Towards the Hunt! [Deacan/Ekitai/Kastiel]

[The Dude]

The wolves fought and struggled tooth and claw as the shinobi fought on themselves to save the life of the child as well as each other it seemed. The mission hadn't seemed that difficult to Ekitai at first, but now he had to ensure and watch after his team mates. Ekitai was used to looking after others since that was his job after all, but there was something satisfying about team mates who worked along side you for the same goals. It was like he wasn't alone anymore, and that was enough reason for him to feel protective of the young shinobi. Protective with a prejudice against those who would do the company harm...

He finished his hand seals as he watched the final wolf stalk up closer to Reiko as she became distracted with the work of healing and saving the child. In a rarity there was no nearby water source at the time which could have presented a problem to other shinobi, but Ekitai was after all a proud Hozuki clansman. He was his own water source, and so the jutsu he complete burst forth from his own chest and shoulders as water streamed forward in a slicing jet with ludicrous speed slicing clean through the wolf's mid severing it in two. The remains of the wolf fell forward lifeless in a rapidly growing pool of blood as Ekitai ran up behind Reiko looking down over her shoulder at the child. "Is it going to survive miss Reiko?"

As he asked the question he looked back over his shoulder where his missing team mate and run off too but was unable to see him. His mouth creased into a slight frown but if the boy was truly capable a single wolf would prove to be child's play to him he was sure. He would simply have to wait for now and see what his little troupe of medics was capable of, but he had a good feeling they had salvaged as much success as they could have out of this mission as it was.

The ninken wasn't badly injured so she decided not to worry about it too much. A few moments later, she could feel somebody beginning to heal the wolf and she smiled. Well, at least somebody cares.. She looked down at the boy who was now asleep and felt a presence behind her. It was Ekitai, asking if the child would survive. "Its a boy and Yes, I think so." It was true, the boy would be able to survive as long as they finished the mission quickly and got him to a medical center. She was unsure of how many wolves were left but there shouldn't be too many. All of a sudden, she had an idea. "Should we take him back to the medical center, or continue the mission..." she wondered out loud. It might only take two of them to complete the mission but if somebody got hurt or there were more wolves left then Reiko thought, then all three of them would be required. But if the above didn't happen, then sending one of them with the child could save his life. This was one of those situations were either choice had an unclear outcome. Reiko hated being the one to make choices in case it resulted in failure. When it did, she always felt bad about her self and felt like it was her fault for everything going wrong. She felt a familiar chakra coming closer and got an idea. Reiko whistled a high pitched note to call her ninken and decided to check her supplies well she waited. The only thing missing was some ninja wire, so she was glad about that. There was a nudge at her side and turned to see Arashi waiting patiently. Reiko turned to Ekitai, "Do you think it would be a good idea to send the child with my ninken to the infirmary? " She didn't know how exactly it would work with the boy being unable to hold on, but it was worth a shot. [Deacan]

Deacan had finished healing up the ninken and told it to go back to it's owner. It wasn't in perfect shape, but it could be in a lot worse a condition. All in all, the wolf was no worse for wear. The next thing he had to determine was how to deal with this little beast beside him. He sat on the dire wolf that he had paralyzed, by his count the last one that should be a live. Deacan had multiple thoughts about how to handle this monster, and many were racing through his head. He could do some experiments with it, sure, but that would only satisfy him temporarily. He didn't have any cutting implements handy either, so for now, his only logical choice was to kill the beast and put it out of it's misery. But that wasn't Deacan's style.

Deacan breathed in and put his hand together as if praying, and the wolf whimpered and tried to get away. He breathed in and out as he manifested the clean and pure technique and used it to clean the wolf's wound. He then made some bandages to wrap around it to prevent further infection. There wasn't much blood loss, so that wasn't a problem. Deacan did his little prayer again and his hands had a green aura about them. He smiled as he pressed it on the wolfs back and it started to repair the damage he had done to it's spine. Deacan healed it completely and the wolf jumped away and back from Deacan. Deacan walked away from the wolf, a large amount of bandages on it's neck. It was definitely an interesting though process going on in Deacan's head. He felt no reason to kill the beast if it didn't attack him. If it did, he would fight back, but not when there was nothing to be gained. If he had a scalpel with him, he would have eciscerated the wolf and cut it completely open, but alas, all he brought were piercing implements.

Deacan walked back to the gate, walking past the others as he did, though before he did he went and retrieved his senbon.
"I'm done here. Nothing else to be gained."
He wouldn't tell either of them that he let the wolf live, nor would he care to tell anyone in the village. They killed 6 of the beasts, which was already more than the mission had assigned. Anything more was just wasteful overkill.

OOC: I'm hoping the mission is still counted as completed xD We did kill the 5 assigned wolves. Anything more isn't part of the mission so I don't think they can penalize us for it.

[The Dude]

The girl's ninken came trotting back in fine condition oddly enough causing Ekitai to glance curiously into the forest, but his other medic hadn't come out yet. Turning his attention back to the girl and her questions a slight frown spread across his lips, "Perhaps we could rig him to your ninken right now, but by my count I believe there is only one wolf left that Deacan is handling right now. Would you mind just taking him yourself? I'll go and check to see how Deacan is doing then."

But even as he turned to walk off into the forest after Deacan he saw the man walking back out of the woods collecting his senbon before walking right by them. He spoke in passing in a strange way, but Ekitai deciphered enough to assume the wolf was dead or perhaps it had gotten away? Either way the job was to be considered as done, and all that remained was to get the little boy back safely and turn in the mission. He called after Deacan gently, "Go ahead and collect the reward then and tell them the rest of us we'll be along soon enough, Deacan."

He turned back with a solemn frown upon his face as he turned about to look at miss Reiko, "Well then, our job is done so it's time we take the boy to some sort of hospital. You carry the child, and I'll be the one to tell the parents about his condition and how he came to be this way. Fair trade right?" Ekitai didn't want to make any of his partners do the work of telling the parents, the missions were small and whimsical for now and they shouldn't have to cause any emotional scarring or trauma. All that truly mattered was that they got the boy home now, Ekitai would break the news to the boys parents and they could get angry with him if they truly needed to.

Arashi licked her cheek and looked at the boy as if to ask what was wrong with him. Ekitai got up to leave as well , saying that he would tell the boys family about what happened and leaving her there. She sighed and picked the child up as gently as possible and walking carefully so she wouldn't accidentally drop him. She carried him through town and tried not to look at the people who were glaring at her, probably noticing the bite marks and blaming Arashi for it. "Keep on walkin'" Reiko muttered as she arrived at the hospital. Inside, she spotted a nurse and called out for help. The nurse saw the boy and flung her arms up in astonishment. "Oh my! What happened, who is this, is he okay! Oh, were did you-" Reiko glared at her until she stopped, not being in the mood for useless chitchat. The nurse ran to go get a stretcher and when she came back Reiko lay the boy on it gently. She quickly explained some of the details to the nurse, saying it was from a wolf and that he would need medical attention immediately. After she was done, Reiko and Arashi left to go file a report on the mission. "Well, that went well..." Reiko smirked. /exit.
