"No I didn't. There hadn't been a single soul from Amegakure that I laid my hands upon during my escape, the chaos from its destruction made sure of that. To me, power was power, really didn't matter what kind, I wasn't specifically searching for anything but I've come across a few things that I don't really feel comfortable sharing. Was it worthwhile, well, I'm content with it thus far so I would say yes. Trust it against the force of an entire village, I wouldn't even try to go against an entire village myself or at all for that matter."

Masuyo answered one question after another as they all squeezed and rushed out of Apollo's parted lips, cutting through Masuyo's forest of lies with an unbelievably sharp edge. Just when he expected for the plethora of questions to end, they merely continued to spill one after another. Immediately processed, Masuyo quickly provided answers without fail.

"Yuu, Yuu Aimery is his name, and yeah, he was proficient in combat, at least the last time we practiced together, however, that was many years ago."

Pausing as Apollo continued, he motioned towards Yuu once more, inquiring about any possibility of him obtaining notoriety of any kind. As much as he hated to admit, Yuu was without a doubt a Kekkai and just like the others, made sure that he didn't exist to the world outside of those who actually knew him. Nevertheless, just as Apollo began to wrap up the last of his words, a sharp man coursed through Masuyo's chest which warranted the motion of his right hand that reached up to press against his chest. Once he cleared his throat, another answer graced Apollo's ears.

"My brother, I've recently come to find that he orchestrated the entire event revolving around my sister. Why, I've yet to find out, but, I just know she isn't his only victim, and more will be added on unless he is stopped. Not only this, piecing it together, I'm sure he aided in the destruction of his own village as well, so that is what he did to betray me. "

Finally, with grounds to do so, Masuyo began his own series of questions intended not just for Apollo, but for Ares as well, presuming he had the decency to listen.

"Well, I would like to know if you've ever come across an orange haired man wearing a bright red coat. With no home, it isn't outlandish that my brother would find a surrogate home to reside in, even if temporary. Lastly, since Amegakure's destruction, I haven't been exactly a person to keep up with current news and events, so, is it possible that you've heard about the return of any minor nations, Amegakure specifically. "

I listened in as my company conversed, My Lord was on the offensive. Shiju's claims seemed to subtly imply that he had no intention of challenging Iwagakure during his initial arrival, an idea I was uncomfortably beginning to come to terms with. Had I jumped the gun in wrangling who I'd hope would be an offender for me to parade before my superior? Though his answers remained somewhat elusive, all of his tales seemed to flesh out evenly whenever he wrapped up. All of it was becoming annoying.

To make matters worse, it appeared that I had captured an ill man. Every so often he would growl the most noxious cough I'd ever heard, one that he braced himself for every time they came around. Each time he let out one of those disgusting, gravely, fluid filled sputters, I felt my resolve buckle against an aggregating rage.

My Lord's proposition to take Shiju to trial became all the more appealing, but rather than give in to this frustration I found myself utilizing one of the many meditative exercises I'd learned from Seidou. Deep deliberate breaths in and out of my nostrils, by way of the glottis, ensured that I kept my composure for the time being; though at this point, my dissatisfaction was beginning to surface through my expression.

When Shiju asked about his lost counterpart, even providing a rough description of his physical appearance, I thought back but unfortunately drew a blank. In truth, I hadn't known the slightest soul from Amegakure as my affairs mostly dealt with places and people less trifling.

"Orange hair, bright red coat," I openly pondered. Could it be... I turned to face my master most convincingly. "The man I discovered in the canyons?" In truth there was no man, at all, but to be mocked so.. insidiously by this.. this vagabond troll, I felt, was enough to warrant my undue behavior. I continued to act as if I'd discovered something, taking my chin between my pointer and thumb to further embellish my ruse.

"I happened to stumble across a man who fits your portrayal, marred and lost inside the canyons of Tsuchi no Kuni. The Gods are never this fortunate, however. I doubt they are one and the same."

''It looks like I'm not the only one who is having their patience tested."

I thought to myself as I glanced over at Ares, the telltale fire in his eyes a welcome sight. But as the boy continued, I made sure to listen closely, picking apart what he said with expert clarity. He was still being vague about his power, something that didn't bode well for a man who was trying to enter a village under the premise of not being a ninja. He could have had to ability to suicide bomb the capital, he could be able to summon hordes of demons, and yet, because he didn't describe it, I had no idea what he had acquired.

''Ares."

I whispered as I approached the man, my red hand resting on his shoulder gently. Giving it a gentle squeeze, I simply nodded and leaned in, my voice quiet as I whispered my next words. ''Conviction, my child. A lesson this man sorely needs." With that, I moved away from the man, leaving me nearly 7 meters away from the boy, a warm smile betraying my thought process. He had no leverage in this situation, having only lied and betrayed my kindness. Foolishness, truly, but such handicaps could be removed; weakened.

''I'm sorry, Shiju. But your answers did not meet my criteria. Do not take this personally, however, you still have a chance for redemption."

Providing him with that grace, I began to pace away, a single eye watching the two as I steadily strutted away.

''Your faith shall be tested, child. And Ares, if he passes, bring him to see me. I have more use for a man of strong faith than a corpse."

With that, I was off.

Masuyo nearly grinned at how Ares acted as though he actually remembered seeing a man that vaguely matched Masuyo's description. Although he hadn't seen his brother since the near destruction of Kami no shima, he'd been quite sure that Yuu hadn't made his way around towards Tsuchi no kuni, let alone Iwagakure itself. He said nothing in return to Ares' claim and in turn focused his sights upon Apollo who the approached Ares with a hand plopped against his shoulder and hushed words. Unable to make anything out, Masuyo merely waited until Apollo's attention returned to him, which, hadn't turned out a response he hadn't been expecting. Apparently, Apollo demanded that the young lad's faith be tested by Ares himself.

Truthfully he would've immediately declined said test, however, considering the situation, he knew he hadn't exactly been in a position to deny anything. Thereafter, Apollo merely strutted away, leaving Ares in full control over Masuyo's test of faith. Feeling that his only faith lied within his own family, the task' and or objectives that the test would entail actually sparked a sliver of interest. With that, another cough escaped his lungs after he cut Ares a glare filled with curiosity and paranoia.

In truth, I never was a good liar. I wasn't brought up to be one and the amused look I received from My Lord seemed to signify that my fib had been debunked, though he didn't explicitly say so. Instead he called out to me, exchanging yet another glance before approaching me to say what he had to. And when his words passed my ears, my head drooped ever so slightly along with my eyelids.

I didn't speak, or even flinch, instead taking a very deliberate breath through my nostrils and out of my mouth. I remained still, feeling his hand move from atop my shoulder as he strode away. And even when his voice bellowed across the crowd, the statements directed at Shiju, I remained still. Even with my eyes closed I could still "see" him and I waited until his presence felt trifling before quickly turning to Shiju.

If he were to look, there was no doubt that my expression would reveal exactly how I'd been feeling since I'd met him.

"I've wasted enough time entertaining your arrogance! This is the moment I've been waiting for! Ready yourself, "Shiju", the time to talk has passed!

I turned to face him fully, spreading my legs shoulder width apart before tilting my neck from side to side; the resultant cracks and pops being uncannily audible given the setting.

Finally, after all that time, Ares' behavior instantly took a turn for the worse as his true nature and intentions were cemented by the expression of anger and impatience that sprawled across his face. Claiming that his time had been wasted, the moment he'd been waiting for for oh so long! The moment Ares' imposing body turned to face Masuyo's own (albeit significantly smaller), he knew that the two were about to engage in some form of combat. While he figured that Ares was undoubtedly strong, just how strong he had been managed to continuously elude him, but fortunately, Masuyo found his answer soon enough.

Once Ares decided to ready himself in what looked to be a rather loose stance, Masuyo followed suit without hesitation, spreading out his legs shoulder length apart with one foot a handful of inches in front of the other. Both arms came to a slight bend while he positioned his right closest to his waist and the left elevated up to his own neck, trembling with fear and excitement. His fist clenched tightly as he spoke his final words before the battle.

". . .Then lets get to it!"

Not even a second after that last syallable left his mouth, a quick jab snapped forward towards the base of Ares' chin, attempting to gauge his reflexes and reaction time. He threw the jab straight from the stance, knowing that without winding for power, it significantly dampened (though not entirely) probability of it being telegraphed. Although that single appendage lunged forward like a snake biting for its prey, the others remained tensed and ready to launch when necessary.

As I looked onward at my prey, I noticed quickly that he had no intention of lengthening the distance between us; instead he opted to fall into his own preferred fighting stance, tossing out his prefight sentiments while he came to ready. At this point I was literally shaking all over, not out of fear, out of anticipation for what I knew would be an irredeemable slaughter! I'd finally get my wish, to string this imbecile's innards across this God-forsaken monument so that the world could realize just what was in store for the rest of our dissenters.

And suddenly there came a hand rocketing in my direction. I'd determined the jab's trajectory and destination fairly early on simply based on human nature and Shiju's own body position. I'd been privy to war long enough to understand when I was being gauged and this was obviously one of those times. Whether it was his arm length, our distances apart, or either of our speeds I wasn't sure of. In truth it made no difference. It was my head he wanted and it was my head he would have.

CRACK!

Just as his vaguely telegraphed strike was launched, so too did I move; I moved to bend forward at the waist to actually meet him halfway with my forehead, ramming it recklessly into his hand in an attempt to maim and insult him all at once. When both of our strikes were retracted, I simply looked down upon him to bellow my laughter in his face.

"Ha..haha..hahahahaha~!"

The sound of colliding flesh and bone snapped through the air as Masuyo's jab successfully connected. Surprisingly, despite landing, the punch still missed its targeted area and instead drove itself into Ares' forehead. But when? The forward movement of Ares' body had been blinding, evident by the fact that his very head met Masuyo's jab halfway out of its extension. Surprised by his speed and remarkably precise timing, Masuyo's aforementioned hand (opposite of his right) sprung into action as his arm and Ares' head retracted. In an uppercutting motion (slightly slanted), Masuyo's hands and fingers opened together, mirroring the shape of an arrows tip. Without so much as a wind up that could've forewarned Ares of the attacks direction of likely travel, the attack carried the potential to appear as though it'd been instantaneous.

Nonetheless, it'd been during the start (midway at the latest) of Ares' laughter that Masuyo planned to have his strike land, driving the 'tip' of his arrow shaped hand into the concavity of his lower neck in attempt to heavily damage (internally) his throat. Presuming everything went on as planned, Masuyo's previously retracted arm gained its bearings, leaving it ready to act equally fast if not faster than its twin.

I felt my head successfully meet with his closed fist, immediately pulling myself back to laugh inconsiderately. I was in the middle of battle, after all, this was no time to be toying around-- that's how most people thought. The cowardly individuals who had no idea that warfare, and conflict in general, was as much a part of life as any. To be comfortable enough under stress to calculate and precisely time an assault, contrary to your target's wishes; this was my milieu. I found no better comfort outside of being coddled by the chaos of battle.

And as it appeared, my disrespect had seemed to light a fire under the generally stoic Shiju. His hand shot forth almost immediately after I'd reverted my torso to it's original position. The way that he delivered strikes stood out immensely from the meager portrayal he'd put on before. As his hand darted forward, cusped to ensure a debilitating strike was landed, I watched intently and moved accordingly.

Leaning backward to provide myself just enough room to smash Shiju's hand between my chest and chin. My aim had been to crush his fingers and, hopefully, cripple him in the process. The look in my eye was still as hawking as it'd ever been, almost peering through him with an offsetting lunacy commanding my expression.

Had that occurred, I would extend my arm outward to shove Shiju backward slightly by the face -- another blatant act of disrespect.

1. Byakugan [Low x3]

As the fires of battle ignited within Masuyo and began to burn with tenacity, his attacks incessantly evolved in both power and deadliness. Unfortunately, the gradual evolution in his combative prowess seemed ineffective against Ares' body of solid muscle. He needed a way to break through Ares' defenses, and fast! Alas, considering the situation, Masuyo had little to no time to dwell on such things and instead needed to solely rely on the fundamentals of his training and raw instincts. Luckily, all hope hadn't been lost, not just then; the moment when Masuyo's fingers were caught and lightly smashed between Ares' neck and chin, Ares decided to reach down (difference in height) and grab for Masuyo's face.

In that decisive moment when Ares' full hand reached out, the Sennin's free arm (left) traveled heavenwards with a swift, counter clockwise, chop-like block to the bottomside (joint) of Ares' wrist with his forearm in attempt to have it bend inwardly against his will.

Considering that Ares' movements had practically been written in stone, it'd been safe to say that the strike to Ares' wrist would've easily redirected his arm above and to the left of Masuyo's head, avoiding his opponents hand-to-face grip altogether.. Luckily, in the same motion, his free hand whipped around with an open palm where it rocketed straight up towards Ares' nose. When taking their difference in height into consideration, Masuyo's own height had been ideal for a down-to-up, palm strike to the bottom most area of Ares' nostrils which could've easily been enough to free his hand from Ares' neck vice..

"This guy is unbelievably strong and skilled. I've got to be careful."

When his fingers became trapped beneath my chin, my eyes widened in anticipation for what I had in store. My hand darted forward in attempt to swat away the annoying insect but, to my surprise, I found that Shiju had other things in store. As I'd noted earlier, the charade that he played, that of a harmless wanderer, had been abandoned for a more combative persona. I felt his hand collide with my own, cracking at joint in my hand that sent it careening off trajectory.

And in an instant, his free hand took off in my direction. I imagined he felt this would be his saving grace, and it may have been if he were dealing with someone of cheaper stock, however, my taijutsu was the penultimate of martial arts and it would not falter before such insolence! In truth, I had witnessed his assault coming forth shortly after it was launched. What may have been an instant for some seemed like an eternity through my eyes; my reaction would be a testament to this.

As Shiju's own arm shot forward, in an attempt to claim my visage, so would my own free left hand direct itself to his much more accessible torso. My ability to direct chakra to whatever region of my body was nothing short of phenomenal, and Shiju would learn first hand what it meant to meddle in the affairs of Gods.

The power that converged to my extremity would blast forth in one clamorous eruption, aimed at the solar plexus, intended to jolt his body's internal mainframe whilst sending him flying backward.¹ Given our proximity to the statue, had I succeeded, my counter would have interrupted his own just inches before his hand reached my face to send him flying into the monument.

Range: 0 - 10 meters.

Special: The column of chakra sent forward is roughly two meters tall and one meters wide, and has enough force to lift a grown man clean off his feet and throw them several (five) meters back. When used at close range, the force can easily knock the breath out of their victim and leave them dazed.
Description: Once the Hyuuga understands the art of summoning energy all at once into a single, fine strike, they are able to execute with the same precision, but from a distance. Extending chakra from their body, the Hyuuga will thrust their palm at the target, sending out an vicious wave of wind that can knock the opponent back greatly.

"Tch! So close!"

Masuyo thought to himself as his head involuntarily whipped forward as his body folded after having been uprooted from the ground itself with an implausibly powerful attack that struck his solar plexus. The strike itself did a number of his torso, so, having his solar plexus intentionally targeted added insult to injury without a doubt. A compact mass of blood and saliva rocketed out from inside Masuyo's throat and lungs as he virulently flew backwards and into the very monument the group observed a few moments ago. As his body collided with the moment, the force behind Ares' strike showed no mercy, enough so that it sent Masuyo through the monument as it shattered just as easily as glass against concrete.

"Damnit he's fast, for sure, but the way he strikes. . .its as though he's breaking apart and deeply anticipating my every move! It has to be those eyes of his."

A minuscule mushroom cloud of gray dust billowed into the air, briefly concealing Masuyo's body. Silence prevailed as the dust continued to linger, unfortunately, where Masuyo thought that he had a moment to conceal his movements, Ares looked on with unwavering focus. Nevertheless, presuming his vulnerable state hadn't been capitalized upon, a quick-second flare of chakra roared within as his body and channeled itself into his right arm. Meanwhile, that same right arm reached up towards the opposite shoulder and not even a second later had Masuyo swung (wide left-to-right) the appendage back around, leaving a powerful 180^o force of wind in its wake. Rushing forward at roughly 15 meters per second, the current attempted to uproot Ares from his position and launch him further from Masuyo's position.

As a bonus, the rush of wind knocked away the cloud of dust and other dirt and debris in the general area, which , ultimately allowed Masuyo to view the after math of his attack. While not foolish enough to just remain there, the moment his attack beckoned forth had he raised up to his feet while momentarily rubbing his stomach and regaining his breathing.

Description: With the user’s weapon in hand or their limb extended, they will channel chakra across it so that when the weapon or limb is swung, a strong wind current comes forth. This current, although not heavy enough to do any threatening damage, can in fact knock opponents over, as well as severe loose sediment across the ground, bring up dust and whatever else lies on the floor. Useful for creating vision inhibiting storms, knocking people off balance, covering one’s tracks, escaping, and many, many more!

I stood stll, proudly admiring my work as the boy's lithe frame went crashing into the monument, it's integrity tried and ultimately proven feeble. I had barely used any of my power to toss the boy away from me and, when he collided with the object, it exploded into thousands of pieces.

Worthless, I arrogantly mused with a haughty smirk overtaking my expression.

Dust and debris soon swarmed the area and, for most, I assumed it would've been harder to see. I, however, remained staunchly honed in on my target whose tepid movements seemed to signal that he was injured. Perhaps I gave him too much credit? A casual stride would bring me closer and closer to the downed Shiju; it was time for me to end this so that I could proceed with what was in store.

What was that?!

Shiju's chakra flickered a cool teal aura I'd learned to associate with the Fuuton chakra nature, and in one swift movement his arm ripped through the air as if he struck at nothing. I was unimpressed, that is, until I watched the area before me become completely infested with this cool teal aura.

No handseals?! I had no time to react and felt myself falling victim to the force of his arm's movement. It had propelled enough wind in my direction to force me to lean my weight against it, but even that wasn't enough. I, along with various bystanders, got upswept by the gale Shiju created.

It's power was ridiculous, completely lifting me and the others from the crowd to send us almost 100 feet backward (30 meters)! Screams flooded the area and those without the stature of shinobi may have been severely injured depending on the circumstances. I, myself, collided with quite a few people along the way; they served to cushion my inevitable fall. The unrelenting glide was hell but the landing was even less graceful, eventually leaving me to crash against the ground and sliding across my back until the momentum ceased.

And in an instant I felt my anger ebulliate; brows bowed down while my jaw clinched to expose my teeth in a wrathful grimace.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

I placed my hand against the various fallen individuals comprising the human heap Shiju created so that I could regain my bearing, standing at full attention. My apparel had been severely tattered but ire forced any care about it into a tiertary position at the back of my mind. Ironically enough I lifted a hand to loosen the tie around my neck so that I could get more comfortable but, for all intents and purpose, it was simply going through the motions of frustration.

"I WANT YOU TO BE MORE SERIOUS! OR ARE YOU SERIOUS AND THIS IS ALL YOU HAVE?!"

Once he raised to his feet and noticed the result of his abrupt, fuuton based attack, Masuyo watched as Ares (among others) helplessly revolved and tumbled further away. While his intentions hadn't been to readily harm the innocent civilians of the city, he knew that the attack hadn't been enough to cause any regrettable casualties. Nevertheless, as the pain that swam around his torso began to subside, his hands sprung into action and merged as they glided through a series of hand-seals with a speedy gait. By the time Ares stopped thirty meters away attempting to get up to his feet, Masuyo sunk towards the earth with a low crouch as two open palms slammed into the ground. Funnily enough, while inside if Iwagakure, a land of endless rock and earth, Masuyo mastered its element and displayed that mastery in full.

He used Ares' position as the center of his impending attack, evident by the tremor's of earth that began to sprawl across the land beneath Ares as he continued to mock Masuyo's prowess. In the middle of Ares' spiel had the earth around him broke apart as walls raised up into the air from all sides and arced 15 meters above Ares, all meeting in the aforementioned center. Having used Ares as its center, the dome's walls that surrounded him (presuming it was successful) had been 15 meters away. While Masuyo knew that Doton's earth dome technique had been invented for defensive purposes. Considering the strength of his own earth dome, he knew it'd have taken a ample amount of power and chakra to break through, even from the inside.

"That should hold him off for a few seconds. Buy me some time. And of course I'm not serious you idiot, I never really wanted to fight in the first place."

He said, speaking to himself as his hands merged together once more to create a single hand-seal.

Description: The basis behind the majority of Doton techniques lie in the user's ability to control the very earth around them. Once this link is achieved, the door is opened for greater creations to be made.

Special: Size and range of dome depends on the user's 'Doton Ryouuken' rank. Dome defense is determined by the user's 'Doton Ryouuken' and can withstand up to one strike from the outside, plus one more each time retrained. However, after every third retraining, consumption will go up by one. Strikes to the dome made from within are stronger, meaning it takes strikes one rank less than the user's highest 'Doton Ryouuken' in order to break free.
Description: This advanced Doton ninjutsu acts as its name implies – it facilitates the user creating a prison around their victims, comprised of pure dirt. After forming the necessary handseals and striking the ground with their hands, the user is able to overturn the earth and cause it to rise up around their opponents. As long as they keep their hands on it and feed it chakra, the prison can withstand most attempts to break free from within. As a bonus, if the user knows of any chakra absorbing techniques, they may place their hands against the dome, sucking out the chakra from the people trapped inside and bring it back into one’s own body, as well as combine it with his own in order to spread throughout the dome, allowing the user to repair any damage their opponents manage to inflict on the inside.

Shiju's true colors were flaring; it appeared that he didn't care for the welfare of any of bystander subject to his offensive. As I spoke I could feel the ground tremor beneath me, the amber flicker of Doton natured chakra permeated a very wide range of every around me, nearly 15 meters worth, an incredible feat for someone who professed to be merely a "traveler". It seemed that my earlier assessment was right all along, this man was a liar and the longer I recognized his presence the more pissed off I got.

Soon afterward the land that the lot of individuals and I stood on, still warding off the effects of Shiju's indiscriminate Fuuton attack, was immediately raised in what appeared to be a perfect circle. The pervasive light of the sun that encompassed the area began slowly fading away. I'd take this opportunity to begin stringing my own set of seals together¹ until all I could see was an unsettling dimness. Shiju was no longer in my direct line of sight but I still saw his every moment, his chakra being the beacon that allowed him to stand out so easily.

Panicked cries of those entombed with me only served to feed my desire to kill the worthless insect ahead of me. The fire within me would be externalized and given life some distance away from myself (40 meters), but uncomfortably close to Shiju.²
