It was a good day for me. A splendid day, I might go so far as to say. My pockets were deepened by my own efforts, the countryside was safer, and while my clothing was perhaps a bit dirtier than I preferred, I was all the better for it with the experience that had come with the blood on my clothing. I was in such a good mood, as I strolled along Kirigakure's cobblestoned streets, that I forgot about the troubles ahead. The soft jingle-jangle of the coin in my pockets was pleasant enough to appease me, as was the sense of fulfillment of duty. It was as if what happened two days hence had never happened. In fact, as I gazed up at the cloudy evening sky, rich with warm pinks and yellows, I really did forget about the past, as I side-stepped my way into a familiar alleyway on my way to a home that I had quite absent-mindedly forgotten was now nothing more than a pile of cinders. I was young, and stupid, and I was surprised that my ignorance wasn't the death of me that night, for as I wound my way down the all to familiar path, I heard a sound...
And then it struck me. It was almost sunset; night was but a few minutes off. I was standing in an enclosed alleyway, in a remote part of the village, where few people travelled. I was alone, on my way back to a pile of ash that I had once called home, and of course, I was a target of a group of renegades who had an insane amount of influence on the village, and they wanted me dead. If I'd had time to curse my stupidity, I would have, but I reeled around, and quickly observed my surroundings. I was in a panic, looking for any outside source of movement or any enemies. I reeled my head around, and stared up to the rooftops, darting out to the end of the alleyway. If I'd taken the time to look back down, as I would have, were I not in the midst of a paranoia induced panic attack, I'd have likely noticed the young woman I was about to run smack-dab into. However, as I didn't look, the collision was almost inevitable, what with her rounding the corner and walking out front just as I cleared the gap between buildings.
"AGH!"

"AGH!"
"OOF!"
"Ah fuck... my legs... Are you okay?"
