Rebuilding [mission]

[Ito Aki]

Aki had been a bit surprised at the mission Ro chose when she'd read it while correcting there request form. She'd figured he'd try and sign up for B at least and get them all yelled at but it turned out he'd made a reasonable choice. A little physical labor never hurt anyone though she was a bit concerned about Uekyuuchi. As a physician his hands were valuable and if he harmed them doing such base work she'd feel terrible about it. At the same time she wasn't about to tell him what to do.

"Uhm...This is my house. Hang on a minute, I'll be right back. Please excuse me." Aki said then darted into the main entrance of the two story building. It had been stripped of most decoration but the outside retained the general feeling of the small clan palace that it had once been though the sign over the entrance declared its dual nature as a special tutoring facility.

Running full tilt Aki skidded to a stop in front of one of the supply rooms then dove in. She knew where what she needed was and after a moment had several sets of leather work gloves. They would hopefully help keep Uekyuuchi's hands out of harms way and if she wore them and brought enough for everyone he wouldn't have cause to feel singled out. Dashing back out she stopped up short and offered the gloves out to them, her own pair already on her hands.

"Here." She said then started walking at a quick clip toward the store house nearest to them, trying to keep in front. She liked to do things for others but had difficulty when it came to the part that came after. She was awkward at best accepting thanks and worse with rejection.

Bun-Ka Ro walked separate, by himself, as his other two teammates insisted on walking alongside each other. He was not much of a social guy but he figured if he were to be teaming with them he should at least get to know them, intellectually. His voice almost winced after pushing out the first word; he put a lot of emphasis on it, he really did.

He let the question ride out slowly at a calmer pace. It was getting into the evening and his mind had calmed down just enough for him to relax finally. Ito Aki insisted she stop at her house. Bun-Ka Ro felt rather disturbed by this. He was not used to stopping frequently but he felt it better he get used to it. She brought him and the dr. guy some gloves, boy were they lucky. Free gloves.

Menial labor seemed like a break from what he considered to be one of the hardest jobs on the planet so town restoration, he thought, seemed more like a civic duty than an actual mission. He and Ito continued on beside each other with Ban-Ku trailing behind them toward the domestic side of town. When Ito requested that they stop for the moment he obliged but made no attempt to even face the direction of Ban-Ku. That was when the shinobi's inquiry crept over his shoulder. "Hm?" Ban-Ku's initial stammer revealed that he was forcing himself to do something he wasn't exactly comfortable with. He made it apparent during their first couple of encounters that he was not the sociable type but now it appeared he was willing to put his own inconveniences aside in order to amend the bonds that were potentially severed. Uekyuuchi faced about and genially responded as if a problem had never existed between the two. "Well", he laughed. "Down at the hospital we try our best to make sure if they come in half-dead we can send them home alive." When Ito finally reemerged from her home she brought gifts with her, leather gloves to ensure none of their hands were damaged during the reconstruction project. Ue wasted no time putting them on, smiling as Ito gaited ahead of them before a word of thanks could be given. He could feel a change of heart encroaching about the entire situation and fathomed that this could be the start of something magnificent. That was when he noticed Ito was beginning to distance herself from them. Before he got too wound up in this own thoughts he began following her at a leisurely pace, observing the scenery— or what was left of it.

[Ito Aki]

“I’ll got get our work order.” Once they reached the warehouse Aki went directly to the manager’s office and handed the team’s mission scroll into the secretary who gave her a work order and a signature on the scroll in. A parcel of 2x4’s and 120lbs of concrete was a fairly light load all things considered but there was distance involved as well so it was a reasonable amount of work for the mission grade. She commandeered a wheelbarrow with a properly inflated front tire on her way back to her team and held the work order out so they could take it for inspection if they liked.

“Dr.Kikkawa it’s probably best that Ro and I carry the 2x4’s since were closer in height.” She said as she went to load the wheelbarrow. At 5’5 to his damn tall she and Ro were closer so there wouldn’t be as much of disparity in the work load between them. She was used to heavy lift as the mats at the school were not light by any stretch of the imagination and like all of her siblings she helped out with just about everything needed to keep it running properly.

“And Ro, I’ll take the front.” She added, not trusting him an inch to go about handling the steering and set a proper speed. It wasn’t her intention to rub his face in the fact though. He’d annoyed her but she wasn’t much of one for petty grudges. She was just trying to distribute the labor in the most reasonable manner as she saw it.

The sound of machines and men yelling filled the streets rather wildly as the team of three neared the warehouse. Bun-Ka Ro wasted no time. This were his first mission and he’d felt as if it were the most important. Ito assisted on him not driving. ‘bleh…’ he responded in occurrence, moping around to the pile of 2 x 4’s. The job, to be honest, would go by much quicker if Ro insisted on flying the 2 x 4’s to the nearest construction spot they’d need. He just didn’t feel like showing off so he’d begun his manual labor just as the kikkawa had to.

As his red optics leered amongst the working environment he could spot the various many head bands that were in the building. They were not the only ninja forcing manual labor in order to reconstruct the village which had been decadent so many years. The feeling had changed the way he’d thought of some of them instantly though it were unlike Bun-Ka Ro to hold onto petty thoughts for too long. His attention would pursue its course towards the doctor, he’d almost forgotten he asked him a question earlier.

His words were a little stammered as he lifted the 2 x 4’s up off the pile, re-assuring them along the machine that Ito had forced him not to drive.

Wasting no time, he dropped to a knee in order to scoop one of the bags up. It was then tossed comfortably over his shoulder, held in place by the adjacent hand. Before he would move to accompany the others, however, he motioned to bring another bag of concrete into his possession. There he was no need to make any unnecessary trips back and forth if it could be avoided, he thought to himself while standing— both shoulders occupied with bags of concrete. When he'd finally began to follow the others, Ban-Ku's inquiry crept through the air. It seemed that, like Ito, he'd taken a liking to the good doctor as well. His frigid exterior was slowly but surely beginning to fracture under Uekyuuchi's warmth. "Not entirely true. Cadavers are an important research tool for those of us in the medical field. They allow us to witness, first hand, the human body and all of it's components. "But yes, if they come in alive we try our best to keep them that way." He made sure he spoke loud enough for Ito to hear, in the event she wanted to provide her input. "But enough about me," he diverted. "I'm very interested in hearing your story, Ban-Ku. It's apparent that you're skilled in the ninja arts, may I ask why you chose this type of lifestyle?" He'd be a liar if he said it didn't fit him— the young man seemed bred for combat, a disheartening judgment to force on someone as far as Ue was concerned. He hated the way things operated in this world, comprised solely on the idea that sovereignty would be taken by those who had the power to do so. This place had been cruel, selfish, and devouring for as long as he'd known it. Nearly every educational institute operated under military jurisdiction and children were being taught, at a young age, that sacrificing their lives in the name of patriotism was the most honorable duty they could fulfill. Murder was justifiable by law and people were being raised to carry on the archaic ideologies of their predecessors for nothing short of a pat on the back by their ostensible leaders. It relieved him to know that, for the time being, he could be there to ensure that these children were not immolating themselves in the flames of war, for the sake of tradition.

Rather then but in just then Aki held her tongue though she didn't exactly like what Ro was saying. Her mother had always taught her to leave the male half of the species to there own devices when it came to establishing hierarchy and bonding. She'd only speak up if it got out of hand or interfered with what they had to do. Given that it was walk some supplies about a mile down the road she didn't expect much cause for her to intervene to crop up though.

Taking up her end of the lumber she lifted with her knees and maintained proper posture. Burdened as she was she spared a glance at Uekyuuchi to make sure he wasn't doing anything that might get him hurt over the long haul. It was instinctive on her part as one of the older children in her family and she'd have done the same with regard to Ro save that he was to be behind her and well beyond her peripheral vision.

The shikigami blanked for a second as the doctor talked to him. A siren seemed to separate his thoughts from anything else altogether. Ro was not ignorant to his selective hearing so he simply read lips to refrain from an awkward conversation. Meanwhile, his hands laid forth in thrusting manner as he walked forward.

Two small pieces of paper welded about 5 meters apart from his front and from each other molded slowly at first. As it progressed it began to spin wildly in random circulation and soon had begun to crumple up as plethora’s more of paper gathered to cultivate a shape within the arts of origami, two paper cranes.

They were about the size of four human’s altogether but could easily fit more. Ro simply placed bags upon its back until he’d felt they were a good enough weight, finally responding to the doctor after seeing Ito unresponsive.

“oh yeah. Only if.. you come with me, you can use that second crane. We’ll fly. You coming Ito? “

Ban-ku stepped upon the crane softly, touching his creation as if it were his own child. His eyes darted to a cloud as his chakra channeled upward. The paper crane lifted just as the second [if you chose to get into it] and flew slowly to its destination.

He found the notion to be rather queer, and had it not been for the boy's cryptic nature his willingness to oblige would have been ampler but something about the offer just seemed— odd. A brow hoisted skyward while he observed the vehicles' construction, such an impressive display of chakra control was commendable indeed but rather than situate himself into it's confines he did the next best thing. Both bags of cement that straddled his shoulder were placed carefully atop the cranes before he made his way back toward the area where more bags were stationed, taking them into his possession before setting them atop the carrier as well. Then, turning toward Ban-Ku, he congenially smiled. "This is amazing! Transporting the materials this way will make the task much simpler! Thank you, Ban-Ku! Unfortunately high places have never been my favorite environment so I'll just walk and meet you there." Whether or not Ito did the same was out of his control. Had she entered the vehicle, he would continue until they rendezvoused at their destination.

(guys, there is no car or other vehicle. I meant that aki and ro would carry the wood on their shoulders. Aki would just be the one in front setting the pace and steering.)

"It would be better if we did this ourselves." Aki said hesitantly. Really she wanted to flat out say no and make Ro carry his end of the 2x4's so they could get go but she hesitated. She'd been hard on Ro and if she just carried on like she usually did she was liable to actually do harm where she didn't intend it.

"Look, thats a good jutsu. You shouldn't use it for something like this. If you do...." Years of private training at her families school and from friends of her mother loomed large and tied her tongue for a moment. She wasn't used to trying to articulate what was as natural as breathing to her.

"You keep hopping around and insisting we go fast." Her earlier thoughts on how to scold him for his behavior in the Kage's tower came back to her and gave her thoughts focus. She wasn’t just rehashing her earlier plan though; this had a rather different purpose.

"But that doesn’t matter, you need to slow down and do things like this the mundane way. You can’t rely on jutsu or your ability deal all the time. Even if you can use it that much you shouldn't. You'll come to rely on it and your mind and other abilities will atrophy." He was also letting the kami’s and everyone else see him do it which was also not a good idea unless he intended to enter a support division. Beyond just the fact that he was giving away one of his abilities there was also the fact that as it was made of paper that apparently came from him it begged the question of how flammable he was.

Ban-Ku took that as a no. To him, her skeptic thought of not using your talents for the purposes of increasing flow deemed unworthy of debate. The shikigami simply threw the thought out and smiled as his doctor friend refused to get upon the crane. Not all were fairly comfortable with the way it worked but it did not bother the genin. His goggles soon became veils to his hues.

A flash of wind concurred swiftly behind the paper cranes as he distanced himself from his two teammates. The actual setting place were about 30 yards up the road so they had a good walk ahead of them. As his devices neared the equipments' rendezvous point the creations of paper halted themselves and posted along the ground. He'd soon begin to unpack it and await for his teammates.

Ban-Ku thought of asking them again as they reached him. Maybe they'd changed their mind. Using your talents was all he'd known to do, and it'd always got the job done... so it would take more than words to show him otherwise.

Still he took no time to intervene for the sake of Ban-Ku, darting a penetrating leer toward his subordinate before speaking himself. "You are out of line, Ito." He seldom showed this type of passion for anything other than his work but when the moment called for his intervention, if it was appropriate, he would let himself be heard. He didn't bother to elaborate further, the manner he had address her in should have been enough to get his message across. Aside from her position as a Genin, and the aptitude she displayed by being a hard worker, she was a child and would be treated as such until her maturity overshadowed her crudeness. He march toward their destination continued and, with all of the supplies he was required to carry being transported by Ban-Ku, there was nothing else for him to do. Turning an eye toward Ito, he noticed her workload and considered offering his assistance but he was sure she would turn it down. She was headstrong and adamant, all traits of a reputable leader, but her desire to exercise these traits would work against her in the future if she ever aspired to be the village's Tsuchikage. Whether this was her goal or not, she definitely had the potential. "Do you need any help with that," he inquired. He didn't know what to expect but whatever he received would answer some of the questions permeating his attention.

Chastised and ignored. The two were common enough reactions and Aki didn't even consider answering back. She'd meant what she'd said even if she hadn't really expressed it well. Her gait stiffened slightly but aside from that there wasn't much of a change in her physical demeanor. Inwardly though she retracted, bracing herself against further censor. The only outward evidence that she'd heard Uekyuuchi was a slight nod of the head when he spoke to her the first time to ward her off of speaking further.

"Yes, thank you Sir." Her tone wasn't much different then it had been when they first met, cool but not cold or unfriendly really, just a little nervous. She could handle the load she was carrying without much difficulty but it would be safer to distribute the load between two people due to its unwieldy size.

Waiting for Uekyuuchi to take up his end she didn’t speak or look over at him in an attempt to get him to. She was used to be shut down and did not expect it would yield any sort of worth while result to try and explain more clearly. She could elaborate on what she meant until she was blue in the face and would not grow any more eloquent in the process or kinder in her wording. It was not a rare occurrence for people to refuse to speak to her ever again or even start an outright fight after one of her less successful attempts to be helpful.

It never uplifted him to belittle another individual, in fact it did the exact opposite because he knew the repercussions of such action. It caused others to become repressive and cold, which was especially counterproductive when your objective was getting to know someone. As she slowed herself, Ue leisurely approached before taking some of the contents she toted into his possession. He then hoisted them up to his shoulders, securing them with a taut grasp of the hand and a little pressure against their platform. The doctor had been observing the two of them rather closely ever since they'd first introduced themselves. Some conclusions he'd drawn were scrapped in favor of others but he felt the information he had acquired was rather reliable, centering mainly around their demeanors. Pondering such things aroused his desire to speak. If there were any avenues to be amended between the two of them, he intended to do so concisely. "You know you shouldn't be so hard on Ban-Ku." "He's really trying his best to appease us. He only wanted to help with that technique."

Under her mask Aki frowned slightly, unsure of what exactly she was supposed to say. An apology would probably end the conversation in her favor but she wasn't a liar by inclination or training. Her mother had always treated gile as a natural resource, something to be cultivated when found but not something to be created.

Adjusting her grip she used one arm to secure the boards and a hand on the end to make sure they didn't slide any due to the height difference. It would put less pressure on Uekyuuchi to to just hold his end up and steady rather then have to hold it still too.

"Normal paper burns at 451 or so depending on treatment. So fire would probably be the knee jerk reaction but water would be the more reasonable option since that kind of heat is dangerous for the user too. Spray him so he cant produce any to manipulate or bog down his constructs." Aki hadn't been looking Ro over specifically for weaknesses. She was more or less just rattling off the general observations she'd made. She couldn't explain her thoughts very well but if she just let Uekyuuchi know how she though maybe he'd figure it out on his own. That worked sometimes with her siblings though they tended to know what she meant even without explanation.

"Energetic, not given over much to coordination though. I'd wait until he separated from his group and ambush him. Probably try to set the ambush near water, lure him with something non-threatening like dropped money. Give him a small window so he thinks he can use a jutsu when I spring the attack to tie up his hands but hit him with Taijutsu before the completion, knock him into a small body of water preferably." It wasn't much of a plan but off the cuff it fit what she'd seen of him. The point was more about the fact that he was giving her information enough to formulate any sort of plan with tailored elements.

"And I'm not even interested in fighting him. I think he's nice. I'm just saying I see what I see and its not good to show so much. Fuck, I mean my mom would have me running laps for doing that. That kind of stuff ends in funerals." Laps carrying full buckets of water. Aki was so distraught by having to talk as much as she was that she didn't even notice that she'd cursed which was an unusual lapse. Normally she used them only with full understand of her actions.
