In this moment the trials of Kusa were over, my subconscious now influencing me to set sights on the arid nation of Kaze No Kuni. And so I made it reality, casual footfall now guided me into the khaki colored wild. There was sand for miles, spreading out into the pumpkin horizon in the form of husky dunes. The wind was aggressive in this territory ~ but that was no surprise. The real surprise was how insignificant I felt in comparison to the sheer size of the barren outback.
My steps remained uneven with the constant shift of sand, eventually leaving behind quite the trail of footprints unlikely to survive in the night. My pretty face remained hidden behind a beige veil; the scarf serving me well in keeping curious sand out of my sanguine vision. The voyage was one of patience, as each step brought me closer to something I hoped would be worth the hardships. Out in the distance lurked the silhouette of a mountain of sorts; the only change in landscape I had seen in hours.
I took a sip from my flask, proper hydration high among my current list of priorities, before raising a hand to block out the sun. My eyes narrowed, barely able to make out a distinct glow radiating from the rocky cliff. Suddenly I realized that this was a volcano I was dealing with out there in the desert ~ and likely to be an active one. My intuition led me to believe that there was to be great fortune made by labeling that landmark as my destination. So I approached it, losing distance on it with each resolved stride.
