The boy would wearily trudge through the streets of Kumogakure as he continued reading details on his last two missions. They’d be his fourth and fifth missions of the day; upon their completion, his goal for the day would be met.

"uuhhh"

He’d be exhausted – his first mission having consisted of delivering packages across town, his second catching an enormous fish, and his third scrubbing off hundreds of different walls filled with graffiti – yet, he’d continue on trekking, his drive to finish the last two missions overpowering his desire to stop and give up.

The young Hyūga had never been a quitter; even as a boy training in his clan’s dojo, he’d always been the last one to leave and give in for the day. This day would be no exception, evident as he made his way through town.

Haru would shuffle the two mission notes through his hands as he continued on his way toward nowhere, weighing the particulars of each as he’d ponder on which to take on next.

One involved mowing the vast lawn of Kumogakure no Sato’s national park, cutting its bushes, picking up trash, and otherwise making sure it looked as good as possible in any way he could. It would be a relaxing mission, especially due to the fact that the lawn mower the park would be loaning him had to be driven, which would all the boy to sit down.

The second task would consist of scouring the village in search of stray pets, afterward taking them to the village’s animal collection agency. A harder task for most ninja, the boy’s Kekkai Genkai would make the job simple. However, still, there’d most likely be a chase, and at the moment he couldn’t see himself running across town.

Therefore, he’d choose to work on the colossal park’s lawn first, knowing that his legs would be well rested by the time he’d finished. As he had no supplies on him other than the towel and bucket of dirty soap water he’d just finished using, the youthful genin would be forced to travel back home.

He wouldn’t stay long, instead rushing in and out, this time leaving with nothing. Everything necessary for the tidying of the national park would be given to him upon arrival, as the village hadn’t expected their shinobi to carry such tools.

Haru would set off toward his destination after leaving the substantial neighborhood, feeling slightly relieved, as, upon arrival, he’d finally get the chance to rest his beaten limbs.

Considering Kumogakure’s national park as he walked in its direction, the young Hyūga would realize that he’d never actually been there.

Huh…

Yes, he’d seen the outside from time to time while passing by, had listened in on talks about it, and even studied maps of the region; though regardless, had never taken the time to actually visit. This would be attributed primarily to the lack of free time he’d had even from his start as a Kumo Shinobi.

One couldn’t just join another village without being watched and observed; as any other ninja who’d joined, he too would have tabs kept on him in the case that he’d betray the cloud.

While that was not the case with Haru, as he’d grown to love the dominant village in all of its honor, power, and glory, it was still understandable.

The common knowledge that a close eye had been kept on him would force the boy to work harder than he would have otherwise, which, in the past, had already been more than the majority of ninja could account for.

He’d ran himself ragged over the last month, completing mission after mission after mission, all in an effort to solidify himself as a truly loyal, trustworthy Kumogakure Shinobi. The result had been less surveillance, as just within the past week it’d almost lightened up completely.

He would count the coast as being clear quite just yet, however, now attempting to show that he’d act the same regardless of whether he’d been spied on or not. Five d-rank mission in one day would hopefully prove this.

These thoughts would linger in his head for only moments longer, as he’d just reached the measureless expanse of wildlife, plains, forest, waterfalls, mountains, and everything else that encompassed the village’s official reserve.

“here we are!”

A park employee would greet him as he entered the gigantic area; he’d introduce himself as the Genin charged with cleaning the place up, and would subsequently be led to a secret, underground shed, which would house the riding lawn mower, a pair of lopping shears, weed-eater, etc.

Ready to get off his feet, he’d start up the mower first, taking a deep breath as he’d finally sit. His legs would throb in soreness as he pulled out of the shed, though after a few minutes would avert to a more soothing feeling.

The lawn was massive; he’d guess the mowing alone would take several hours. However, he was in no rush, as it was just reaching 12 a.m., plenty of time to finish before dark.

While it would take quite a long time, the task wouldn’t feel daunting or intimidating, a drastic change from his previous mission. While it had been plagued with sweat, exhaustion, and the nauseating smell of grimy soap water, this one would be filled with fresh air, laughter, and relaxation.

Although he himself had never mowed before, he’d watched people do it; recalling upon those memories, the young Hyūga would eventually get a feel for the task. It was common sense, really – simply drive the machine back and forth in straight lines, making sure not to miss any large spots, make any wide turns, or run over any big rocks.

He’d attempt to stay as far away from the regular civilians as possible when driving the lawn mower, as it was rather loud, and he didn’t want to ruin or interrupt anyone’s day.

As he rode the mechanism in an extremely repetitive manner, the boy would make sure to pay attention to anything else out of place; it would save time, as otherwise he’d have to walk around looking for things once he’d finished.

The lush, green grass wasn’t too high, and looked good regardless; the only other thing he could see that seemed out of place would be the untrimmed bushes lining the entrance path. It stretched about a mile, with these unkempt bushes sprouting in groups every five to ten meters.

The young Hyūga would finish mowing within the next three hours, concluding his grass cutting with a stare of appreciation, in awe at how beautiful the scenery would look.

The Kumo-nin would afterward get to work on the bushes, grabbing his shears and working to clip them each into a pattern of geometric shapes. He’d take his time with this, not getting exhausted or even sweating as he worked to make the Hidden Cloud’s national park look brand new.

Last would be the weed eating; this was something he’d seen others do as well, as he used to be amused by the young Genin coming by in the afternoon to clean their clan’s district.

The key to this, he’d guessed, was to make sure not to get it too close to his ankles or even legs in general, as it seemed like the rapid, extremely fast moving string carried enough force and power to easily strip them down to the bone.

It would look ten times better once he’d finished than it had before. It had taken him a total of five hours to complete the whole task; he’d have another two or three before it’d begin to get dark. He’d say goodbye to the reserve employees as he made his way out, now headed toward a bench nearby.
