The paper mills seemed to be something of an industrious industry in its recent overproduction or quota filling of blank scroll production. Because of this, he had found himself again walking the same route he had before over to pick up the paper scrolls, those versatile parchments of paper that could end up as an old man’s tablet for calligraphy or some young upstanding artist’s painting pads. He couldn’t deny it, iwagakure no sato had if anything and active information system within its own structure, most of it of course flooding the tsuchikage’s office, but an active flow of intelligence back and forth nonetheless.

So it lay upon him to be the vital cog in the operation of the village’s most highly prioritized item: communication. Food and water, of course being slightly more important, shelter as well being a higher priority. Humanity just had no chance of surviving without the bare essentials, but humanity could not progress without communication. He was in a sense a courier of very very important cargo or he could just be trying to make the absolute best of his very menial task, he couldn’t really decide, but what he did know was that at the end of this he had a nice paycheck which with the task being simply moving scrolls rather nice in his opinion.

Unfortunately at the moment he didn’t really have anything to satiate his need to occupy his time with something other than just the mundane act of walking in a mostly straight line, really only one turn and it was simply a curve. He supposed he would just have to occupy his mental aspects or really just goof off a little bit, his supplies were fulfilled after all, and he couldn’t necessarily make anything more complicated than the shuriken he already made. It was turning out to be something of a bore to be out on this mission.

Mission Subject: A batch of blank scrolls has arrived by shipment to the outer edge of Iwagakure, just outside the gates. The shop owner is sick and cannot receive the shipment, therefore, you must go and pick it up for them and bring it to the shop.
Special Requests: This is to be done solo, there is no need for teams for this mission, just to bring back a bunch of scrolls. If you decide to take even one of the scrolls, you will be declared a criminal and tried as such. I cannot tolerate stealing in my village.

The road was rocky, which was normal for this village perhaps not another, but iwagakure no sato was smack dab in the middle of the land of earth and just like its name: village hidden in the stone it was well rocky every few meters. He had to step every few minutes in a different pattern to avoid an injury, if he stepped wrong then perhaps he would roll his ankle or experience some other potentially combat inhibiting injury, not to mention that he would look like a fool hobbling around or trying to drag a box full of heavy paper scrolls while limping.

He tried to pass a bit of time by thinking of what he would spend his money on once he received his paycheck, he was… set in the least on most items that he could see himself buying, after all he was a human or rather human spider armory machine. He figured he could or rather should buy items that were mechanical or too complex for him to make with his spider gold thread. Perhaps he would buy something that was combustible, such as exploding tags, after all he had strong and durable weapons but he couldn’t make them explode to cover an area of effect.

The paper tag exploding device was however a bit of a downer, once used it was like throwing ryo down the drain, you couldn’t simply salvage them once they exploded, unlike kunai or shuriken which were re-usable even if they grew jagged and hell even if they rusted and grew dull. He had his eye on a shiny new kunai spring, or a senbon launcher, he could make the ammo if he needed to save money to afford them in the first place. But for now he just had to focus on moving some scrolls from the delivery point to their proper recipient.

Pivoting pass a small outcropping of rock that divided the road into two turns, taking the correct one to his destination he found himself adequately satiated with the thought of what to spend his hard earned cash on when he got it. The box came in sight, or at least this time not quite a box but in fact just a large cardboard tube, filled with what he could only assume was a smaller batch of scrolls this time or one really large scroll that looked suited to be a banner or something of the like, he didn’t really know and he didn’t really want to think about it to be perfectly honest.

As long as the job got done he was completely satisfied. Well, he would be completely satisfied when the job was doneand when he got his money which was the important part and the reason why he was going through this whole ordeal. So he made his way up to the tube, it was similar in construction to what they used to store precious oil paintings so that they wouldn’t get smudged, although he wondered why it was in a tube and not a square, he imagined rolling up the paintings might crease them in an unsatisfactory fashion.

He grabbed the tube and hoisted it over his shoulder, stumbling slightly before steadying his feet, now his odyssey of rocks and roads laid between him and the delivery point where he would receive a thank you and sore shoulders. After that he would make his way to the tsuchikage’s tower where he would take his paycheck and proceed home, home to his warm bed where he would sleep the rest of the day away. He deserved a bit of a break in his opinion after all.
