With the poor deer all patched up and ready to venture back into the exciting but dangerous life it lead, the ranger who had healed it was off on his way. He had done his job, and Atlas was relieved to know that the horned animal would be okay. His own inability to help it in a medical way had put the fear of Kami in him, the fear that he would become crippled with the guilt that came with such uselessness. Smiling, a confident expression suddenly came across his face. He would train, thought, wouldn't he? He would get better, for everyone. All he needed was the effort and his own willpower to do so. In due time, he would even garner the power to save lives. Question was- how soon would that power arrive? He could only wait in anticipation, using his patience as the key.
Standing over the recently healed animal, the Chuunin watched with interest as it began to move its legs, the injured appendage twitching in response. It was trying to get up, it was ready to test its strength once more. Taking a few steps back, gesturing for Yukiko to follow him with a wave of his hand, the Akegarasu would position himself meters away from the horned stag. "He's getting up now, sis." He would mutter, a gleam in his eye as the situation unfolded in front of him. "Give 'im some room. It might get a bit irritated with our presence, and I can't risk it striking at you with those antlers." And just as he had said that, the animal swung its head upwards with its dangerous appendages, using its weight to stagger to its hooves. It did so weakly, but with great effort.
When the moment came, the stag had managed to rise on all four of its hoofed feet. The injured leg, of course, was injured to the point of it limping under his weight. But overall, the ranger had done a swell job. The stag reared its head to stare at the young female human and her senpai for a moment. Then it turned away, swinging its antlers in the direction it sought to tread, then trotting off towards the pine forest afar. Hopefully, its injury would not put it into any severe situations in the weeks to come. Hopefully, it would learn to live with such a disability until its injury was all healed up. Until then, Atlas could only hope the wound, that had been caused by his own species, did not become the cause for the creature's death. Surely, however, it would live on.
His emerald green gaze watched as it gradually disappeared over the horizon of the pine forest. When it was gone from view, the Chuunin sighed contently. "C'mon, kiddo. Let's continue heading home, hm?" Smiling at his younger companion, Atlas would turn towards the path they had been taking earlier and continue on with the trek they had been making. The sun was still high up in the sky, they had quite a long time before the night came and overtook the setting. The crunch of dead leaves under his boot reached his ears as he walked. He wondered how soon they would arrive to their beloved village, how soon they would begin their training once they got there. So much things to do, so much possibilities!
