Entry # 1: Taking Flight

The Hokage had assigned Ryusuke to another Mission, and while this one seemed more up the alley of a Taijutsu specialist, he assumed his hard work and dedication had named him benefice of such an honor. Constantly, and daily it had seemed like his goals were more so completing missions then actually training. Nonetheless, he didn't mind, for each venture outward, he gained a better understanding how what he could and couldn't do. If only Asato or Kiniro were there, things would have been more interesting. Nonetheless, as exclusively announced, this was a solo mission-- a assignment he had to do on his own.

Stepping from his Uchiha manor, and casually strolling down the street, Ryusuke wasn't equipped with his normal attire or weaponry. All that resided on his frame was a sleeveless Kosode, grey hakuma pants, and his hands and feet tapped securely for a more dexterous sprint. He moved towards the gate's exit point, and his mission would take place roughly a few meters from the gates.

Moving down the Hidden Leaf crowded streets weren't the problem, as the boy easily cleared much distance by roof leaping, exiting one's house top and motioning towards another in a very acrobatic sprint towards his designated location. He wasn't far off ass the village gates became visible from a distance, only a matter of time before he arrived, and as such, a smile manifested on his face brightly. Hopefully he could complete this missions swiftly, and retained the respect he upheld until this point.

Finally reaching the front gates, the boy leaped down from the diagonally facing building and swiftly jogged to the entrance, where he was greeted by two Chunin. "So, you finally got this mission, huh? Okay you can go but do us one favor. Win" one of the Chunin explained with a smile, ruffling the Uchiha's crimson locks before signaling for the gates to be lifted. He was proud that so many people had such fate in him, which was only more incentive for a successful completion.

"I'll try my best!" The uchiha announced, waving off his friends and family, and without further stalling, proceeding into the forest and made his way towards the starting point which was only roughly fifty feet off from where he currently stood.

Description: The Land of Birds have always been known for their competitive races to see whom is fastest. A representative from Bird Country has asked our Hokage to pick out one of our fastest runners to race around the Land of Fire in one lap. While this would seem to be an extremely easy task for a shinobi, Bird Country has produced a ridiculously fast runner, whom has gone undefeated in three other countries.
Obective: Prove that Konoha has not only powerful, but swift shinobi in it's ranks.
Reward: 50 EXP and 1,000 Ryo plus a C rank pair of Training Weights. (While supplies lasts)

Entry # 2: Commence

"Is the Konoha boy almost here?"

A voice, weakened by age rattled in the middle of the forest as the Adviser and overseer of this event from the Bird country spoke to the Konohagakure proctor. The match was scheduled to start soon, and to his side, a young man, maybe a year or two older then Ryusuke stood with lightly blonde hair, and ocean blue eyes. That was the Bird country's racer, and from his built, he seemed overly equipped for this experience. Having waiting a total of three hours for the Uchiha's arrival, they were unremarkable early, as the dispute wasn't assigned for another hour. Nonetheless, they came regardless.

"He'll be here soon." The Hidden Leaf messenger sounded, attempting to relieve the old man of his impatience and caution him not to overwork himself. He didn't require the need of a medical ninjutsu to understand the Bird country adviser was extremely old and sick, and he didn't want to over work him or stress out his muscles and brain. While they were early, the old man viewed Ryusuke as late, and this wouldn't sit over nicely with the Hokage, that was for sure. Lets hope he arrived soon.

After a good three minutes of strolling through the forest, the Uchiha came up on the group, but before making himself known, took a moment to stand back and reflect on why he had taken this mission. The Hokage had sent word for him to do it specifically, because he trusted in him. What if he failed, and dishonored his entire village-- his country? While the Uchiha couldn't live with such a disappointing legacy, it was only incentive for him to win, and continue on his path to greatness. Remembering that, he turned around, and with a smile, proceeded into the opening.

"I'm here." Ryusuke made himself known, and soon the three others smiled, turning to face the scarlet haired Genin, who soon took position on the line, which was promptly followed by the opposing racer. Both seemed overly determined to win, and while both held enough confidence to run around the world, who held enough ambition to be the first to scale the entire priority of the Fire country?

"This scheduled race is between Uchiha Ryusuke of the Hidden Leaf and Fire country Versus Mikacho Ichigo, of the Bird Country. Take you stance."

The proctor of the Hidden leaf made the official announcement, and with that he and the elder soon took place behind the land greatly, motioning into the shade beneath a tree as they awaited the final count down and the commencement of the race itself. Two proud nations now in a battle against time and body, who would come out victorious? While both sides wanting to win, in the end it would be a good race and hopefully everyone could keep a solid, and composed mannerism while the duration of the extensive race carried on.

Entry # 3: Go!

Tensed within an inch behind the ground yellow line painted across the floor, Ryusuke and Ichigo waited eagerly for the countdown to sound. Both realizing how important this race was, their minds weren't so much fixed on the other, but the path that rested ahead. Everything was mapped out for them, and while Ryusuke basically knew his county hands down, a good guide never hurt anyone, and with that mentality, he smiled after realizing what he was getting himself into and how his friends would react if he actually lost or won the entire thing.

Asato, he would surely laugh if off, as if not believing anything Ryusuke told him of importance. Knowing he was the physically slowest within his inner circle, Ryusuke knew it would be farfetched for anyone to believe he won a pure foot race against a conditioned runner. Nonetheless, if provided evidence, Asato would turn around and accept it for what it was, even bragging about how he would have won faster, which was most likely the case seeing as he was the faster runner.

Kiniro on the other hand would have been more modest about it and congratulated the Uchiha on his swift victory against a killed opponent. The one of the three who admired hard work, and rewarded when it was due, she would have most likely taken the Uchiha out to eat, to celebrate his win. Nonetheless, once the bill came, she would promptly smile and ask for him to pay it. Smiling, he'd do it regardless since the bonus at the end could cover a hundred amazing meals.

Ichigo, on the other hand didn't have such a pleasant mindset going into the face. He knew his family forced him into this only because he was the fastest teenage runner in his country, and while he was content with that, the race was still nothing to be proud of, even more so if he loss the race in the long run. He had to win, and he had to win without dishonoring his family and country. The race was about to begin and with that, the proctor soon stepped out into the opening, and raised both hands high above his head.

"1.....2.......3......GOOOOOO!"

He announced, and as such, both races kicked off the ground and swiftly darted past the Proctor, a large veil of smoke accumulating in the opening, forcing the man to choke slightly, and rush out of the poisonous cloud coughing slightly. Gone in the distance, both racers swiftly made it past the one hundred foot marker and soon enough were out of distance. The Hidden leaf and Bird counter overseers jaws dropping as they realized the true speed of the youth.

Entry # 4: Get at me!

While the two overseers rested in the background, seemingly waited for the two to arrive on the opposing end, and soon swiftly circle around and return to their current location, the Hidden Lead adviser could only wonder how skilled the Bird country's racer was. He seemed more disciplined then anyone he had previously met of such an age, and while Ryusuke was determined, his mind set was much more humble and forgiving, while the other seemed more rigorous and stern. Was he truly punished just to compete on such a level?

As the Leaf thought of the Bird country's' racer, the same was following suit for the opposing Adviser as he thought about his own racer. Ichigo was fast, and with a few more years if training, would most likely be the fastest runner in his entire country, and only at seventeen. If he could just win this race against an opponent who seemed slower, they would be set. Knowing Konohagakure promoted Shinobi, he wondered if they had any tricks to augment speed. Nonetheless, if so, they also had their own tricks. This race wouldn't be fair for either side if they didn't.

Meanwhile, the two racers sprinted through the forest, blades of grass picking up beneath their feet as they motioned with such speed, not even time itself could keep up. Truly, it was now obvious why the two were chosen to compete on such a leveled playing field-- they were ridiculously fast for their age, and endurance and stamina seemed to have been in abundance as nothing fainted nor gasped for air.

Starting, Ryusuke was losing only by a few yards, as he saw Ichigo just up ahead, skillfully running and eluding all obstacles that hot in his way with an unforeseen speed and persona that one couldn't comprehend until they held the same approach. This race was going to be so fun, he thought to himself attempting to catch up as he picked up his own speed and starting moving slightly faster then usual. adrenaline had settled into both of them, and while one was more dominant then the other, the race itself was far from over. There was many miles to go, and this race had no official time limit.

Catching up, the Uchiha smiled as he was now just a few feet behind, and could feel himself only growing faster as he reached his hand out, attempting to grasp the shoulder of his opposition. Not to slow him down, but rather try and see if he could actually match his speed, Ryusuke dragged his arm back, not trying to throw off his balance and velocity by touching an obstruction. From there, he'd just run and hopefully, would surpass his Bird country adversary.

Entry # 5: Miles on end

The race reached its first milstone-- an hour had passed and two were still well on their feet, attempting to outrun the other as they moved at neck-and-neck proximity. This was unreal, both of them thought in sync, attempting to understand why either of them couldn't get the edge in this race. It was hard to assume they were just equally good, considering their differing styles of training they undertook to get to this point. Nonetheless, without much effort, they only could go with what they knew. It was just so frustrating being evenly matched in such an area.

Having been training since he was four, and pushed rather harshly to achieve the current success he had, Ichigo was bred to be a racer; it was all he knew and cared for. Having no real family, eh was adopted at birth, and settled into a family of racers who all were world class runners and sprinters. Though it wasn't his biological family ,it was all he had and knew, and didn't want to disjoint them. All the beatings, all the hours of constant running and conditioning was for this. No one knew the secrets of his training, nonetheless, they were unbearable for the normal and weaken soul individuated.

Ryusuke on the other hand was a Shinobi, and born into the grand clan Uchiha. Ever since he was young, his training was instituted by his father and academy peers. While Taijutsu was the weakest field of his combat weaponry, it wasn't something he neglected. He was nimble footed naturally, and could easily sprint for days on end-- the boy was just that well conditioned, and it showed in his sprinting against one who would have most likely succeeded as a Taijutsu oriented Shinobi. He had to continue on, and no one was going to win this dispute for him.

The race continued on, and two found themselves exiting the first portion of the forest, as directed by their maps, and soon they moved forward deeper into the second terrain. They wouldn't hit soil dirt land for some hours and needed to past the third and final terrain of forest. Nonetheless, they were confident that could be accomplished in no time. An Uchiha who held such ambition, and a determined man brought up in a house of running masters, who truly had the upper-hand in this battle?

"Who do you think would win?"

Back at the starting and finishing point, the proctor decided to spark conversation, realizing they would be here for a while, so why not make it worth something special to them? The elder looking over with a grin decided to instate his own answer. "Well, your Uchiha fellow seems good, but Ichigo was bred for this sort of thing." He said rather cockily and turned his head to face the direction in which the sprinters fled. The Hidden leaf ninja could only sigh and smile halfheartedly.

"I suppose so."

Entry # 6: Breach!

Three hours soared by, and without much effort, the two finally surpassed the initial three stages of the forest region and found themselves moving across sheer dirt as a flat plain now occupied their location. Feet easily depicting the idrt and gliding over it, the two runners with abnormal tolerance in terms of endurance continued on without even the slightly hint of remorse towards their own well being. This race was truly serious and it was highlighted through each step they took.

Asato and Kiniro were most likely at home in their comforts of their beds enjoying a work free weekend, or more so out enjoying the nice day eating or simply having fun. Those two always knew what to do when boredom settled and as much as it was worth, Ryusuke wished he was back in the village with them. Running for a solid three days didn't sit well with him, and knowing how paranoid his mother got when realizing her son was absent for long periods of time wasn't settling well either. He wanted to look after her when he had the time and patience to. Only the better part of two and a half days remained, though. That was something he adored.

On the other hand, who did Ichigo really have to go home to? A foreign family that would only scold him if he won or loss, falling back on how he could have done better or moved faster? That wasn't the life he wanted to base his final years on once he reached a certain age. He was meant for much more, and a destiny filled with prosperity for a child who only acted on the breeze of the wind. His adviser and mentor would most likely abuse him further if his loss, and while still evenly matched speed wise with the Uchiha. Somewhere deep down, he felt inferior to the boy. Envied him even for all he had.

"R--Ryusuke!" Ichigo called out, strands of blonde following in the backdrop as he moced neck and neck with the Uchiha speed demon. Nonetheless for the first moment, the boy ignored him, too focused on the task at hand to even bother until suddenly the Uchiha heard the comment, turning his head slightly only to look at a sweating Ichigo. "Yeah?" He commented, heavily breathing as he ran, attempting to catch his breath and soon smiled. And that moment, Ichigo's demeanor dropped significantly, and he slowed down only slightly, allowing his opponent to take an inch lead.

"No--nothing.." And with that, he felt defeated already. A simple smile turning his entire mindset upside down, and eventually spoiling the wonders of ever wanting to attain true victory, Ichigo was mentally dominated with the first sign of true happiness he had experienced in some years. Nonetheless as he lowered his pace, Ryusuke did the same, feeling concern for the body and soon turned around to speak with him as the two mildly jogged on.

Entry # 7: Confession

Before long, and after another hour of so of running in complete silence, Ichigo finally came to a direct stop, only noticeable by Ryusuke as he motioned a few yards ahead and came an abrupt halt of his own. Turning around to face his running companion, the Uchiha was rather perplexed as to why the both of them seemingly came to a halt, and why they were standing directly in the middle of a grand opening. Anything could come out and attack without notice. And neither of them surely wanted that. The beasts of the Hidden leaf were reinforced and attacked without remorse.

Not saying much at first, the Uchiha simply stood still, and soon motioned closer to Ichigo with a cautious, though concerned pace as he attempted to gauge the issue. Was he injured, or did he hurt his legs moving at such a speed the Uchiha wondered? Analyzing the situation momentarily, nothing physically seemed wrong with him, he stood upright for the most part and no noticeable strain was evident in his eyes-- needless to say, he couldn't really tell with the mess of gold that occupied his scalp falling down to his face. He seemed disheartened about something as he looked down with an impassive gaze towards the ground.

"Why are you so happy?" Ichigo inquired, lifting his head, revealing tears within both eyes.

"Uhmm... w--" Ryusuke was at a loss for words and truly didn't know how to respond. Did he really just inquire about another person's happiness? If so, how could the Uchiha explain without possibly ruining the already degrading situation to begin with? Pondering on a number of possibility, nothing seemed right and he couldn't a actually fathom a solid, equal answer that would uplift the mood, so instead, he'd take a diverging route, and make a question of his own in attempts to route out the situation as best and as swiftly as he could.


"Why aren't you?" The Uchiha inquired with his own curiously concerned tone and soon Ichigo's eyes widened. Did he really just ask why he wasn't happy? "You didn't answer my question..." Ichigo exclaimed, attempting to divert attention from the previously instated inquiry as if somewhat ashamed to answer himself. Things just got real, and while he couldn't place a finger on it, Ichigo deep down, really wanted to answer the question as best he could. Nonetheless, across the field, Ryusuke knew he wasn't going to get an answer unless he gave one himself.

"I'm happy because I have others that keep me uplifted." He said, referring to all his friends and family back at the village and once again, Ichigo was defeated by his equal in speed, but not in life. Whipping away his tears, for the first time, the blonde cracked something similar to a smile, which warmed the Uchiha's heart as he reached out, giving a hand to the boy, and without hesitation, but some timidness, the blonde accepted.

Entry # 8: Its over

Time was up, and the tree day assumed marking period for their return had expired on a lovely Hi no kuni Morning. Stretching, and seemingly relieving his body of pent up tension, the Proctor from the Hidden Leaf awoken from his slumber and soon smiled at the sight of a lovely morning's Sun. Having spent the better part of three days in the forest just outside his village without a single move, he was content knowing today would be their last day out here. Having other things to attend to of far more importance in his mind (wife and kids, of course) he awaited the arrival of the two young racers.

On the other hand, the mentor of Ichigo and the Bird Country's adviser also awoke the sun and hissed. The bright light was too much for his old, weakened eyes and he couldn't wait to return home. The race was almost over and as he himself stretched and regathered the flexibility (though it goes without saying whatever he obtained from his own stretch wasn't much), the old geezer smiled a cheesy grin and looked out into the distance, waiting for the two runners to return. Hopefully for his sakes, and the Blonde's, Ichigo was in the lead.

After some hours, boredom settled and the Leaf proctor sighed contently. He never got much time to simply spend gazing at the forest land around him. Nonetheless, three complete days worth was more then enough for him, after all, his wife owned a plant story and if he wanted to look at grass and shrubs all day, he could do so in the shop, accompanied by his wife and two little daughters. Gosh he missed them. Almost losing hope, the man happened to look out into the distance, realizing an approaching shadow emerging through the light of the sun. Sparks of red highlighted in the rays.

"Ryusuke?" He murmured to himself, careful not to alert the old man to his side. Nonetheless as the figure approached closer, the chunin proctor couldn't contain himself and soon jumped up for joy as he shouted. "ITS RYUSUKE!" Arms flailing around, the Hidden Leaf proctor rushed towards the line, holding his arm out and soon found him palm touched by none other then the Uchiha himself. He had won the race. Nonetheless, realizing this, another shadow emerged in the distance. Ichigo came in second and the match was over.

"You stupid boy!" The Bird country sponsor shouted, rushing towards the blonde and raising his hand as if to smack him. Nonetheless, before he could execute, Ryusuke rushed in, grasping the hold's man wrist, and forcing him off. "Tell your country we won. Ichigo has also decided to stay in the hidden leaf. So your services aren't needed here." Basically telling him to leave, Ryusuke , Ichigo and the proctor motioned back towards the village, and soon the elder rushed back to his own home, murmuring ill language beneath his breath. Mission complete.
