Helping the orphans! [Mission, Estilo, closed]

[Yuki-chan]

"Y'know, you might actually need some help moving the last of your things out of here. I understand that the daimyo is sending a carriage here in the afternoon as well. Would you like some help packaging and loading up the last of these boxes, miss?" inquired the male as he looked towards the younger female with a smile on his face.
She bit her lip a little; she was not as strong as he was physically. But the older woman would probably appreciate some help with the boxes that had arrived.

"Is that alright with you, kiddo? I figured we could divide our work force for the time being. Plus, looks like Rieko here could use a bit of help. And if you're willing..." continued Atlas.
"It would be greatly appreciated. I'm having some of the older children help me as well, so you'll be kept in company" replied Rieko with a thankful look at her face.

"There we go! Sounds like a plan. Now, if you'll excuse me ladies, I'll head out to buy those sheets now. Shouldn't take me longer than an hour, maybe an hour and a half." said the young man as he exited the large mansion.
"All of the boxes are in the kitchen at the moment; we don't have that many left fortunately" informed the female as they went towards the kitchen.

"Kami...this is probably the largest kitchen I have seen" muttered Yukiko as they entered the kitchen. There were two large refridgerators that also had a freezer section at the bottom. She noticed that some of the cupboards had a lock on them; they probably contained stuff that could be poisonous.
Two dishwater machines were at the end, which was where a stable of boxes were located. "We have taken care of the fragile things...we just need to get these sorted out right" stated the brunette as she looked at the boxes.

Some of the boxes were labelled 'Books 7-9' or 'Manga (boys)' while others were marked 'Photographs'. "I heard you needed some help Rieko" said a voice from the door. The girl turned around and saw a female who appeared to be on her age.
She had red hair braided into two pigtails, milky white skin with freckles paired with a set of royal blue eyes. "Yes Minako-chan. This is Yukiko-san...you two will work together today" informed the young woman.

"Haven't you hired some shinobis to help us out Rieko?" inquired the girl with a slightly confused look at her face.
"I am a low-ranked shinobi. I'm actually turning 11 tomorrow" informed the Genin as she pointed at the headband that she used as a hairband. "Really!? I'm turning 10 tomorrow!" exclaimed the redhead with wide eyes.

"Now girls. Could you please carry all the boxes labeled 'manga' and 'books' into the library? I would like the books for the youngest children to be at the bottom shelves while the ones for older kids can be higher up" informed Rieko.
"Yes Rieko-san" replied the younger female as she picked up a box that was labeled with 'Toddler books'. The girl grabbed a similar box before they both went into a room labeled 'Library'.

"Are there lots of low-ranked shinobis at your age Yukiko-san?" inquired the female as they opened the boxes. "Not really...most people are 11 or 12 when they graduate from the Academy. But I won't be able to become a middle-ranked shinobi until I'm 14-16 or so" replied the brunette as she put some books into the bookshelf.
"May I ask why you are at the orphanage Minako-san?" asked the girl as she looked at the redhead. "According to what Rieko told me, both of my parents were killed by some yakuza people when I was three years old" answered the female.

My haste eventually got me to the closest retail store in the area, a locale called 'Tyson's'. It had only taken me a matter of minutes, and with all the time I had, I would promptly stride through the automatic glass doors of the establishment. It was massive. And although I had a presumption that it was from seeing it on the outside, I couldn't believe the sheer magnitude of space in the interior. It was almost a warehouse, stocked with all sorts of supplies, some of them even reaching to the ceiling high above. Needless to say, finding the bedsheets here would prove to be something of a time-consuming challenge.

So instead of priding myself on my confidence, and losing myself within the long corridors of the enormous store, I made my way towards the closest employee available. A man in a red blazer, well into his forties, mopping up a soda spill one of the laughing kids afar had surely caused. I approached him with a smile, sorry for taking this split-moment of time from his duties. "Excuse me. I'm looking for the aisle with bedsheets. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction." The man stopped mopping, thought for a second, and I waited. Seemed he was having trouble recalling on his own.

"Well, lemme think here... I think its aisle fifty-three, if I'm not mistaken. Yeaaah," He continued, as if recalling a crucial piece of information. "Start at aisle fifty-three, and if that ain't it, keep working your way upwards. You're bound to find it."

I nodded, a gracious smile, although in the back of mind I hoped this older man wasn't leading me astray. He seemed pretty confused about it, after all. "Thank you, sir. I'll be on my way now." The rap of my boots across the glossy white floor rang throughout the somewhat crowded establishment as I moved on, headed straight for aisle fifty-three. I passed bickering families, old women on motorized scooter mobiles, a band of college kids loading up on chips, dip and alcohol.

To be honest, I'd never entered a store of this magnitude before. Seeing all these people, all these items, all these deals made me realize that Kami no Shima was as industrial as it was a party-city. I had mixed feelings about stores like these, however. I'd heard that they had a tendency to push smaller businesses out of the area. I could only imagine what one of these would do to Kumogakure, and whether I would step in or not. Then finally. Aisle fifty-three. To my glee, there were bedsheets there. A whole long and wide corridor of them!

Sighing briefly, I took out my shopping list.

[Yuki-chan]

"Had no idea that you guys had so many books" stated the female in slight astonishment as she opened up the second cardboard box with books. "Well, we are thirty children in this place after all. And not all of us have the same reading skills or favourite type of book" replied the girl as she picked up two books.
They had sorted out all the baby books and were about to start on the toddler books. Some of these books were brand new while others appeared to be more worn-down.

"Do you have many books left Minako-san?" inquired Yukiko as she picked up two books about a clown who lived on an island. "Let me check" muttered Minako as she looked down in the box. "I have...eight books left" replied the female as she looked up.
"I only have four left, so I can help you a little if you want" suggested the girl. Her partner nodded as they continued to stack the books into the shelves.

'Kinda boring that we still have three more boxes to sort out. But at least we're getting into the rhytm now' thought the Genin as she placed her last books into the shelf. She then moved over to help the orphan.
"Yukiko-san...do you have any siblings?" asked the girl as she placed two pop-up books into the shelf. "Yeah, I have two younger twin brothers" replied the female with a smile.

"Must be busy. I have enough with just one brother" sighed the redhead as she picked up her last book. "You do!?" exclaimed the brunette in slight shock.
"Yup, my younger brother is named Hiroki. He has bright red hair, blue eyes and he's 7 years old" informed the female with a big smile.

'Wait a second! I measured someone who was named Hiroki earlier today' thought the girl as she spaced out a little bit. "Can you help me with sorting out the tankobons in this box please?" inquired the 9-year old.
"Sure" said the 10-year old as she went over to help the younger girl. There were numerous manga books there for boys; some of them looked quite familiar.

"Finally some smaller books" muttered the girl as she picked up four books in one go. "Yeah, it won't take so long to sort these. But I think we have to sort them after volume" informed the female as she picked up three volumes of the manga Two Piece.
It appeared that Minako had taken the fourth to seventh volumes while Yukiko had the three first ones. "Here we go" muttered the girl as she placed the three volumes in the shelf.

Her partner placed the other four in right afterwards before they moved on in the collection. "I can take the last four volumes while you start on Dragon Orb" suggested the female. "Sounds good to me" replied the older female as her partner took three more tankobons out of the box.
She picked up the three first volumes of Dragon Orb and went over to the shelf. 'Only two more boxes to go!' hummed the Genin as they opened the second box with manga.

An entire cart-load of bed sheets was heavier than most people would expect. But I pushed it along, through the spacious aisles of 'Tyson's', towards the cash register stations in the horizon of the large surplus store. I was almost finished with this task, and there was little to no doubt that the carriage I had requested was currently waiting for me outside of the store. I only needed to check-out, load all of this merchandise up, and carefully make my way to the orphanage to pick-up Yukiko and ensure the carriage sent by the Daimyo arrived to pick up the kids and their head mistress. Piece of cake, right?

The cart wheels squeaked and groaned under the pressure of all those bed sheets, but I managed to get it into an open line. Parallel to the cash register, the attendant there simply stared at the merchandise I wished to purchase, then at me. She was obviously in disbelief. "Sorry," I apologized, rubbing the back of my neck sheepishly. "But I ripped off the price tag for each of them, at least. If you trust me enough to do so, you can simply scan them and process the order without having to rummage between each and every sheet. Plus, I'm a Kumogakure shinobi, see?" I added, retrieving my headband from the depths of my pocket. "You can trust me." With that, I waited for an answer.

She thought about it for a second, but eventually succumbed to my suggestion. It was much easier on her, and I was telling the truth when I said I wasn't lying or trying to scam her in some way. Within a matter of about ten minutes, I paid the bill in full and exited the store with the cart full of sheets and a really long receipt. Sure enough, I found the carriage I had requested right there, on the side of the street, two horses strong. But there were no helpers in sight. Apparently, they had only dropped off the carriage for me and left. My fault, for not making my order's clear enough, I thought grievously, resisting the urge to cover my face in the agony that would come. Loading up the sheets.

The back cart of the carriage was spacious enough to fit all of the bed sheets, sure, but it was also a matter of placing them correctly and firmly. So that they didn't bounce off when I rode this vehicle towards the orphanage. The horses whined and trotted their hooves in place as the felt the load get heavier and heavier, as I finished emptying the cart I had rolled out of the store. When I was done, I quickly returned said shopping cart back to the store's premises, then hopped up onto the driver's seat of the carriage, taking the reins. Time to go!

'Wonder what sort of shoujo* manga they have' thought the female as she picked up some volumes of Dragon Orb. The other girl there had already taken care of volume 4-6, so there were just ten more volumes left. "There we go" muttered Yukiko as she placed four volumes into the shelf.
"Is it true that shinobis can spit fire?" inquired Minako as she picked up more tankobons from the box. A small laughter escaped the girls mouth; she did not knew that there were rumours like that about shinobis.

"Sorry. It is true that there are shinobis that can breathe fire out of their mouth, but they can do other things too" replied the Genin as she went back to the cardboard box. "Like what?" asked the female as she stabled four volumes in her hands.
"I have met shinobis who can make the earth shake or create snakes made out of lightning. We call those sort of thing elemental ninjutsus" informed the older female with a smile.

"Are there super strong shinobis who can lift walls?" asked the orphan as her partner picked up four books from the box. "I have never seen it. But I do know that there are shinobis that can punch through normal doors with strength...my taijutsu teacher did that once to demonstrate" answered the brunette.
"It must be dangerous to be a shinobi. I mean, you guys have to fight against bandit gangs or murderers" stated the girl as she placed tankobons into the shelf.

"Why are you so curious about shinobis Minako-san?" inquired the other girl while she raised a brow in wonder. "Rieko said that the person who saved me and my brother was a Jounin from Kumogakure. I couldn't become a shinobi however since there was a defect in my system that made me unable to use chakra" informed the redhead.
"Ooooh....I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm sure you can become a crime investigator or a detective instead of a shinobi" said Yukiko with an apologizing look at her face.

"Yup. I want to become a detective when I grow up, just like Herlock Soles" stated the female as she picked up some tankobons in the second last box there. It contained twelve volumes of Shaman ruler plus ten volumes of the shoujo manga Sailor Luna.
"Oooooh! I LOVE Sailor Luna!" exclaimed the female with a big smile on her face; she had all of the volumes back home in Kumogakure.

"Sailor Luna is my second most favourite manga. My favourite is Mermaid Melody Pitch" informed Minako as she picked up four tankobons. "That one is nice too" replied the Genin as she tried to carry the four tankobons over to the shelf.
"I'm glad I got a day off today...we had a stupid math test" muttered the girl as she started to place the books into the shelf. "You hate math too!?" exclaimed the older girl with a rather happy expression.

"Yup. I like subjects like painting or history better than math" replied the orphan as she put the fourth book in its place. "I like history too! What sort of subjects do you have at your school?" asked the brunette.
"I have Japanese, history, math, geography, painting, society knowledge, earth science plus P.E" said the female as she waited for her partner to finish. "Sounds nice...I had everything you said except society knowledge at the Academy" replied the female.

Shoujo manga = girls manga.

A storm of trampling hooves- going faster and faster- terrorized the stone-cobbled streets of Kami no Shima as I guided the horse-drawn carriage onwards towards the old orphanage. I was rushing to meet the deadline, to get this move done with so I could help the head mistress in any other goals she wished to achieve. My job here wouldn't be done until the orphaned kids and their guardians had successfully moved into their new establishment with all the supplies adequate enough to meet their needs. By now, I figured we were halfway done.

The horses whined and reared their heads as I whipped lightly on the reins, wondering in the meantime how Yukiko was faring with her own mission. Good, I hoped. For I would be there soon, ready to help them pack up the last of anything they had managed to miss. Then after that, escorting the carriage that was bound to arrive there later this afternoon. The carriages that would take the kids safely towards their new home.

Passing countless establishments and apartment complexes, I made sure not to frighten or get into any close calls with any of the pedestrians nearby. Two horses pulling along a carriage with as heavy a load as mine was dangerous enough to hurt- or possibly even kill- someone. I needed to be careful driving it, despite my haste. Years before, during my youth as a soldier of Kumogakure, this type of driving had become common and useful. Now, on rare occasions like this, I needed to put that past and often missed carriage-driving experience to use.

Then finally! I reached the old orphanage. Parking the carriage in front of the old black gate, I hopped off and tied the reins firmly to a black bar sticking out of the concrete near the property. With the horses, the carriage, and its contents, in place, I advanced quickly towards the old orphanage door. It was locked, just as I had left it before leaving it, so I knocked. Tap, tap, tap. "Yukiko? Miss Reiko? I'm back with the sheets- it's Atlas." Then I awaited an answer, hoping to help them with whatever they needed next. Had the kids been gathered, the boxes packed? These were all things I'd find out soon enough.

[Yuki-chan]

"Looks like it's time for us to move on to Shaman ruler Yukiko-san" stated the girl as she placed the last Dragon Orb volume into the shelf. "Yup!" exclaimed the female with a grin on her face as they moved on. There were only twelve volumes there, so that would not take too long for them.
Both of them took four volumes each and started to sort them after their publishing date. Neither of them spoke that much since they had one more box to go before they were done.

"Do you have any idea of what can be in the last box Minako-san?" inquired Yukiko as she put the fifth volume into the shelf. "Not really...one of the book shops plus one of the libraries here donated these books to us. Everything was lost when the previous orphanage burned down" replied Minako.
"It's nice of them to give you books. But why aren't there teenagers living in this orphanage?" asked the girl as she raised a pale brown eyebrow in wonder.

"We move to another orphanage when we become 12 years old. That orphanage is closer to the upper secondary school, which is about fifteen minutes away" answered the female.
"Yeah...I suppose it will be a bit crowded here too" muttered the Genin as she placed the last volume in the shelf. Her partner nodded as she walked over to pick up the last four volumes.

"I'll start with this box Minako-san" announced the female as she went over to the last box of books. The orphan gave her a nod in reply and the brunette opened up the cardboard box. Eleven volumes of Mermaid Melody pitch plus fourteen volumes of Hana no Yokai was inside.
"YES! The first eleven volumes of Mermaid Melody Pitch!" exclaimed the girl while she raised both of her hands in the air with a rather large smile on her face.

Both of them grabbed five volumes each this time since these books were a little smaller than the previous ones. It did not take long until they could start on Hana no Yokai. "Looks like some manga based on Japanese folklore...I better see if they have this one back in Kumogakure" muttered the girl.
"You like folklore?" inquired the redhead as they reached the bookshelf. "Yup; I was nicknamed Yuki onna back at the Academy" replied Yukiko as she put the first two volumes into the shelf.

"Some of the kids nicknamed me Kitsune since my hair is just as red as the fur...I don't mind it though" laughed the female as she placed the fifth to ninth volume in the shelf. Right after they had placed the six last volumes into the bookshelf, a familiar voice was heard.
"Yukiko? Miss Rieko? I'm back with the sheets- it's Atlas." called a voice from the hallway; her senpai had returned.

"Gotta go. I hope I can say happy birthday to you tomorrow before I leave" said the female. "Me too, good luck on escorting the kids here" replied Minako before her partner left the room. Rieko had already arrived and appeared to be quite happy.
"Thank you so much Atlas-san. I think it's time to escort the children to this orphanage soon...there are 16 in total since I will bring the youngest ones here myself" informed the female.

"I have helped Minako-san with placing the books into the shelves" announced the Genin as she approached them. "Great job Yukiko-san. I suggest you can follow Atlas-san to the old orphanage. The children should be there in 15 minutes since they all end school at 1 PM at Fridays" answered the woman.
"We better hurry senpai. It get's dark in just a couple of hours" muttered the girl as she remembered the duo they had met the day before.

My knock at the door had been promptly answered by Reiko, who took notice of the carriage in the background and thanked me for completing my task. Done delivering the bed sheets I had set out to obtain, I would have to make haste should I desire to end the mission by today. To add on to the haste, the afternoon was ending, and the moon would take over the sky soon enough. We'd be off to the orphanage ASAP, to pick up the children and deliver them to their new home, but not before I unloaded all the countless sheets in the back of my- Then suddenly, a breakthrough! The daimyo's carriage had arrived, parking itself right behind my own. Within it, a small group of helpers and moving men.

"Right-o! Let's go, Snow Pea. Your carriage awaits you." I smiled, hoping a child her age would still appreciate the sight of those beautiful creatures known as horses. Standing against the wall, gesturing for her to exit through the open front door, I followed. As we headed out, I jogged towards the daimyo assistants awaiting us at the side of the street. Their carriage was far bigger than mine, and was pulled long by- not two horses- but four! Each of them adorned with expensive cloths that held the insignia for Kumogakure. "Hey fellas-" I began, slowing my jog until I stopped right beside their large carriage. "Can you unload the sheets and supplies in my carriage, please? I'll be taking yours, if I may. Send the daimyo my regards, huh?"

With a charming smirk, I spun around to face Yukiko. "C'mon kiddo," I continued, picking her up easily as I placed her on the front bench of the carriage, on the passenger's side. "Now, you just hold on firmly to the sidebars, okay? It's gonna be a bumpy ride, but we're bound to make it to the kids before the sun falls." With that, I briskly jogged to the opposite side of the carriage, taking notice of its sheer size, and hopped up onto the driver's side of the front bench. Taking the reins, it was time to go! A whip- not harmful to the horses, mind you- and we started to move, the trot of hooves beginning its rhythmic song.

I gauged the expression on my little sister's face as the carriage took us quickly through the streets of Kami no Shima. I bet she hadn't known that I could drive a horse-drawn carriage! But that was part of the experience in taking missions together- each time we grew a little closer, learned something new about each other. Her silly behavior and often optimistic attitude only made me more positive and optimistic in the long run. It was something as golden as all the treasures on Earth, something I wouldn't trade for anything in this world or the next. "So kiddo," I started, turning my attention to the street ahead of us as we hurried along to escort the orphaned children. "How'd it go while I was gone? I hope you had at least a little bit of fun, ha ha."

"Right-o! Let's go, Snow Pea. Your carriage awaits you." informed the male as they went out of the building. "Carriage?" replied the female with a somewhat quizzical look at her face.
Her question would soon be answered; a rather large carriage with four horses waited for them outside the gates.

"Hey fellas! Can you unload the sheets and supplies in my carriage, please? I'll be taking yours, if I may. Send the daimyo my regards, huh?" announced Atlas as they approached the vehicle they would use.
Yukiko looked up at the four black horses that pulled the carriage...those animals had to be strong in order to pull the carriage plus the passengers.

"C'mon kiddo. Now, you just hold on firmly to the sidebars, okay? It's gonna be a bumpy ride, but we're bound to make it to the kids before the sun falls." said the Chuunin as he lifted her up.
A small frown appeared at the girls face...she could have climbed into the carriage herself. But she hold onto the sidebars since she did not wanted to fall off.

A snapping sound of some sort rang through the air as the carriage started to move through the streets. 'Horse transport is not too bad really' thought the Genin as the carriage turned around a corner. It was a bit bumpy, but this was a lot faster than walking or jump from roof to roof.
'The carriage is large enough to carry all the kids. We better send a New Years present to the daimyo to thank him for what he did for us' thought the female as the horses trotted straight forwards.

"So kiddo, how'd it go while I was gone? I hope you had at least a little bit of fun, ha ha." asked the older male.
"Yeah...I met a girl there who has her birthday tomorrow. I told her that I hoped we could wish each other a happy birthday before we went back to Kumogakure tomorrow" answered the brunette. 'I hope I told my senpai that I'm turning 11 tomorrow, it'll be a bit embarrassing if he doesn't know' thought the girl.

She stretched her neck a bit to see where they was. 'This street looks familiar...won't be long until we are at the old orphanage now' thought Yukiko as the horses started to trot up a small hill. Her observation turned out to be right when they arrived at the old orphanage two-three minutes later.
Most of the children were waiting outside the house; they had their school or kindergarten backpackers clutched in their hands. "WHOA..." muttered many of the kids when the carriage arrived.

"Hello everyone! We're going to the new orphanage by horse" announced the female as she jumped down from the wagon. "How are we gonna climb into that carriage?" inquired Haruo.
"Aren't there any steps or stuff on it senpai?" asked the Genin as she turned towards him. Lifting all the 16 (17 including herself) would take too much time.

Of course, her birthday- tomorrow! There was no chance in Hell I was forgetting that. It was, after all, the first birthday that I'd share with her. I wanted it to be special for my little sister, to let her know exactly how much I loved her. Having already set-up the presents for her, and the scenario for the occasion, I wasn't worried at all. When the time came, I'd be ready to shower her with appreciation and gifts. But for now, the mission at hand was most urgent, and although it pleased me to hear that she had indeed found a friend during her previous work load, I wanted to get done with the final part of this mission and escort the orphans safely to their new home. I was sure Yukiko would agree!

But upon reaching said orphanage, and finding the children gathered there and ready for departure, a seemingly difficult problem would get in our way. Time was running out, and we needed to load up the children as fast and safe as possible. The carriage, of course, was built like a small room. Hefted up off the ground by large one hundred inch wheels, and pulled by the four horses at my disposal. The bench Yukiko and I were sitting was reserved solely for the driver and his passenger.

I quickly hopped off the bench when Yukiko voiced her question. Beneath the door that led into the actual carriage itself- the spacious and comfortable seating room- a stair compartment made of wood. "Here we go! This should do fine, kiddos. Now form a single line! And no pushing, okay? Once you get inside, seat yourselves and don't stand up until we reached the new place." I turned to Yukiko, patting her shoulder as I reached down to eye-level with her. "I think it'd be best if you rode with them in the carriage. Just to make sure they don't poke their heads out of the windows or anything like that."

And so, with that, we began leading the children one by one into the spacious carriage. Their small bodies proved to be a plus in this situation and, in the end, they all managed to fit with room to spare. I shut the small carriage door behind them, then turned up to the slowly darkening sky. It was twilight now- I needed to hurry. Before hopping up onto the driver's bench, this time alone, I would light the lantern hanging from the edge of the carriage on both sides to provide illumination as I drove the horses. Then I took my place behind the reins, whipping the horses into thunderous motion. "Hah!"

"Here we go! This should do fine, kiddos. Now form a single line! And no pushing, okay? Once you get inside, seat yourselves and don't stand up until we reached the new place." announced the older male before he turned towards the female, patting her shoulder as I reached down to eye-level with her.

"I think it'd be best if you rode with them in the carriage. Just to make sure they don't poke their heads out of the windows or anything like that." said Atlas with a more serious look on his face. "Gotcha senpai" replied Yukiko as the children lined up.
Only the youngest children in the group made a bit fuzz about it, but it was probably due to excitement. Neither of them had seen the new orphanage yet and wanted to see their new home.

"Last kid is going in now!" yelled the girl once a boy with black hair went into the large carriage. She entered the carriage right afterwards before her partner shut the door behind her. It would not be long until the sun set...the winters in Kaminari no Kuni usually had short days with long nights.
"Hah!" exclaimed the Chuunin and a familiar snapping sound was heard. The carriage started to move, which made all of the young passengers fall a little backwards.

"Have you ridden a carriage like this?" inquired Eiko while she looked at one of the older boys there. "Nope" replied the boy as they went through the streets towards the orphanage. "How does the new orphanage look Yukiko-senpai!?" asked Chiyo with an eager voice.
"Uhm...it is a lot bigger than the first one with a nice library. Not sure if you'll get your own rooms, but it has a nice garden" answered the Genin with a smile on her face.

"Good thing to hear that it's a nicer place. But the old orphanage was not that bad either" stated the girl as a small smile formed at her face. "Chiyo-san...there were HUGE rats down in the basements" muttered the female.
"At least I had a house. My parents had to send me and my older brother to the orphanage when we were one and three years old" replied the black-haired female.

"May I ask why?" inquired the brunette with a somewhat cautious voice. "Rieko told me that they were so poor that they could not afford food or housing for us. They usually visits us during the holidays since the flat they live in is not large enough for four people" said a black-haired boy who sat close to the window.
"I see...that's quite sad to hear. I'm lucky to have a family who can take care of me" muttered the girl with a neutral facial expression.

Some excited chatter filled the carriage while they traveled through the streets. The lamps that hung at the side would provide some light so they could watch what was outside. "Don't even think about that!" said Yukiko when one of the six year olds tried to open the windows.
"But I wanna see what's outside" whimpered the boy. "We should be at the new orphanage quite soon so sit down" replied the female with a strict voice.

The horse's hooves trampled across the stone-cobbled streets of a slowly darkening Kami no Shima- clickety-clack, clickety-clack, clickety-clack. An incessant and rhythmic sound that was now etched into my brain, a repetitive but strangely hypnotizing effect taking hold. Suddenly, driving a carriage didn't seem so hard anymore. It was as easy as serving myself a cup of milk, or writing with a pencil. Second-nature, something I could put in the background as my mind wandered off to different things in the meantime. But I kept vigilant of my surroundings, never giving accidents a chance to strike, a moment of hesitation. This ride was full of children, in my care.

Being alert was necessary, keeping my speed up preferable, and staying ahead of any mishap or unfortunate event most vital. The sun had gone down now, a light shade of purple covering the sky above. My lanterns did well in illuminating the streets ahead of me and to my sides. Though there wasn't much people walking around Kami no Shima at this hour, it did not lack an abundance of roving dogs and cats. Despite the fact that they were little more than housepets who'd lost their way home, I couldn't afford running them over or killing them by accident.

I could only imagine the shrieks and signs of ill approval all those younglings in the carriage would voice out. I could only hope Yukiko was keeping them centered and safe from harm while I hurried to the orphanage where they would meet a good night's rest. As the carriage continued, however, I would spot something... unusual, to my right. A shadowy figure, running across the rooftops and surprisingly keeping up with my racing carriage. Immediately, I went into alert! A bandit! Someone who surely believed I was holding valuable cargo in this carriage- valuable like gold, jewelry and ryo. Not kids.

I whipped on the horses a little bit harder, urging them to speed up, hoping that we could outrun this threat. But I was forced to slow down when we turned a corner, and the thief caught up to us soon enough. Releasing a brief 'tsk', I knocked on the side of the carriage with a balled fist, hopefully catching Yukiko's attention. "Kiddo!" I exclaimed over the thunderous sound of racing horses. "I could use some help here! Preferably some snow sparrows to knock this guy out into the sky!"

((OOC: I know I can make 40 sparrows at the time, but I thought Yukiko would improve her knowledge on that jutsu during the timeskip. So her current maximum number is on 20. You can RP getting the kids out of the carriage in the next post if you want))

"Are we there soon?" whined the boy who wanted to look out of the window a minute ago. "Yes. We should be there in a couple minutes or less" replied the female as she tried to keep some of the younger kids in check.
'I don't think it's more than a couple minutes left anyways. We left the old orphanage for...five minutes ago' thought Yukiko as she checked the watch strapped to her wrist.

She suddenly felt a little backwards as the carriage started to go a bit faster. "Looks like our driver heard Keitaro-kuns complaint" commented one of the older girls in the carriage. The shinobi girl became a bit suspicious...why would the male increase the speed when they were almost there?
A loud knock could be heard at the left side of the door; it sounded like someone knocked on it. Some of the children screamed as they moved away from the door.

"Kiddo! I could use some help here! Preferably some snow sparrows to knock this guy out into the sky!" shouted Atlas with a somewhat worried voice. The Genin's eyes widened; someone or something out there were targeting their carriage! "Move kids, I need to get to the window!" exclaimed the female while she gathered the chakra that was required.

'Looks like I have to turn this up to the max! I can make twenty sparrows at once if I have to and I can use the snow outside to help me' thought the brunette as she made her way over to the window. Her tiny fingers tried to open it while her eyes tried to find their attacker.
Crystal blue eyes then saw a rather fast man who ran across a roof on the other side of the road. 'I just hope my Yuki no Kami range is long enough to hit him!' thought the girl as she opened the window.

Her fingers performed the handseals with high speed while she tried to find out where she should aim on the man. He came closer to them now, but he was about to do a nasty mistake.
"HEY! EAT SNOWBALLS YOUR IDIOT!" screamed Yukiko as she started to form twenty snow sparrows by using the surrounding snow.

She had decided to launch them in three rows. One that contained six snow sparrows while the other two contained seven sparrows each. The bandit seemed surprised that there was kids in the carriage and slowed down a little.
It worked out perfectly; six sparrows bombarded his face as well as his chest right afterwards. Seven new ones went straight towards his legs while the remaining row went for the entire body.

Snow got into his eyes as well as his clothes. "I hope that's enough senpai!" yelled the female as the carriage got further away from the man. "What's going on?" inquired one of the boys who appeared to be eight years old.
"Someone tried to attack us, but I used an ice ninjutsu that forms birds out of snow. It's like being hit by twenty normal snowballs in short time" explained the Genin.

"Ooooh" replied the boy as the carriage turned to the left. The girl looked out of the window; she could see the orphanage in the end of the street. "Good news kids....we should be at the new orphanage any moment" informed the brunette.
"REALLY!?" exclaimed Eiko. "Yup, it's in the end of this street" replied the female with a happy smile.

Consumption - Chakra Reduction I.

I would have helped deter the bandit, if I wasn't preoccupied driving this racing carriage and navigating use safely through the bumpy streets of Kami no Shima. But Yukiko, I knew, would come through. She was all the help I needed, and as long as her accuracy with the snow sparrows was as good as it had been during the 'chip delivery' mission, we were bound to truly knock this guy off of our trail. I tried to concentrate on the road ahead of me as Yukiko responded to my previous call, but I couldn't help but slightly turn around when I felt a sudden chill materialize in the air. She was forming her sparrows!

Now, it was up to me to keep the carriage steady as it continued down the street- steady enough to keep my little sister focused as she aimed her ninjutsu and took that bandit out. The bandit, following us still, was thankfully caught off guard. The thud of snow crashing into his limbs resonated throughout the night air, barely audible under the booming sound of our horses. But that sound, I knew, meant that Yukiko had struck her target. She'd done it! And now we could safely make it to the new orphanage without having to worry about clearly ignorant thieves.

I gave a deep sigh of relief, smiling at the success. "Thanks, kiddo! That was spectacular." I beamed, slowing down the horses a bit as we approached our destination. In all of the commotion, during the thrill of the escape, we'd made good progress to the new orphanage. Now we were here, having escaped the ill intention of a criminal, and I could finally give the horses some much needed rest as I pulled on the reins and urged them to stop at the side of the street. The establishment, in all its new and furnished glory, stood in the moonlight behind pearly black gates. Hopping off the driver's bench of the carriage, I hopped off, emerald green eyes glistening in the presence of the lantern's firelight.

First I pulled out the stairs from under the carriage door. Then I would open the door itself, poking my head into the room with a smile. "We're here kids. Now, just like before, single file, alright? And no running! No matter how excited you get. Yukiko'll tell you who goes first, so listen to her, okay?" With that, I backed out of the carriage room and opened the door wide, ushering the first of the children safely down the stairs as they gathered at the front gate of the new orphanage. From here, Yukiko and I would be able to guide them onto the property and into their new home. And their gifts!

"Thanks, kiddo! That was spectacular." stated the male as they approached their goal. "No problem senpai!" yelled the female with a big smile on her face.
'Come to think of it, this is the second time on this mission that I've helped my senpai with something! Maybe I should improve the jutsus I already know so I can be more of a long range fighter' thought Yukiko.

"Is our orphanage really in this street?" exclaimed one of the boys as he looked out of the window. His question was answered when the carriage came to a halt on the side of the street. The door was opened by Atlas, who had his usual grin on his face.
"YAAAAY! WE'RE THERE!" yelled several of the children when they realized that they had now arrived at their new home.

"We're here kids. Now, just like before, single file, alright? And no running! No matter how excited you get. Yukiko'll tell you who goes first, so listen to her, okay?" informed the young man as the children stood up from their seats...to say they were eager to see the new house was not an understatement.

A smile formed at the girls face when the children parted so she could get out of the carriage. "I would like all of the eleven-year olds to come out of the carriage first. The oldest children are taking up the most place, so I think that's fair" announced the Genin as she looked at the children.
All of the oldest children cheered as they exited the carriage in a single file. "WHOAA...." muttered the kids as they saw the large mansion that they would live in.

"Are we going to live THERE!? Or is this just a joke!?" exclaimed Chiyo's older brother as the nine-year olds came out of the carriage. "It is not a joke...what's your name?" inquired the female.
"Oh, my name is Hajime" informed Hajime with a silly smile on his face. Once all of the children had gotten out, it was time to escort them into their new home.

"Follow us everyone!" announced the brunette after the children had formed a long single line. They walked up the path to the large mansion where they would live until they had to move to the 'teen' orphanage. Some excited murmurs could be heard about the large garden.
"Welcome to your new home everyone!" said the older female as she opened up the door to the orphanage. Everyone walked inside; it was quite warm compared to the outside.

"I have good news for all of you. Only those who are in kindergarten have to share room, so all the six-year olds will now have their own room" announced Rieko. All of the children in the said agegroup cheered; it appeared that the old rule was that everyone who were six or younger had to share.
"Each agegroup will live in different sections of the house. There are three male bathrooms, three female bathrooms plus one baby bathroom in this house" informed the woman.

"Whoa! That's two more bathrooms than the old orphanage!" exclaimed Eiko with a huge grin.
"I would like Atlas-san to escort the boys to their bedrooms and Yukiko to escort the girls. I have a list here over rooms" said the brunette as she handed one list to each. "Form a line behind each person and follow them to the rooms...100 rooms are on the ground floor while 200 rooms are on the first floor" informed the female as she looked at them.
