I stood atop a boulder, one hand on my hip as i looked out over our lands. They were so peaceful. Barren and dry, but warm, and quiet. Was i risking them? No, now wasn't the time to doubt myself, nor the course of action chosen for our village.
"Rosario, Jin, Gungnir, Bass, Kouhei, Max..." The key players seemed such a small number. Our troops were mostly assembled, a great variety of shinobi, all proudly bearing the Iwagakure headband as they stood at ease outside the gates.
"Do you have everything you need?" Rosa asked, standing nervously by the boulder, wearing the green of our medical unit.
"Everything but my shinobi." I replied, smiling at her, as if to assure her. This was the calm before the storm. As soon as everyone arrived, we'd be leaving for battle. This wasn't my first war, not by any means, but this was the first time i'd ever initiated anything on this scale. Yet as in charge as i acted, this was beyond even me. This was a decision made by our elders, our council. I agreed with it, of course. We couldn't ignore the recent events. And after all, wasn't it about time Iwagakure made its mark?
For too long the other villages had lain in the spotlight. Iwagakure was looked down upon, thought of as no threat, no great importance. It wouldn't continue, not under my glamorous rule.
"Darlings, to attention!"
