leaf village. His stay was pleasant, and while the customs and climate differed from that of Sunagkaure no sato, the atmosphere was still roughly the same in terms of nice people and generous Shinobi who helped even the most cockiest of individuals out with their journeys.

Having stopped in a small, though abundant village just some odd dozen miles off the cost of the canyon, the two decided to take a break and gather strength. It had been some time since they last had a meal actually organized for them, and while the diner was small, the company was good. Taking seats an ordering their food, the two soon entered into an intriguing tête-à-tête regarding the conception of art and its origins. There was much to discuss and the topic was interesting for the most part. It wouldn’t be long before their night would come to an end, and tomorrow they would make way back to Konoha. Nonetheless, what happened to the last work of art?

“Bye, Shiki-chan! The food was discerning!” Jugō noted as he and his smaller partner motioned out of the diner and soon made their way to a nearby motel and would rest up for the might. Tomorrow presented a long journey back, and both were ready to return to civilized location. Packing up their equipment for their morning travel, and resting separately in their respective beds, eventually retiring for the night. Ryūsuke, snuggled tight in his blanket dozed off first, following Jugō as the night transcended into day.

Entry # 7: Its done!

All good things must come to an end. Nonetheless, the conclusion to one book opened the cover to another—a gradual transition from story to story, admiring the narrative in its entire magnificence will continuing the read in its trilogy. An analogy finding personalized substance in the tale of two different entities, finding the silver lining in one common interest; art. The morning was young, and a delicate chirp echoed over the infant sky, signifying the start of a new day. The sky moved gently, the sun rising in the east as the clouds complimented the summer objective of the animals and population of the nearby forest.

The two woke in their beds, a good night’s rest rejuvenating their bodies which sparked the morning hungry. Setting up, cleansing themselves, and eventually motioning towards the downstairs breakfast buffet which soon shifted into another jovial conversation centered around art. “I think we should get going if we plan to make it back to Konohagakure by nightfall.” Jugō insisted, wiping his mouth down after a delicious meal, and paying the tab for himself and his Uchiha partner as they motioned towards the exit and with something of a confident swagger as they moved outside the motel and stepped onto the pathway leading back to Konoha.

They stepped onto the gravel, and they waved off the individuals inside the motel, the two stepped towards the village with self-assurance in their walk. Their journey had been one with both ups and downs, but equal negatives to swathe the tracks of the positives. However it seemed as if the expedition itself was something to smile over as Ryūsuke snickered, realizing after today he would be back home, back with his team and family and fellow Shinobi. It was bittersweet, however as he realized that Jugō would have to leave soon. His mind wondered though; what would be the man’s last painting?

“Ryūsuke. Stop there, and pose.” Jugō exclaimed, stopping as he began to pull out his art supplies and began to pull together the canvas. Ryūsuke however looked on confusingly as he attempted to grasp the topic at hand. Why did he want him to pose and why was he taking down his art supplies? They had somewhere to be, and the designated time for them to get back home was coming close to hand, and with that, the Uchiha inquired. “Why?” He asked without shilly-shallying in his voice, but rather apprehension and puzzlement while he started moving with embarrassment.

“I want you to be the final painting, Ryūsuke-san.” He commented with a smile, motioning behind the canvas and skillfully swept away at the painting. Ryūsuke smiled contently as he realized he was the final piece to the puzzle, and as such made the traditional Hero pose as he waited a modest three hours until the painting was finished. Jumping excitedly, the Uchiha ran behind the painting and stepped back with shock. His eyes somewhat watering as the mellow dramatic sensation ensued. He was so happy and now he could go home with a gift.

“Its awesome!”
