Hell Hath no Fury [Rei][JE]

Today was a day meant for glory, triumph, and greatness. A day dedicated to the proclamation of skill as well as the execution of such. Today was the day that someone would rise through the ranks of the shinobi world as long a their will and their strength prevailed and allowed them to ascend to such heights. Of all those who would and could be eligible and willing to participate, only one stepped forth.

Aburame, Rei.

It was a name she had only ever heard in passing. He, of all people was one that she didn't expect to bid his name in participation for this event. But of all those who could he was the only one. Though she had her doubts considering he had fallen off the face of the planet for so long, that in itself is why she agreed. The audacity to prove his skills after such a long absence was commendable and almost admirable.

Of course that all depended on his victory or not.

Rei had been instructed a few days prior to meet at a particular location. It was far out from Konohagakure no Sato and only barely within the boundaries of Hi no Kuni and the neighboring Ta no Kuni. However it was still their land even if it was as barren as it was. Though, if one looked carefully it was as though it had been purposely made that way.

There were no trees, no bushes, brush, grass, or anything to hide in or restrict movement. There were no boulders, hills, or anything earthly either. Everything was flat and barren. All that Rei would have at his disposal would be his own skills that he seemed so confident in. That is where she stood, two ANBU guards standing at her flanks as well as a rather large carrier like cage behind the three of them.

It's contents, of course, was a mystery. All that was needed now was the combatant himself and things could go under way. Unlike the Chuunin Exams which was a public display of strength, this Jounin Exam was the opposite. A private display meant solely for the Hokage. After all, it would be her decision, Kohana's decision, whether or not Rei would join the ranks of the elite.

Reisuke, Reisuke, Reisuke. Gone for so long, but with his return, the determination to prove to his village and, most importantly, the Hokage that he has what it takes to become a Jounin. As he arrived to the remote location where he would be combating three individuals, along as something obscured by a cage. If he could defeat the trio first, perhaps he could prevent the encounter with confined surprise. There had been mischievous grin upon his face.

“Well, I certainly didn’t expect this,”

"Cocky punk."

It was all she said for the moment. After all, how dare he look in a mirror and worry about his own personal hygiene when his test was before him as such. Sighing, she nodded her head once and the two ANBU that flanked her retreated a few steps back to the carrier that had been brought here. Kohana's eyes never left the boy before her. Technically his exam hadn't started yet, but she felt it would be her best interest to not take her eyes off of him.

As Hokage, she was able to do a little homework on him. Though it would be hard to inflict an illusion on her, she mindfully let her eyes roam and not stay in a single place. She knew better than to fall prey to something like that. However it really wasn't that long until the carrier had been opened. The muffle of something moving could be heard as well a sickening crack of bones paired with a scream. In response Kohana shook her head.

"Enjoy. Take this puppet out and you will have Jounin status. We are not your opponents. She is."

The Hokage flitted away allowing the briefest of scenes to be seen. One of the ANBU held onto the other, the one being held slumped. A bone was clearly protruding from his arm but as quickly as Rei would see this they too, like Kohana before them would flit away to leave the Aburame with his opponent. This 'she' Kohana spoke of began to slink her way out of her carrier and stood once she was free. Perhaps to Rei's surprise, it looked like Kohana herself.

However there were notable differences. Her hair was longer, skin paler, and eyes were already ablaze with the Byakugan. Though the most notable of differences was the more feral, animalistic stare behind those bulging veins of her eyes. Then the smirk came and it was so sadistic that it truly could pass as an opposite of the Hokage. Regardless she dipped down into the standard stance that the Hyuuga would take via their Jyuuken.

That grin never left her lips and those eyes never ceased to ooze a profound viciousness. Even her chakra seemed to flare and lick at the air around her. Just what WAS this woman?

He could hear her taunt, but it mattered little what she said. It did not matter if she was one of the superior shinobi within his village, if she stood in his way, she would be crushed. Nevertheless, that was not the case. All she had been tasked with is giving his brethren, members of ANBU, a special assassination group adhering only to the words of their Hokage, the signal to retreat to the cage. Of course, this was until he released that the woman before him was actually their leader.

“Oh? Why, thank you! I appreciate the compliment.”

He continued to watch as everything unfolded. A girl stepped from the interior of the confine, appearing to be Kohana, though obviously not the real thing. That would mean that this battle would resemble fighting her, and that he would have to take it seriously. By the time this match was over, the girl would be decimated. While he usually murdered most foes, he could never do that to his own. This would be the only thing sparing her from the merciless killer.

“I hope you’re ready, girl.”

"Hehe."

Her giggle was given as her body coiled tightly, the muscles springing forth as she did the same. However with her movement she had drawn back a single palm whilst chakra gathered into it. In that second she would thrust it forward¹ to send a viscous wave of chakra educed wind at her opponent. However she continued to move forward as if following after her instantaneous pressurized assault.

After all they were only a handful of meters away from each other.

The faux Kohana's eyes would be ablaze with a tight, focused gaze courtesy of her Byakugan as veins bulged and pumped². All the while as she would attempt to close the distance between herself and her opponent her route would be serpentine in nature. Left to right, left to right, however the intervals between the time she switched from left to right wouldn't be the same, preventing any sort of prediction on Rei's part.

Though staple for ninja to cast hand seals and prep jutsu in preparation, the copy did no such thing. After all she had plenty of things in her arsenal to surprise the man with that had no use for hand seals and the waste of time that they created but could be prepped just by closing the distance...

  Special: The column of chakra sent forward is roughly two meters tall and one meters wide, and has enough force to lift a grown man clean off his feet and throw them several (five) meters back. When used at close range, the force can easily knock the breath out of their victim and leave them dazed.
  Description: Once the Hyuuga understands the art of summoning energy all at once into a single, fine strike, they are able to execute with the same precision, but from a distance. Extending chakra from their body, the Hyuuga will thrust their palm at the target, sending out an vicious wave of wind that can knock the opponent back greatly.

  Special: Allows the Hyuuga to see up to to 359 degrees all around them, in all directions, and through many surfaces, including rock, cement, and even metal; only special chakra barriers can block a Byakugan out. Byakugan is also able to magnify and zoom, effectively seeing every small insect in the area and even see the infrared spectrum, allowing clan member detect things through their body heat. The maximum distance is 1KM. Finally, because the Byakugan can essentially see chakra and everything around it, it can detect illusionary chakra (Genjutsu) in order to defeat it.
  Description: As its name implies, the Byakugan is just that, a featureless white eye that can occasioanlly posses hints of blue-gray and lavender, respectively. When the Byakugan is activated, the user's pupils become more distinct, and the veins near their temples bulge, representing the sudden chakra activation that makes the doujutsu possible. All members of the clan possess and can use the kekkei genkai from birth, as opposed to needing to awaken it. Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. With this vision, the Hyuuga can see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight. The distance and the degree of telescopic sight varies from person to person, and can be improved. Finally, one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see chakra, chakra flow as well as the chakra circulation system inside the body with great detail. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style - the Gentle Fist.

By simply giggling, the girl had somehow managed to awaken the sleeping killer within his heart, glass broken into fragments. Reisuke did not have the chance to murder somebody for a while, now. It had been ironic how hysterical she was. As she coiled, he dashed to eastern flank of the open space around her translucent wave of energy. He had been about three meters away from it. While she continued snaking forward, roughly five meters away to his western flank.

While she wasted chakra, he would rely upon the brethren of weapons obscured upon his person. Flicking his arms forward, six intertwined metal stars skipped through the atmosphere. They had been aimed to season her tender flesh to the left. That is, if she stopped. You see, that would not be a good idea if you take into consideration what they are coated with. Following his first action came the second, a couple of hand seals to multiply them. Of course, the replicas had only been illusions. Most shinobi fell for the simplest tricks.

If she saw more than one, than he would be able to recognize this by her blocking. It would be quite humorous for somebody not to dodge an attack cover a wide area. However, if she pushed forward, than he would be able to determine what the powers of her eyes were. This had been a meager tactic to learn her abilities. The insects within him had been ready. There sure had been plenty of them. 2,000 overall. He had that many to spare before he had to recharge.

The majority of his miniscule army within him percolated through his skin, digits dancing to the song of his hands. They would congregated together a meter to his right, forming a twin, highly resilient, and resembling him in every way. Although what they could provide were limited, they would be useful. They holstered a surprise at the upper left side of their torso. His double darted forward toward the girl, him following three meters behind, both zigzagging to evade any sneak attacks.

Her grin never left her face as she continued to run forward. Even as her wave of chakra missed and even as the boy before her darted to the east in order to evade. She continued on her path, though ran in a long, wide arc that would allow her to round about and meet the boy in close quarters unless he continued to run from her. That was fine though, she would keep pursuing him no matter what.

The boy's retaliation? Throwing shuriken at her. That was nothing of any concern to her however. Even as they seemed to multiply it didn't bother her. The sudden appearance of chakra filling the air, essentially cloning the shuriken, was enough for her to track which were illusory and which were the real ones. The Hyuuga would pivot and turn sideways in a back pedal to pass through a few of the illusory shuriken in order to dodge the real ones.

In tandem with dodging the shuriken whilst moving through the fakes, her eyes could watch at the boy made a clone of himself with his insects. Another feat that she could track and distinguish. The bug clone charged her while the real one followed behind roughly 3 meters following the same zigzagging evasion technique that she had just shown prior. So in response she would retract her palms and push forward one wave of chakra from one, and then another from its twin aimed at the zigzagging pair.

If anything it was used for distraction or to at least break the pair up in order to set them up for something further. However that didn't mean that she attacked them without aiming. Both waves of chakra were aimed directly to the opposite side of where each one was zigzagging to. Considering their pattern, the waves would continue forward and hit both parties mid zag. But whether it did or not she would have stopped now all together.

If anything it looked as though she was welcoming them to get in close to her. After all she was a Taijutsu specialist. Why not get them close so she could strike them with her palms...or at least that's what the coil to her body would suggest.

The girl may have looked like Kohana, as his clone looked like him, but if this is all she had to offer, and the Hokage was the same, he would never fight the woman. Not out of fear, but out of the mentality of knowing that he could easily kill her. Luckily, for her, his loyalty had currently been expressed toward Konoha. Under the circumstance he became a nukenin, things would be bad for her. You never truly know when you are going insane.

Essentially, by seeing the shuriken, depicting which were real and which were illusions, and, ultimately, dodging them, she had set herself up for his next assault. During her pivot, his fingers contorted, and by the time she started her back pedal, she would find herself entangled by the thread attached to one of his shuriken. It had been from head to toe, likely tripping her as she stepped back. The shuriken would pierce into her flanks as it halted, paralyzing her.

If she were to avoid all of this, in response to her continued movement, and her next assault, the moment her hands sprung back, the duo would stop their zigzag formation, instead, heading the direction that each were faced. The clone had gone west, while he went east. This had been the same attack as before, thus he already knew what to expect. Both would land two meters out of its range, the replica dashing forward immediately after, pulling the trigger.

Reisuke would flash back to breach distance between himself, and his third assault, which had been releasing laced air, likely to disconnected her ocular nerves from her eyes if she did not play safe. However, even doing that held its own problem. The duplicate never stopped moving, and whether all three of his first maneuvers failed or not, they would keep heading forward to charge her. Under the circumstance that contact is made, they will begin to feast.

“Pitiful.”
