Reports of wild bears, hogs and wolves in particular have sprouted up frequently, claiming they have destroyed property in search for food, chased and even attacked human beings. Clearly, there is an overpopulation issue occurring here, and the natural order of things must be returned to balance. Your mission includes hunting down various of these creatures, then distributing the bounty that comes from them to the villagers inhabiting the community at the base of Mt. Gekitsuu- which includes pelts, meats and bones.

His nostrils flared, sucking the crisp, night air deeply into his awaiting lungs and signaling the intensity of his convictions. It had been less than twenty-four hours since he'd received confirmation of dual partnership regarding a new mission as well as confirmation that the Raikage himself had acknowledged his request regarding another. The answer had been no but regardless of the outcome; the main man in the Land of Lightning had been made aware of something Satsui had requested. If he could complete this mission successfully then there might be another chance to make contact; Satsui needed something quite spectacular to be working in his favor if he was going to persuade the Raikage to train him personally. In his mind he imagined what would need to be done and his body tensed and flexed in frenzied preparation. It was still a Genin ranked mission but at the very least it would give Satsui the chance to indulge his darker talents and interests.

His body moved through the air from tree to tree having left the outskirts of the village far behind. He'd set out on his journey at dusk to allow the greatest possible circumstances for his hunt. His mission was to clear Mt. Gekitsuu of the overabundant wildlife that currently inhabited its caves and peaks. He purposed to arrive after nightfall knowing that the animals in question would be much more active under the cover of darkness. His garb was nothing but a black bodysuit made to provide suitable concealment of self on such night missions such as this one. He also didn’t want to give his position away to his comrade before he was prepared for the meet and greet. Rinji Hirihi would be joining him for this particular mission, after they’d both agreed upon the date and time, but he was sorely unfamiliar with the prospect of working in a pair. He reached the tree line just before the beginning of the trail leading up Mt. Gekitsuu and paused on the highest branch to look down on the path running underneath the darkened canopy.

Mission Post #1

[Hirihi]

As the darkness had begun to fall, Hirihi was walking along the paths beneath the trees. Unlike her counterpart, who she was unaware of at the moment, she had chosen to stick to the ground for a bit. She was tired of running around at the high altitudes. She was more interested in doing some trail hiking more than anything. As she walked, her thoughts wandered to what she'd be asked to do. Killing animals, based on overpopulation, was definitely a crude task. She was no stranger to death among animals, as she had lost a few animals during her training at the hospital.

Something, though, seemed different about it at the thought of taking animal life that was just overcrowded. Humans had once been overcrowding the different countries a while ago, or so she imagined. There was talk of scarcity of food and then the war happened. Maybe war was a human's way of extermination without consequence. it was a morbid thought, but she thought it best to keep the very notion to herself. Some would possibly commit her for it to a psychiatric ward. That was something she did not find as a pleasant vacation from her life. Sighing as she approached the treeless terrain that led up to the mountain in question, Hirihi looked around.

Leaning against the tree, her partner up in the tree just behind her, Hirihi huffed and looked around. They'd have to move fast through the night to get the animal population down. They possibly could be there longer than a night if there was a problem hunting them. The thought that it would be hard to find the animals with them supposedly being overpopulated was a little humorous to think about actually. It would be her luck, right, to be left alone in the woods with a man she just met the other night. Her father has spoken against it, stating that going here alone with him was a bad idea. He had almost called in a chuunin to help them, but none would take the bait. They knew her father too well.

Pushing off of the tree, she did a 180 and looked back towards the trail she'd walked to get where she was now. It seemed scarier to go back than to go up to the mountain. Brushing her pink hair out of her face, she waited patiently, hoping that he wouldn't be too much longer. The thought of being there alone was sending chills up her spine, making her feel a bit unsafe and strangely exhilarated.

Satsui watched with amusement as his partner made her way toward the mountain passageway. From his vantage point he was able to make careful study of her mannerisms and movements and, though some might have called it ogling, he put quite a bit of effort into studying her. Their first meeting had not been too long ago but somehow he'd felt immediately drawn to this person as if by some strange, cosmic happening they'd been meant to meet all along. He wasn't entirely sure why he'd invited this strange woman along on what had originally been a solo mission, but he had spent the day telling himself that he probably needed some help if they were to be done before daylight broke. He knew there was something more; something about her was nigh irresistible to him and there was no denying that yet still he fought against what his psyche was telling him.

He pondered how long he could remain in the tree and whether or not she would continue without him but his inner self found this to be somewhat cowardly. The last time he'd encountered this woman was completely spontaneous but now, when making contact was a choice, he was stunned that he held back. The only real interaction he had ever known was with his family and that wasn't what most would classify as pleasant so being around new people, and enjoying it, was a bizarre occurrence in his book. But he saw himself as a man and wanted that same recognition from others so hiding from a girl was not something he could tolerate. He took one last, long glance at the pink haired kunoichi before leaving his perch and casting himself out into the night air. The thickness of the canopy obscured the moonlight well and he didn't have to worry about casting a shadow so Hirihi's first notice of him ought to have been when he landed a few feet behind her.

Though he landed softly on the balls of his feet, standing to full height caused him to break a twig as he shifted his full weight toward his heels. He would wait for her to turn before moving so as not to cause any further alarm and then motion for her to follow him before taking off in a dead run up to mountain pass. He kicked himself for not issuing a greeting but his mind had been unable to process anything, still analyzing the data from his peepshow, and so he would write it off to stealth. He hoped she would think the same thing; his silence was due to not wanting to spook any nearby animals instead of inability to produce normal speech in her presence. He turned his head, partially to check and see that she was following, partly to check her out but his eyes didn't stray to any inappropriate areas like during their last meeting. He turned his gaze forward just in time to duck a low-hanging branch and he thanked Jidaishisou that he hadn't made such a foolish error so close to the beginning of their time together.

Eventually, he slowed and came to a stop behind a massive outcropping of rocks. He would turn to her, as gracefully as his jumbled mind would allow, and after regulating his breathing he would attempt a smile. The ridiculously crooked smirk that followed was immediately wiped away and he would rub one finger across his hitai-ate- a sort of greeting that was popular with the other children while he'd been in the Academy. He hoped she would catch the meaning and barrel on into his rushed, and perhaps incoherent, speech.

"We both know why we're here and what needs to be done so there shouldn't be any problems with us being on the same page, but I've been on this mountain before and I'm slightly worried about us getting separated in the dark. Any thoughts on how to avoid this?"

Hirihi waited a few moments longer before she heard something rustling in the trees above. It wasn't something that sounded like more than the wind, but her mind was on edge. Who the hell was out there, and why had they been in the trees? There were few reasons to lay hidden from a person unless you were planning to attack. At the sound of the twig snapping behind her, Hirihi immediately drew her tonfa and held them forward as she pivoted and dropped to a combative stance. Her crimson eyes looked towards the person she assumed an assailant, only to be shocked at who it was. Satsui had been the one before in the trees, she had assumed. As she lowered the tonfas in her hands, she watched him as he motioned for her to follow.

Light on her feet, she sprang from her lowered stance into a run as she followed behind him. Moving quick, keeping pace with him for a majority of the run, she would make sure to make as little noise as possible. She could only assume that he was smart enough to know that the wildlife would be aware of their presence if they spoke too loudly. That was why he had said nothing and used hand signals to get her to follow behind him. They would only leave behind them slight footprints, making virtually no noise as they sailed through the underbrush. The canopy above leaked small bits of moonlight onto the ground, creating a very tranquil atmosphere. One would never be able to believe that there were animals there that needed to be exterminated.

Hirihi could hear the faint rumblings of animal life as she eventually came to a stop beside him. Her own breathing was a bit heavier than his, as she was a bit out of shape in comparison to him. Forcing her heart to beat normally, a rather tricky task, she eventually would slow her breathing to a quieter pace as she listened to him go through a brief introduction of what they were there for. She knew perfectly well the task at hand. They were to exterminate and salvage the remains of the animals that they killed. In doing so, they would be helping the local population to deal with the animals without fear of death or dismemberment. It might even put a scare into the animals to not go near the humans again.

At the mention of them needing a means to locate each other should they get separated, hirihi was quick to produce a black radio from her pouch and show it to him. "I don't know about you, but I have a radio that I can use to communicate with those I share frequencies with." She said, putting the radio back into her pouch and looking at him as she thought to herself. Other than the obvious of him having a radio, how would they keep in touch should they be separated? "Well, what about this. We set a central meeting point. I am excellent with direction, so we could name this our spot to return to if we are, for some reason, split up from each other." She said, curious how he would take to that advice.

Satsui frowned at the mention of the radio for he'd chosen to receive a tracker from the Kumo storehouse upon his promotion to Genin. At the time, he believed it was better to be able to see an approaching enemy yourself rather than be able to tell someone else where you thought they might be. But there were a lot of things he was being forced to reconsider; one such thing was how to conduct oneself on a mission with more than one person. He never had to worry about getting separated from his partner before because he hadn't ever teamed up with another person. It was just something about this woman that kept his interest and practically demanded he see her again, but he was getting distracted by her body even in the pale moonlight. He was highly in favor of setting a rendezvous point since he had an excellent sense of direction so when Hirihi proposed that he nodded in agreement.

"Next order of business- we need to decide what we're hunting, in what order, and then select a person to be on point to bring them down when we find them." This was more of what he would've done if he'd been alone on the mountain since Satsui was a very methodical individual. He made plans and usually stuck to them down to the letter but he wasn't sure if his partner was the same way so this was more to gauge he response. "I suggest we start with the most dangerous and work our way backwards so that we don't tire ourselves out on the least lethal prey."

As he spoke, he set his mind to scanning the area surrounding them and it would appear that he was checking the perimeter for any wild animals when in truth he was desperately avoiding looking at Hirihi. The fact that he was alone with her on the mountain was causing him some issues related to gender interaction. He wasn't the type to give in and satisfy his basest human instincts, especially if they were unwelcome, but it was hard to judge whether or not he was coming close to being inappropriate. He didn't hang around other people often and he usually only sparred with strong opponent, women not normally being in that group, so he had no frame of reference for how he was acting right now. He trusted that Hirihi was also watching the tree line since she was probably on alert to make sure nothing else approached her as closely as Satsui had when she first arrived near the mountain pass.

Hirihi had been considering what else they could do to locate each other. Her thoughts had been somewhat short, though, as the conversation had seemed to move on to more important things other than the basics of their mission. As the thoughts would slowly change to how they were going to do the mission, she really had no basis on where to start. She was not a hunter, by nature. She could do it, yes, but she had little experience with effective hunting. To be honest, the first recommendation that he had given was one that sounded really good to her. "The biggest thing out here is bears, right?" She asked, uncertain on the details of what they were to be hunting.

"If bears are our biggest concern out here, then we should tackle them first. As for me, I can either fight them with Taijutsu or Ninjutsu. It just depends on how much you want to preserve the bodies." She said, thinking about the different ways she could decimate the population of animals. Burn them, beat them, make their skull cave in with a single punch or kick. How morbid it sounded, but it seemed to be very interesting choices for her. She knew he was a capable fighter at punching shadows, but how well could he stand up in a real fight with something that wasn't imaginary?

Her eyes trailed the area around them, curiously checking for anything that might give the sign of an animal that they were hunting. "So, specifically, which animal populations are we 'downsizing?'" She asked, finding her choice in words very kind in comparison to what it could be. The sound of the rustling trees as moonlight passed through the leaves drew her attention to the wind blowing through them. They were remarkably high from sea level, so it wasn't as if the wind couldn't be the culprit. She just didn't like the thought of a bear coming up behind her.

She, especially, couldn't let something get the drop on her after what had happened at the mountain pass. He had really surprised her, and she was kicking herself for letting the man fool her so easily. Sighing quietly, she took out a kunai from her pack and stabbed it into a nearby tree, marking their rendezvous location. "You get lost, come back here." She said, solving the problem of where they would meet after getting separated.

Satsui finally allowed himself to look upon Hirihi and, almost instantly, he completely lost his train of thought. Her aura was nearing irresistibility in the dulled light of the moon yet she was entirely naive to her situation. Her companion felt that to accomplish this mission without making some kind of inappropriate mistake would be a victory in and of itself. Shaking his head, clearing the airwaves, Satsui would nod and go into a bit of strategy.

"Bears will definitely be the largest prey we find on the mountain but not necessarily the most dangerous. As for how we take them down; I would suggest we play to each others strong suits and make it a team effort."

Satsui stayed low to the ground as he peered around one side of the rock face they were hiding behind to check and see if any animals were approaching. When he was satisfied that none of the wild beasts had overheard them just yet, and that the wind was still going downhill, he turned back to his partner before taking a small piece of parchment from within his garments and began to write. Once he was finished, he handed it to Hirihi along with another small piece for her to write on.

"That is everything I know as well as everything in my arsenal. I thought it might be nice to just say it up front so you don't have to wonder about what I can bring to the table. This way, we can brainstorm about how we can best utilize each other's skills."

He knew that it wasn't so simple to create a dynamic partnership but he still felt that exchanging info was a good way to get started. You couldn't know someone just by reading from a list but having good information about an individual was an important step in getting to know them. This mission was not going to allow for a lot of time for Satsui and Hirihi to get to know one another in any meaningful way, and they certainly wouldn't be able to leisurely inquire about how to handle certain situations. They were there to decrease the animal population by killing them off and none of their targets were particularly cuddly.

"Like I said, the bears may not be our biggest problem when we consider that most of them hunt in solitude. Their size and strength are somewhat daunting but, usually, they will be less of a challenge than the wolves. Those little beasties are almost never alone and they rely on pack hierarchy and command to take down large prey. Basically they do what we need to do; communicate effectively and precisely in order to bring the hunt to a close before we have a chance to make a wrong move and end up in something's gullet."

Satsui took out a mini map that he'd prepared from memory. The last time he was on Mt. Gekitsuu it was more of an exploratory/nature retreat type of mission. It had also been during the day when most of the wild animals were dormant and so he'd had the time to devote his senses to the surroundings. On the map were crude drawings of what appeared to be wild boars, mountain wolves, and stick figures strangely resembling grizzly bears.

"As far as preserving the bodies- I think the folks we're taking this stuff to are actually one more interested in making knick knacks than souvenirs so as long as they is some usable meat and bone we should be fine. Making this the base camp sounds like a good idea too Hirihi-chan. So, knowing what we know, which animals do you want to start with? Bears of wolves?"

[Hirihi]

Hirihi was never one to strategize when it came to situations like this. She had little fear of the very animals in the forest, compared to her own strength. The wolves could prove to be a rather risky situation, but she had little worry for the two of them. She was a genin, as was he, but she was certain they could handle anything these animals could get the best of them. "Between the two animals, I would definitely say that we should focus on the wolves. Bears are bigger, clunkier. Plus, they are less likely to travel together, as you said. As far as for the remains of the animals, we can bring them here and I'll take care of skinning them. If you don't know how, I'd be more than happy to show you how its done." She said.

He probably already knew how to do it anyways, but she wasn't sure. She hated to be the one to assume something that wasn't exactly true. Taking the list from him, Hirihi gave it a quick read as she began to formulate some thoughts on how they could begin their hunting expedition. They could, potentially, use her abilities with Katon to enshroud and trap their victims. He seemed to be the type to attack with brute force, so it would definitely be in their favor to do just that. "As far as for me, you know I'm a medic. I also have access to Sensory techniques, along with the medic fighting style Souin. I'm also quite skilled with Katon. Most of my equipment is basic, but if you want to know what I have, just take a look for yourself."[ She said, setting her pack down for him to rummage through if he so desired.

Looking at the crude map he had drawn, Hirihi tapped her petite fingers against the spot where the wolves were drawn on the paper scrap. "We should go there. When we get there, we can split up within ten meters of each other. When we find a hunting party, we could surround them. If they are pack animals, like you said, if we take the leader down and separate him from his pack, he will go down just as easily as a lone wolf." She said, standing up and pressing her finger against the kuani embedded in the bark of the tree.

"I don't know if it would help, but do you think that a fire would attract or scare off pack animals? If they are definitely in need of food, given that they are over populated, do you think that they would be drawn to it? I mean, they are invading homes that are lit with people around. What's to say they won't be drawn to a fire that smells of cooking meat?" She asked, wondering if it were possible to draw the animals to them.

[Hirihi]

Hirihi thought quietly for a few moments following her questions. That was going to be the best way that the two of them were going to get the job done. Split up. They could meet back there, rather than track the creatures together. She wasn't a complete stranger to the mountains and forests of the area. It would be a bit harder than she would like, but she'd gladly do whatever she could to get this mission completed as best she could. "Tell you what, let's split up. I will go after the wolves. You seem the type to be more content with putting in some one-on-one moves on a bear, so I'll take the task of the pack animals." She said, smiling at him and pulling a tonfa from her waist holster, waving the tip of the weapon at him. "We will do it twice as fast this way, and not have to deplete the time we have out here." She said, knowing that they would be very busy with what they were doing and could end up doing this straight through to the early morning hours to even dawn.

Holstering the tonfa, Hirihi jumped into a tree and vanished through the canopy to head in the direction of the wolves that he had drawn on the map. They had been poorly drawn wolves, but it had done the task of telling her where she needed to go. Her night vision was slightly increased with the help of sparse amounts of moonlight that escaped through the canopy of the trees above, making her feel as if she were truly a hunter in the night. As she ran along the trees, she heard the sound of what was a pack leader howling in the distance. Changing her trajectory, she set herself for a course to be at least 100 meters ahead of them and poised to strike from an overlying branch.

I'll have to be careful with this. There could be enough of them to overwhelm me, and I'm not interested in being taken down by a group of wolves. She thought to herself, bringing her hand to her chin in thought as she formed a plan. The wolves were still moving towards her, and that was when she had come up with the plan. She had the ability to create several fire clones that could do her bidding. Rather than have the clones kill them, though, she figured it best to have the clones be a distraction while she dealt the finishing blow with her tonfa. It was a solid plan, so she hoped. Forming a series of handseals, a group of four fire clones, perfect copies of herself, would stand on the branch beside her. Sending down to of them to stand in a side by side formation, the two would branch off and stand within sight of the pack that was incoming.

The pack of eight wolves would stop at the sight of the pink haired clones, growling and baring their teeth at the clones and attempting to thrash out at them with their teeth and claws. The pack leader, a bigger version of the others, was the first to strike and end up with a burned muzzle. Because the clones were made of pure fire, any attempt to break the small layer of chakra protection the area around them would result in such flaming burns. Sending the other two to the back of the pack, she had them pinned in a box, making sure that none of them got out by stepping in their way where necessary, tonfa raised in an attack position.

Katon Bunshin no Jutsu (Fire Clone Technique)

Special: Up to one clone can be made at a time, plus one more each time retrained. When struck, the clone's fiery essence forces whatever was used to strike it to ignite and burn within, as if it had just struck the bowels of a fire breathing dragon. Clone cannot perform any jutsu, but when defeated, it explodes in a burst of flames, spreading its burning essence everywhere. Explosion range covers 5 meters all around the clone.
Description: With this technique, the Katon user is able to call upon aid from a perfect copy of themselves. Comprised purely of a most intense fire, this clone retains the user movement speed and can share linked mental judgement. Best of all, due to its flowing essence, many solid physical attacks pass through the clone, burning instead whatever was used to strike them. Finally, when defeated, the clone explodes into a blast of flame that aims to take over the nearest opponent available in the form of napalm.

((Been 48 hours, moving on to finish my half of the mission.))

With her tonfa out, Hirihi jumped out at the pack leader and swung one tonfa at the side of its head and the other against the side of its neck. Bringing her arms together in the swinging motion, the loud SNAP of its neck echoing among them and causing the remaining seven wolves to have their full attention drawn on Hirihi. "Well, one down." She said, rushing forward to the first one she could get to and attempting the same maneuver. The wolf, not willing to die so easily, put up a fight and latched onto the tonfa, attempting to rip it from her grip. At that same moment, the clone thread a kick against the wolf's side, causing it to let go and for Hirihi to repeat the same action as before.

The rest of the wolves didn't know what to do, each attacking their own attacker nearest them. With six wolvss and five of Hirihi, the battle was nearly over. The remainder of the wolves would seem to go feral, lashing out at anything nearest them, including their own fellow wolves. This led to a lot of bloodshot, with wolves going against each other regardless of the presence of five powerful enemies against them. With the death of their leader, they had no thought of their own on what to do. They just went to the basest of instincts, drawing to a survival of the fittest mentality.

With two of the clones ending up exploding, the fur of three of the beasts would be charred and left lying dead on the ground. With the final wolf going down with a loud yelp, Hirihi dismissed the clones and picked up the bodies, piling them next to each other before taking out a knife. With the knife, she began to separate the different bits of the wolves' bodies that she could use for turning into the people of the mountain community. Starting with the fur, Hirihi separated the pelts of the bodies and laid them out, the bloody carcasses slightly charred from the explosions from a few of the clones.

Starting next with the meat, she began to separate the meat into a usable pile. Laying them on top of the carcass of one of the eight wolves, Hirihi shook hear hands to get some of the blood free of her hands. Collecting a few of the bones that could be used as well, Hriihi wrapped the spare furs into each other, the meat and bones being stored within two of the hides. Picking them up, Hirihi left behind the remains of the wolves for the other animals to clean up. Running back to the spot that they had agreed on, Hirihi wandered to the spot they had agreed on and found that he was no anywhere to be seen.

Grabbing a slip of paper, Hirihi began to write out a note for Satsui as she was tired and needed to rest. "Finished my half of the killing. Dropping it all off with one of the locals to split between the others. Hope your hunting goes well." Hirihi finalized the note, picking up the animal remains and running off to distribute them to the main building with a note stating who it was from and to share it amongst the community. Washing the blood free of her hands, Hirihi began on her trek out of the mountain trails, going to report back the completed mission on her part.

Splitting up was probably for the best so Satsui turned and made haste toward the area where he'd spotted the bear on his previous visit to the mountain. He wasn't sure Hirihi would be all right but once he had made the decision to progress with his mission even the mysteriously endearing female took a back seat in his consciousness. The training that had been given to him in his youth asserted itself and Satsui became a relentless machine driven to complete his task and subdue any resistance, which was currently coming in a furry, full ton package. On his last mission to Mt. Gekitsuu, death had very nearly taken him into the next world but Satsui managed to pull himself back from the grip of the reaper in the nick of time. This time was to be much different for he was far more prepared in knowledge and inventory.

He took out the Kiri-Oni claw and fastened it in place on his right hand; it was his sincere hope that he would have the pleasure of gutting some massive woodland creature before the night's end and he already had a special place planned to carry the liberated entrails. He knew his revenge could not be fully indulged this time around due to the fact that he needed to deliver at least some bits and pieces to the townsfolk living at the base of the mountain but it wasn't like anyone was going to be selling ursus testicles. They might, come to think of it, but not any they bought from Satsui. It was a bear that had almost ghosted him last time and he was honor bound to deliver some serious payback in the form of eternal hibernation. From his inner pockets he withdrew a kunai and couldn't help but admire the sharpened edge and the refined point which glimmered in the darkness of the evening.

His thoughts were momentarily interrupted by the smell of blood and more deliberate investigation turned up a pile of bones and mangled pelts. Satsui couldn't be sure but it seemed as though the animal remains before him were those of wolves. This was problematic because even a full grown bear would have some difficulty killing more than two or three wolves by itself and there were easily ten carcases strewn about in no apparent order. Satsui cursed under his breath as he realized that, once again, the damn mountain had lured him into a deathtrap. The prey had been delivered and from three points in the surrounding foilage a trio of bears came silently stalking toward the young Genin. After a moment, however, Satsui began to smile once more knowing that Hirihi's job would be much less difficult than they originally expected. More than half the pack were lying dead at Satsui's feet and the perpetrators were closing in quickly.

The largest, and therefore slowest, of the trio was about ten meters away and the two smaller one were only about five meters from Satsui. He had only seconds to deduce a strategy and he groaned audibly after settling on his course of action. His energies built up within him as he prepared for the initial skirmish; if everything in his plan didn't happen precisely as he'd forseen it things could take a drastically unfortunate turn. He waited until the two bears, coming from his left and ride side perspectively, were only five feet away before allowing his hands to blur together in a frenzy of motion. What followed was nothing spectacular, only a flash of light that would temporarily blind the twin beasts and cause them to lose sight of their prey.

The marauding predators were unable, or perhaps unwilling, to stop their forward momentum before they tasted his blood and so they continued at full speed toward him. Satsui hadn't expected that and he was only just able to leap up just enough to clear their gaping jaws. He landed atop their furry heads which only served to incense both creatures and they reared up almost immediately but Satsui was quick to descend before that took place. This put him in no position for survival as he was now occupying a half meter window between to angry bears. Instinct took control and his legs began to move without any explicit command allowing Satsui to crouch to a running position and then explode into a dead run. Both of the blinded bears assumed the other had done something to their quarry and they began wrestling even as Satsui had just cleared the area betwixt them.

The third beast had nearly closed the gap between them during this strange dance and was just over four meters away at that point. Satsui sighed once more and pulled out a kunai before he seemingly blurred and reappeared one meter to the rear of the charging behemoth. The bear attempted to halt, having been confused by the sudden relocation of its meal, but the stress of bringing it massive body to a stop seemed to open a shallow, wound channel of the left side of its body. This was actually due to Satsui holding the kunai out to his right side as he passed under the power of the Shunshin no Jutsu and he was currently paying the price as it felt as though his arm had been torn from the socket.

Special: Shunshin no Jutsu is a high-speed movement in which the user moves in a linear fashion from one point to another. Usually facilitated with some sort of distraction (smoke bomb, explosion, or something of that nature to obscure one's vision), the user of the Shunshin no Jutsu can, in some cases, appear to have simply teleported from one location to another. Shunshin no Jutsu can be used once per thread, plus once more each time it is retrained.
Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique, it simple combines high mobility with a distraction to give off the appearance of vanishing - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to.

Satsui had disobeyed the cardinal rule of using the Shunshin no Jutsu, which was not to make any offensive manuevers whilst completing the technique, and for his error he'd been reduced to a one armed capability. But for the level of injury he'd inflicted upon his most immediate threat, the younger bears were still lost in their own tussle, he was rather confident he'd be able to bring down the big bear even without two hands. The malevolent mammal turned to face him as it tried to navigate its path and still favored its wounded side. Its eyes communicated the fact that it knew its wound wasn't meant to kill but to slow it down and make it more susceptible to subsequent attacks. The beast's insight ended there; there was no otherworldly intellect within its massive cranium and so, in its wounded state, the animalistic instinct which flowed within came surging to the surface.

It began to lurch forward; Satsui's death was the master plan but the immediate goal was to maim him in order to bring about the greater design. However, the bear was far from being a threat even if it was aware of that or not. It's injury hadn't simply slowed it and given Satsui the upper hand but rather made it clear that Satsui was controlling the situation from the beginning. There had never been any doubt in the mind of the young Genin about how things were going to play out and drawing first blood had proven his gameplan. Satsui watched the lumbering creature with all the aprehension of a hawk observing an advancing mouse, and it seemed as though his disdain was actually being understood by the animal. A guttural roar arose from the belly of the bear as it closed the final few feet between it and Satsui and its lips curled back to reveal teeth more than ready to rip flesh from bone.

It was met by a grin and a well timed sidestep from the boy in blue; Satsui placed himself a little less than a meter from his previous position with quick footwork and went on the offensive. He only had one arm at his disposal but a one armed shinobi was still a killer with one less arm. The uninjured hand came flowing upward and to the side allowing his fingers to comb through the fur sprouting from the bear's neck before the concealed wristblade sprung forward and buried itself in one of the major arteries running from the heart to the brain. A fountain of blood came gushing out, almost immediately, spewing violently past the sinister blade due to the intense pressure and the frantic beating of the heart. The result was a nigh instantaneous decline in the bear's momentum and resistance; it stumbled and wavered as it's brain fought to remain conscious so as to issue orders to a body that had already begun to grow numb.

The brown, fur-covered corpse sank into the dirt with an inglorious clatter. The death knell, which was a cross between a gurgle and a whimper, was carried on the wings of the breeze until it reached the ears of the warring remnant. The passage of time and the abysmal memory many of their species were known for had absconded with the originating factor concerning the volatile skirmish they'd been so embroiled in. Indeed, the only thing that seemed important to their muddled minds was the fact that their leader, more advanced in size and cunning, had been felled by the young human who regarded their pelts with eager eyes. They grew still in the way all creatures do when they sense impending danger but once Satsui's feet moved in their direction they found their conviction. Without time to appoint a new leader, they became brothers-in-arms once more so as to gain the ability to fend off the young boy heading toward them.

Satsui's smirk widened as he realized that the bears had finally come into the knowledge that he was not their normal prey. It seemed that animals ought to be able to tell that some humans weren't like the rest just as they seemed to be able to tell if some might seek to injure them unjustly. But strength of character had little to do with the evidence of chakra so it was understandable that the animal kingdom might focus on something more easily detected. Of course, the main problem with the bear population on Mt. Gekitsuu wasn't their mere proliferation but also the fact that they'd been rampaging. And frenzied animals weren't mightily concerned with choosing their next meal wisely and thusly back to the task of putting them down. As Satsui's fingers slowly melded together against the backdrop of his nocturnal garb, the bears froze in place as if they were spooked by the sudden movement and yet again the sneer on his face widened.

The Shousen no Jutsu was activated with regards to the proper timing; Satsui determined he would have just enough time to return his injured arm to working condition before the fear he'd instilled in the bears evaporated. Once courage had returned to their hearts and they'd regained their composure it would be doubly hard to force them onto the defensive again, but Satsui wasn't willing nor stupid enough to charge the twin, predatory beasts with only one functional arm. His chakra coated his hand and then went to work delving into the damaged tissue of his arm. The ligament had been freed with such pervasive force that the surrounding tissue had been summarily damaged but nothing terribly serious. It seemed to take forever when, in fact, less than a minute had passed before Satsui was able to feel his shoulder again and moments later he was done with his mend. The bears also seemed to have had enough waiting which they communicated magnificently when they took up a circling pattern around his current position.
