MISSION INFO: A GROUP OF MISCREANTS AND DEVIANTS HAVE SETTLED INTO THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE WESTERN ZONE OF THE VILLAGE. EIGHT IN NUMBER, THE GANG HAS LEFT BEHIND A STRING OF ROBBERIES AND MURDERS IN THE SMALL TOWNS THAT HAVE BEGUN TO SPRING UP ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THEY ARE FAR FROM SHINOBI - THEY ARE, IN FACT, HARDLY AS SKILLED AS AN ACADEMY BEGINNER. DEAL WITH THEM.

In the weak light of the morning just before the sun rises, Takumi struck out westward away from Kirigakure no Sato. As he walked he found himself following the ironically tall shadow attached to his small frame. He unraveled his mission scroll again to review and keep his mind focused on less annoying things than his own height. The ruffians he was pursuing were attacking the small villages to the west. All he would have to do was head west and keep his eyes out for trouble. Once he found trouble it would just be a matter of following their trail before silencing their embarrassment to the Mizu no Kuni.

But walking to all the villages just to see which ones were attacked was a lot of leg work the Aburame didn't care to use. A cloud of Kikai vented and seeped out from under Aburame's clothes and skin before ascending to the air above and washing across the morning sky like a buzzing gray cloud. The kikai would been in search of any tragedy like a fire, murder, or burglary. Odds were good that if the bandits were hitting small towns they were carelessly leaving destruction behind.

As the Kikai swarmed forward the sun rose and dawn broke out across the land and water before Takumi. He set out with a hearty step eager to get the mission over, prove himself, and get paid. Ahead of him was only the next mission in what he was sure to be a seemingly endless line of missions.

Kikaichuu no Jutsu (Destruction Bug Technique)

Special: Allows the user to control, without the need of seals, the bugs residing within. Highest rank determines strength and ability of bugs, amount of chakra that can be absorbed per turn, distance the user can control them away from their body, and finally, readiness (speed) at which they react to command). By default, it takes a full turn of exposure to the full swarm of kikaichuu, in which constant contact is created, in order for chakra leeching to occur; it takes the same amount of exposure for the user to absorb leeched chakra.

Description: Kikaichuu no Jutsu is a core ninjutsu technique central to all Aburame clan jutsu. After being born, the clan member forms a pact with the kikai, allowing them to serve as the host nest for the bugs. In return for feeding on the chakra the hosts' body provides, the insects will do the bidding of the clan member. The host can use the bugs to seek out the chakra of the opponent and attack them, allowing them to leech victim's energies and even create large figures. As a bonus, because the bug makes a bond with the user, they adopt all of their innate traites, including speed!

The ninja traveled west along the main road for much of the morning on what would prove to be an uneventful walk. A little before noon as the sun hung bright over the entire sky his scenery became a bit more interesting. A little ways south of the main road he could see what appeared to be a gray cloud swirling like a whirlpool in the sky above a small forest.

Making his way through the forest away from the main road Takumi would soon find himself come out of the forest to a small town that had clearly been attacked by the bandits. Embers from small fires that had just recently been put out were smoldering still. People ran to their homes at the first site of the ninja who walked through their town. Their fear did not dissuade him in any way as he walked through the town. The citizens were right to fear the kirigakure shinobi. It was the duty of the kirigakure shinobi to protect the people and they deserved respect for it even if the only way people knew how to show it was fear.

In the center of the town he stretched his arms up lazily yawning. As he did this the giant gray swirling cloud above the village flew down to be identified as the kikai he had dispersed. The swarm swirled around the ninja before flying out like a wave across the ground landing in any places the ruffians had stepped living vivid crawling foot prints of the attack.

One of what was sure to be many of the crime scenes had been found. Now Takumi had a lead and hopefully a trail to follow these fools down. He looked around the scene at the village that had been attacked, and at the citizens in fear. Perhaps if he killed these men the citizens would be able to show proper gratitude in place of fear.

As the kikai lead Takumi out of the village along the most prominent trail much of the swarm that was unneeded rejoined with the host crawling under his clothes and skin as he walked out of town. As he got out of town the swarm still in use sped forwards flying along the ground following the trail the bandits had left behind as Takumi followed now.

A few more hours of uneventful travel following the trail through other sites all to familiar to the first village he saw. Damage to properties, a few bodies, and blood littering the scenes. Unfortunately the ninja did not have the time to stop and examine the damages. The scenes conveyed all the message they needed to as he followed his swarm close sprinting past the chaos. The bandits had been this way and the damage was getting fresher.

Soon the sound of fresh cries and screams could be heard. Just off the path and looking to the right away from the road a pillar of smoke from the other side of a large hill could be seen climbing skyward. Takumi crept up the hill quietly before peeking over the top onto a small town where the bandits could be clearly seen pillaging.

The ninja watched as the violent thugs ran about chasing down citizens crying and begging for mercy. The thugs did not heed their cries and carried about their business as though they could no longer heard the cries of the innocent. Takumi's fists clenched as did his teeth as bugs began to school and swarm about his limbs preparing to leave.

In the shadow of the crouching ninja the kikai amassed leaving their host nearly abandoned as they filed onto the ground. The small cast shadow quickly overtaken as the kikai flooded out onto the ground covering much of the hill side. Creeping out along the ground they made their way spreading around the entire village along the tall grass and bushes undetected. As Takumi moved his kikai into place he closed his eyes and tried to relax, unclenching his jaw and fists.

After a moment of silence began a basic string of seals that all Kirigakure Shinobi knew. It would alert the bandits to the presence of a Kirigakure Shinobi, but the kikai already begun systematically entrapping them in the town leaving no where to run unless they could see where they were going.

The mist appeared at the ground first, nothing too out of the ordinary as it masked the march of the kikai. After a few moments the mist blew around gently becoming incredibly thick and obscuring the vision of everyone within the town. Of the eight bandits in the village three were visible on the streets while the other five were in the act of looting a house. Takumi stood up on top of the hill now for a better view of his next task.

The three bandits in the road saw the mist and in a panic made wild dashes in any direction for their lives. Two while not extraordinarily fast were quick enough to run across the bugs without allowing enough to latch on to form drain their chakra and incapacitate them. Scrambling hopefully out of the damned town they each paused at separate respectful times to investigate the burning sensation on their legs before seeing the kikai biting and chewing at their skin. Before either of them could swat more than two times Takumi had retrieved six needles from the pouch on his hip and sent three of them for each neck sailing mutely through the air before they silently pierced their targets.

The third bandit who had been on the street had gotten his incompetent ass lost and stuck in a dead end. The Kikai swarmed in now visible as they drew closer and closer crawling along the walls and floor. They began to crawl up his skin covering him and biting and chewing to incapacitate him in pain.

Kirigakure no Jutsu (Hidden Mist Technique)

Type: Supplementary / Suiton Ninjutsu
Range: 0 -10 meters
Handseals: Yes.
Chakra: Low to cast and sustain.
Special: Fills a large, 10 meter area with mist as long as the user keep the technique flowing. Each time retrained, area of mist expands by 10 more meters to a maximum of 50 meters. Mist blocks out all doujutsu requiring clear visibility, but does not hinder the ability to see chakra.
Description: Though very basic, the Hidden Mist Technique allows for the stealthier side of combat to rule. After forming a few simple handseals, the user causes the area surrounding their target to be covered in fog. The low visibility allows the ninja to silently and secretly assassinate their target, as they can move unseen, and if careful, unheard. The mist can be unsettled by a very strong wind based technique (for one post), though it will eventually return.

"Help! The kirigakure are upon us my brothers! Save me! Please!"

The five ninja who had just been busy burst out of the homes of their victims on the street in irritated confusion before seeing the mist that had enveloped much of the small town they were in. They soon began to call for one another trying to locate safely in the mist with their weapons raised high and their eyes darting wildly through the mists expecting a silent ninja.

Takumi smiled under his mask while he looked down through his pair of binoculars at the panicked bandits and civilians. It was time to remind them that Kirigakure no Sato were not push overs to allow the sewing of chaos within their homeland. Time to remind them, that they obey the law not out of a sense of what is good and right. Rather that they obey the law out of the mutual sense of fear that the Kirigakure shinobi had earned.

Putting away his binoculars and moving swiftly and silently he entered the town along the rooftops of their small buildings. Staying low he managed to stay in the cover of the fog as he planned his next attack. Two of the bandits were gone and the third would soon be as well. Now the other five knew of his presence so he would have to take them out quietly before they had a chance to regroup.

Suddenly Takumi heard voices from the alley the man had been cornered in. Creeping along he peered over the top of his roof into the alley to hear raised voices arguing. Still unable to get a proper view of the scene he lay along his stomach and slide silently down the side of the roof until he was peering over the edge looking down on the scene.

"What are those things!?"

"Just calm down I'm sure they're just ordinary bugs, quick to feast upon the dead."

"Those bugs aren't natural! The Kirigakuri Shinobi are here!"

"That can't be true! Think sensibly please. If Kirigakuri Shinobi were here we'd already be dead."

"You are."

The only sound that followed was a moment of gasping followed by a stifling squish as Takumi rolled from the top of the roof. As he fell through the mist, his dual wrist blades sprung out before being plunged through the back of one's head and through the throat of another silently killing them. Wrenching his blades from their bodies Takumi took a moment looking around himself in the mist to gather his thoughts.

At his feet were two more of the bandits now dead, and a third covered in his bugs that now began to march eagerly home after a job well done. Takumi stepped over to him casually drawing his kodachi from the meager sheath on his hip before severing his head. Re-sheathing the kodachi and putting away his wrist blades with a twitch of his wrists Takumi now had only three ninja left to deal with.

Leaping onto the roofs he began to quietly creep along once more. Now rejoined with the majority of his kikai he dispersed them in a thin cloud through out the mist. They soon found the remaining three bandits and lead Takumi to a small house that had been locked up tight from the inside. Takumi perched on top of a small house nearby preparing his throwing needles in case of runners.

"You brought this upon yourselves you know! They may be weaker than you, but those are proud citizens of Mizu no Kuni under the protection of the great Kirigakure Shinobi. And I know for a fact that you are far weaker than us..."

"Kirigakure Shinobi do not offer protection, they enforce obedience through the people using agents of murder! Look around you at this scene! The destruction we have done is nothing compared to the most minor of raids from the Kirigakure Shinobi!"

Even as the man roared back vainly against Takumi, the kikai were slipping quietly into the cracks in the walls of the building staying under the floorboards safely awaiting. By the time the man had said his piece all the kikai were in position. A few of the kikai grouped together and slipped quietly behind a fragile knick-knack before knocking it off shattering it to the ground and dispersing into a small group of harmless bugs scurrying for holes.

The bandits turned on the sound anxiously as the kikai behind them on the side of the house facing Takumi scrambled to open the window. As the nearest bandit to the window turned away from the smashed knick knack there were three silent squishing noises and he fell lifeless to the floor from three throwing needles through the neck. The other two ninja suddenly realizing what had happened and spotting Takumi slammed shut the window and got down on the ground covering their heads to avoid the needles as the kikai began to crawl up from the floorboards onto their bodies.

Takumi leaped down from the rooftop onto the street and walked up to the door placing his hand upon the door feeding what few kikai he still possessed into the door unlocking it and freeing the deadbolt. Kicking the door in suddenly he smashed into a scene of a crying innocent family watching horrified as the bandits clawed at their own skin trying to tear off the kikai.

Wasting no time the ninja retrieved three needles from his pouch and sent them zipping through the air and plunging quietly but messily spraying blood from the bandits neck. The second bandit witnessed his friend go down and drew his katana with one hand while swatting at his body with the other.

Swinging wildly across the room towards the family he had taken hostage he would find his sloppy strike blocked by a rising spinning sphere of Kikai that formed and quickly flew to the family from the body of his comrade. No sooner had the attack been blocked than the wall of kikai dispersed into a cloud swarming down upon the man as he cried out vainly. Before he had time to swing his blade wildly enough to hurt anyone Takumi stepped forward grabbing the man's sword hand and driving his other hand with a wrist blade up through the skull of the man stopping wild struggle instantly.

Mushi Kabe no Jutsu (Insect Wall Technique)

Special: Stops attacks one rank lower than the highest rank known. Consumption is equal to the technique being detained. Size of wall depends on the user's range of 'Kikaichuu', halved.
Description: Mushi Kabe is a secret ninjutsu technique utilized by the Aburame when defense is needed. After expelling the destruction bugs living in their body, they will surround the member and fly at a high rate of speed, forming a protective wall-like vortex. The vortex itself is strong enough to destroy incoming attacks, but the vortex can be disrupted and the clan members inside rendered vulnerable if sufficient explosive force is expended outside the protective shell.

Takumi retracted his blade and gathered his needles quietly before dragging the carcasses out of the house and tossing them into garbage receptacles on the street. Returning inside his kikai crawled excitedly all along his body to rejoin their beloved host before he turned to face the Family. He cleared his throat in a quiet and shy manner before looking into their horrified eyes still burdened by the scars of what had happened.

"Dear citizens of Mizu no Kuni. I regret to inform you, you were the most recent victim of a group of bandits that were terrorizing the country. I regret to inform you there is nothing we can do to pay for damaged properties caused by these men. If you wish you may loot their bodies to recover what valuables they may have taken from you. I am however pleased to inform you that you were certainly the last victims these bandits will prey upon. Kirigakure Shinobi will always take care of our own no matter what nightmarish stories you've heard told about us."

Takumi ended his meek speech as the last of it Kikai crawled under his skin from under his mask. The family merely sat on in silence and shock while Takumi stood for an awkward moment before wishing them a nice day and turning back out onto the streets. He would return to the bodies stripping them of any needles and recovering any kikai left behind before leaving the small township and returning home to report his success. Looking back on the trip he wonders if the family would be grateful or fearful in the future when dealing with Kirigakure shinobi.
